RESIST ME by A.O Peart
I absolutely love an action packed romance with suspense and plenty of angst. This book did not disappoint!

As heart wrenching Lisbeth's situation was I found myself more interested in Ethan. His quiet and serious demeanor gave him a mysterious persona that for me, was hard to resist. I wanted to know more about him and I'm not just talking about personality *wink*

Although a stand alone, and HEA, I couldn't help but feel slightly like something was missing. That there were some answers that were left blurred and not with a definite outcome. But I hope it's due to the fact that we will see more of Ethan and Lisbeth in the future!

And how can one not love Jack?! Ethan's cousin is funny and a smart ass! I can not wait to read his story along with the rest of the novels in this series.

Get a dictionary!

Why do people write without proof reading?
Very disappointed with some of the writers in the series! Confusing story lines and characters when writing is irritating to readers! There is a difference between "then" and "than". Please proofread material before offering it to readers!

The XOXO New Adult Collection: What stories are actually worth the read?

Sidenote: Why is at least one character per one of these books named Jack? Like how popular is this name?

My Unexpected Forever-I almost forgot this story was a thing because it was so contrived and the characters were absolutely boring to me. What was it about again? Single dad who gets bullied by ex when he starts dating this nobody woman because he’s a rock star? I don’t know why I even finished it in the first place.

For Everly-Jesus, I wish this was a story I didn’t remember. Woman is guy’s therapist, and the ending was some weird bullshit that just came out of nowhere. I mean, I don’t even remember what or why went down before the happily ever after.

Indelible-I skipped this all together because screw the narrator’s voice! Argh!

Tattooed Dots-This was the first story of the anthology I bought that I actually liked. I thought I was going to hate the bad boy character at first, but then, after I finished the prologue, holy shit, sense got knocked into this guy. I felt like the Brooke’s boyfriend thing could’ve been completely tossed from the novel all together and I would’ve gotten the same story though. Literally, her first man had literally no purpose other than he’s a video game addict who’s more of a roommate than a boyfriend. Other than that, I liked Brooke and Easton together. Also, Easton’s daughter was actually a normal kid for once. Thank you, Kimberly Knight!

Mangled Hearts-I think it’s because I read this anthology on my kindle, but god the editing in this book is god awful. Also, I had to get used to the fact that I was mostly reading flashbacks instead of an in-real-time story. Also, who the hell wrote the dialogue for this? A fourteen-year-old girl writing a fan fiction? Too much exposition! Way too much! I just couldn’t read this book anymore, so I didn’t finish this one either.

Breakdown-Interesting story that I wanted to continue reading, but holy fuck those punctuation errors! Seriously, did this person not have an editor or something?

Maverick-I thought this story could’ve gone in two separate ways. One, Gina and Kellen could’ve been great friends, but the second option: them getting together, is also a good fitting story as well. Gina is right, Kellen is not a bad guy, but he didn’t have someone to direct him, which got him into trouble in the first place. For some reason, I feel that if this was all in Kellen’s point of view that it would’ve been a tad more interesting, but this is a very very very tiny nitpick and nothing that I can complain about really. We need stories like this every once in a while, so I’m happy I read this.

Do Anything-Is it just me, or did this relationship just go way too fast for me? It started off great, but I think I missed something because we go from she just got to England to how is she in a new relationship already? What the?

Resist Me-The title warned me to resist this, but I didn’t listen. I am such a rule breaker, am I right? LOL. Firstly, I felt like I didn’t get to know the main characters at all. It’s just…I get to know their names, lifestyles, that one is horny and the other isn’t, and that’s pretty much it. It just plays their lives. I’m not saying that it has to be all backstories, but my god, these characters are bland.

The Man Test-Though this book has it’s flaws, I thought this book was pretty funny because I love it when the story proves the pompous character so wrong that it makes them look entirely stupid. You sure learned your lesson, Marin. Team James all the way.

A Risk Worth Taking-Hmmmm…did I feel like reading about a girl who breaks up with a pretty good guy because she can’t deal with a parent’s divorce? Nah, not today.

Unintentional Virgin-I immediately had an allergic reaction to the narrator’s voice. Skipped.

The Fall of Sky (Part 1)-I knew this was going to be a pass the moment I read the summary.

At the end of the day, this anthology does have some hidden gems that are good reads, but I would really get those books separately and not get this anthology at all. If you have to pay for this whole set, it’ll be a waste of your money in all honesty.

It bothered me that there wasn't a proper review of all the books within on Goodreads, so I'm compiling mine as I go and I hope it helps others. (Note: I have no idea how the differences between erotic romance and new adult work - I don't care to find out - as I read whatever appeals to me, so I just go with it, based on how entertaining I find it.)

These are my personal opinions...

1 ~ My Unexpected Forever by Heidi McLaughlin
*****
Okay, *taking a deep breath*. Let it be stated that Harrison *blushing* is the HOTTEST damn character I've ever had the pleasure to read of...EVER! Screw the silly Mr. Grey and Mr. Cross. This is a guy you want in any situation; whether you are a young adult, having menopause or simply need little break from responsibility. So please, if you have any contact with such a person and don't want their company, I'll happily take them off your hands.
One tiny issue; in the first few chapters (maybe later a few more times) I wanted to pull my hair out with the redundant amount of times it was said that Katelyn went back and forth with her feelings for Harrison. It was surely needed so you knew this about the character and the background, but as with the 'he's not my type' I think the overemphasising was very unnecessary after the first five times. I get it, there is a reason this needed to be stated, but I still wanted to punch her.
With that said, McLaughlin definitely executed the character perfectly. You want to take Katelyn by the shoulders and shake her to make up her damned mind, which is what you want as an author. The character definitely evokes the correct reaction.
There was absolutely nothing wrong with the story and I was truly pleased to find a new (to me) author that made want to grab the tissue box. Not only because I wanted to wipe away the small tears streaking my face, but also to wipe the device's screen clean after bursting out with laughter due to the humour, just after taking a bite of chocolate.
Sadly, I began with this book as I wasn't aware it was part of a series, still great as standalone, but I sure as hell am not missing the rest of this series.
Awesome stuff!

2 ~ For Everly by Raine Thomas
*****
I liked, well most part I loved it, because it is raw, real, relatable (not so much the meeting a Major League sport star, but that's the fantasy). Thomas has a really great voice as an author and I'll definitely read more of her work.
Everly is a damn strong character and I admire her will and courage. Cole is just a great guy I think many would love to have in their lives. There are great characters in the story, but some (two or three) could have maybe been left out.
Let me point out, Sam was a really cool little kid and Jaws was my favourite of all the faces you get to meet in the book.
The first actual kiss between Everly and Cole was so nice and fitting for the genre. I think I was swooning as their 'date', was my perfect example of my favourite pastime with my own partner.
I'll recommend this book to anyone who likes reading a romance that can make them laugh, cry a little and smile a lot at awkward, yet completely fitting statements given by the characters, during romantic interactions.

3 ~ Indelible by Bethany Lopez

The likes and dislikes:
~The beginning, telling her back-story, I thought would've been better worked into the story, because the first time I began reading this book, I had set it down for several months. I came back; and saw in the end it was still frustrating, but pushed on, but honestly I skimmed most of the beginning, as it bored me.
~A lot of sexual references and even if it is a character trait, well I disliked it, because not even ER has so much in, which is the reason I'm confused over how NA works.
~Oh giggles, for the upside down book trick.
~Exemplary book for the biggest and stupidest mistake a woman can make. Tell a guy you are a single mum, if he doesn't stick around, good riddance, women can make it on their own.
~If James and Judd were so close, why haven't James at least mentioned Judd or something? (I skipped a lot so I might have missed it)
~The first kiss was sweet.
~Overall pace okay, some things seemed highly unnecessary and others needed to slow down.
~The park scene was adorable, my ovaries exploded.
~It might just be my preference, but I thought it needed some editing, where it seemed parts were skipped.
~Very real life.
~The reveal of Karrie's father...WTF! I liked that.
~Would've liked a reason why James and Molly didn't stand each other, but likely something I missed with the skimming in the beginning.
~Aghhh! Saw this climax coming from the get go, which made me think that this is exactly like some old movie I watched in the 90s.
~Long-distance is not an excuse for this century, I've been doing it pretty well for two years now.
~Nice ending, but I wanted a little more.
Notes on characters:
Sam - She is a real, relatable girl.
Karrie - Her name made me think of Carrie by Stephen King, but the original movie...was not let down. She needed some serious obedience/manners training in the beginning, annoying as hell and even if realistic, I couldn't stand it.
James - A little offensive, stereotypical representation of a bisexual person, but I liked her for the most part. Likely, someone I'd hang out with as well.
Judd - Sounds really hot.
Dad - Does he have a name?
Molly - Is sweet.
Bill - Only character I loved.
It is an okay read, I liked most parts, but some made me want to pull my hair out.
