Heavenly Sins #3

Between Life & Death

Rate this book
This is book three in the Heavenly Sins serial.

With one of his lovers imprisoned in the Underworld, Mac has no choice except to go where most angels fear to tread.

With Tristan imprisoned in the Underworld the ménage is broken. Angels are forbidden to enter the demonic domain and while Mac has been breaking rules in recent months, he doesn't have the power to enter the Underworld.

Alastor is still unsure about his position in the relationship following recent revelations, but he cannot walk away when he is the only real link between his two lovers. Splitting his time between Mac and Tristan he hopes they can soon find a way to reunite the two men in his life.

As time moves on Alastor realises he is struggling to satisfy Tristan's thirst for sex. His lover needs more than he can give him and craves Mac in his bed.

Mac still believes he can complete his mission to save his two lovers, but with one of them out of his reach it is going to be far from easy.

During their time together they have made plenty of enemies, including one who would seek to separate them forever, even if it means biding his time until Alastor and Tristan are at their most vulnerable, when even the love of an angel can't save them.

Reader Advisory: This book contains multiple male ménage.

I live in England, in a quaint little village that time doesn't seem to have touched. No, wait a minute- that's the retirement biography. Right now I am in England in a medium sized town that no one has ever heard of, so I won't bore you with the details. Keeping me company are numerous sexy men. I just wish that they weren't all inside my head.

Please note, L.M. Brown is no longer active on Goodreads. Although she does occasionally check in to comment on another's blog the visits are few and far between.

'Between Life and Death' is the final book in LM Brown's trilogy 'Heavenly Sins'. As has been the case before, this installment picked up immediately where the previous book ended. Tristan is the newly crowned Demon King, a prisoner for all time in the Underworld. The only way he can leave is through his death. Mac can't enter the Underworld, unless he gives up his wings and becomes a demon. And Alastor is still moping with the guilt of having killed Tristan in a previous life. Again, I strongly recommend these books be read in order, as there is far too much backstory, otherwise.

To say the times are tough for this threesome is a mild statement. Alastor is bouncing back and forth between Mac and Tristan, trying to keep everyone happy. Tristan is miserable in the Underworld, and not doing a good job of handling the demon politics that are a part of his new job as the Demon King. Between Lucifer and the first incubus and first succubus, Tristan can't trust anyone. And then throw in Tristan's own demon incubus not feeding properly on Alastor, the Underworld is a mess. Mac isn't doing much better between the Heavenly Realm and Earth, as the archangels aren't going to help, at least not overtly.

As if all of these problems weren't bad enough, something even more destructive to their ménage happens, throwing all of them into tumult. It's rather entertaining to see how the archangels and Lucifer manage to create all these rules, which end up screwing them all in the end. No matter, though, Alastor and Tristan eventually find their way back to each other and to Mac, while learning valuable lessons along the way.

A good ending to an interesting series, 'Between Life and Death', went in a direction or two that surprised me and kept me entertained. If you like ménage with battles between good and evil, then this series might be for you.

This is book 3 in the series and sees Mac, Tristan and Alastor separated but intent on finding a way back to each other. Demons are slippery characters and it appears Lucifer has been very crafty over the years and has no plans to be magnanimous anytime soon. Tristan is well and truly stuck in the underworld and his incubus has decided it will only feed from the one thing that is not allowed to enter the demonic realm.

Alastor is flitting between two worlds and two lovers and is left frustrated that he cannot help bring his men back together. Mac is left on earth and can only catch glimpses of Tristan through the pool of visions when in the heavenly realm. Arch angel Michael has been a dark horse for many years and his secret took me completely by surprise. It explained so much and in the end may well have saved Tristan’t life in the short term.

An act of bravery from Alastor changes everything but leaves them in a far more dire situation than before. The story makes perfect sense but I was left completely frustrated by it, I wanted these three men to find a quick solution to their plight, and the author disagreed with me completely! If there is to ever be a chance for them to have their HEA they are really going to have to work for it and I began to hate the reality they were left with. Thank god for Michael and Raphael who ran interference eventually.

Congratulations must go the author for the world building over these three books. Everything was set and ready for what must happen and as a reader I was left quickly flipping pages and sat on the edge of my seat waiting to see how it would all work itself out. I found myself shouting at my kindle at the seemingly unfairness of it all and then the Epilogue turned me into a blubbering mess. Well done L M Brown on a fantastic series!

Third story of Mac, Alistor and Tristan. I can't lie I did cry a few times. Well written. Great wrap up of the story. Recommend all 3 books. Best to have all 3 books ready to go if you are going to start reading the series.

I have really mixed feelings about the last book in the Heavenly Sins series. On the one hand, I love the entire story arc and loved both the main and, most of, the secondary characters. However, the final installment seemed different than the first two books. I couldn’t put my finger on it exactly, but something felt off. Maybe it was me since it was so long between the second and third books, but whatever it was, it didn’t affect me too much as I was still easily able to fall right back into it and pick up where I had left off.

Alastor, Tristan, and Mac are a very smoking hot threesome…except for most of the story, Tristan and Mac are separated, literally between heaven and hell. Alastor was able to travel between the two realms and tried to keep his family together as much as possible…knowing he might never be able to reunite them again. Alastor has been portrayed as the black sheep, the fallen angel, the demon without a conscience throughout the series. Except, he finally gets his chance for redemption…at the cost of losing both Tristan and Mac.

Poor Mac. The perfect angel who is left all alone, with no way to get to either of his lovers. My heart broke for him. He was the good guy, the one who took care of the others, but he is the one who ended up alone and lonely…again. I understood why that had to happen, but it didn’t mean I had to like it.

Tristan is trapped in the underworld and hating his new life. Going from human to demon king is not an easy transition, especially since he really didn’t do anything bad enough to warrant his exile in hell. You feel for these guys, you really do. I was left pondering their fate and how it could be resolved with the trio intact, but it was hard. And yes, it does happen, but it was awful the way it happened…beautiful, but sad, so yeah, it was awful for Mac at first because he was left with the memories but no lovers.

I was glad to see more about Michael and Raphael, and also Lucifer. The Michael / Lucifer storyline was kind of unexpected, and I would definitely read their story if one was ever written. So, I have mixed emotions, but for the most part, it is an amazing story and I loved it. A very worthy read, but one where the guys have nothing come easy for them, and it takes more than a lifetime to resolve, but it is a happily ever after and at the end of the day that’s all that really matters.

Overall Impression: I really liked it

Be sure to buy your favorite comfort food snack and a big box of tissues so that you will have them on hand for when you go into this book. Mac, Alastor, and Tristan have had a rough go at their relationship from the very beginning. L.M. Brown takes it to a whole different level of difficult and trying with Between Life & Death.

The Heavenly Sins series must be read in order. Due to unavoidable events from Between Good & Evil, Tristan is now trapped in the Underworld. Alastor has the ability to visit him with ease, but Mac is forbidden from the Underworld. Alastor can feed Tristan’s incubus yet he still questions his place in this relationship due to the events that landed Alastor in the Underworld to begin with. Tristan and Mac are adamant that they have forgiven their lover and that they intend to only look to the future. The future doesn’t look too promising when Tristan’s incubus decides it only wants to feed from Mac, the part of the trio that has no access to Tristan.

This book is one huge roller coaster of emotions. The dire situations that these three men face seem so impossible at so many times. Brown gave this sexy trio the best possible happily ever after. They have been more than deserving to get this conclusion to one hell of an amazing erotic paranormal romance series.

Tristan, Alastor and Mac have reached a crossroads that will determine all of their futures. The critical question is whether they will survive together or be torn apart?

Between Life & Death is the third book in the Heavenly Sins series. The well written plot explores the religious sticky situation of human morals, along with the influences our earthly behavior has on the afterlife.

At this point in the story, Tristan is the new demon king but he is being held prisoner by the first fallen archangel Lucifer.

Alastor is still a demon, but is displaying a compassion normally associated with humans. Most of Alastor’s change in morals can be contributed to Mac; the angel is steadfastly fighting for Alastor’s and Tristan’s salvation.

The events illustrated in the storyline leads to the separation of the three lovers which will sadden the readers particularly drawn to Mac; however the rewards from heaven soon eradicate the angel’s period of remorse.

The most important element of L.M. Brown’s Between Life & Death is love, which seems to be the incentive motivating Mac, Alastor and Tristan in crucial decision making. I thoroughly enjoyed the character’s honorable traits, as well as their arousing exhibitions of intimacy.

This book was such a awesome addition to this series!

You get a lot more of Tristen, Mac and Alastor together in this book. The author grabbed me from the start of this book and I could not put it down. So much happens in this book for all three of these men it was just amazing that they were able to hold everything together so well and I honestly felt after everything they went through they seemed so much stronger as a ménage then they did in previous books.
Tristen is in hell as the Demon King in this book were Mac can not get to him only Alastor can visit him there. He is miserable because he does not want to be there at all. Then someone tries to kill Tristen when Alastor steps in just wow!! Everything that happens after that was so hard for this three at first but the way everything works out eventually for all of them was just so beautiful. The ending of this book was just so sweet and I was honestly so happy for them!
You get your angst and action plus lets not forgot the steam which like the previous books in this series was just so hot!

All together I really loved this book and this series!

I would definitely recommend this series!

I received this book free in exchange for an honest review from Inked Rainbow Reads.
