Cop-shows hype up of the narrative of getting in someone’s face, forcing the truth to be exposed and approaching every interrogation as a battle. It may make for good TV, but the ethical considerations alone make my skin crawl.

So, what if we reframed this matter of the interview—and turned it into a conversation? No gimmicks, strange tactics, or coercion—just a conversation. What would that look like?

Thankfully, we don’t have to rely on building our own experience and we can draw from the vast knowledge of 25-years-in-the-making field experience from Brad Beeler. With radical candor and a calm demeanor, he describes how the art of the conversation starts long before you enter the room, with curating your first impression both of your appearance and the appearance of the space you will be speaking in. Once in the room, he invites you to engage all your senses, as conversation occurs not only with sound but also with sight, smell, and touch.

Confused by what that means—don’t worry, there are vivid examples to display each of these concepts. For example, people don’t shout their secrets, they whisper them. Keeping that in mind, can you make a large space smaller and more intimate? Don’t think so? It may be as simple as rearranging chairs and a table in a better location of the room, away from larger spaces or away from the direct blast of the AC.

No matter what profession you are in, knowing how to get people to share information is a skill well worth learning. Especially for individuals seeking to build deeper connections and influence with integrity, this book acts as a great steppingstone on that path.

Thank you to NetGalley, Brilliance Publishing and Brad Beeler for providing an ALC.

This book was good guide to effective communication. As a social worker, I have to pay attention to the different aspects of verbal and nonverbal communication. This book provided a good reminder of what I need to continue to pay attention to. I appreciated the authors ability to interweave personal/professional stories to illustrate his points. If you are looking to increase how effectively you are communicating, this is the book for you!

Tell Me Everything is one of the best books I've ever read on communication! Brad was a Secret Service Agent working in the USA for 25 years, and in this book, he breaks down communication, providing proven and no-fluff strategies to communicate with literally anyone, and he even reveals the secrets of how to spot a LIAR!

The book covers all the elements that make you a successful communicator, from the way you dress and smell to how you speak, listen, and communicate through body language. A book that brilliantly explains communication from a scientific standpoint, but that, at the same time, wastes no time overexplaining by giving you all the practical tools and tips to implement.

🤔 My thoughts on this book

I used to really suck at communication, and still do to some degree, but it's thanks to this book that I am starting to improve even further. I was left speechless more than a few times reading about all the nuances of communication and how much things actually influence a conversation.

I also loved the actionable nature of this book. So often, we are given the theory but almost no practice. Tell Me Everything strikes the perfect balance between theory and practice. The claims are backed by science, his thorough research, and experience in high-stakes scenarios, and he shares proven practical strategies to earn anyone's trust, reveal the truth, and communicate with anyone.

"Why should I read this book?"

Whether you are in sales, negotiate tough scenarios, lead a team, or want to simply strengthen your relationships at home by becoming a better communicator, this book must enter your bookshelf.

The audio of Tell Me Everything (written by Brad Beeler and narrated by George Newbern) was very well written and the audio was done.

Brad Beeler was a Secret Service Agent who excelled at performing lie detector tests. Using his vast knowledge and experience he wrote Tell Me Everything.

The author shared many stories of his experiences in the Secret Service throughout the book; which kept the book interesting. But in my opinion, the best part of Tell Me Everything is how it applies to everyday conversations and becoming a better listener and communicator.

One of the things I thought was most interesting was trying to speak into someone's right ear; as those words flow better to the side of the brain that comprehends. I'm really hard of hearing in my right ear. I explained to my husband that was part of my problem.

Many thanks to NetGalley, Brilliance Publishing (who approved my request to listen to the advance copy in exchange for an honest review) and author Brad Beeler. Narrator George Newbern did a great job. The audio was approx 7 hr and 6 min. Released Feb 2026.

Overall, this book was a solid read. It breaks down communication in a practical, easy-to-follow way. Drawing from his years as a Secret Service polygraph examiner, Brad Beeler shares lessons from high-pressure interviews and sensitive situations, then translates them into tools that can be applied to everyday conversations.

I found the strategies clear and usable, though not necessarily groundbreaking or new. That said, while the book is insightful, this genre often depends heavily on the author’s perspective, I felt it lacked discussion around intersectionality. I found myself wishing for more depth on how communication shifts across lines of race and gender, since those dynamics play a significant role in how trust is built, received, and interpreted. Perception isn’t neutral, and those nuances matter.

Still, it’s an informative and approachable read that works well as a starting point for anyone looking to communicate more effectively, whether at work or at home.

This was a genuinely helpful and grounding read. I especially appreciated the frameworks, which are clear, practical, and easy to apply in real business and leadership settings. The book does a good job naming things we often feel but struggle to articulate, like how confirmation bias quietly shapes our decisions and relationships, often without us realizing it. I found myself pausing to reflect more than once, which I always take as a good sign. That said, a few topics felt like they deserved a deeper dive, trust in particular. It was insightful but ended just when I wanted more nuance and data. Overall, though, this is a highly informational and very digestible book, one that works well as both an introduction and a reference you can return to when you need clarity.

Thank you Netgalley and BenBella Books for the ARC!

A Secret Service polygraph examiner teaching communication skills sounds like the setup for a thriller…but this book’s potential impact is so understated it’s almost profound: twenty-five years of high-stakes interrogations, protection details, and assessments distilled.

No gimmicks, manipulation, or strange tactics. For a man surrounded by often the most harrowing situations, his stance is one of gentle empathy, ethics, and creating space. The bridge-building here is literal: how do you get someone to trust, feel comfortable, and at peace with you?

To be human is to express oneself, and while there are infinite ways of doing so, only a few suffice.

I’ve struggled with this for a lifetime, so believe me when I say it’s perfect for anyone who communicates for a living, which is...everyone.

I received an early copy courtesy of the publishers via Netgalley. All opinions are mine alone.

Great book about communication and relationship-building, by someone with HEAPS of credibility on the subject. Too many of these books are by people summarizing what they've learned from blog posts, or a couple years in the workplace, etc. but Brad has DECADES of experience in the field, and lays it all out here. I learned a ton.

It's also extremely "practical and tactical," meaning that you can USE a lot of this stuff right away. I mean, I don't have any interrogations coming up or anything, but literally the very next conversation I have (or anyone has) is an opportunity to practice a lot of what he teaches in the book.

All told, I have between 2-3 pages of notes from the book, and I know that before my next "crucial conversation" or high-stakes meeting I'll be reviewing those notes so I can be extra prepared and confident! They'd better be ready to tell me everything!

Tell Me Everything by Brad Beeler published by Inkubator Books is " A Secret Service Agent's Proven Strategies for Earning Trust, Revealing the Truth, and Communicating with Anyone ".
I read the blurb and was intrigued.
It took me a minute to get into this non fiction book, but soon I couldn't put it down anymore. This book gives the alert and gentle reader a great tool for its daily life.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book with all its excamples, the witty anecdotes included, 5 stars.

I was afraid this book was going to be more geared for law enforcement but after digging in I found it was so practical for anyone to increase their communication skills. The author did a great job of illustrating the points with a series a frameworks I will be able to remember. I was also surprised it had a ton of science behind it and wasn’t just a professional’s career anecdotes. The anecdotes accentuated the science. Solid read

This was fascinating, my only gripe is that I wish the information was condensed into less chapters. Communication tidbits were explained through examples of on the job training which was cool. I just kind of wanted a little more depth in the examples. All in all though, a quick and jam packed wealth of knowledge from Brad.

Disappointing to say the least, expected a lot more from this; the narration is extremely boring; for some decent alternatives check out the works by Chase Hughes; the ellipsis manual and the behavior ops manual.

I was extremely honored for the opportunity to read an advance copy of the book "Tell Me Everything" written by retired Secret Service agent Brad Beeler. The author had a very distinguished 25 year career with the Secret Service serving as a highly regarded polygraph specialist and skilled trainer. Throughout the book, the author explains the many techniques he used when conducting polygraphs and thoroughly explains the behavioral science behind his methods.

As you read through the book, the author will explain and give examples of how to build trust during conversations to encourage the person you are talking with to open up. The author will give tips on body language and behaviors needed to appear welcoming, respectful, and interested. You will also learn how to better understand people by reading their tone of voice, facial movements, body language, and comments. All of these skills will aid when trying to reveal the truth, uncover deception, or improve interactions with others.

My favorite feature of the book are the real life examples of the techniques he used during his career and in his personal life. His intriguing stories pulled me in making me feel as if I was right there beside him as he skillfully and caringly revealed a person’s true actions and thoughts which the person was trying to hide. As a retired career teacher, many of the author’s strategies would have enabled me to better read situations with students leading to successful interactions with fewer misunderstandings.

This is such a fantastic and unique read! Finally someone in the Federal Intelligence/Law Enforcement arena that actually details the specific nuance of the fascinating psychological tools that real interrogation agents utilize, that absolutely everyone can repurpose into being a premier communicator. I actually now feel confident I am capable of seeing right through people who are not being truthful. I’ll be using this as a guide for vetting all job interviews, employee/boss interactions, and likely my daughter’s future boyfriends. Somebody get this guy on a major podcast asap, as I bet he has a thousand cool stories he couldn’t fit in this book. Loved it.
Bravo, Special Agent Beeler!
