Jan Bartlett has no idea her perfect life is an illusion until she is blindsided. In a flash, her two-decade marriage is over, her world rocked by waves of shock and confusion. Gathering the shreds of her dignity, she severs all ties and walks away. And somehow finds herself in The Corner Bar.
Morgan Tate likes two friends who tell it like it is, and a woman who knows her own mind. The Corner Bar is her baby, its walls saturated with good memories—except the ones involving her recent break-up. She’s admired Jan’s beauty from afar for a long time, but something is different about the woman she finds seated alone at the bar. Without her husband. Doing her best to drink the place dry.
Jan finds refuge in Morgan’s comforting, genuine presence. And something more she never knew she needed. But the weight of their friends’ doubts makes them wonder if they should play it safe, or risk it all for something real.
Heal You is book three of the series that began with Study You, but can be read as a standalone. It is an age gap, professional/bar owner novel by bestselling lesbian romance author Melissa Tereze. Contains two freshly broken hearts, explicit scenes, and well-meaning—but wrong—friends.
Melissa Tereze is a best-selling author living in Liverpool, UK, with her fiancée and Golden Retriever. She holds a degree in Sports Development, and when she’s not writing, she can be found at a local bar singing one of her favourite tracks.
You can contact Melissa through her social media and her website.
Jan and Morgan are made for each other. Well, Jan didn't realize it until her marriage went belly up, thanks to her husband's infidelity. Morgan owns The Corner Bar, and has had a silent crush on Jan. When Jan comes in to the bar alone one night and the two women start talking. This is an exciting age gap, love story and burning HOT! I LOVE THIS BOOK! A FAVORITE! An ARC copy was provided by the author for an honest review.
Another great book from Melissa and what a great way to end the Study You series! I loved Jillian’s friend Jan and Finns bartender friend Morgan. So to get their story was amazing!! Loved every second and KA Walsh did an amazing job of the audiobook as always. You’re always in safe hands with these two!
Written in third person with 2x POV’s. Divorce/Starting Over, Coming Out, Age Gap (15 years), Bi Rep, Self-Discovery, 40+ FMC. 5x Spicy Scenes.
Melissa Tereze tells another of her heartfelt novels. As always, the characters are well developed. I enjoyed their vibrant chemistry as it continued to grow. The secondary characters were familiar and added to the story. The angst was well done, as well as the resolution. This had some good spicybscenes. I enjoyed this story and look forward to more coming our way in the future.
Finally I can leave my review for this amazing book. This book is one I never knew I needed, I will be buying the paperback version as well. Jan and Morgan’s story tugged at all the right heart strings, and kinda saw my own story in Jan and Morgan. I have always been into older women, and my fiancé and I have a big age gap of 18 years. So I love age gap novels and I’ve read so many of Melissa’s books but I am for sure adding this one into my top 5. This book got me in all my feels, and I truly fell in love with Jan and Morgan, me more with Jan for reasons I’ve already told you. I only wish I could read this book/ story for the first time again. Thank you Melissa for telling Jan and Morgan’s Story, I never wanted it to end. I can’t wait to see what you write next, you now have a fan in me for life. So if you need any reason to go read this book let this be it, me telling you to do so. You will not be sorry.
Second best book of the trilogy. It kind of seemed repetitive to me. The characters do a lot of talking and they talk about the same things multiple times throughout the book. Finn and Gill's opinions about Jan and Morgan's relationship seemed out of character for both of them and was really disappointing. The character of Amanda seemed superfluous, and when she reappeared near the end of the book, I'd forgotten who she was, so I guess the repeat of that conversation was useful.

I really enjoyed this book, the age gap between the couple doesn't feel like an obstacle, instead their personality and undeniably chemistry makes them the perfect happy couple. The meddling best friends scenes are unique and interesting and I am very glad that everyone is happy in the end!
Glad that Morgan got her story. Morgan who is always there for her friends and some of her customers with a helping hand or ear. She liked Jan but would never try or do anything because she was married. When Jan shows up to talk about how her husband had cheated and she was done with him. Morgan watched and listened to what Jan had to say. Bring in Gillian and Finn they are not happy with what is going on between the two. A wonderful story of what Jan wanted and that is Morgan
In my opinion this was the best of this series - but there's nothing wrong with the others. This one stars Jan, Gill's best friend whose life takes a temporary dip before she finds her feet and launches on the path to happiness. Yes - she leaves her husband after she finds that he's been having an affair, and jumps straight into a relationship with a woman, Morgan who owns the Corner Bar that they all drink in. Oddly enough, this puts her at odds initially with Gill and Finn. It all works out though in the end.
There is of course an epilogue - just to show us that they can have it all. And another holiday in Gran Canaria.
If you’re a fan of this series already, then you won’t be disappointed with the third instalment. Jan never disappoints, she’s an optimistic powerhouse who jumps in with both feet and it’s so refreshing to see a woman trust herself. I love that unapologetically embraces life and her sexuality, even in the darkest of times, there’s something so empowering and liberating about that.
I was a bit gutted that halfway through I started to dislike characters that I previously loved, but it wouldn’t be a Melissa Tereze novel without a healthy dose of angst! However all was well and right with the world again by the end.
This book is the least smutty in the series (yes, fewer full‑on scenes and more closed‑door moments), and honestly? It worked. It let everything else shine. The emotional journey, the cracks in the characters, and the growth—they became the real heat.
Jan Bartlett has her life peeled open: twenty years of marriage, comfortable illusions, and then—boom—everything collapses. Watching her walk away from all she knew, reach out of the void into something unknown, made me hold my breath. And Morgan Tate, steady as she is, doesn’t swoop in like a flawless hero—she’s real, wounded, hopeful, and stubborn. Their relationship doesn’t ignite with fireworks—it builds with trust, with conversation, with glances that carry weight.
What I loved most: the character development is genuine. I felt Jan’s fear of making the wrong choice, Morgan’s hesitation to hope again and open her bar—and their friends looking from the sidelines, doubting, nudging, messing it all up. The angst is subtle, the healing slow. And when they finally give in to what they need—yes, that moment hits.
Sure, if you pick this up for non‑stop steam you might pause. The sex‑scenes are fewer, more reflective, less spotlighted. But if you pick it up for emotional rawness, for two women rebuilding themselves and each other, you’re in for a treat.
Soooo good! I love all of Melissa Tereze’s books! Gillian and Finn are by far one of my favorite couples and now I can Jan and Morgan to that list! This book is perfection, from the chemistry to the spicy scenes! I loved everything about it!
When you're at your lowest, you don't expect to find happiness Incredibly emotional and, in many ways, unexpectedly heartbreaking for Jan. She thought everything was fine, well, at least that it would get better. But she was wrong. Everything collapses from one moment to the next and suddenly everything inside her is empty and uncertain. Except for someone who is suddenly there for her. Someone she knows, but not particularly well. Someone who is sweet, caring, gentle and, if Jan looks closely, incredibly sexy. If she even allows herself that. Even though she's not feeling well after what Phil has allowed himself to do, something is knocking at her subconscious, demanding attention - and gets it. But the focus here isn't on the physical in this beautiful romance. It's about self-esteem and simply allowing love in difficult times. Although Gillian and Finn surprised me a little too. I often thought: What? Why? What reason could they possibly have... But hey, I digress :) Confused? Well, I was too. I don't want to give anything away in reviews, but I have to say that Finn and Gillian really surprised me with their attitude. People who've been through as much as they have shouldn't judge. Of course, everything clears up, and our beloved couple somehow turns things around, but it also causes confusion and heartbreak. Fortunately, love still finds its way for everyone, and karma also brings justice for Jan. Many thanks to Melissa Tereze. Once again, it was Romangst at its finest!
Jan Bartlett is shocked to discover her husband cheated on her for a YEAR and cuts him off immediately.
Morgan, at The Corner Bar, has seen a lot of drama come through her doors, like Finn and Gillian. She's also seen Jan a few times, but knows she is off limits, as being married.
When Jan shows up day drinking, Morgan finds out about the cheating and offers support, while still reminding herself she's off limits. But Jan swiftly indicates she's interested, and despite her misgivings Morgan goes along.
Holy crap Gillian and Finn are being jerks. Like.... wow. I know the author wanted a third act breakup, but using these characters feels inept. Just WILDLY out of character.
2 1/2 out of 5 stars. Writing is mostly good but whoo boy, that third act breakup tho.
What a great book, love that the character Jan has found her way out of a white marriage with Phil and found love with a good woman. Love this addition to the Study You series, such great characters. Thank you!
This may be my favourite of The Study You Series. We’ve met the characters in the previous two books already so have an idea about who they are. This book turns what you thought you knew on its head! After a massive revelation Jan’s life is knocked off its axis. She seeks a tiny bit of normalcy in The Corner Bar owned by Finn’s friend Morgan. With no one to talk to Jan confides in Morgan, who drops everything to help out a friend. As the two become closer, hidden feelings (Morgan’s) resurface. That’s all I’m saying, I really don’t want to give anything away in regard to this stunning book. Out of the three books in this series…so far?…this one can be read as a standalone, but why do that when the other two add so much understanding of the characters.
This book pulled me in right away. Jan’s story of picking up the pieces after her marriage ends is honest and Morgan is warm, strong, and easy to love. The Corner Bar isn’t just a bar—it’s a place where both women find comfort and a way to move forward. Jan and Morgan’s connection feels real and builds in a natural, heartfelt way. It’s a touching story about starting over, finding love in unexpected places, and learning to trust again. Some well intended but not well received meddling as well :). Another classic from Melissa.
Your books are always very enjoyable to read. I love how you write and bring your characters together. Read all three books and immensely enjoyed them all. Great writing as usual.
Way to continue the series, well written and easily readable usual. The author creates believable characters that are flawed and damaged like reality, definitely read
This was a nice addition to the series. I loved Morgan and how sweet, patient and caring she was. It’s good to see the love interests fight for each other and for the most part had good communication.
Wow what a rollercoaster of emotions, the main characters were described with so much depth and emotion that has you laugh out loud and upset the next its a phenomenal read i couldn't put it down definitely must read congratulations
