Young Ma Go-eun and her father are about to be evicted from the haunted house they've run throughout the years. But Go-eun is not about to let the park owner demolish their haunted house and her memories of her childhood and her mother. She resolves to go to the United States to surpass trials and get a million dollar cash prize awarded to those who can survive a stay in Ghost Jack's House.
This is probably the best romance story I've ever read. My heart ached so much throughout all of it. The plot is amazing and there are so many twists. The characters are twisted and beautiful, I loved it. The first chapters fooled me, it was kinda scary and I found myself wondering about the 'romance' genre tagged into it. Anyway, it's really romance. And a beautiful one, that is. If you don't really like romance, don't worry, this book has more than that. It's thrilling and intriguing. You'll find yourself wanting to know more about the characters' backstory and everything. They're all imperfect and broken and the authors made sure we'd want to know more about them, thus we'd keep reading. And the graphic! They're WONDERFUL! I literally applauded the authors because of the characters' developments. They're exquisite and subtle, and that's what makes it really good. And OH! Did I tell you I loved the heroine? Nope, I didn't, did I? She was AMAZING. She was strong and tough and everything I want myself to be. She wasn't afraid of anything (well, almost), she NEVER flinched when there was a ghost right in front of her. And her lack of fear just made me fearless throughout the book. I mean, the characters weren't even scared, so why should I?
I finished this in one sitting. Probably in about 6 hours because of the slow connection I have in the middle of the night. And I cried, SO. MANY. TIMES. Not sure it was because I was too sleepy or sad, though. Probably a bit of both.
Now, I'm totally gonna recommend this to all my friends. While patiently waiting for the next season to be released in English. (The Korean version is out, and I'm just here using google translate to understand it)
Seriously man, I did not expect this to be this good of a horror read for 64 chapters (yes I know this is just only season 1). It felt like I was Watching a Tim Burton/Black Butler movie while reading this manhwa. Jack, Go Eun and the rest of the characters (Cindy, Aiden, Sebastian) were all very much interesting characters to join in their ghostly journeys throughout.
I wouldn't call this manhwa thrilling but goddamn man, it is so intense and addictive that you are dying to read more.
Very good read, hope season 2 doesn't turn out to be rubbish!
I don't know that I can write a synopsis for this. It's just...wow, intense. I don't normally like horror, but this is so beautifully made, psychologically intense, and it is a great HEA romance as well. The idea behind the bad-guy is REALLY cool. (Be sure to read series 1 and 2 or you won't get a complete ending. I read on mangarock.com, be sure to find, buy, and support the author even if you read it there!) Edit-Just learned mangarock may be stealing scans and unethically getting money through their nasty adds, so maybe look for it on mangadex or anywhere else that isn't messed up.
I love the art, the setting, the story, the characters and just everything about this manga. The book has a melancholic touch to it, actually its filled of it. It's an onslaught of sadness, agony, lost, desperation and just a lot of emotion that I was bursting at the seams. The sense of loneliness and sadness was so profound that it touched me to the core, it was raw and so beautiful. I don't know if I should hope for a happy ending or just accept that this book would probably have a tragic finish.
This series was gorgeous! I was hoping the ending would not be too happy, it was a perfect ending for the series. I do wish Sebastian had been tied up a little better, he was such an interesting character. I wonder if he is inspired by Sebastian from Black Butler? It also gave off Phantom of the Opera vibes. I really love the relationship dynamic and the horror elements. This is my first horror romance and I hope to find more!
I just finished reading this and it is beautiful! Does anyone know if there is a printed version of this book? Reading it online was fine but I would love to read it in graphic novel book form.
I came here and created an account because I needed to talk about how absolutely amazing this manga is! I can't even explain how much I loved it. I stayed up half the night reading it and couldn't wait until work was over so I could finish it. Even after the first main story arc is concluded the second isn't a huge let down or a carbon copy of the first. I can't recommend this manga enough!
