Colton Cavanaugh. I can’t stand him. Entitled and smug, he takes whatever he wants—praise, people, things that aren’t his to claim. And the worst part? Everyone still worships him. His impressive footwork on the soccer pitch. That cocky smile. The charm he wears like armor. But I see through it. I know his game on and off the field.
And I refuse to be his next move.
But the more we face off—the tension growing thick between us—the more I start to unravel. A wink, a shove, a smirk from him and I’m buzzing, like a live wire ready to snap. My body reacts to him in a way I’ve never felt before. It’s messy, confusing, and impossible to ignore.
I’m not gay. Never wanted a guy—until Colton.
I just wanted back what he took from me… so why does it feel like I could give him everything?

“Beg me, Witkoff. Beg me to play with you.”

Myles can't stop watching Colton. He tells himself that it's because he hates Colton for stealing his girl, but really it's because he can't force himself to look away. A very hot and very heavy game of gay chicken ensues, with Myles falling farther and farther under Colton's spell. This is the tropiest book to ever trope, with several delicious 'wear my jersey and nothing else' scenes, a double bi-awakening, cocky sports ball players, a dick-measuring contest, locker room sexy times, and a ton of hot, steamy kissing 😍 😍.
Seems I’m a power bottom and a size queen. I want it big and thick. I want it all the time.

Play With Me feels like vintage Cora Rose with incredible chemistry between the two MCs and a small side crew of zany side characters. The addition of an intriguing mysterious side plot further enhances the story and tests the strength of Mycah and Colton's bond. I really enjoyed the book and I hope Cora writes more books about sportsball players!
“You’re my favorite addiction.”

Play with Me is a steamy enemies-to-lovers romance between rugby player Myles and soccer player Colton. One of my favorite parts of this story is the initial interaction between Myles and Colton. Both are quite different, Colton being a popular and charismatic person who instantly grabs the spotlight in any room he enters, while Myles is a quiet observer who cannot keep his eyes off the star soccer player.

Myles is obsessed, confused, and utterly drawn to Colton, and their first encounter is nothing short of intense, steamy, and completely captivating. Of course, this mild obsession leads to many explosively steamy moments with Colton, who is a bit surprised and interested in his newfound stalker, which quickly turns into a very steamy rivals with benefits situation.

What I really enjoyed about this setup of the story is how quickly you realize that both Colton and Myles are keeping a lot of their feelings at bay, and both are very overwhelmed with their shocking feelings for the other. They clearly are feeling way more than they ever anticipated, and this discovery is one of my favorite aspects of their story and their insane chemistry.

I also enjoyed how the emotional depth of these characters progresses in a significant way; many reveals are quite shocking, which adds many layers to both characters. I appreciated how there was more than just steamy encounters between these two. Their feelings are real, significant, and play a huge role throughout the course of this story.

This is my favorite entry of the series, and I loved how brilliantly written their one-night stand and endless hookups transformed into quite an emotional and meaningful story.

Absolutely loved Play With Me! Colton and Myles had me instantly hooked, right from the beginning I couldn’t put this down. If you’re looking for a super spicy book with double bi awakening, hate to love, soccer x rugby and a couple “wear my jersey” moments, I highly recommend this one!

I’m not sure why I thought this would be a one dimensional, shallow book. that was a mistake on my part because this was amazing! emotional and heartwarming, I was not expecting the plot to take quite a turn😈😈

Colton and Myles were fun characters, but I just feel like cora rose’s books have a similar character dynamic? The animosity in the beginning that paves way to sex which finally gives way to talks about their pasts.now that i think about it, that’s basically the plot to every 21st century romance right? . it was still good to read, the romance was a bit predictable but the plot was good and the found family - nosy family trope always hits different for me✨💗

there were just few instances that ticked me. Like when Colton goes off to do something that’s supposed to be for Myles but really just leaves Myles in the dark for days, leaving him to take on the brunt of the situation by himself. I thought that was very unfair.

“I turn my palm up and see my grandma’s lucky coin sitting there.
“You did steal it. Why?”
He leans forward and whispers in my ear. “I wanted your kind of luck. I wanted just a second of what you had. But now I don’t need it.”
“Why?”
“Because I have you. And that’s as lucky as I can possibly get. I love you, Myles.”

⭐️ 4.5 stars rounded up! ⭐️

I don't know if Cora Rose is on a roll or working in several collabs with other authors has boosted her writing, even solo, or what, but this was marvelous and I loved it. Funny how my last solo read by Cora was my lowest rating of her work but overall has a high rating and this has a somewhat low rating overall but I'm giving it 4.5 stars. I guess the average rating isn't always indicative of the quality of a book and if you'll like it or hate it.

First off, I can see how some gave this a low rating. It has all the markings of something that shouldn't have worked. There is a lot of sex, Myles and Colton take awhile to get to actually know each other, and we don't get a lot of deep and meaningful conversations between them before deep, 'I love you' feelings are coming to the surface.

So I get it, and I'm giving .5 stars off mainly for that reason. Not as much effort was put into them getting to know each other as there should have been and there was almost too much sex which is saying a lot from me.

BUT - what can I say, everything basically clicked in this one for me. Myles and Colton's chemistry was so good and the sex scenes were *chefs kiss* wonderful, I had no complaints, not for any of them, really.

Even as I realized the sex scenes were bountiful, I just couldn't find it in myself to give much of a damn. I was loving this anyway, and these two together. Something about them just worked, they clicked from the beginning, and I was never bored, never annoyed about them moving fast and basically being so much about sex.

Also, this had a bit of what was going on in This Might Hurt by Riley Nash, only....better done. Or maybe just done faster and more satisfyingly.

Colton also grew up rich, but he suspects his mother and his stepfather conspired to kill his father, who died when he was 12, and an autopsy and investigation was never done on his father. Now at 21, his inheritance has kicked in and he has full control of the company that made his family rich. Only his stepfather, the current CEO of the company, clearly wants him out of the way to take control.

Colton can seem hard to take at times, a little hard to like at first, and he messes up several times with Myles, but you can't help but understand him and empathize with him when we go into the belly of the beast and see just how oppressive and awful it is living in that house with his mother and stepfather.

Learning the things they put Colton though, like is so beyond fucked. And it seems like they might actively trying to kill Colton just like they did his father.

I liked that we had real stakes in this book, and that they fought back as well. It's funny because like This Might Hurt, but it didn't feel like the overarching plot, although it was part of it, so it didn't feel wasted. Plus he actually, truly so it didn't feel at all for nothing.

Plus, it felt like Colton was finally freeing himself from a horrible situation, to be free and happy with Myles.

Myles was a sweetie pie and I loved his character. Colton was perhaps harder to love at times, but I did come to love him by the end for sure. Myles was just lovable from the start. He has a great family too.

His mom and sisters were perhaps way too nosy - especially Maya - but they still were rather charming, in my opinion? I could see how their nosiness would get way too annoying and go too far, but overall they were sweet and loving and meant well. They were so loving and comforting, too, especially Myles' mother.

So I just adored this, all of it worked for me, even as I acknowledge where others might get a bit frustrated with this, such as with all the sex, Myles' mother and sisters' meddling, Colton's attitude at times, etc.

But I ultimately don't care that much.

Also we never get Colton's POV in this - a bummer - but his obsession with Myles came across quite clear. He couldn't get enough of Myles just as much as Myles couldn't get enough of him. They were perfect for each other.

Myles was also amazing when he refused to back down in the face of everything Colton's family threw at them, and refusing to give up on his and Colton's relationship. He was just what Colton needed after almost a decade of no love or affection from anyone.

This makes me happy and excited for whatever Cora Rose cooks up next, whether it be solo or co-authored. She's back in my good graces for now.

Until the next one! 😍🥰😘

Play With Me is a new standalone MM sports romance set in the Love the Game universe. This love story is about Colton and Myles.

Colton is a soccer player looking to play professionally after he graduates college. He is rich, sexy, and definitely has his way with the ladies. Myles is a rugby player and on a full-ride scholarship. Myles has it out for Colton, but after a run in at a party, things get physical in more ways than one. From that point on, Myles and Colton can’t seem to stay away from each other. This is both of their first times being with a man, but they give into to this attraction and are so hot together. Colton and Myles keep things a secret, and eventually things turn into more.

Myles has such an amazing mom, sisters, and best friend. They were so accepting of Myles and Colton. I will say I was shocked to learn about Colton’s family and my heart went out to him. I did get frustrated a few times with how Colton treated Myles, but Myles forgave him and stuck by Colton during some hard times. I was definitely rooting for them. Overall, I really enjoyed Myles and Colton’s story.

I received an advanced copy of this book, and this is my honest review.

Tropes: dislike to love, miscommunication, sports
Feels: 4.5/5

Angst: low
HEA: HEA
Pairing: MM
Triggers/potential icks/content warnings/representation: Colton's dad was murdered in the past, Colton's stepdad repeatedly drugs Colton, emotional abuse and gaslighting by stepdad, past death of Myles's dad, non-consensual outing of MCs, release of nude pics against will
Cheating between MCs: No
Any cheating: Colton's mom likely cheated on his dad with his future stepdad. And Colton's mom seems to be cheating on the stepdad too
Other person drama: once they meet, neither of them are with anyone else. Colton kisses his fake girlfriend (she's gay) once, to put on a performance for their families, and Myles's feelings are hurt but it was nothing.

4.75 stars

Colton and Myles are both college athletes, they are both 21. Colton is filthy rich and has a bit of a bad boy reputation. Myles is the son of a single mother and has three sisters, and he's very close to them. Colton has a horrible family dynamic, his father was killed by his mom and stepdad when he was 12 and they covered it up. Ever since they have been emotionally and physically abusive to Colton, because they want his inheritance. They drug him and they smear his reputation in public so they can manipulate him for their financial interests.

The book starts off with Myles mad at Colton, because he recently hooked up with a girl Myles had started dating and was interested in. Colton catches on to the fact that he has Myles attention and he's entertained by it, he finds the animosity a fun challenge and he thinks Myles is cute. They both thought they were straight but their attraction for each other makes them realize they aren't. Them physically fighting turns into attraction and they hook up for the first time really quickly, like 3% in.

These guys are so gone on each other. And I was here for it, I loved their dynamic. They are immediately addicted to the way the other person makes them feel. Sex has never been this good for either of them. And Colton in particular is obsessed with kissing and snuggling with Myles, he constantly needs the dopamine hit. They really are both so needy for each other in a billion ways. A good chunk of this book is absolutely hilarious and unhinged steam, as they can't stop themselves from hooking up and taking things further. Myles is reluctant and Colton is pursuing him hard and neither of them can stop themselves from caving into their craving. And Myles can't keep a secret from his female relatives to save his life, and everyone knows the moment they look at him that he is smitten and he word vomits all his secrets to them and it's hilarious. TMI at times. Especially when one sister tells the mom he lost his butt virginity. That was out of line. But they are incredibly supportive and it's a wild ride. This family would fit right in with the Van Beek family in Cora's other books. Lol.

However, it wasn't all fun and games, it got serious as Colton had to deal with his family s***. A little bit of the Colton's family stuff was handled unrealistically and got a little vague with the details. Cora really shines more so with the funny steamy obsessed love stuff. This book was also told entirely from Myles perspective, and it would have been nice to get Colton's perspective at least a little. This book also featured the miscommunication trope, which isn't a favourite trope of mine. I like to see the characters get to know each other a bit better and have a bit more faith in each other than this. It was disappointing at times that Colton did not communicate better with Myles and made Myles question their relationship.

However, that was only a minor negative. I really enjoyed this book. I love when characters are so obsessed with each other and touch starved for each other.

Some notable moments:

I absolutely love how supportive Myles's mom is. It's literally been like 20 seconds since she found out and she is jumping into being an ally. "I see my mom clacking away on her phone. “What are you doing?” I ask, and she grins at me. “Just buying Pride stuff.” “Good fuck.” “Oh, honey, make sure you’re using protection. Do you need condoms? Lube?” Maya snorts so loudly she chokes, and I flip her off. “I’m not discussing this with you anymore.” “There is PrEP, too. Want me to get you in for an appointment?” “Mom, no. Stop. Jesus.” She huffs and then continues on. “Anyone else want a Pride flag? It’s buy two, get one free.”"

I adore how obsessed they are with each other. "I shudder and shake, my mouth opening and closing as I gasp for air. And when I come back to reality, he’s kissing me. His mouth closing in on mine, his tongue thrusting into my mouth. “You’re fucking perfect,” he murmurs, and I just let him have me."

Colton is so obsessed, I am here for it. He's touch starved for Myles and so needy. They both are really. "“I’m sorry,” he adds. I blink at him, words trapped in my throat. “Can I kiss you again?” I huff and feel my cheeks redden. “No.” He sets his bag down and steps forward. “Just a few small ones?”"

*FYI about steam: I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink.

**Note about spoilers: I like to comment on the plot of a book in reviews, so I almost always mark my reviews as containing spoilers. But I try to avoid spoiling the big dramatic moments! As a reader, I personally like to know what I'm getting into before I read a book so I know more about the content and if it's to my taste/mood, so I try to give that information in my reviews for myself when I'm considering rereading and also for other readers.

"Don't play with me. I'm a horny boy."

When you get this book plan to sit and not get back up because once I started I was SAT and did not move until I was done with this book.
At one point I had to stop and make sure I was reading a Cora book because when I say the spice that is in this book is top tier, believe me!

Colton & Myles are just what I needed.
Trust me when I say that these two are explosive together. Colton comes at Myles when he least expects it but when he lets that guard down is when it gets not only fun but then emotions get brought into it too.
I never know what to expect in a Cora Rose book but this one caught me by surprise in the best way possible. The dynamic between Colton and Myles is one that I don't think many would suspect since they are different, Colton the star soccer player and Myles the fly-half of the rugby team but it works.
There is a lot packed into this one and it was so fun to get Myles family too in this. We love a supportive mom through anything, add in sisters who tease but also support you and we have the best family dynamic. The humor is also what helps in the emotional times and trust me there is a few of those and it hurt.

You can expect plenty of banter between Colton & Myles that may have you squirming in your seat!
The spice is off the charts 🥵
Touch of jealousy, we love!
Double Bi-Awakening, fuck yes!
Dirty talk is 🤌
Exhibitionism is such a good time here 😏
Touch a cum play 🤤
and plenty more!

I haven't read many books that are Soccer or Rugby but this one checked both those boxes and then some!

entertaining, easy as hell to read, and hot enough to melt my phone.
Colton and Myles have that perfect enemies-to-“just pull my pants down already” chemistry, and their scenes? FOUL. UNHINGED. DELICIOUS. I loved every shove-to-handjob pipeline moment.

Myles was honestly the MVP — open, communicative, emotionally intelligent (“raised by a single mom and three sisters, respect yourself, communicate”). King behaviour. 👑
Both of them exploring their bisexual awakening without angst? Loved it.

Colton’s family drama was… wild. Money, murder, more murder, corporate shares — full crime soap-opera energy. Entertaining, but soggy around the edges.

My only gripe: the one-week disappearance at the end Absolutely unnecessary. He said “we face everything together,” then ✨POOF✨. I didn’t buy it, and Myles forgave that way too fast.

But overall? Hot, fun.

Go read this book now. Oh my goodness. Cora nailed the dirty talk and had me highlighting basically everything. This book once again made me realize how much I love jock/awakening/gay for you and all the dirty talk. Like come on, wearing my jersey for me! SWOON! When the first baby hit I was done for.

Colton and Myles ended up together one night in an unexpected way and from that night they were hooked. The back and forth had me salivating and needing more. I couldn’t put this book down. 100% all the vibes were *chefs kiss*

I didn’t expect the story to go as deep as it did but oh my goodness. My heart kept breaking for Colton. Myles took care of his man!

The only thing I was left begging for was both points of view. I would have loved to be inside Colton’s head as some scenes were playing out.

I think we needed Colton’s POV to make him less trash. Was the author trying to make him like a well-known hockey character from another series? It seemed like it. The story went off the rails. It was also warp speed and only about sex so it was difficult to even care

Classic Cora Rose. Unapologetic, in your face crass. She creates characters like Colton Cavanaugh , fearless and without boundaries. Stunning men like Myles into submissive silence and ultimate acceptance. A somewhat forced bi-awakening.
"Thou doth protest too much" is the recurring theme when Myles becomes putty in Colton's hands, every time. Outrageous acceptance of outrageous demands. Myles simply cannot resist anything Colton asks for. ( Which, to be real, feels a little off)
And once the sexing starts, there is an over-every-chance-they-get-abundance of it. But add in the mystery and evil parents and we have all the ingredients we need for a book that I couldn't put down.

A few notes...
Good mom's hugs rule💪
Colton is one messed up guy. Seriously.🧐🤨 I can't say I ever warmed up to him.
Though the drama is good, this book felt a little too formulaic.

This is a college romance about a rugby player on scholarship and a rich soccer player. The story is heavily reliant on sex, very little getting to know each other/on-page emotional intimacy. Normally that wouldn't bother me much but the external storyline is so OTT/serious that it feels disjointed compared to the surface-level romance. One of the MC's behavior towards the end is a big red flag for me even if it was well intentioned. Overall enjoyable but not as memorable as most of Cora's stories.

This series has been wonderful. Each book I've loved so much.

This is different from the rest. The plot in this book towards the last 3rd I'd say was a touch dark I'd say and tense. Not with the main MC's really but rather one of the MCs is dealing with some very heavy situations in his personal life.

Aside from that last bit. The book was a fast burn. Myles is just irked by Colton for no real reason, lol, seeing him at a party Myles thinks he is a show boat or play boy.

These two have a spicy moment that night, and really it just keeps going from there.

Myles is addicted lol he doesn't know why he can't stop needing Colton.

They were sweet though. The push and pull was typical, but really we all know Myles is gagging for it …. Literally 🤣
Literally obsessed with Colton lol

Myles's family was fantastic. Sweet and funny.

Myles and his family really pull through for Colton and the heavy themes.

They were super sweet together.
Needy, clingy and emotional.
There was a lot of spice as well.

“Can I kiss you again?” I huff and feel my cheeks redden. “No.” He sets his bag down and steps forward. “Just a few small ones?”

The drama in the last bit was sort of out of nowhere. I didn't expect things to get that heavy. It was resolved. But of a 3rd act no show/disappearance.

Overall it has been a fantastic series. Each book was wonderful and unique.

Myles Witkoff is a rugby player and is studying business as his major. He has strived to get where he is, with a full scholarship. Growing up with three sisters and a single Mom after his Dad died, he realises money is tight. His girlfriend has recently dumped him and hooked up with Colton, someone who Myles is not fond of.

Colton Cavanaugh doesn't have to worry about money, he is the heir to a lucrative business. He loves to play football (soccer) and hopes to make a career out of it. Living in the frat house (KOK) on campus, he likes to party. He does have an abhorrent stepfather, and his mother doesn’t care.

One night at a party Myles and Colton hookup, being quite an angry moment on the forest floor, they both agree it is a one off. However, once they hook up again, they keep finding each other, and find it tougher to resist one another. They both identify as straight, but with each other they are anything but.

Cora Rose has written the final book in the multi author series ‘Love The Game’. From beginning to end this series has been a delight. Full of low angst, sports related mm romance.
I love the way Colton just accepted his attraction to Myles, and he embraced it, never questioning it. Myles, on the other hand struggled to get his head around it, all he knew was he liked Colton, despite hating him.
The writing flows nicely, and the spice, oh my, it’s hot.

Play With Me is part of the multi-authors series Love The Game, and wow, what a ride!

What to expect:
🏉 Rugby and soccer players
💬 Top-tier banter
💰 A touch of rich family drama
💞 Found family feels

I devoured this book in less than 24 hours because it just flows. The pacing is effortless, the dialogue sparkles, and before I knew it, I was completely invested in Colton and Myles.

On paper, these two couldn’t be more different. They come from opposite worlds, and everything seems to be working against them. But when they crash into each other (literally), the tension is instant and explosive. From that moment on, I was hooked.

Their chemistry jumps off the page : equal parts flirty, snarky, and tender. Beneath all the teasing and competitiveness, there’s so much vulnerability and longing that it genuinely tugged at my heart.

If you love sports romances with great banter, emotional depth, and characters you can’t help but root for, Play With Me is a total win.

This is a enemies to more college sports romance, featuring Myles and Colton, and is book seven in the Love The Game multi author series.

Myles can’t stand Colton - entitled, charming, and worshipped by everyone, he’s everything Myles despises - yet the more they clash, the more Myles finds himself irresistibly drawn to him.

This is a fast burn from the very first chapter. Myles and Colton’s chemistry is off the charts—equal parts tension, obsession, and heat. Both of them are completely gone for each other, and those Dom/sub vibes - Chef’s kiss. Myles, the big rugby player, just melts whenever Colton takes control, and it’s honestly addictive to read. Highly entertaining from start to finish.

Things to expect in this book are:
Book 7
Multi author series
MM college sports romance
Single POV
Rugby x Soccer
Enemies to more
Push / pull
Fast burn
Mild stalking
Both obsessed
Double bi awakening
Spicy times
Dom/sub vibes
Degradation

S*x toys
Food play - ice cream
Hurt / Comfort
Horrible parents
Mystery

Fun but inconsistent

As exclusively a standalone novel, it’s fun and has some good stuff going on. As part of the series it’s advertised with, it’s kind of strange. It’s happened with a couple of the other books, so it’s not solely exclusive to this entry, but I wish there was a little more cohesion. Characterizations (and in this books’s case the setting too lol) vary wildly between entries, and I found Ferris’s cameo in this to be frustratingly out of character. I’m autistic myself though, so I’m a bit touchy about that. Despite getting distracted at times by the inconsistencies, I can’t say I didn’t have a good time in the end

I would have never guessed Cora wrote this. It definitely lacked her “vibe”. Though I thought the chemistry between Colton and Myles was hot, that’s really all that that kept this story going. It started off strong and intriguing with its high heat and pseudo E2L-ish, but the main plot outside the romance just didn’t work at all. It was not well developed or thought out and definitely felt OTT and rushed, like there needed to be something more thrown into the already short book but it did nothing for the story. Additionally Colton’s personality change in the second half also was disappointing. 😐
