A home for the holidays…

Grace thought she had finally found a place to belong. Coming off of ten years of tragedy and disappointments, her arrival at The Snowflake Inn finally gives her a reason to have hope for her future and the possibility of her forever-home. Until one man arrives with the power to take it all away.

Versus NOT wanting to be home for the holidays…

Riley’s world has been turned upside down. He’s back at the one place that he never wanted to return to and it looks like he may be staying longer than he had planned. Taking over The Snowflake Inn was never his dream, it was his family’s dream for him, and all Riley wants to do is cut his losses and leave. But one fiery red-head has him rethinking everything he had planned.

Both Grace and Riley had very different plans for their time at The Snowflake Inn but with the magic of Christmas all around them, and an attraction that they can’t seem to ignore, this could be the perfect time and place for everyone’s dream to come true.

Favorite Quotes:

She was sure he had an actual name, but she hadn't had an opportunity to find out. When she had first noticed him around town a couple of days ago, she had named him Cute Serious Guy. The next day he had become Cute Brooding Guy, but today, he was looking pretty fierce so she went with Cute Angry Guy.

He was a U.S. Marine, damn it. He had faced the enemy in combat. He'd killed when necessary and walked into dangerous situations where he had no idea who he'd be facing more times than he cared to remember. And yet the thought of facing his mother was scarier.

My Review:

The Snowflake Inn features a Bed and Breakfast that was a bone of contention and cause for family drama and resentment for an angry wounded Marine returning home. He wanted rid of the family business, although his mother and her new chef did not seem to share his opinion or appreciate his thoughts. The story was a quick, angsty, and sexy read that was also quite moving and heart-squeezing at times.

Riley was discharged from the military and comes home to try and get his mother to sell her inn. Grace is living and working at the inn. Having met each other in rehab, Grace and Corrine became friends. (Not that rehab, both were getting PT- Grace for a broken leg, Corrine for a hip replacement).
I would have liked this better if I had liked Riley more. He annoyed me. What kind of person gets injured and doesn't tell their family? (So not to worry her). Then, because of the injury, gets discharged from the military. Doesn't share/say anything. Just shows up. After spending a few days in town first. That just annoyed me.

The Snowflake Inn was a heartwarming Christmas story!  With characters with jaded pasts, a beautiful setting, and a story-line that you can easily read in one sitting, this book was a lot of fun.  Riley and Grace were so easy to love, even when they both made mistakes.  Riley was back home from being in the Marines after being injured.   His mom, Corrrine, had a bed and breakfast and it wasn't the best memories from his childhood.  So with the full focus to get his mom to sell the inn, Grace was the hiccup he never saw coming.  Grace became best friend's with Riley's mom and I adored their friendship.  And with Grace now working for Riley's mom, I loved how that didn't change their friendship.  Owning a bed and breakfast was Grace's dream.  So to say Riley and Grace butted heads is an understatement lol.
Riley knew Grace was beautiful. Hell, it was one of the reasons he kept following her. She intrigued him, and he couldn't seem to help himself. But now, with her standing here in his arms? Everything about her called to him. So he did the only thing he could do.
He kissed her.

Riley could be so focused and dense at times.  He thought what was best for others, was what he ultimately wanted.  So I loved watching him grow and finding out how to accept what is and how to make others happy.  He also showed us that he was kind and thoughtful. And while him and Grace were both attracted to each other, they didn't get along at first.  So it was great being able to alternate between the two of them.  Grace had a lot of healing to do too and we got to watch that slowly happen within the pages. We were also given both of their backstories, and it added so much depth to Riley and Grace. With a wonderful happily for ever, this book was adorable and steamy too.  I will definitely be checking out other books by Samantha Chase, since this was my first!

For the last ten years Grace has been searching for a place to call home and after a chance meeting Corinne they become fast friends. Grace begins working with her at the Bed & Breakfast she owns and they have big plans for their future until her son returns home and wants his mother to sell.

After a career ending injury his career as a Marine has come to an end and he is uncertain where the future will lead him. He holds a grudge against the Inn and has no intention of staying but first he needs to convince his mother to sell but he hadn’t expected to develop feelings for Grace.

This is a sweet and sexy story about healing from the past, embracing the future and realizing that home is not a place but the people you love. I thought that the narrator did a great job with both the romance and the emotion of this story.

I really liked this story. I listened to the audiobook and loved the narrator. The story itself was sweet and charming. Riley comes home to The Snowflake Inn to see his mom after being medically discharged from the marines. He does not plan on staying though. Grace is a chef and is working at the Inn after meeting Riley’s mom Corinne and becoming fast friends. She hopes to one day open her own business but on a much smaller scale than the Inn is. Riley and Grace are both looking for a place to call home and a future. They find it in each other. I loved this storyline and the flow of it. I also loved Ben & Corinne. So sweet!

A perfect holiday story about finding love and making memories. Riley figures out that coming home can be an enjoyable experience instead of something to be tolerated. The Snowflake Inn's new chef Grace makes the transition from military life to home a happy experience and when the two come together they both find home with their HEA. Once again, Samantha Chase does not disappoint her readers.

I liked the romance in this book, and of course, Christmas is always a selling point for me. But I had trouble with the hero. Let your family know you’re in town, dude! That’s just mean.

A bed and breakfast, a fireplace, a Christmas tree and a Cute Angry Guy comes together and brings you pure romance. Couldn't put it down such a great Christmas read.

Despite the cute ending of The Snowflake Inn, by Samantha Chase, the bumpy beginning set a tone for the characters that I couldn't quite shake off, despite the character growth. Riley, a marine who’d been recently injured and forced to retire from service, returns to his mother Corrine's inn. He doesn't want to take it over, but he feels she should sell and find a man who can take care of her. His mom has hired Grace to cook and help out. Grace has always wanted a B&B like the Snowflake Inn—it’s become the first place that’s felt like home in the last 10 years—so she and Riley don’t exactly see eye-to-eye. Grace, Corrine and the groundskeeper Ben set out to show Riley that he can make a home with them.

Corrine and Ben are adorable. They were probably my favourite thing about this story. Riley comes on way way strong at the beginning of the book. Riley did show a lot of character growth, and I grew to like him by the end of the book, but I was never swept away by him.

Truth be told, I’m not even sure I liked Grace all that much. I felt bad for the stuff she’d been through, and understood what she wanted for her future, but she was sort of wishy washy. There were parts where she was strongstanding up to Riley to defend Corrine’s decisions, for instance—but there were times when instead of fighting for what she wanted, she just withdrew and made plans to cut her losses. I just found it hard to root for her.

So overall, just an ok story for me, lacking in that Christmas magic that I love.

I loved Snowflake Inn. Riley had left home to join the service and was determined not to go home, as his parents wanted him to take of the family business The Snowflake Inn. Riley had other plans and it didn't have anything to do with the Inn. He was injured in the line of duty. He had been given a medical discharge and wasn't happy about it..
Grace was a sweet young lady that had a hard time since her parents passing with she was just 18. She worked different restaurants, she had a very active social life until a skiing trip went horribly wrong. She had injured her knee, had surgery and went to rehab. She had met a wonderful woman named Corrine while she was there and they became very close. Corrine had offered Grace a place when she was done with rehab. Grace was hopeful that he life was going down a better path than it had been..
Riley was home but not staying in his childhood home. He was staying at a hotel. One day he was running in the park when he seen a young lady fall.. He had stopped to see if she was ok and if he could help to her car. Grace had seen him a couple times giving him sweet little nicknames, she had fought that he was very cute. Grace had excepted his offer to help her to her car.

My tablet decided to quit in the middle of a story so I picked up the Kindle I got from a friend, loaded with books, most of them series by authors I never heard of, where the first book is for free (and with a bit too many love stories for my taste), but I thought better to read something than nothing. So I just picked this one and started reading. In the beginning I thought I would not like this story, but as I continued I got into the characters and became interested.
Ex-marine Riley comes home to convince his mother to sell the Inn where he was born and raised, as he hated the place. There he met Grace, the new cook, who in her mind named him "angry-cute-guy" and things started to become complicated.
It was an easy and entertaining book and worth reading. Then there was an excerpt from the next books by the same author and since my tablet still didn´t work I read those too. One of them seemed interesting so I bought that one.
So, my conclusion is that free books cost money as this is the sixth free book where I bought more books by the same author (and being in the middle of the next book by Samantha Chase, I am sure I will buy more by her).

This was a sweet and endearing holiday romance. Very Hallmark Christmas movie. Nothing profound or life changing - probably too predictable, easy and cheesy. But I really enjoyed it!
There are really sweet and heartwarming moments amongst the characters - Corrine (mother of Riley and owner of the Inn) , Grace (the chef and friend), Ben (the groundskeeper and special friend of Corrine), and Riley (Corrine’s son who was discharged from the military and returns to the Inn.). They all struggle with what they want for their futures, and what the future of the Inn will be. The romances are probably too easy, but that was fine with me. There are also some touching issues of what’s been lost in the past that factors into fears for the future. Definitely had me wiping away tears several times.
I enjoyed this sweet Christmas romance! And I love a happy ending!

I really enjoyed this book! Grace and Riley were so good together! I enjoyed this book from beginning to end. I'm almost always a big fan of books about a Marine being a Marine wife and Marine mom. At first I was not a fan of Riley and the way he spoke to his mom but once it got to the point of finding out why he felt the way he did that changed everything. After all they both have been through I am glad they found each other and had their happily ever after. Such a sweet book!

Corrine runs a B&B and Grace has been helping her since she got out of rehab after her surgery. Corrine's son, Riley, comes home and tries to get Corrine to sell the B&B. Riley and Grace are attracted to each other and Grace tries to talk Riley into talking to his mom and see why she wants to keep Snowflake Inn. Corrine and her friend, Ben, realize that they have feelings for each other and Riley and Grace have to figure out how to navigate their relationship. This was a good sweet story!

Grace honestly seems like the sweetest woman who only wants a family, to love those close to her and be loved in return. She loves the Inn she works at and hopes to have more ownership until Riley shows up. He's a sad and hardened man but quickly warms to Grace. I loved this story and how sweet Riley truly was after he opened his heart.

Overall, this was a cute story but the main characters had to grow on me. I was much more interested in Corine and Ben in the early parts, but I did eventually care about Grace and Riley’s relationship too.

Riley was just kind of a jerk in the beginning, and I didn’t like that the physical attraction overpowered Grace’s emotions in the beginning.

It might have been shorter than books I normally listen to on audible, and predictable. However, in these dark days of doom and gloom, it was a good escape from covid and the nation's bleak future outlook. It had good narration and a reminder of happier times. It had likable characters and of the joy we once experienced. I hope w can e this pleasure or some of it again soon!

I feel like this time of year while putting up Christmas decorations and quilting quite a bit I either have a hallmark movie on or am listening to a really romantic novel on audible so I think the next ten of my books are all going to be the same stories that will mirror Hallmark stories. Merry Christmas. Easy, Fun & Quick Romances.

An enemies to lovers story set in the mountains of North Caroline. There are a few layers to the story that’s nice to see but since it’s more of a novela length they don’t really get the time to flush those layers out. The Snowflake Inn was a cute, quick holiday read.

NC mountains, Christmas, small town, family

The Snowflake Inn by Samantha Chase is a very good, easy reading, feel good book. It is the story of Riley and Grace and how they find their way back to life and to each other.

Finding Home

I really liked this cute Christmas story. It is not just about coming home for the holidays for a soldier but finding home, peace, and happiness for two lost souls. The narrator did a good job.

What can I say? This was the Hallmark Christmas movie of books. But I watch any Hallmark Christmas movie I can get my hands on, so why wouldn't I also read this? It's called ~Christmas Spirit~look it up.

A sweet romance between two old friends and two new friends. A comforting book you know will end with a "happily ever after" result. Just what I needed instead of watching the news or focusing on the fact that I can't visit my friends and family.

It was a good read, good plot, well written, but I was not drawn to the characters. I might not have been in the best mood when reading this book. I will have to try another book by this author.

Ok

I found this book to be too simplistic for my taste. I can safely say that I will not read it again.
