Storm owns the Beat & Cream bakery, popular with the Hammer Club members for its name, the amazing pastries Storm bakes, and his willingness to make all sorts of naughty creations. Not into the lifestyle himself, Storm loves the punny nature of the name of his establishment and everyone he's met have been nice.
Zeb, an unattached Top and Hammer Club member hears about the bakery and knows he must check it out for himself, given he has the world's biggest sweet tooth. He finds the pastries delicious, but he's even more taken with the owner himself, and sets out to woo Storm.
It's easy to fall in love with someone who makes you laugh and brings your life joy, but what happens when that happens with someone who isn't into the same things you are? Zeb and Storm are about to find out if they can find some mutual ground, or if Zeb's lifestyle will keep them apart.
Often referred to as "Space Cowboy" and "Gangsta of Love" while still striving for the moniker of "Maurice," Sean Michael spends his days surfing, smutting, organizing his immense gourd collection and fantasizing about one day retiring on a small secluded island peopled entirely by horseshoe crabs. While collecting vast amounts of vintage gay pulp novels and mood rings, Sean whiles away the hours between dropping the f-bomb and persuing the kama sutra by channeling the long lost spirit of John Wayne and singing along with the soundtrack to "Chicago."
A long-time writer of complicated haiku, currently Sean is attempting to learn the advanced arts of plate spinning and soap carving sex toys.
Barring any of that? He'll stick with writing his stories, thanks, and rubbing pretty bodies together to see if they spark.
The Hammer Series is one of my favorites but every book can't be a hit. I won't go into the normal things that we all love to hate about Sen Michael books. We all know all the sex, one word sentences, etc. This one will go down as one of my least favorites if not my overall least favorite. This one had less of a plot than any. I think the plot of Hammer books is usually because the sub has some kind of life issues and the Dom is there to sort it all out. With Cream, the sub, Storm, did not have any big problems. He wasn't in the lifestyle but since Zeb was, of course he thought Storm was a natural submissive. I didn't see it. There was just nothing going on with them besides sex. I skipped through part of the book thinking it would be more of a story closer to the ending but it was just as it was in the first part, just sex. Yes, SM books always have a lot of sex but this one was just over the top. If Storm had some issues, like a stalker, family problems, panic attacks, the need to have enemas or something like that, it would have been a better read. There was a very light amount of kink, some light spankings butt plugs. This probably deserves a 1.5 stars more so than 2.
A baker who loves to make amazing pastries and doesn’t shy away from a few kinky creations now and then (based on pictures, can you imagine?), and an unattached Top at the Hammer club with the city’s biggest sweet tooth seem like a match made in heaven. There is only one problem. Storm, who is a baker just having set up his small business, barely knows what BDSM is about, and anyway, he’s not a sub. Zeb, an avowed Top, falls for Storm the moment he meets him and, after their first few encounters, is convinced Storm is a sub. And not just any sub, no, Storm is his.
Storm is working hard to make his new business a success. He is an amazing baker, and he has some very loyal customers. With a name like Beat & Cream, symbolized in his logo by a whip and a whisk, it is no surprise that a lot of the custom work comes from various members of the Hammer Club. Storm doesn’t really know what they get up to, and he isn’t sure he wants to find out, but when he meets Zeb and has some of the most amazing sex of his life with the man, he begins to wonder. Maybe those BDSM people are on to something? Not that Storm is a sub or anything…
Zeb falls for the pastries Storm makes within seconds of smelling them, and his interest for Storm isn’t far behind. He quickly figures out that Storm is a sub, albeit a feisty one with ideas of his own and very pushy, but a sub nevertheless. Zeb really likes Storm so he decides to be patient. He shows Storm how good things are between them, getting gradually kinkier and more “toppy” in bed as well as in real life. Storm thrives under his guidance and since Zeb is as smitten with Storm as the other way around, that growing love between them makes a lot of things easier. It also leads to some very hot exploratory sessions.
If you like stories about BDSM virgins who are taken in hand by a patient, loving Dom who helps them see their potential, if two men who fall in lust, then love in quick succession sound like fun, and if you’re looking for a read that is as mouthwatering as it is hot, then you will probably enjoy this novel.

There are certain truisms when you read a Hammer book:
1. The Dom will really be a giant marshmallow inside 2. He will be firmly established in his career and either independently wealthy or able to leave his business to others to run while he chases after the twink making his life better 3. He will KNOW that a guy is a sub, merely from a slight glance out of the corner of his eye across the street during a solar eclipse and power black-out, even if the sub himself is clueless or has shown no interest in the lifestyle 4. The sub will be a super-hardworking twink who just can't catch a break but is too proud to take help 5. At some point the Dom will rescue the sub from something "bad" 6. The sub will refer to the Dom as "dear" at some point. 7. The Dom will refer to fisting as "holding you in my hand" (but really, it's holding YOU in my ass) 8. Despite claims of loving food, they eat very little in favour of fucking endlessly, leaving restaurants during meals, falling asleep and forgetting to eat, getting distracted from muffins, bacon, burgers, chile, lemon bars (in this case). 9. Despite having never gone to a gym in their lives, both characters will have six-packs you can grate cheese on 10. They will declare their love within 7.3 days. 11. They will move in with each other within 15.8 days 12. Neither one will have EVER gone bareback with anyone EVER and are both "clean" (which I have recently learned is not very appreciated by the gay community - no one is "unclean") 13. There will probably be a few plot points that just vanish when they become inconvenient 14. Neither character either a) has any family or b) is in touch with said family, even if they claim to have a great relationship with them 15. The Hammer Club has amazing food (which considering point 8, I'm surprised anyone knows) 16. There is no plot, just 200+ pages of fucking and mooning about and thinking how adorable the other is
Yet despite this being about book 21 in the series, and me having read a very good portion of them, I continue to buy them, but I confess by about 2/3 of the way through, I start rolling my eyes and skimming the sex. Which means the rest of the book. But there is something about them, and I have a soft spot for marshmallow doms and twinks. So sue me.
I’ve been a fan of the Hammer series for a long time. I believe Sean Michael is my most read author because of that, as there are an awful lot of books in that series. There is always something that I like or long for, but unfortunately, they don’t all seem to have it.
The sex is always hot, the BDSM scenes, while sometimes repetitive, are always well done, and the characters are usually easy to fall in love with. They all have that same short monosyllable style dialog, which gets a bit tiresome, but the stories all have a little something to love.
This story was a bit different. It takes place mostly outside the club scene, as Storm’s only contact with BDSM or the lifestyle is the club members patronizing his bakery. Zeb is a club member and Dom who sees something in sweet Storm and wants to know more even given his lack of experience in something so important to Zeb.
There wasn’t much these guys had in common, besides sex, and there weren’t any conflicts to overcome, other than the previously mentioned lack of experience on Storm’s part. I had a very difficult time connecting with these characters. Zeb, of course, saw Storm as a natural sub, but I felt this was more of him projecting his wants and needs. They did keep the BDSM very light which was fitting, but there just wasn’t anything else to wow about here.
A few other Hammer characters show up here and there, but not nearly enough to up the interest level. Unfortunately, while a sweet story, this one just didn’t work for me.

Rating: 5/10
PROS: - The characters in Michael’s books are all very accepting of their partners’ eccentricities. It’s a nice little fantasy world he has created. - I get bored of the Sean Michael stories that have tons of sex and not enough conversation. This one starts off with mostly conversation. (However, I must admit that I didn’t find the conversation terribly unique.)
CONS: - The men are very different in size. It says early on that Storm only comes up to Zeb’s nipple, and they even had a conversation about having to work out the logistics because of the significant size difference, and here they are in an intimate scene with no discussion and no hesitation, no problems. That kind of thing irritates me. - There are scenarios in this story that play out in the exact same way as scenarios from other Michael books.
Overall comments: If you’ve read many of this author’s works, I think you’ll respond to this one in one of two ways: either you’ll like it because you’re addicted to the author and you like all of his works, or you’ll be bored because there’s nothing new here. If you’re new to this author, I’m not sure this is the best place to start with him; I found it to be just an okay example of his writing.
Yup typical Sean Michael Hammer story...even if the Hammer Club and other characters only play a small cameo role to Storm and Zeb's story. Zero character conflict, zero angst, lots of sex and some D/s play. Smutty fluff.
Pretty much a rinse and repeat pattern with the books in this series, so I knew what to expect and that’s what I got. Even so, didn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it – just didn’t get a lot of depth of story. Wish I could find me a bakery around here that made naughty goodies because what a combination that would be!
Let’s be honest: the plot is minimal, the goal is maximum. If you're looking for deep character arcs or complex storylines, this ain’t it. But if you're okay with something that's designed to get you hot and bothered, you’re in the right dungeon.
This book is basically a nipple worship thesis. An erotic monograph with some light BDSM in the background.

I usually adore every Sean Michael book I pick up as I am an avid reader and fan of the Hammer series. But I have to say this is my least favorite in the series thus far. Just too sweet for my blood. In this book we have Storm, bakery owner and as the blurb says it is very popular with the Hammer club members since Storm makes a lot of risque cakes for them. He is an extremely happy and bubbly individual that has given up everything for the bakery. Then we have Zeb, a single top, Hammer Club member, and fellow small business owner. He stops by the bakery because he LOVES sweets and of course doesn’t gain a single pound (wish that were me). He takes one look at the sweet man and wants him instantly. After agreeing to a date, Zeb learns that Storm isn’t into the BDSM lifestyle but he see’s the natural sub in Storm and sets out to win the little man’s heart.
That’s the basic premise of the story. I normally like a long book but this one was just too long and I just couldn’t get into it like the other books. Even the problem of Storm not being into BDSM was wrapped up nice and quick. Even though I liked the sex scenes there was way too much of it and not enough of a plot. It seemed like on every other page once they got together, they were having sex! Yea it was hot but I mean how could the man not to be sore! The bumps in the road were not that significant. When Storm was robbed it was solved and over rather quickly. Zeb just hustled him into living with him. Boom no problem there. Everybody is happy once again. They were very sweet together quite unbelievably so. Storm had past anger issues but one sharp word and some rope from Zeb, all good again. Nobody is saying that I wanted something bad to happen to the characters but I bit of drama would have been a great addition. I also like to know a bit more of the characters background and I didn’t get too much of that here as well. The brief cameo of Hammer members was nice but didn’t really make or break the story. In the end it was an okay read and worth a look just to get a feel of the series. You can definitely read this as a standalone but I don’t recommend this be your first read. Go to the beginning and you will definitely see why I love Sean Michael so much.

Storm is the owner of Beat of Cream bakery. Beat & Cream bakery is popular bakery with the members of the Hammer Club because of the specialty treats and naught creations Storm makes. Storm up to the point of meeting Zeb considered himself vanilla.
Zeb is a top who is unattached and a member of the Hammer Club. Zeb is fairly new to the area and when he hears about the baker he has to check it out to see if they can satisfy his sweet tooth. Zeb meets the owner then tries to pursue him.
The connection between Zeb and Storm is intense. I loved how well the fit together and how Zeb never really seemed to push Storm any more than he wanted to be pushed. The sex scenes were scorching. I loved that while some of the elements that are typical of Sean Michael novels are present, but not all. This book was more of a love story.
Cream by Sean Michael is part of the Hammer series. I found this book well written with a realistic plot. The main characters and the secondary characters were interesting. The ending of the book was very predictable. This book tells the story of the famous baker that has appeared in many of the other book in the Hammer series. I had a hard time putting this book down. Overall, this was a very captivating book and I hope to see these characters again in the future.
Everyone at the Hammer is talking about the new bakery in the neighborhood, the Beat and Cream with all its lovely treats, delicious and decadently styled baked confections. Known for his sweet tooth it is only a matter of time before Master Zeb has a taste or two. No question the baked goods are delightful, however what really interests Zeb is the owner and baker, Storm. He is absolutely edible.
With so many customers from the Hammer Storm has heard a thing or two about the BDSM lifestyle, though he’s not interested in knowing more personally. Their instant attraction changes everything as Zeb introduces Storm to the joys of submission. Hopefully, before long Storm will love the lifestyle and his Master.
Chalk up another sizzling tale for the Hammer series in Cream. Lovers Zeb and Storm are featured in a gentle introduction to the BDSM lifestyle. Cream is ‘lite’ on props and heavy on steamy, sweaty encounters. Enjoyable characters are set within a pleasant storyline that is packed with sexcapades galore. Lighter on plotline than usual, nonetheless Zeb and Storm are engaging and educational.

These two trusted each other to have a truly intimate relationship: Sex, fisting, getting tested and ditching condoms. Zeb opens his home and Storm moves in. This all adds up to a LOT of trust. Then the wheels kind of fall off the bus for me.
These two see FOREVER bracketed by a heart in their future. They they said I love you and want to be with forever etc. To me all that sharing and commitment should equal a conversation about finances, a joint bank account and sharing of funds. It shouldn't be my money, your money, but our money. The same with bills. Every time they go out, Storm offers to pay half. Since Zeb's house is paid for, they agree to split the property tax and utilities. Granted this is early in the relationship but it sounds more like a roommate agreement that forever.
Also, Storm sold his car and liquidated most of his possessions to open his bakery. He gets up @ 3:30 to run to work from Zeb's place. Zeb is angry that he didn't wake him up for a ride. Dah... help him buy a second car!!! If you trust each other enough for fisting, you dang well should trust each other enough to help finance a car.

A very different Hammer story but still in the Hammer sprit. I love the fact that Storm is just a regular guy a non typical sub who likes what he likes but don't need the define it as such. That he is who is but his sub side is not all of him.
Same thing goes with Zeb. Just like Storm Zeb is who he is, a Dom, a business owner an all around fun guy. He is intense but not ruled by rules like ex. Marcus and Billy but is a hedonist together with Storm and does what feels good no matter if it's an intense scene or pampering a tired lover.
I am truly impressed how Sean Michael continues not only to deliver books for this series but delievers books that continues to keep the same high standards. Even if Marcus and Jim will always have a special place in my heart together with Oliver/Jack and Billy/Montana, I really loved this book and hope there will be more Hammer books like it. Now off to read Screwdrivers!
The best written Hammer novel, not my favourite but pretty close. Let's face it, Sean Michael is a formulaic writer. Most of his kinky main characters are a stereotype, the way they speak during sex, common phrases etc. it's the reason why his critics hate him and why his fans love him. I'm a fan but sometimes the formula even irritates me. So Cream is something different and at first I didn't like it. In the end though, I'm very glad that I kept an open mind and gave it a chance. The romance developed more slowly, they eventually became an adorable couple. The sex scenes, whilst still featuring the usual favourites, felt fresh and the conversations seemed a little more developed. Basically, it all felt like a more romantic story than usual and I really enjoyed it.
A sweet BDSM story of a Hammer Top and the sub he finds running a bakery. There is a bit of bondage but mostly the two men are trying to find a way to express their love and satisfy each other's needs. Even if Storm isn't able to admit he is a sub he supports the lifestyle and what Seb offers him. Good story, an easy read.
Several days have passed since I finished this book and the things that bothered me about it then, annoy me even more now. So, after due consideration, I've decided that I have to change my rating to reflect all the niggles and potential never realized.
I really love Zeb and Storms story. It has a rhythm all it's own. Zeb has a sweet tooth that loves the new bakery and it seems his heart is all about the great guy running it. They waste no time in getting their romance off the ground.
I never know how to rate Sean Michaels books. The plot is usually not great, there tends to be too much sex and the romance too fluffy. Still nothing quite beats his books when you just want a mindless read and a happy ending.
Thought the story was a sweet one. Really liked Zeb and Storm's chemistry, and was relieved by the lack of drama in the story. Wasn't in the mood for it, so this was just what I needed right now.
Like the previous books I’ve read in the Hammer Series, I found myself enjoying this one quite a bit. It was rather low on the kink scale in my opinion, but that gave the characters more focus both in and outside of the bedroom. As with most books in that take place in this universe, the main characters got together pretty darn quickly but, unlike a lot of the others, the quick progression from lust to love didn’t feel unnatural to me, or rushed. Zeb and Storm were just a good fit together all around and I liked just seeing them together in general; they also dated for a good couple of weeks before the word love was ever uttered. That’s still fast but when I’m used to the characters busting out those declarations in a matter of days, this was a fairly glacial pace. :D
The bulk of the book just features the main characters progressing through the stages of their relationship while also exploring the bdsm lifestyle, which Zeb is fully invested in. Storm just kind of slides smoothly into kink and while he doesn’t care for being labeled a submissive, he’s fully on board with anything he and Zeb may get up to in the bedroom. Like I said earlier, there isn’t an overwhelming amount of kink here, mostly a bit of bondage and one major spanking scene. What the book did have, however, was a focus on something I’m not sure I’ve seen before: nipple play. Granted, I’ve seen nipple play in other books but not to the extent or focus that happens here and I liked that. Even better, the play is on both sides of the relationship, not just Storm which was refreshing.
Aside from one minor incident that takes place earlier in the book, there really is no angst to speak of here but I found I liked the characters together so much that I didn’t need that extra something to keep me interested. Despite the quick relationship progression, things didn’t actually feel rushed to me and I liked reading about the ‘firsts’ that Zeb and Storm explored together. If you’ve enjoyed other books in this series or by this author you’ll enjoy this one.
