This was a free ebook from buckbooks. It is inspiring and has a lot of good ideas and is a short, quick read.
He talks about some of his life experiences. In a previous life (as I say it) I lived in an exotic, international world where I had lots of servants and drivers. I asked one of my maids one day if she wanted me to buy her a wardrobe to put in her room. I had noticed that her outfits hung on a hook on the back of the door. She said, no. When I explained that she had worked hard, and I was happy to buy her something to reward her, she expanded, if I have a wardrobe, I will get things.
Ah.
And in a way, I get it. She could move house by packing one bag. She had two pairs of shoes and four dresses and some things that fitted in a drawer and that was it. And she was happy.
It blew her mind that I had so much stuff and could still remember what I owned. I noticed when things disappeared. That happens sometimes when you have staff.
Cole talks about how we should pay less attention to things and more to what makes us happy. I’ve already learned that lesson. Spend less time feeling ashamed that we didn’t tick stuff off our to-do list and take note of what we did achieve that day. It’s mostly about the power of the mind.
