In the early 1900s, in the mid-west of a young America, something evil is preying on small towns, leaving a trail of blood in its wake as it moves, unseen, searching for something older than the land itself.
When tragedy strikes next, Sheriff Townsend has his hands full with townsfolk demanding answers, a young rookie as his only assistant, and a doctor that has more questions than answers. When a stranger arrives fresh off the train, a former lawman by the name of Hank Flynn offers to lend a hand, the sheriff quickly agrees.
But no one could have prepared the sheriff for the battle that was about to be waged, not only on the town, but on their very souls.

Hank Flynn is my favorite book by Nola, but now it has to complete with book 2. Sometimes sequels don't always live up to the first book, but that is not the case with Hank Flynn The Return. I was so excited when I found out the author was working on the sequel and couldn't wait to read it. This isn't extreme horror, however there is some disturbing imagery, but it fits perfectly with the story. I liked how some things were kept a mystery into it was the perfect time to reveal the truth. I liked how the author made you feel that Hank was a man that had lived a long time when she wrote about how he still prefers a horse over an automobile and how he realized he needed to wear more modern clothing. Another stellar read by Nola, and now I can only hope Hank's story will continue.
Take a little Unforgiven, mix in a dash of Dresden Files, then pour it into the Book of Revelations. There. Now you have the barest idea of what awaits you within these pages. In Hank Flynn, Nola has set out a story that takes its time, letting the dirt and grit settle in thethe reader’s teeth, without ever getting dull. It’s a phenomenal payoff since we get to know Hank, Judy, and Sheriff Townsend so well, making the book’s third act sing. A tremendous example of horror with heart.
Nola just keeps getting better, and this one now ranks among her best. HANK FLYNN: THE RETURN is an intense and captivating read, and you're gonna have a blast with anything Nola releases. Highly recommended to all fans of great fiction!
