Cards that evolve.
The world’s weakest class hides a secret that powerful factions would kill to control. And if Shouren doesn’t grow stronger fast enough?
They’ll find him. Or worse... enslave him.
This is a new action-packed crafting progression fantasy featuring a unique card-based magic system, deckbuilding, legendary classes, rare evolutions, and more! Perfect for fans of All the Skills, Quest Academy, and Primal Hunter!
Here I am reading a wonderful deck-building litRPG adventure on the RR, and fingers crossed it'll be posted on Amazon! Then I'll post this 5⭐ review. Because... well it's just hella good, and I truly love this sub-genre. Plus I want to give a Shout Out to every book written in this genre!!! This is Shouren's story as he sneaks into the dungeons first floor. He isn't even 6 yet, although his birthday is right around the corner. But, Shouren is not gonna allow bullies to ruin his, and his grandma's lives... No, not any longer. Over coming his fears, he dives in, eyes wide open! To defeat the floor he has'ta kill three monsters and through shear dumb luck, happenstance, and some smart thinking he goes on to kill the first three but continues on to kill something like ummm 17 of the beasties!!! And each one drops cards! The first card placed in his deck gives him his first trait! The Cardsmith... but it's cursed... what's that mean, hummm, a mystery to solve later, maybe?!? Garnering some insights from observing a blacksmith and gaining a hammer he's ready to dungeon dive again! And what's goin on with the corruption? It like a part of him but not, like it's something other. Could Shouren turn it into an ally, make friends with it? Or som'min? Hummm...
Here's a quote for yah:
“Grandma always said that violence is bad. I’m a changed boy, goat. And may peace be upon you.”
I have read many card stories in this genre and most are good but I sort of feel it is a short cut to avoiding a magic system as it is all about the card power.
Here the story is excellent. The backstory for the world and its Tower very clever. Most of all some brilliant writing about magic and the card powers.
Interesting world, very interesting premise.Lots of fun.I love the detailed explanation of the card.Construction and destruction shows a lot of thought going into the system. I'm big on crafting books. This one is close. Even if it's only crafting cards. That said, obviously, it's way more than that. All I can say is I can't wait for the next book. I probably should have waited to read this one so I could bench two or more. Oh well
Really enjoyed this first book! Slow and so filler, but good overall!!
Not knowing what was expect I was a really surprised at how much I enjoyed this book. The main character was fleshed out well and maintained his free agency to make decisions throughout the whole book. Never once did his actions feel forced or illogical. The main character's age is young so you forgive some mistakes and having a clear logical plotline story for once really made this book engaging. There were some slow parts while trying to explain the magical system in the world building, and a little bit of filler and repeated knowledge but not enough to wear a ruined the engagement of the story. I was very impressed at how the main characters abilities and powers were explained and brought to life with the detail that made the main character interesting, not boring! Overall I really enjoyed this book and thought it was a strong contention for the start of the series in this genre. I really look forward to book two and hope the storyline can maintain the main characters free agency and making his own decisions. Highly recommend this book!!
This was an entertaining read. There were a few things I didn’t like. One, the MCs insistence on trying to scam everyone got old after all. Two, all of his insights were basically handed to him. He deconstructs a card and basically gets handed word shattering secrets every time. Three, the fact that immediately ends up on the radar of the world’s major powers seems really contrived. Despite these shortcomings the book was still enjoyable.
This author must be another of the Russian authors we are seeing turn up. The plot and story are very convoluted and it many parts difficult to understand the storyline. Is it a translation? It uses terms like Brat a lot. Something I have noticed with other Russian translated stories. Not a solid rea I would not bother
I gave this book a shot and I wasn't disappointed. I think the writer did a good job getting me invested in a new system. I think if it was just deck building and throwing them out like yugio I would be bored but since he went much more involved in the magic system I was enjoying the book and I'm sad I can't read ahead on royal road.
New approach to the old shtick. I enjoyed the character and progression. My only complaint is the intense dive into sharding cards. But it’s a common complaint I have with other authors where they extol a 0.005 increase and show the excessive math. Dumb it down slightly and the story flows better.
It took me a bit to get through this. It was very good. It just seemed to struggle to find itself at the very beginning. Still, it's well worth the read.
I enjoyed reading this book very much and I recommend this book to anyone who likes LitRPG and progression types of books with lots of actions. Interesting card magical system. Want to see how it is developed.
This was a blast to read! Talk about a villain origin story! All about your love for Grandma. The magic framework is great, the martial stuff needs work. But overall this book kicked butt!
It was an entertaining story. There were some things that didn't really make sense to me. Such as the spatial hammer stuff. And I found myself skipping a lot of the dialog because it felt nonsensical and irrelevant.
I really love this book, had trouble putting it down. I like how the main character is gaining power but not at a crazy rate. Only aspects of his abilities are manifesting rapidly. Can’t wait for the second book!!
When it's moving along and the MC is interacting with the world the story is great. When he's going on and on about things in his own head, especially when in the middle of a battle, it's a bit exhausting. Overall quite positive.
This was a fine book to kill some time in a waiting room. There's a little too much effort spent trying to be 'funny' and for something I was reading mostly as an unconventional power fantasy, the protagonist doesn't actually power up as much as I'd hoped by the end.
I needed a break from romantasy books and this really hit the spot! It's a great rags to riches plot with this unique card-magic element that was a nice refreshing change from other LitRPGs. I am definitely reading the second book as soon as it's released!
A really interesting novel I’m ngl, a little bit of a slow start due to world building and setting the scene but I was hooked after the first 2 chapters! Good job can’t wait till book 2s released
