Wow, this was my first read by Kyoshi and throughout the book, she tugged on my heartstrings.

Kaylen is a young girl when she has the first encounter with Black. He seems like the perfect gentleman, and treats her as such, until his real personality comes shining through. Kaylen allows Black to take her through hell. He cheats on her, disrespects, but most of all he beats her. She knows that she isn't in a healthy relationship, but she her love makes her stay until Rico comes to her rescue.

Rico turns out to be an unlikely ally. He is one of a few people who helps Kaylen out. But will his help be enough?

Kaylen's past dictates her outlook on what loves look like. Can she break this generational curse or will it break her? Can she finally find the happiness that she is so desperately seeking, or will the pressures of life become unbearable?

Take a ride with Kaylen and she how her story turns out!

I loved Kaylen's journey how despite the fact that she went through 2 abusive relationships she managed to come back stronger than ever.

It starts off with her at the age of 13 as she watches her mother being abused by her father so she thinks that's what love is supposed to be like.

At 16, she meets twenty-three year old Black and he takes her away from the hell and drama of her parents household only to find out Black is the devil in disguise in that time frame she meets Rico who helps her escape from Black for good.

She attends college and then meets Julian (not knowing he's not a good guy.) Kaylen's story had me in tears at some parts but in love with most of it.

If women are in a domestic violence situation now LEAVE NOW this book is for you I'd totally recommend this book to any woman who is going through this situation or is a survivor of domestic violence it's time to break the cycle of abuse.

2015 - First book completed in the new year, Love Is Blind by Kyoshi. The story was ok. The message the author was trying to convey was good. Domestic abuse is not ok. But it could have been better. I just do not like materialism. I would love to read a book where the redeeming factor was a regular 9-5, working class person without the emphasis of material items. Especially with characters being the ages of mid 20's. It gives the image of "prince charming" as someone who can afford the better things in life. Because of this many women can miss out because the prince charming may not have it like that. He may have a very modest income or lifestyle, and still be that Man for a lady. The emphasis shouldnt be on the high life but on having a wonderful, fulfilling one.

What a touching story. Kaylan is a young lady who goes through so much, but manages to come out on top. I always hope that these type of stories will reach someone who needs to hear the message that if someone is abusing you try to get out of the situation.

Absolutely Great read

I was once a victim of domestic violence. There was two times that I just knew he was going to suffocate me to death. Those were the scariest moments of my life. I have lost ones to domestic violence and I am still watching some love ones go through it. I am currently in a relationship where domestic violence doesn't exist. To say this story really touched my heart is an understatement. I shelters as I read this book. I read this book in 4 hours...that show good it was.

Emotional wreck!

It's hard for me reading this book because it's dealing with lot of drama and emotional. I'm almost cry for this book because I felt bad what's happen to Kaylen and the rest of females in this book.

Love is Blind is a great read. This is my first time reading from Kyoshi. Kyoshi did a good job. I enjoyed reading this book because it's well written. I'm looking forward to read another book from this author.

Nice Read & Good job!

This book broke my heart in the beginning and middle but made me happy in the end. So many women young and old deal with abusive men and never make it out. I hope someone who's going through this reads this book and gets the courage to choose to leave a bad situation.

So it was by no means perfect, and if I went on writing alone it would get two stars, but the message was clear. This was a powerful book about dealing with abuse.

I've been through it. I've been through abuse, and I could relate so many times to her. I found myself involved with abusive men, four abusive men in a ROW. I thought I deserved it, I thought that this was my karma my luck. I'd find a new guy and I was so broken I was so happy to finally be 'loved' that when he started putting hands on me I was so trodden down I thought... well this is it. This is my life.

I can't tell you how depressing it can become. I can't tell you how awful and disgusted and just done you feel. Eventually they don't have to really FORCE you to do anything, you just give up, you just lay there, you take it, and you try to pretend it's all okay.

I was so depressed that the only thing I could feel WAS pain. So I craved the abuse, just so I could feel something other then numb. I am happy I got free, but it is a VERY hard journey.

I'm happy I don't see anyone in the reviews saying WHY DIDNT SHE JUST LEAVE. If you've been through this type of thing, there is so much more to it than that. SO much more.

I do think it skimmed over things a bit much. It should have been more detailed and not just basically noting all the times of abuse, but I suppose it read somewhat like she was telling a story of what she had been through so she clearly wasn't going to write it into a perfect story. It skipped large chunks here and there which bothered me.

But I have to say it kept me interested, and I read it quickly in one sitting. Afterwards I was upset, thinking of my own past, but I was happy that she made it through. I have helped people get out of these situations even though I had nobody to help me. Be strong, and ask for help.

And truly you do have to be ready to leave, to leave. It doesn't matter what anyone says to you. Your mind becomes somewhat delusional and you feel so broken. You have to snap yourself out of it.

My heart goes out to everyone who has experienced this. And thank you to the author for putting this out, making us feel like we aren't alone, and we can be strong.

I'm not go make this all about me but just know I went through this at 17 and now I'm a survivor also. I also know of the poem I Got Flowers Today. It also helped me. Ladies know your worth. You don't deserve this. You are no one's property. If you don't get out for yourself at least do it for your child. This book hit home for me more than you can imagine author Kyoshi. I'm your new reader Dee Dee. I'll be looking out for more of your books. Thanks for writing this. Maybe some young lady will read this and realize there's hope for her also. Even though its just a book it's still based off real life situations.

I am surprised that this book has received so many positive reviews! I like the baseline of the story; living through and surviving domestic violence and it's certainly a brilliant way of exposing the abuse that goes on behind so many closed doors throughout the world. I like books that can assist others and offer support and encouragement to those dealing with the real thing. That's where the positives end. The book was poorly written and clearly wasn't edited and it was written how the author might speak rather than revised so that it actually made sense! I also didn't like how the author portrays the main character as someone raised in an unsteady and perhaps poverty-ridden environment yet the author would constantly go into extreme detail about the outfits she and Rico (and various other characters from time to time) would wear; Gucci this, Prada that etc. designer clothing and accessories are extremely expensive and don't fit into the setting of the rest of the book! Nor are they relevant to the storyline - it drove me insane how materialistic details like this made the character out to be! I also found that the clothing would be described in intense detail yet other more vital aspects of the book were simply rushed over (I.e when she was locked in the cupboard for 3 days, when it was discovered Rico murdered someone etc.) - all vital details that provoked so many follow-up questions that were simply skimmed over! The book was poorly written, poorly revised and poorly executed! Shocking. I won't be reading this author again and I am embarrassed that I bothered to finish reading this one!

Good message but could have been written better

I liked the message about domestic violence that the author tried to give, but the story structure was way off. This book could have ended at the 40% mark. It seemed like two different books in one.

***Spoiler alert****

Some of the scenes and characters were unrealistic. The male characters were either demonized or feminine. What man sleeps in the bed with a girl he is interested in for years and never tries to make a move? Too bizarre. And the main character was frustrating because she never stood up for herself!

I'm not going to lie--I couldn't put down the book. The author kept the drama going and it was edited pretty decent, grammar and punctuation wise, compared to most books in this genre, but it really needed to be edited for structure and realism. I had to suspend belief to finish reading. The ending could have been summed up in a few paragraphs, instead of several drawn out chapters.

And what was up with all of the song lyrics? For a book not about musicians it seemed irrelevant and annoying.

But the author is promising, and I look forward to her other books. She is one of the better ones in the genre. She just needs a good editor.

Loved it!!!

This was a great book, what caught my eye was the cover of the book then once I started reading I couldn't stop. This was my first book I read by Kyoshi but I'm going to read her other 2 books she has out. I don't want to say much (although I could :-)) but I don't want to ruin the story for anyone. I will say this is a great story for many woman to read. A lot more woman than we think have dealt with domestic violence or are still dealing with it and this book may be that wake up call that one woman needs to see that there is life outside that horrendous life that they think is love. Great story Kyoshi, hope to see your name on many more books in the upcoming year!!!

Love Is Blind for All To See, WOW!

I am almost at a loss for words, which is a NEVER for me. Kyoshi wrote from her heart without a doubt and kept domestic violence real. I don't know that I have EVER read a book that wasn't fiction that covered the topic as fully and completely, pulling out all the stops, as this one did. If this is not a testament of gigantic proportions to send out a message of encouragement, love and strength, I don't know what is. I realize that it takes more than reading a book for those in this situation, but it is certainly a place to begin and a factual encounter that has to at least serve as an eye opener. BE STRONG MY SISTAH,S AND CHOOSE TO LIVE. Peace and mercy always.

Happy at last

In reading I felt sorry for Kay, because she never found the happiness she was looking for. It takes awhile to realize your self worth when you've been made to feel worthless, but once she found her self worth....... the sky was the limit. She saw the reason God wasn't ready for her, she still had work too do...... love her self, so she would knew how to give and received love, which she did. I also thought SJ &Rico was going too jail, every time I turned the page I didn't think Kay would find a happy ending....... Thank you for allowing Kay too find her Prince Charming.

I have to say author Kyoshi nailed this read. Once I started reading there was no chance of me putting I down. I read this book straight through.I don't want to give too much info away, but this turbulent relationship between kaylen and black was horrific and only to leave one bad relationship to go into an even worse one. I could relate to son of this story being in an abusive relationship. But Rico was my hero. Thumbs up Kyoshi. But I do wish we could have found out more about black and her best friend relationship.

Nothing short of AMAZING

I recommend Every woman read this book. Young. Older. And every age in between. I fell in love with all the characters. Rico is the definition of a real man, and Kaylen (kk) finally woke up and realized her Prince charming before it was to late. Even though it took her forever. The book was simply well written and hard to put down. This book is such a good read that I stopped reading half way thru and started searching to see if there was a sequel. No sequel but tell ending was satisfying to me.

This is a book that I'm going to have to pass around. I lost a friend and her unborn child to domestic violence September 2012 and this book has me thinking about here. I truly miss her but that and this is an eye opener that this is more problematic than we think it is. Women learn your worth and find your strength! You don't have to settle, and you don't need a man to life you until you can love yourself... God never gives you what you can't bear. Start blessed y'all!

This was a great book!!!

Truly a testimony! Wow! I was a little hesitant to read this book because I didn't want to relive the life I had. I grew up in a battered home and my father was exactly like hers. When I became a woman I ran in to the same type of man my father was. I dealt with the abuse for years until I made up in my mind I had leave or I was going to die. A guy that was friends with was helping me through it and that guy is now my husband. The best man I've ever had in life!!! We have such similar stories!! Thanks for sharing!!!

This story was nothing short of remarkable. The storyline was a illustration of strength. Kaylee could have given up, but she had a awesome support system. Domestic violence is no joke and I takes a very strong person to overcome this type of abuse. I always have a favorite character in each book and it's definitely Rico. Anybody that can be patient and love a person beyond their hurt is really heaven sent. This is a must read. 5 stars definitely doesn't do this book any justice. Kyoshi thank you for this extraordinary read.
