"Something seems to be the matter with me these days."
* I purchase all of my manga. The pics used in this review are from google images.

I've found a solid series:) Komomo starts off with all the tropes and cliches we all know and love/hate and uses them in a way that works. Naive princess? Make her a sadistic poor girl learning the ways of life and discovering what true friendship, love, and happiness is. All without her being annoying, whiny, or infuriating.

The love interest can't be really categorized. Natsu is drawn to look mysterious, sexy, and capable. But he has a temper, a sadistic side, a caring side, is in complete denial, and still is a mystery. There's so much that has left to be seen of Natsu and who he is and UGH I need to know!!

Rise and Yuri are two side characters who are entertaining. Yuri is a womanizer but the moment someone touches his food, be goes BESERK. Rise is the prissy mean girl from volume 1 that turns out to become Komomo's best friend. The two girls have a hilarious bonding moment and really promotes a strong friendship. This is what we need in shojo. Not girl hate, but appreciation. All of us are going through difficult times so why not support each other?

This is in no way groundbreaking or AMAZING. I just am so glad to find such a positive series. Even when Komomo starts hating on the girlfriend of Seto, she quickly pushes those thoughts away because she knows that these nasty feelings are her fault. Not the girlfriend. And she does everything she can to bring them happiness.

Guys, pick up a copy of volume 1. Give it a go and you might be pleasantly surprised. It won't blow you away but it certainly will make you laugh, get the feels, and it's just adorable and girl power friendly without cheesiness. I love it.

Another exceptional volume in this series!

Until the end that is. -_-

Can't say why because of spoilers, but ugh, I just want to push a character out the book ASAP.

*coughs* Anyway, as I was saying…

So yes, I continue to love this series because of what Komomo learns. I feel it's rare for me to be more invested into the actual protagonist than the couple being together.

That's not to say I don't like the romance though! If any volume thus far makes one want to really cheer for the romance, it's definitely this one! And I HAVE been cheering for it, but Komomo is such a fun character to watch grow. She's so different from who she was in volume one and just can't get over how much she learns and grows. She is very compelling in wanting to cheer for her, especially due to some sad things that take place in this volume.

And as always, the art is absolutely stunning!

A really good volume and hoping that a said character gets out the picture quickly!

This is the best volume yet! The story keeps getting better and I'm loving it so much. This one starts off with Komomo wanting to make a meal for Seto because all he ever eats is a 'cucumber sandwich' and since she has this huge crush on him, she wants him to have more. So she works on trying to figure out what she could make for him when she finds out that he has a girlfriend. It breaks her heart. It hurts her even more when she finds out that Seto and his girlfriend broke up and he's not happy anymore. So she makes a plan to get him and his girlfriend back together.

Rise gets angry at her for not telling about her heartbreak and then gets angry at her while trying to cheer her up at the same time. Komomo feels better after that because while she lost her first love, she still has her best friend.

Natsu gives Komomo a task, she has to create what item they will serve at the upcoming festival and she takes her job seriously and she comes up with a cute idea and then he also gives her the task to create the sign for the dish. She also goes this too. But she starts to wonder if Netsu has someone he loves after seeing him kiss her wish candy. Right when she is about to ask him, Noelle, appears. Who is Noelle? We shall have to read the next volume to find out!

Netsu isn't creepy in this one volume, he's starting to be a character that I love and Komomo is still has cute and sweet and clueless as ever. I can't wait to read the next one! I think that Komomo is finally starting to realize her feelings for Netsu.

This is one of those series that just has to grow on me. Because now I'm really enjoying it and I definitely was rooting for our leading lady and Natsu but that ending has me so confused. If this is who I think it is I'm going to be so upset. I just hope that everything works out considering the series is only two more volumes which I will be finishing in the next couple of days. If you haven't picked up this series yet I would definitely recommend it.

Once I'd picked this up from the library, I didn't hesitate to read it on the way home. As the sucker I am, I loved looking at the sketches and details of the pastries and confections on every page. And I wasn't disappointed with how Komomo has grown as a character. Truly a caring dreamer that has no boundaries of seeking out happiness for herself and others. I'm hoping some details in the plot will be explained within the next two volumes. This was just as lovely to read as the earlier books.

Komomo is experiencing so much about life now that she's working for a living and having to take care of herself. But she still misses the obvious in so many things. While I love her kindness in seeing to other people's happiness despite her own broken heart, she really is very unaware of her own emotions and what they mean. I do like how she relates to others in such a pure and simple way though, which makes me keep reading even if this whole series feels a little weird in how people react to each other.

I’m so proud of my girl... Komomo’s growing and learning... she’s such a sweetheart....
Obviously, I loved this volume but the ending!?!????
Who’s this little hoochie trying to encroach on my girl’s territory???!

Ugh typical shojo drama as usual. That’s not going to stop me from reading more though! Haha!

Ah, so finally *her* rival appears… Continues to be weird, but I have to say I’m a sucker for whatever is going on with his feelings toward Komomo.

~4/5

I’m honestly surprised with the maturity in this series.

Komomo realizes that she’s dealing with her first love, and is upset when she first realizes that he has a girlfriend and that he’s moving away. And while this hurts her at first, she doesn’t bother with that for very long. Instead, she decides to fix things between the couple when they break up, even if it hurts her as well. And she does it so well, too.

Then Komomo has a friendship moment with Rise, as Rise tries to help Komomo get over her broken heart without really admitting to doing that. Their friendship is both hilarious and perfectly fitting both of them. They’re odd, and they get each other.

And of course we’re left with a cliffhanger regarding Natsu. I’m anticipating him finally admitting to his feelings for Komomo, which I’m hoping will be hilarious and adorable in normal Minami fashion, but it’ll probably be another volume before we see that.

Still, absolutely loving this series. It’s hilarious and adorable and mature and crazy. And the sweets look so delicious. I can’t wait for more.

Oooooo that ending! Komomo has been gaining a lot of life experience in this series and volume three sees her going through heartbreak for the first time. It’s painful for her but she handles it well with the help of her school friend Rise (who I’d say is my favourite character), Natsu and Yuri at the patisserie. The main characters have definitely grown on me as I previously wasn’t too sure about my feelings towards Komomo and Natsu, but the secondary characters have been fun additions from their introductions. This series has never failed to make me crave sweets as the confectioneries depicted look delicious! It’s the halfway point and Komomo Confiserie is shaping up to be a comfy and sweet shojo that follows all the tried and true tropes. It’s not the most original but it’s an enjoyable romance nonetheless!

This was a much better volume than the previous one. Maki Minami has hit her stride both in art and storytelling. Although I find it hard to believe a rich, sheltered girl wouldn't be able to recognize love when she feels it for the first time, we all do have our first time, and it isn't entirely clear at first what we are experiencing. Perhaps the comical way the scene was handled felt false to me. I also am not sure what to make of head patting. I can't see it as romantic. It feels patronizing to me. This must be a cultural thing. Aside from those downsides, the characters were bright and defined in this volume. Komomo as a person is turning out to be a great human being. I'm glad that Maki has left the predictable caricatures behind. My daughter is going to love this volume.

The adventures of the super genuine and sweet Komomo continue. This time, Komomo has love troubles and later has fun trying to design stuff.

If you've read previous volumes, you know what you're in for. It's still sweet and fresh and a little goofy, so it's a fun read.

Another INCREDIBLY cute volume!!! Komomo is officially one of my favorite protagonists. She's super sweet, protective of her friends, and is the perfect blend of childlike naivety without being super annoying because for it. P.S. still shipping Komomo × Natsu!!!!
