Murder Unforgiven: A Bennett Chandler Mystery

Intense American Civil War Saga
Starting at the beginning of the American Civil War in the City of Baltimore where divided loyalties create volatile schisms between neighbors and families, this historical novel is packed with love, hate and gruesome murder. This is a multifaceted tale of a seemingly unrelated horrific event paused for four years while the key players head off to fight the war - one for the Union and the other for the Confederacy. War-damaged physically and emotionally they return to Baltimore only to resume the hatred. With a plot that keeps evolving with brutal and shocking revelations, the lives of all those affected collide in a fiery suspense-filled climax.
This is a first novel by author Martin Husk which does not disappoint. This historically based volume includes many details regarding Civil War era people, places and events. I can’t wait for the next edition, and hope the stories keep coming.

Refreshing Historical Fiction
It’s a typical detective story. There’s murder, blood, rivalries and romance. Each new fact builds on the truth and holds up pretty well throughout. What really captivates the reader is the historical perspective and attention to detail about post bellum America, specifically Baltimore, and the characters involvement in that era. It’s a terrific first effort, well researched and executed. Highly recommend reading.

4⭐️ Historical fiction set in Civil War times. This book was a departure for me. It seems I typically read Historical Fiction set in WW2 times & also typically women authors. This was an excellent debut that revolves around soldiers who lived in the state of MD. Some fought for the north, some the south. After the war, they came back to live in the same towns side by side. The characters felt real. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

This writing style is approachable for all readers, regardless of your genre preference. The author does an impressive job of crafting a web between characters that is complex and dynamic, but at the same time easy to follow as the reader. Plot twists, poetic justice, and descriptive imagery- this book has it all.
