Serpent's Kiss #1

Burning For Her Kiss

Rate this book
Beth Davenport has no interest in getting involved with another man for the foreseeable future. To say her last relationship ended in disaster would be a colossal understatement. The only reason she agrees to put in an appearance at Serpent’s Kiss, a private kink club in downtown St. Louis, is because her best friend, Nicole, won’t quit nagging her. When she walks in the door that night, the last thing she expects to do is meet a man who will have her reconsidering her ban on men.

As a captain with the St. Louis Fire Department, Drew Parker is used to being in charge. His crew relies on him to make sure they know what they’re doing and return home to their families after every shift. It isn’t, however, what he wants in a relationship. Drew decides to join Serpent’s Kiss to see if what appeals to him in fantasy is something he wants to explore in the real world. He’s also hoping that he’ll be lucky enough to meet a woman with whom he can explore his desires. The night Beth walks into the club, he is intrigued. Drew has to get to know her better.

After what happened to her, Beth is reluctant to get involved with Drew. It doesn’t matter that he is sweet and charming. She’s been burned before and Beth doesn’t think she can survive having her heart crushed again. Drew, however, won’t take no for an answer. He wants a relationship and is determined to chip away at her defenses until she relents. Will she give him a chance, or did her ex leave her with scars too deep to heal?

Sherri picked up her first romance novel when she was twelve and immediately she was hooked. She would stay up reading long after everyone else in her house had gone to bed, needing to see the hero and heroine get their happily ever after. But Sherri never imagined becoming an author.

At the age of thirty, all that changed. After getting frustrated with the direction a television show was taking two of its characters, Sherri decided to try her hand at writing an alternative ending to give the characters the happy ending they deserved.

Since then, writing has become a creative outlet that allows her to explore a wide range of emotions, while having fun taking her characters through all the twists and turns she can create. I honestly thought I was near the end when I realized that I was barely over halfway. Nope.

It’s boring, it’s repetitive, the writing style is all tell and no show. It reads like a very young and unskilled writers attempt. It needed a massive overhaul and professional editing. A lot of editing. A lot a lot. The story being told could’ve been a great novella.

This is a BDSM Romance, and this is the first book in the Serpent's Kiss series. I loved the characters. I loved getting to know the characters in this book. I loved the firehouse parts. I just felt the romance move too slowly at times and too fast at times. I just think the characters need to talk to each other more. It just drove me crazy think they where having a ton of sex, but they could not just talk to each other.

Gateway to BDSM readers, a new series is tailor made for you! Burning for Her Kiss is a good new series from talented Ms. Hayes. For those who are looking for more femdom books with loving and dominant females, pick this one up. Drew Parker is a responsible laden fire captain who can easily score with the ladies. After several years of serial dating with fire bunnies, he's tired of it. He wants a relationship with a woman he can share the rest of his life. One would think this would be easy for a great catch like Drew. There is just one little detail which makes the dating pool a bit smaller. Drew is a sexual submissive looking for a female dominant. Burned by his ex-girlfriend, Drew decides to search for a potential through a BDSM club, Serpent's Kiss.

After a month, newbie Drew is trying to take in all the exciting sights and spies upon a woman who seems to be known at the club. Perhaps he's found the woman to dominant him. Beth Davenport is a domme with baggage. Her last relationship breaks her through a terrible betrayal by her male submissive. Still smarting from his duplicity, she's in no mood to take on another submissive let alone date again.

Ms. Hayes pens a slow dance between these two characters. It's a sweet romance as Drew coaxes Beth to try out the dating pool again. Drew is an amicable guy who is easy to like and fall for because he's the nice guy. He saves lives and treats people with respect. Beth is a bit less engaging for me. Even though she is the older of the two, she comes across a bit younger in maturity. She's admirable with her own business but she's just not the type of person who interests me. Nor is she someone I'd bottom for because she lacks the command of a dominant. It's not that she isn't dominant or a wanna be dominant, it's just that her style doesn't match with mine and on a dominance scale, mine tops hers. Still, the dynamic between these two characters is heartwarming as Drew gently coaxes Beth into dating him.

From a story pace perspective, the book is a bit slow. This is a gradual build up to where the two finally admit to dating and share a kiss. From there the speed does pick up which is nice. There are a couple of tangent pieces to the story which I'm not sure are necessary. Perhaps it is used to set up the next book. The threads involving: Ben, Beth's ex-boyfriend showing up, Drew's brother Seth and Drew's friend Shawn didn't add to the story. For me, if they are cut out, it makes the writing tighter. I could have done without each of them.

The BDSM scenes in this story are decent. Beth's impact play as well as a bit of mind fuck with a knife is nice to read. It shows that Ms. Hayes is exploring more into the lifestyle to provide different scenes. The kinks are from light to medium in intensity. It's just right for those who enjoy the lighter side of BDSM yet want to spice it up a notch. For me personally, it was a bit tame and I couldn't really get into it. It's a personal preference. I did like the time set aside to discuss when one person has a hard limit whilst the other really enjoyed a kink. The way Ms. Hayes shows how to work through a negotiation is nice. This kinky book is recommended as a Gateway to BDSM as well as a good beginning Femdom book.

It has been awhile since I read a BDSM book with a female Domme which I loved especially because right not where I live there is someone trying to ban the watching of Fifty Shades of Grey which irks me because of the pure and utter ignorance of this lifestyle. So, in light of this ignorance where BDSM is NOT a negative thing but a lifestyle or personal yearning for them. In this book we have Beth the femdom who has had her trust extremely broken which has made her put up some serious walls.

We also have sexy Fire captain Drew, who's in his late twenties and just coming to terms with his submissive inklings. As Drew starts to explore this world through the sex club Serpent's Kiss he comes across Lady Beth. He's forewarned that she will be a lot of work with her being hurt but he's up for the task. Drew's not just looking for a dominant but also a relationship.

Because of Beth's trust issue she is very reluctant to let Drew befriend her which for me caused this beginning of the book to move very slow and was filled with a lot of information and details but not a lot of oomph. As Beth lets her guard down the story starts to get more momentum.

"Love takes as long as it takes." Katrina shrugged. "It isn't always practical. I learned that the hard way."

Even though it did pick up some momentum it still felt like it was a really slow book filled with a LOT of details that I don't know that helped or hinder to build the characters. It felt like this book could have been done quicker and more efficient as it may lose some people's attention spans.

I did like the book, it had some good moments, sexually repetitive a bit, some what anti-climatic and slow as a whole. Even though this review sounds more negative then not, it was still well written and there was nothing wrong with the characters that I found fault in, like I usually do as of late. So it all in all it was good just slow.

I enjoyed this story quite a bit. I'd never read book where the female was the Dominant in the relationship. It was different for me but I liked it okay. What I did love about this story is Drew! He is so sweet and patient. Even though he is the submissive in their sexual relationship, make no mistake there is nothing weak about Drew. Drew is hot! And he knows what he wants. I believe it takes a strong person and a lot of trust to give up their will to another person. Besides, HE'S A FIREMAN! I have a thing for fireman ;) Beth however was the weak link for me. She is unsure of herself after being burned by her ex. I understand this but she annoyed me. Anyway, I liked this book and I'm looking forward to the next in the series. There are a few story lines introduced here that Ms. Hayes can go with. I'm hoping it's Alexander and Grace next. Happy reading!!

Dangit. This had such promise: our new-to-the-Scene firefighter hero isn’t into just any fdom, he “was relieved to discover not all Dommes were like the ones he’d seen online,” his scene mentors are a normal fucking couple. OMG! By page 7 I noted, “Wow, this is looking very good! Fingers crossed!!”
The initial setup is fine: hero has just joined heroine’s Club, having been dumped by his last girlfriend over his kink. Heroine is still nursing her own confidence-shattering megabreakup . Both are leery of getting back into the dating world. He’s neither too subby nor a dom-in-disguise; yay. Both explicitly want a marriage-n-babies HEA; not my fave but not a problem. There’s also a side plot about a serial arsonist in the area; that’s cool, I like mysteries.

Okay, I’m on board!!

That lasted for about 3 chapters. Aaand then it slides right off the rails, in the most unspectacular way possible. I’ll just quote my note at the end of chapter 5:
Aw man. Author's heart is in *all* the right places, but the skill level here just… isn't up to the task. We're talking solidly D grade. The writing is just… artless. The short declarative sentences, the telling (and telling) instead of showing, etc. It just feels sooo amateur, and the story— such as it is— is already dragging due to repetition. It's *been* dragging, tbh. At this point I'm thinking the arson-mystery side plot (and massive page count!) is hopelessly overambitious. This needed an editor, and frankly, some workshopping.
I'm super bummed, because unless SOMETHING improves soonish, I'm not sure I'll be able to finish this. :(

And y’all, it didn’t. It didn’t improve. I’m sorry to say, the writing is just bad. Bad as in unskilled. It’s kind of a tragedy, because this is like, exactly the book I would write! But that’s the problem: it’s exactly the book I would write… right down the fact that I’m not a writer. Still, I’m enough of a reader that I’d know to avoid these kinds of easy, obvious, known errors. Way too many words. Faulty tell/show ratio. Faulty narrator/dialogue ratio. Weak characterization. Mary-Sue-ism. Ineffective pacing. One-dimensional side chars. Strange scene/chapter/pov breaks.

I tried to hang in there, but I was dying of boredom by chapter 7 at least. There’s just so much that needs to be cut! Tons of repetition, pages and pages of banal getting-to-know-you chitchat, paragraphs bloated with unnecessarily minute detail. By chapter 9 I was no longer reading for pleasure; I was reading as an editor. Then I was skimming just for dialogue.

Especially amateurish trope: every single side character is obsessed with the MCs’ love lives. It’s all they talk about, and apparently their only reason for existing. I mean literally every convo ! It’s ridiculous.
Speaking of which, hero’s buddies are so immature and relentless that, unintended consequence, they actually reflect poorly on him. At 30ish, they read more like 15: they come off exactly like over-imaginative teen boys who are secretly desperate for any vicarious detail (because they’ve never actually touched a woman), but also vaguely jealous/resentful (because ditto), all of which they cover with brash crassness and sliiightly too-sharp “ribbing.” Also they absolutely cannot know he’s subby because “he’d never live it down.” *rolls eyes*

The pacing is disastrous; chapters 1-10 seemed to take foreeever to read, yet I was shocked to be informed that it had covered a month in-universe. During that month, the MCs apparently grew closer, but despite all the words, I didn’t see it. It’s like she just suddenly decides to abandon her (annoying trope) Strictly Just Friends thing, and it doesn’t track. Their allegedly passionate attraction is all tell, minimal show; you don’t feel it.

Oh, and the sex fucking suuucks! There’s nothing wrong with what they’re doing, it’s just written so unsexily. The Hemingway-esque style annihilates every scintilla of hotness, and I’m sorry, this is an insurmountable problem. When I’m entirely skipping the sex scenes, there’s just no coming back.

DNF at 45%.

I want to stand up and applaud Ms. Hayes for tackling a femdom series. Not for the kink factor, but to demonstrate another facet of the BDSM Lifestyle. One that demonstrates that healthy, “normal” people can also find an inner-submissive whether they are male or female. When dominating or submitting, gender doesn’t matter, it’s the feeling and desire to do so that counts. Whether sex is involved or not.

Overall I really enjoyed this book. About a third of the way in, the story did lag a bit as Beth waged a continual inner war with herself. For a Domme, a ‘woman in charge’, this wishy-washiness just didn’t jive with me. I understand that she had trust issues from her previous relationship, but at no point is she given any reason to continually doubt Drew the way she does. His background is thoroughly researched as part of the membership to the club (Serpent’s Kiss), and corroborated by another Domme, Beth’s best friend, who works in the same circles as Drew outside of the club. He doesn’t disappear on business trips. He doesn’t make excuses or present himself as anything but sincere. Drew doesn’t hide anything, not even his clear intentions to be around as long as it takes Beth to be comfortable with their budding relationship. I’d go so far as to call the man a saint with his level of patience. And who doesn’t love a man that cooks and gives foot rubs?

Burning For Her Kiss is well-written, and properly researched to give an accurate account of the BDSM lifestyle. If you like steamy scenes, you won’t be left disappointed either. Hayes gives you the goods with this novel. Hot kisses, UST-building teasing, and explosive bondage scenes await. More than that, however, it is the story of two people coming to terms with who they are and what they want out of life.

This book interested me because the blurb told me it was about a female domme who liked the bd and not the sm part of bdsm. The male was an alpha firefighter who figured out he wanted someone else in charge of the sexual decisions and he was definitely into bondage.

Sounds interesting (I'm always looking for different reads) and this did have its very hot moments. Unfortunately, it took half the book to get there trying to set up the story about how our domme had been left heart broken by her previous sub and she wasn't sure she wanted to get involved again, blah, blah. We finally got to the "good parts" and then it seemed to get a little off track again. An okay read but I definitely wanted more of the "good parts."

I love Sherri Hayes writing style. It takes you deep into the inner workings of the characters and the same can be said for Burning for Her Kiss. I loved the book. While most BDSM books take the male Dominant view, I was thrilled to read more about a male submissive. Let me clarify by saying that a true male submissive is not a doormat, any more than a female submissive is. To submit to another human being is one of strongest things you can do and in this case the male sub was hot, sexy and a perfect match for his Domme. The story moved well and kept my interest and I can't wait to read the next book in the series because this book did leave me burning...oh yes.

~~~~~~~~~~Dee's ★★★★★ Review~~~~~~~~~~
While the book is filled with images of BDSM play at the club and at home, the story is about Drew, a firefighter that longs to be a submissive to a woman willing to dominate him. He meets a beautiful woman at the club that steals his heart away. The problem is three months previously she was betrayed by her former submissive and she swears to never allow a man into her heart again. Drew displays incredible patience in his campaign to win Beth's heart. The reality of the BDSM lifestyle, the truth of what life in a firehouse is like and the slow healing of a broken heart provide an entertaining and interesting reading experience. Loved these two characters and enjoyed how they helped each other to grow and embrace life. I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Five Stars.
This is the first book I have ever read with a female Dom! I wasn't sure if I'd like it or not, but I actually really enjoyed it!
We meet Drew a sub who is new to the whole seen and as soon as he sets sights on Lady Beth at the Serpents Kiss club, he knows he has to have her! The only problem is Beth has been burned before with her previous sub and has no intention of being put back in that terrible position again! Both want the same thing a real relationship not a fling.
I found the story a little slow at first it took quite a while to actually get into, but once I did I thoroughly enjoyed it! The author really makes you feel like your a part of Beth and Drew's story and her character descriptions are wonderful!
I'm looking forward to seeing whose story will be next!
~~~~~~~~~~Sharlene's ★★★★✰ Review~~~~~~~~~~

Although I'm not a huge fan of BDSM novels, I have say I really enjoyed this one. You can tell that the author has done her research and homework on the subject. Also, this one had a bit of a twist as it was a female domme instead of male. For those who are new to reading BDSM this would make an excellent introduction to the lifestyle.

The characters are well developed. Although I found it a bit confusing that Beth was so confused and back and forth on whether she wanted a relationship with Drew. It is completely understandable that she feels this way after the way she was treated by her ex. However, it didn't fit with the domme persona in my head. Maybe I just don't know enough of the lifestyle and BDSM way of thinking. Either way, Beth and Drew are both very likable. Drew is very sweet and caring. Beth is very confused but thoughtful, smart and patient. The secondary characters are interesting as well. It would be nice to delve into some of their stories as well. Maybe Alexander and Grace? Nicole and Jeff?

The storyline was good too. I did feel that it was a little drawn out and slow in parts. Also, I kept expecting something "big" to happen which never did. Other than that, the story was pretty realistic and easy to follow. This story is a standalone and does have an HEA.

~~~~~~~~~~Sara's ★★★★✰ Review~~~~~~~~~~
This is my first read where there is a Female Domme and male sub. I found it intriguing and I was drawn in from the beginning. I loved it. I loved watching the building of trust between Beth and Drew. Beth has been horribly hurt by her ex so bad she thought she was done with Men and didn’t want any relationship. Drew is used to being in Control all the time with her fellow firefighters. He just wants to submit and be able to let go of control and just be. He goes to Serpents Kiss and tries to see if this is what he really wants. Beth walks in After being pushed to go back by her friend. They are drawn together but with Beth being hurt she isn’t easy to convince. Drew doesn’t except a no and keeps at it letting her see that she can trust him. You watch the building of the trust and them coming together. This was a great story.
~~~~~~~~~~Michelle's ★★★★✰ Review~~~~~~~~~~

I have been waiting for “Burning for Her Kiss” ever since I finished “Serpent’s Kiss” and once again Hayes did not disappoint. It’s very rare to find a book about a Domme and I absolutely loved how Hayes captured the characters. We met Beth & Drew previously in Serpent’s Kiss and now we get their full story. Beth was burned by her sub Ben when his wife showed up at her house. She was devastated and betrayed by the one she thought she could trust. Drew is one hell of a HOT fireman and he is trying to figure himself out. It wants to submit, but is unsure how to start. I adore Drew and how he just went with the flow even though he wanted Beth all to himself. He is genuine, caring and will do whatever it takes to prove to Beth that he is nothing like her ex.

Hayes does a fantastic job in capturing what they are feeling. The book flows nicely without feeling too rushed. She pays attention to detail which gives the illusion of being in the book with the characters. I loved the family feel when they are with their friends at the club. I truly enjoyed this book and hope there will be more from the members of Serpent’s Kiss… I am itching to get Katrina’s story! Job well done Ms. Hayes…

I want to start by saying I am a HUGE fan of Sherri Hayes. Her writing speaks to me whether is it Brianna and Stephan in the Finding Anna series or all her boys in the Daniel Brothers series so I had high expectations for this book. And I adored the prequel, Welcome to Serpent's Kiss, so I was very anxious to see where she took the series. Man oh man, she didn't disappoint.

Drew is a firefighter and new to the BDSM world. He has to be in control for his profession, and craves the release of submission to tune out and turn off. Now he needs to find the right Mistress.

Beth is a Domme who has been badly hurt - betrayal in one of it's worst forms. She isn't looking for a new sub, and feels she may never be ready for a new relationship. Thank heavens for her best friend Nicole, who is pushing her back to the club-Serpent's Kiss.

Drew is drawn to Beth from the start. He knows she has been hurt but works to build her trust and get past her defenses. Beth is drawn to Drew but wants to protect her heart.

The story develops naturally and organically - Drew gaining her trust and Beth opening up. They start as friends and work from there. The chemistry is palpable and wonderful to read. As a reader, I could literally feel it coming off the page.

But the question was - would Beth get past her hurt to let him in? As I enjoyed the story, I was rooting for Beth and Drew to find a way to be together. They are both strong characters and I really loved that about the story. The auxiliary characters - Nicole, Tommy, Ben, and others were all well developed, which isn't always the case with minor characters. The scenes from the firehouse were fun, funny, interesting and felt very real. I just found the book hard to put down.

Now that I am done, I just want more of these characters! I am glad this series is in its infancy as I know I have more books to look forward to. I give this one 5 stars!!!

*I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review.*

This is a BDSM book and I wasn’t quite sure which way the author was going to take with this story. Some are mainly about sex. Some have a story line and sex. This book has an incredible story line with some sex. I was incredibly pleasantly surprised. The author did a great job writing the story and I was enlightened a bit.
Who can’t love a sexy, sweet, caring fire fighter?! Let’s add a small restaurant owner who knows her way around a kitchen to make some yummy sounding food. Then let’s add a little kink into the story. Oh, I forgot to add that the baker, Beth, is the dom and the firefighter, Drew, is the sub. That’s got to lead to one hot story. If that’s what you’re thinking then you are absolutely positively correct!!!
This story is enjoyable from the beginning to the end. It’s sad in parts when you are learning about Beth’s past and might make you want to yell at the book a bit for the man who broke her heart. Drew is a sweet, hot, sexy, loving young man. His character was written so perfect. I think the part that he wants to relinquish the control he has all day at work in the bedroom and have a female control him is quite interesting and is intriguing to say the least. Honestly, that part makes him even sexier.
Descriptions! Oh the author is really great about using amazing description throughout the entire story. I think the way she has written the story and the way she describes each scene make it so easy to dive in and really enjoy the story. I really don’t think you could ask for any better detailing to the story on an understanding and visualization level.

If you read my blog or look on my FB page (or through any of my reviews) you'll see that I read quite a bit of BDSM romance. I got hooked long before the whole 50 Shades thing hit. But almost all of what I read is with a male Dominant. I've read menage with female and male Dominants dominating over one sub, but there is almost always a male Dominant. This book was a huge change for me. Beth is the Domme and Drew is the sub.

At first I wasn't sure what I'd think of this book. I, myself, am far more submissive than Dominant. My husband and I do not practice D/s, but I am not a take charge person in the bedroom and I am frequently submissive. But I went into this book with an open mind and was extremely happy that I dd.

While Drew is definitely a sub he's not completely submissive. The dynamics of the couple were much more equal. Beth dominated Drew, but mostly only in the bedroom and when he wanted something he went for it. He was strong and sexy. And he's a man in uniform - a firefighter. Beth was a Domme, but she wasn't your typical Dominatrix. She wasn't a sadist walking around in leather with a whip.

Both Beth and Drew were much more real than many characters I read about in books and they seemed genuine. Then there was the sex. Oh my... Can we say that the scenes were hot? There were many hot D/s scenes, but also many other almost vanilla D/s scenes. All were steamy!

If you're like me and usually read M/f I definitely suggest you give this one a try for a change. And if you read a lot of F/m then I already know you'll love this one. Bring on the rest of this series!

I give Burning for her Kiss 4 1/2 stars!

Vanessa here! I know I have to be more articulate than just saying Wow but if I could get away with it I would say just that. This book is wonderful. I admit I haven't read a lot of books with Femdom and now I wonder why. This book is well written and I think pays great respect to all of the worlds it dabbles in, small business, fire service, BDSM. The heart of this story was two people finding one another and themselves together. Drew is in charge of everything at work, always responsible and thoughtful and looking for a lifestyle where he doesn't always have to be in charge. Beth is brokenhearted and tentative at best when they first meet but make no mistakes she is in charge. Drew pursues her in a quiet and beautiful way, persistent because he sees something in her he needs. Outside of the bedroom their scenes together are just as scorching and touching as they are in the bedroom. I am an avid reader who likes all types of books and I didn't feel this was overtly sexual, even though there is a lot of sex. I love the world that she created and I enjoyed knowing there is more to come. I cannot wait to get to it. I was reading it on my kindle and unable to pull it up on cloud reader at work so I went ahead and downloaded the free prequel, Welcome to the Serpent's Kiss, which you should also read. I reached out to Sherri herself to let her know I enjoyed it and she's sweet as can be.

This is a definite 5 quack review. I wish I could give it more!

Burning for Her Kiss was a sweet story of Beth and Drew. Beth has been hurt in the past and isn’t looking to make a new relationship. Drew is a strong handsome fireman that has set his sights on Beth. He wants to give her submission in the bedroom and his love and devotion all the time. Beth isn’t sure if she’s being played and doesn’t want to trust her feelings thinking it’s too soon to be falling for Drew.

Drew gives Beth space but is present for her slowly courting her before she even agrees for a date. Beth finds herself falling fast. While the book was about Beth being the Domme and had some sexy scenes with Beth as the Domme, I felt that the love story was the focus and there was not a lot of overt D/s. I really loved Beth’s method of collaring Drew. It was appropriate and touching.

I quite enjoyed Beth and Drew. I kept coming back to the book each time I put it down. There were a couple of side stories that resolved very quickly keeping the book from being a cliff hanger. I do look forward to seeing more on the stories of the others in the book.

Beth's heart was broken when she found out that someone she cared about wasn't completely honest with her and was leading a double life. She has just started to come out of her protective shell and returned to Serpent's Kiss. Her first night back she is approached by Drew. Drew is a submissive and new to the lifestyle. He takes one look at Beth and knows deep inside that he wants to be with her. He takes things slow because Beth insists that she isn't ready for a relationship, so he begins with friendship. He won't give up until they are together and she knows that he could change everything.

My heart broke for Beth and what she went through, but I wanted to give her a shake and tell her to take a chance. I loved that Drew was so patient with her knowing exactly what he wanted. Once their relationship began it was sexy and sweet to watch them fall for each other. I loved their story and can't wait to read the next book in the series.

I give Burning For Her Kiss 5 hearts!

A fabulous start to a new series by Sherri Hayes. I'd not read anything involving a female Domme before reading the prequel novella Welcome to Serpent's Kiss last month, nor had I seen much around involving Femdoms elsewhere in the genre, so I think Sherri has something here which readers will find unique.

The prequel introduced us to BDSM club Serpent's Kiss and its mistress, Katrina, as she interviewed firefighter Drew Parker for club membership. In this first full novel, Drew's story continues as he explores his submissive side with cafe owner Beth, whose heart was recently broken by her previous sub. I loved these characters and, as with all Sherri's erotica, their scenes together are H.O.T. The large cast of club regulars gives plenty of scope for future books, and I personally cannot wait to read the next installment.

I received an ARC of this book for my honest review.

This is the first book I have ever read with a female Dom! I wasn't sure if I'd like it or not, but I actually really enjoyed it!

We meet Drew a sub who is new to the whole seen and as soon as he sets sights on Lady Beth at the Serpents Kiss club, he knows he has to have her! The only problem is Beth has been burned before with her previous sub and has no intention of being put back in that terrible position again! Both want the same thing a real relationship not a fling.

I found the story a little slow at first it took quite a while to actually get into, but once I did I thoroughly enjoyed it! The author really makes you feel like your a part of Beth and Drew's story and her character descriptions are wonderful!

I'm looking forward to seeing whose story will be next!

Four stars!

I was gifted a copy for an honest review.

This is my first Sherri Hayes book and I completely relate to her writing style.
I was drawn in and compelled to keep reading. The sex scenes were very well written and oh so hot. All of us ladies need a Drew. A manly hot fireman but yet sometimes submissive in the bedroom. Well I want one anyway.

I loved Beth because she is a Domme but she is a realistic character as well. She is a hard working independent female, but insecure in ways and protective of herself.

The dynamic of the two of them together was wonderful and I enjoyed the normal interactions between them and the normal progression of their relationship. Then you throw in the spicy BDSM and you have an amazing story.

Burning for Her Kiss is a well written enjoyable read.

This is a very different BDSM book from what I read usually! When I knew it was a female dom book I was intrigued and interested in reading more about it! All the bdsm books I have read were quite dark but this completely changed my view. It showed BDSM lifestyle in the normal lifestyle.

I have always loved when women in books took charge and I loved Beth! She is amazing! I have a huge girl crush on her and Drew is the sweetest guy I have ever met!He was caring and really understanding person and I would love to have him as my Sub! Ha! kidding! but he is a perfect man who knows what he wants and goes for it and makes people just swoon over him! he being a sub doesn't make him weak but a very strong man who is quite cool and eager and knows what he likes!

I will definitely be reading more books by Sherri!!

After reading so many books with male Dom and female subs, I have to admit i'm pleasantly surprised as to just how much I enjoyed Beth and Drew's story. What separates this story from all the rest is the fact that Drew is far from a damsel in distress that desperately needed saving. In fact he was just the opposite, almost cocky at times where Beth had to remind him of his place.
There wasn't a dull moment in this story and although reality kept pulling me away I read this one every second I had the opportunity to.

"I want you to be my submissive as well as my life partner will you give me your submission"

Beautifully written as always Ms Hayes

I can't wait to find out what happens in the next book of this series!!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Like:
I liked the fact that their relationship was a slow buildup. This gave the H/H the time to heal enough to be ready for a new relationship. Though there were setbacks in their relationship, it was just what you would expect due to the heroine's issues.

Dislike:
Though, there wasn't any cheating between the H/H, the heroine's ex was a married man. While this isn't a trigger for me. I'm not a fan of this situation.

Recommendation: I found this to be an emotional, yet fulfilling read. I'm looking forward to more books as some of the secondary characters are interesting.

I loved this book. I actually got upset when I had to put down my Kindle to get back to my "real life". I like the way Ms.Hayes portrayed the Dommes in this book. They were caring, yet strong women- so many books show Dommes to be hard, almost masculine, and they love to humiliate their subs.. Don't get me wrong- if that is your kink - go for it. I was just tired that ALL Dommes were portrayed like that... it is refreshing to see a strong man willing to submit sexually to a woman. The story was good and the characters were realistic enough to make me believe in a HEA... I can't wait for the next book!

I enjoyed Welcome to Serpent's Kiss as a new series from Sherri Hayes. And a Femdom at that! I loved the intro in WtSK, and then the story behind the firefighter introduced in the first novella. This story will grab your heart while giving you an honest look into the BDSM lifestyle. The communication, trials and fun when entering into the lifestyle. The challenges, as well as the hot romance it becomes. I can't wait for the next one...and I sure hope it won't be a whole year!

Captivating..

Sherri has her special way of writing.. it's not fully erotica..yet her books are sexy with lots of romance...

When Beth thinks she has lost her faith in man after a heart break with her ex... she thinks she will never be the same Mistress she once was... that's until she meet Drew ... their connection is almost instant and their chemistry will have you blushing and smiling with all the teasing he has to go thru with her..

This was a sweet read for me and what I love most about it was how the author make the connection between the two character believeable. I can feel the fear of commitment in Beth and I can feel the sincerity in Drew. Most importantly, she made me believe and feel their attraction and growing love.

I liked this book it was sweet and spicy but I had a lot of problems with it.

This is book one of The Serpent’s Kiss series. This story revolved around a woman named Beth Davenport. She owns a cafe. She is a female Dom. She had a bad experience with a male submissive that she was with. She has no interest in getting involved with another man. Beth goes to a BDSM club called Serpent’s Kiss. There is a woman there that she is friends with that she talks to. At the club she ends up meeting a guy named Drew Parker. Drew is used to giving orders at the fire station that he works at. He goes to Serpent’s Kiss. He is a submissive. He wants to explore his submissive fantasies. He meets Beth and instantly takes a liking to her. It takes Beth a long long long part of the boo to decide if she will be Drew’s Mistress. She keeps putting him off and putting him off. She decides to date him.

They don’t play or do any scenes at the club. They don’t really do any scenes together outside of the club except bondage and light submission play. They talk about their interests and what they want to do together. I wanted more scenes at the club and I wanted to see Drew as a submissive. Beth didn’t come off as a DOM in my opinion.

Drew has finally realized he is a sub and wants to start exploring that part of his life. He joined the new BDSM club in the area and isn't really sure what he should be looking for until he meets her, Beth. From that moment he knows, she is his Dom. She might ignore him now, but with the help of her friend Nicole and some persuasion from Drew, Beth might just agree to be his Dom.

Beth is over it. Over relationships. Over people. Over lies. OVER IT! She's trying to move on, but when sexy Firefighter Drew positions himself next to her, she can't over look or ignore him. She can surely try, but Drew's not going anywhere. He is will to take things slow for her sake and teacher her how to trust again. Will she ever trust Drew with her heart?

This is a light BDSM where there is a FemDomme. This is a good book to cut your teeth on the BDSM world. Not too deep, but enough so that you understand what is going on and how their relationship works for them. I liked the book, but yet it wasn't enough for me. There was a second plot going on in the background, that I wanted more from. I guess I wanted it to tie in somehow to Drew and Beth. Overall a good book, with two great characters.
