Hansel, Part Four

Rate this book
THE FINAL PART IN THE DARK EROTIC FAIRY TALE...

Hansel.
Gretel.

They were captives who shared a wall, and cut a hole in it so they could hold each other's hands. Until he killed their captor, Mother. Then he disappeared, and as the world swooped in to save the Children locked away in Mother's house, the girl called Gretel became...lost. No breadcrumbs.

Finding Hansel, years later, is the shock of Leah McKenzie's adult life. Finding out how far she'll go for him - that's no surprise.

Leah's given Hansel - Lucas, he says it is - every piece of herself. And he's been both cruel and kind.

What they share is dangerous.
What they feel is dark.
Their history is twisted.
Their hearts already broken.
And that's before the secrets are revealed.

*Hansel Part 4 is the final installment in this erotic fairy tale. Full disclosure: it's a dark read. If you don't enjoy mind-bending stories with disturbing twists, this story may not be for you.

** 4 "baby monitor?" STARS **

"You're only half," she murmurs, looking up into my eyes. "If you put two of us together, baby, all we need is half to make a whole."
~ LEAH/GRETEL

Now this...this was something magical.

I have gotten used to seeing series going downhill after a perfect start, it happens often, but a series that pick it up after a few "Meh" books is a very rare thing to come across, surely.

After the huge let-down I experienced with Book#3, I decided it was best to lower my expectations for this book, you know, to avoid disappointment and all. Well, suffice to say, there was no need for that, because Ella James managed to revive her Hansel series rather perfectly with this last installment!

Some of those twists...I would have never been able to guess! I thought I had some solid theories about some of the mysteries, but HELL NAW, I was shocked with the light on even those questions! Things finally make sense now and everything worked wonderfully for me.

There were some parts that gripped my heart and squeezed it hard. I came this close to crying a few times.

There were some parts that made me all hot and bothered too, of course. DAYUM, Leah is one lucky gal! *giggles*

Luke/Hansel finally showed us the tender and broken parts of himself and they're beautiful. This man has gone through a lot of sh*t in his life, but still has a huge heart!

I kiss her like I'm trying to push my soul into her soul via our mouths. I kiss her like I'm dying and she's life. I kiss her like she's exaltation.
~ LUKE/HANSEL

Leah/Gretel is as sweet and supporting and loving as ever! I admire how she never gave up on this difficult man even when he was being a total d*ck most of the time...

Maybe it's self-destructive. Maybe it's crazy. But I need him. Hansel. Luke. I don't care what his name is.
~ LEAH/GRETEL

Among all the surprises this book had hidden inside, one stood up for me. It involves a room with lots of mirrors, a little baby and Grape Ape Voodoo donuts. It was somewhat sickening and terribly heartbreaking, but kinda sweet at the end.

If you still haven't gotten on board with the erotic fairytale train, then I suggest you jump in ASAP! You're missing a lot!

I love when I read the final part of a series and everything just comes together. Things were explained, things that I didn’t see coming at all. And not just one thing, there were several! I thought I had it all figured out at the end of part 3, but I was wrong. Ella managed to shock me with some of these revelations!
“I hate that this is your story. I’d do anything to change it.”

Lucas and Leah haven’t had an easy past. Lucas especially. Getting to really see everything Lucas went through was heartbreaking. Going into the past isn’t easy for Lucas. It almost breaks him. But Leah deserves that closure. She deserves to know what happened to him, to her, and the part he played in it all.

I hurt for Lucas. I love what he said about his past with Mother, how it must have been fate. At first that seems like a messed up thing to say, until he explained it. Then I felt all swoony.

I’ve enjoyed this twisted fairy tale series. Sexy and dark with a damaged man. Just my type of read. Overall, I enjoyed this final installment. I do with the ending would have given us a little more closure, but I was still happy with how things were wrapped up.
“All you have to have is half.” she whispers.

Read a book based on a fairy tale (part 4 of 4)

For most of the book. this was me

And if you've read my reviews for the first three books in this series you will know why. So I'm not going to expand on my annoyances any further. If you haven't seen my reviews for the previous books (well, mostly the previous 2) here and here. You're welcome.

Around 75% I went from annoyed and frustrated, but totally keeping my cool to this

Or perhaps, you might say I reverted back to my more animalistic nature.

Fucking crab. Never stood a chance.

Now you may be wondering what made me finally succumb to my repressed RAGE and ANGER at 75%? Well, the answer is my friends.......drumrolllllllllllllll.......

A donut.
(warning: mild spoilers)

Hansel and Leah go through the most angsty relationship EVER to walk away from each other again. Finally when Leah goes back to find Hansel, she finds him in a hotel and he is carrying a box of donuts. He asks her if she wants one and he says they aren't for him.

WELL DUH! HANSEL WOULDN'T EAT A WHOLE BOX OF DONUTS HIMSELF!

But when Hansel says the ENTIRE BOX OF DONUTS aren't for him, Leah overreacts. And the first thing on Leah's mind when he tells her they aren't for him is that they are for another woman. Because naturally, any woman that Hansel would be interested in would be interested in eating AN ENTIRE BOX OF DONUTS.

DONUTS!!!!!!!!! FUCKING DONUTS!!!! CHRIST!

Leah runs away because of those fucking donuts. She starts screaming at him in the middle of the hotel to get the hell away from her. She makes a scene. Because he was carrying a box of donuts.

BOX OF DONUTS=IN LOVE WITH ANOTHER WOMAN.

So there you have it folks, if you ever see your significant other/crush/spouse/fuckbuddy with an entire box of donuts, they are obviously cheating on you. There is no other explanation.

Next time I pick up a dark erotic thriller that was free on amazon, talk me out of it.

Well, I have to rate this one a little lower than the rest, as I was somewhat disappointed with the lack of "romance" time the hero and heroine had in this particular installment. I might be being nit picky as this is a darker romance, and the over all storyline is quite dark. I just would have liked to seen more of Luke/Hansel and Leah/Gretal have more time where he wasn't fighting his feelings for her. In saying that though, the rest of the story really did keep my intrigue all of the way to the end. Believe me, the reveals kept coming, and there was a doozy even by the 90% area!!! So this story didn't lack for excitement, secrets, and of course kinky sex!

All in all, it was a great serial series, and I will be thinking of Luke and Leah for some time. What they had endured over time was horrific and sad, but at least they had each other while living in hell. After reading this, I found that I have a lot more positive things to say about Ella James and her writing. Her other series, The Beast, I couldn't get into; but this definitely was way worth the read. I felt somewhat cheated though at the end, as I felt the HEA to be somewhat rushed. On the whole, this series would get a solid four stars from me. I will check out more of this author's work in the future after reading this series!

This whole series is implausible, but this ending truly takes the cake. (Gimme my cake back, this book can't have it). It goes into the realm of "riiiiiggghhhht, tell me more about how you created Post Its."

So, this concludes this whole fucked up story of kidnapping, abuse, s&m, dom/sub, child molestation, murder, etc. Now while all of this is craziness, what really made me go "oh come on, now that's ridiculous" is Hansel's various occupations and ventures beyond the Enchanted Forest. . It's all too much. It's like the author decided to give Hansel some winning aspects outside of his fuckery and it makes no sense. I say he's too whack in the head to do it.

So this fourth book lays it all out, all is revealed, yadda yadda. You learn the how's and whys of Hansel & Leah ending up with Mother, their escape, etc. And Hansel's other secret. Way too implausible. This book would've made a better ending with Hansel not being as ass to Leah.

Maybe this was done to illustrate how fucked up Leah's psyche was, but damn if her personality doesn't crash up and down. She's an obsessed sex doll in book 1&2, crazy harridan in book 3, then she's a shy weeping willow in this book? Ugh. Hansel is mainly a crazy and self destructive asshole the whole way through and rings the alarm for PTSD. Leah's inconsistent personality was annoying.

And I'm done. Mystery all revealed and I'm deleting this from my brain. Boom. Time for a new book.

As Leah and Luke enter the house where they were both held captive all the truths are going to be exposed. The links to the past are all revealed as the pain surfaces. The conclusion of this story, the players – the pieces... well it all comes together, but in such an explosive way.

I am just going to state for the record that Ella James is the new queen of ass-play. Each of her erotic serials has included this, but this series reached a new level of hotness with the way that Leah took Luke on. The way she forced him to give up control and feel pleasure without the bite of pain. But beyond the sex (which if you didn’t catch – was hotter than fuck) the story of Hansel was so far beyond my expectations. Erotic and twisted. She pushed herself and gave us one helluva dark romance that was cloaked in mystery and she made us wait until the very end to give us all the answers.

I can’t get enough of this theme of serials from her.

☆☆☆☆ 4 Need You Stars ☆☆☆☆

In Part 4, the Hansel series finale, secrets and lies are finally revealed. We find out why Hansel aka Luke has the demons he does inside.

Luke's heartbreaking childhood is tied closely with Leah aka Gretel, only she never knew this. She never knew that her abduction was tied to Luke. His guilt and inner guilt was all because if the hand he had in hurting Leah.

As Leah finds out how Luke was involved in her abduction, nothing changes her feelings for him. Whether or not he was involved, Leah loves Luke. She has to make him understand.

 photo PicsArt_1442155952332_zpsxkziinnq.jpg

Once again, Leah is fighting against Luke and his demons and guilt of not deserving Leah.

The secrets of the past collide with present day and Luke unleashes his guilt of past in a full blown tirade.

Leah steps away to help Luke heal emotionally and physically. When she returns, she finds Luke with some happiness. As they reunite, a little drama unfolds and I have to admit....this ending...well....

I was left a little disappointed, hence the 4 star ending. I can't really pinpoint my disappointment, I just felt blah by it.

Overall, fantastic series

This is why serials drive me fuckin crazy!!! I've got numerous problems with this series. I liked this one probably the most of the series, but it is full of flaws. Editing is nonexistent, the story has holes, facts don't line up, and there are questions left unanswered.

Final book and i'm not sure if i am 100% fullfilled, by the turn the story took. Well many turns and twists to be precise. But still..

Even darker than the previous, this installment explains -finally- many vague points and situations.. For example how damaged Luke really became by "Mother's" revolting acts.

We also have the chance to explore more of Leah and Luke's past but sadly not their first time together, which was something i hoped i to read in more details. The first half is excruciatingly amazing, filled with tension, passion and secrets.

But the rest is a huge overload. My mind boggled and i still don't know how to feel about a particular secret. The main revelations though were incredible and i couldn't but see the fiarytale connection again.

I also loved Hansel's steady transformation to Luke. But i missed the unique bond those two shared when they were teens. Additionally i was waiting for more to be explored in the "House", but what happened there was deeply heartwrenching reallly. I was on the verge of tears all the time.

So overall it was such an alluring storyline with some little faults and a few misconception. Vauge at points and really sentimental. I hope the epilogue Ella James wrote, will give us a better, not so rushed ending.

THOUGHTS ABOUT THE BOOK

- I liked Echo's presence. It really made sense.
- The series needs a proper epilogue.
- Sadly the lack of communication was vast. And that is only Hansel's fault.
- Dual POV.
- Overall a great series.
- Many Flashbacks.
- Is Kinsley's age correct?
- Leah was really stronge and helped Luke so immensely.

A solid 4 star read.

While the ending was slightly anti-climactic ... I really enjoyed the series as a whole. I would have liked just a little bit more at the end. I felt like things were cut a bit short after so much build up.
I adored these characters. Both were so strong ... Luke seemed impossibly messed up, but so F'ing loveable underneath it all ... And Leah was so strong and devoted. A perfect pair!

My second serial by this author. I look forward to more.

well,, FUCK my curiosity.

the way he abused. THE WAY HE ABUSED. viagras, pills, alcohols...

everytime i read about him, i want to cry, or punch something, or idk.

i hate about him that he want leah cuz she look like shelly.

I hate about everything.

the way he falling apart. i fall with him again. i can't explain dis but i love monsters. monsters like luke. not like cousing troubles, having troubles, not giving pain, the pain it ownself.
i "love" dark books like dis. not like cheating, when saying i love you, not like hitting and loving that when fucking her. not like sharing her with others in bed when saying her you are mine and its just pleasure. not RAPING her when saying your pussy is mine.

I think dis book not too dark. really. for example if coho was wrote dis in own style it will be the greatest romance with drama.

I'm not getting in psychology that both of them have. in fact i don't want. i know why she only want Hansel and didn't ever give up. i know but whatever.

ending is a mess. why the FUCK he didnt say the words that i love you! he said himself but whhhyyyyy!
this series need one more book and I'm not talking about happy ending. but i need to them happy, happy but half idk.

i said when she come he doesn't need pain for pleasure anymore.

I friggin' love this ending! I think it's the perfect conclusion to Hansel/Luke and Leah's story. You're given all the pieces of the puzzle to make it all fit in your head. I felt every inch of Luke's pain. I appreciated how Leah got him and never gave up. And I loved the heat between these 2!

There's a curve ball or 2 thrown in and it just made me love Luke even more...

Totally satisfied with how this ended, can you tell? Hah!

Ella James packs quite a punch into this last book of the four part serial. We get a lot of answers to the mysterious past surrounding Luke and Leah as well as a lot of surprises I didn't see coming.
Overall I felt the series was well written, interesting and unusual enough to keep me engaged.
If you enjoy dark, twisted and erotic books, I highly recommend this series!!

Giving 5 stars because overall for the 4 parts they were fab. I am convinced the 4 will be rolled into 1 book.

I casually checked out my twitter feed on Wednesday night and sqeeeeeed out loud that Hansel 4 was live. How much could I devour before bed time? The answer was loads.

I was right about Shelley, of course I was - call me Sherlock.

Mother Goose is a mean, disgusting excuse for a woman - who deserved a rotten end. Bitch, I would kill you myself if Lucas has not beaten me to it.

Sweet, sweet Leah, I wanted so much for her to find happiness. Lucas just needed to let his inner good guy come out. Patience is a virtue Karen, hold your horses Ella won't let you down. He will come with donuts on!

Talking about horses, I could get on my high horse and pass comment about American social services/unrealistic adoption placement, but it's a book. If it was totally like real life it wouldn't be very entertaining - and this was. Horses held.

So Jack and the Beanstalk next then?

For all the information that was giving to the reader this really should had been much longer. It ended so dang quickly and just wasn't written well. I mean we find out he has adopted a son (book 3) but there is absolutely no interactions between him and the son. Her mother comes to her and tells her she needs to be honest about what really happened. But guess what we don't get that conversation. I felt 100% cheated. And of course we find out he had a daughter with "Mother" but that's just thrown at us. We don't get to really get a feel for it. And I just can't help but what the hell with "Boy Blue". This felt rushed and unfinished.

I was on the verge of giving the conclusion of this serial three stars, because I was able to find a few things I liked about this portion of story, but then things just got batshit and enraging. What set me off?

A kid named Echo who appears out of the blue that Hansel/Edgar/Luke has been fostering but eventually adopted because Echo was an inner-city kid who's mother was a crack addict. LOL, WHAT??? He has a nanny named Hally who’s Southern... WHY??? WHY???? This came literally out of nowhere!

I couldn't help but scream out loud, ”Are you serious right now?” while reading. Also, Leah says Echo couldn't have possibly been Hansel’s biological child because he was ”dark.”

Yeah, apparently she's not clear on how genetics work. 😐

I had to walk away. 90% be damned. The fact that this ”dark fairy tale” has so many glowing reviews when the plot is all over the place, and the author projects some interesting tidbits into her writing tells me I was not the target audience for this serial. I'm definitely into dark reads, give me a fairy tale spin, and I'm in it to win it, but when you throw in absurdity and a dash of racism into the mix, I tap out.

The crazy part is so many readers probably glossed over this without batting an eye.

Come check out the reviews on my blog Under The Cover

I’ll be honest, I sort of expected more of this series. Not that I didn’t enjoy it, because I did, but I started it expecting more out of it.

“I hate that this is your story. I’d do anything to change it.”

The last part of Hansel and Leah’s story answered all my questions and like I thought it would, some of the revelations were definitely twisted, and then some. On that level, the book did it for me. Some of the stuff that happened to Luke and Leah you expect but some other were really surprising and made for very interesting twists in the story.

“It’s fate…Because it brought me you. You are my fate.”

But I guess what I expected more from was the connection between Luke/Hansel and Leah. I really liked their connections as kids when they were both captives of Mother and the bond they created then. And this book made it clear why their bond at the time was so strong, especially for Luke, considering his story and relationship with Mother. But the present day Luke and Leah didn’t really do it for me. I really looked forward for this bond they had when they were both captives to resurface when they saw each other again, but it never really did.

And it felt like Leah was looking for this connection she had with Luke back when they were young in the Luke she meets again ten years later but never finds it. It felt like she clung to this idea of Hansel she kept for all those years and won’t face that her Hansel has changed, or more so, is still traumatized by what he went through in the House and still feels guilty over a lot of things. He definitely left part of himself in this house.

“All you have to have is half.” she whispers.
“What?”
“You’re only half,” she murmurs, looking up into my eyes. “If you put two of us together, baby, all we need is half to make a whole.”

I really felt like they couldn’t communicate with each other, much like in book #3, and that was frustrating considering that was what got them so close to begin with. I missed this connection they had as kids and seem they couldn’t find as adults.

So even though the plot was really original and good in a very twisted way, I didn’t feel the connection between Luke and Leah as much as I would have liked and that made me feel not connected to them in the present time story they were living.

~*Review by Jodie Rae*~

This is the fourth and final installment in the Hansel Erotic Fairytale novella series. This series is as far from a fairy tale than anything. The story is intense, dark, raw, and passionate. I started to read book four and I was kind of lost. So I started on book one and let me just say, I devoured this series! I stayed up late reading this amazing series and I still crave for more. Let's start off with a review of all four books. The story is of Hansel (Luke) and Gretel (Leah) and takes over a period of ten years through the use of flashbacks. The book is told in dual point of view and you get to see what happened in the lives of Luke and Leah, how they met, the time they spent with Mother, and how they are doing ten years from the time with Mother. Let's talk about Mother for second, she had a house that she would keep children, like a foster parent. Luke and Leah were held captivate by her and they relied on each other to find comfort. Mother named her children, fairy tale names. Hence, the name of where Hansel and Gretel came into play.

The final installment of Hansel that gives us the completion of the series. Ella James keeps the readers engaged with this series. The cliffhangers in each book keep you wondering and wanting more! I am so glad I was able to enjoy all four books in one setting! I am looking forward to reading more from this author and also checking out the past Erotic Fairytale series!

Weird twisty non-linear psychological story about a boy and girl that are taken by a crazy woman who dubs herself Mother Goose and calls them Hansel and Gretel. The story starts when Hansel breaks, killing Mother and rescuing Gretel and all the other captive children. Luke (Hansel) and Leah (Gretel) go their separate ways. Time passes. In the present, Leah is in Vegas celebrating her sister's nuptials. For the bachelorette party they go to a sex club to watch the elusive club owner perform a BDSM act onstage. Edgar the club owner is Hansel.

Leah lost her virginity to Hansel the day he killed Mother and freed them both. Since then, she's never been in a relationship, she's long seared for Hansel, the one boy who made her feel safe. Luke, on the other hand is a Dom who is a closet masochist, needing pain to come. His love life is a series of relationships with subs that all superficially resemble Leah, so he can pretend he has the one girl he's always wanted.

Fascinating story. All the sex between Leah and Luke is kinky but consensul. The non-con tag is for the twisted relationship between Hansel and Mother.

Firstly I have to take my hat off to Luke for managing to cum 7 times in one night! The man is, quite obviously, a machine!!

All the secrets of his past come to light. I learned a lot about what makes Luke tick, yet still I hardly know anything about Leah and that's a shame to get to the end and feel like I really don't know her at all.

The ending was rubbish...a real cop out. I kept swiping my kindle to turn the page thinking there's no way the author has ended it as bluntly as this, but yep she has. And because of the ending, I dropped a star.

All in all, this would have made a really good book if all 4 parts were combined into a full size novel. But I would still say I would recommend it to read.

I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Where do I start?! Ella delivered with the entire Hansel series. There are some intense moments between the two Hansel/Luke/Edgar & Leah/Gretel. They were throw together in a dark place where neither wanted to be or needed to be. They are thrown back together in the unlikeliness of situations and there is a darkness in both that only each of them can shed light on. Secrets are revealed and the twists and bends in the road reveal things neither were ready for. Ella has a way of keeping wanting to know what's going to happen next. The emotional ride you go on is intensely sad one minute, worry the next, happy, and all in between. Great conclusion to the series. Would actually love to see what happens later in life for these 2.

I liked it.

Was it worth the over 8 dollars I ended up paying for the four parts?

I don't know. I guess I enjoyed reading it, and it took me longer to read than a movie. And I must say it was much better than a lot of the other serials that are running around out there.

Everything is revealed, but I felt it needed an Epilogue. It just seemed to end pretty quickly.
