The Earthers are gone, but not forgotten. That becomes staggeringly clear to Lyndel when he encounters a clutch of stage three Summoners wearing Earther clothing and living in a town much like their past tormentors. Worst yet, these Summoners possess the ability to force all lower stage Summoners to shift to the third stage and remain there.
Summoners aren’t Earthers, however and under the two harsh suns, they cannot hope to survive. They take drastic measures to ensure their safety until their action reaches far too close to home for Lyndel to forgive.
Allowing them a chance to thrive has dire consequences, but doing away with these mock-Earthers even more so. Lyndel struggles to understand the ramifications should Summoners and Levelers unite. Return to the old ways before the Earthers’ arrival, or embrace the new and continue on? Lyndel doesn’t have much time before the decision is no longer his.

Absolutely brilliant. I didn't think this could top Chrysalis - I was wrong.
*proper review to follow, but...just read this (after the other two obviously) it is a truly beautiful, emotive, and character driven story. I didn't want it to end.*
