After returning from an unexpectedly lengthy tour in Sectors 23 & 24, Captain Middleton and his crew discovered just how much had happened in their absence. Admiral Montagne, having dealt with the greatest pirate threat known to the Spineward Sectors in recent history, was less than enthusiastic about the circumstances surrounding the Pride of Prometheus’ return to headquarters.

However, given the sensitive — and potentially game-changing — nature of Middleton’s previous mission, the Pride of Prometheus’ Captain was ordered to complete that mission as quickly. But the state of the MSP’s human resources prompted Admiral Montagne to make a series of personnel transfers which could very well cripple the Pride’s ability to carry out her mission.

It will take some creative thinking to restock the ship with crew, deal with the battle damage she previously suffered, and get the ship back into fighting shape. But creative thinking is something which Middleton and his crew have become exceedingly good at, and before long the aged cruiser finds her bow pointed at the far side of Sector 24.

Unbeknownst to Middleton, interests with which he and crew recently became acquainted with have plans of their own for the Pride of Prometheus. Will Captain Middleton’s people be able to turn the tables on their adversaries yet again, or will the Pride of Prometheus finally show her age and falter?

With their backs to the wall, the Pride's crew discovers that the simplest course is often best...which is why Middleton and his people hit their enemies hard, fast, and straight up the middle.

Ever since I was young, I've enjoyed reading stories which spurred my imagination into overdrive. After helping my brother edit his own books, I decided it was time to give something back to the community which has inspired me.

Until recently I spent far too many nights rolling dice with friends and creating what I hope were myriad memorable campaigns. Now a father of four I have less time for such engagements, but that doesn't mean I can't share the fruits of my imagination with an eager crowd.

Here's hoping I can find a crowd of people who enjoy my stories as much as I do!

A very satisfying tale!

When a reader finds himself caring about the characters in a story, as if they are old friends, then the author has done more than just tell a story. The author has pulled the reader into the story. The reader is no longer just a passive consumer of verbiage, but an unseen and silent participant in all that goes on.

That was how I felt when I read this book. Each character was portrayed so well, their individual personality quirks and eccentricities were so honestly and consistently handled that they achieved a 3 dimensional image in my mind as I read. It was like watching a movie but from inside the movie itself, standing just to the side of the action.

I'm not going to describe the plot in this review. You can get that from the blurb that accompanies the story. No doubt, other reviewers will give you a summary as well of the action in this story. I am just going to leave you with this overall impression of the book. It was a damn good one! I can't wait to read the next one in the series.

A totally new line of direction

I have fully enjoyed reading this book, it continues the adventures of the Pride and her crew. I am looking forward to seeing what happens when she first finishes her next trip.

Peaks early then becomes a string of Fei Long giving the captain estimates of how long things will take as he commits himself to projects.

Still nothing revealed about why the Empire withdrew. Nothing new about the ongoing threat. Raubachs' master plan progresses. Mysterious new faction, Lynch, might solve or create new problems.
