Red Flag Green Flag

The Player falls first and falls hard. But he's not the brother she's dating..

Lacey Brandt is done with F-boys. F-boys times five if you count her newly-ex fiancé. So done that she has an Instagram meme account called "Red Flag/Green Flag" for her fellow sisters in the dating trenches. Between her untrusting heart and her ever-escalating social anxiety, she vows that the only prescription is to return to her affluent hometown of Greenwich, Connecticut for a restorative year of being “boy-sober”.

Which lasts a full 72 hours before she’s wooed by her high school crush, Beau MacAvoy, now a dashing, wealthy, Wall Street broker. Beau is, in her words, “green flags all around”: Successful. Intelligent. Gorgeous. Everything she’s looking for.

Until she meets his older brother, Dane. A walking red flag if she ever saw one. Taller, sexier, more dangerous than Beau, with a reputation to match. To her alarm, their chemistry is off the charts. Like, kryptonite off the charts.

When Beau arranges for Dane’s construction crew to finish remodeling Lacey’s barn apartment, she has to steel herself against her own desires, which only grow stronger as they get to know each other. But what if people aren’t who they appear to be? And why is Dane’s gravitational pull affecting her heart as much as her body? The trauma that they each have in their past could be the key to opening the door…or shutting it forever.

Deliriously divorced and living my best life in Mystic Connecticut, avoiding the tourists at all costs who are here to see Mystic Pizza. (fun fact: the movie was NOT filmed there).

I am a retired extrovert. That was the old me, please don't ask me to come to anything. Unless, of course, it's cocktails at a cozy tavern. I will be there.

Likes: kitchen dancing, pomegranate cosmopolitans, scrolling TikTok, bingeing my comfort shows, and those ASMR videos where they cut the glass fruit.

Dislikes: strangers who don't say hi back. wtf.

The first romance book I ever read was Shanna : I was like 11 and found an old paperback in my grandfathers house. I started reading it and was like - WHOA. Why tf have I been reading this Little House on the Prairie nonsense.

The first humor book I ever read was Eloise.

So with those two influences imprinted in my tiny brain, I set out (picture me at 11, with an old-fashioned suitcase, walking down a lonely road) to fulfill my dream of being a spicy romcom author.

We'll see how it goes.

This was a solid 4-star read for me! Suzan Leigh’s debut novel is both funny and sweet, making it a perfect beach read.

Our FMC, Lacey, has had her fair share of bad boyfriends. Ironically, she runs a social media page dedicated to calling out red flags in relationships—yet somehow manages to overlook those same signs in her own love life. Enter the MacAvoy brothers, and things really start to get interesting...

Leigh brings a charming voice to her storytelling, with plenty of laugh-out-loud moments balanced by heartfelt ones. I thoroughly enjoyed the ride and look forward to seeing what she writes next!

Thank you to BookSirens for providing me with an ARC of Red Flag/Green Flag in exchange for an honest review.

Lacey has a social media page pointing out dating red flags, but she tends to miss then in her own relationships. After another breakup she heads home and runs into two brothers. She is instantly attracted to Dane, but she sees red flags with him. On the other hand she sees green flags with his brother Beau and decides to date him. Things are not always what they seem. And through all this Lacey is still dealing with PTSD from something that happened 12 years ago. I enjoyed the story but feel that things wrapped up too quickly and neatly at the end.

I wasn’t sure about this book going into it because I am not a fan of any kind of cheating - but I actually found myself getting into the story that Suzan wrote

There were a few things that I loved and some that I wasn’t too fond of. I loved the Quadpod (consisting of the FMC and her friends), the backstory of how the FMC & MMC met, and the Instagram page the FMC has.

What I didn’t love was the format it was written and this is just my personal preference because I enjoy a dual POV. I also wasn’t too thrilled with the insta-love/lust between the FMC & MMC. Again this is just personal preference

Overall the story of Lacey and Dane is meant to be read. They both manage to live their lives with PTSD and with secrets/rumours that could threaten their relationship. The supporting characters from the Quadpod as well as Dane’s brothers help round out the book.

Suzan was able to create a story that had meaningful interactions, vulnerability, humour and spice.

Red Flag Green Flag is a sharp, sexy romcom that delivers on both the laughs and the feels. The chemistry between the main characters is electric from the start, and their banter makes every interaction feel fresh and fun. What begins as a spicy dating game turns into something far more emotional and meaningful as both leads confront their baggage and personal red flags.

The story finds a perfect rhythm between steam and sincerity. Just when you think it’s all heat and humor, it sneaks in moments of vulnerability and growth that hit surprisingly hard. If you’re into smart, modern love stories with depth behind the spice, this one is a definite win.

Red Flag Green Flag is the debut novel of suzan leigh and I just happened to win a kindle copy in a goodreads giveaway! I will say for this being her first novel it was really good and it was hilarious. When I read contemporary fiction I like a nice story that is going to make me laugh and this novel did the job! Overall I was quite impressed and I hope the author releases more books like this in the future.
Our plot focuses on a young woman named Lacey who has had her fair share of bad relationships. However, it has inspired her to run a social media page which points out all the red flags of a relationship which when you think about it this method is actually quite convenient.
Although her plan to avoid men altogether fails when she goes back to her hometown and happens to be introduced to her high school crushes brother. Who by the way displays all the red flag signs that she so diligently teaches other women about on her social media. Will love bloom between these two or will Lacey give up on relationships all together?

This was cute!! Definitely a palate cleanser type of book for me. It was a little slow in the beginning for me and I almost DNF'd but decided to push on and finished it in 2 days. It felt a little predictable at times but I still enjoyed it. The flirting and banter made it worth it! It was heartwarming and funny. I LOVED all the references like Damon Salvatore and Cassian and Saweetie. Makes it more relatable for me. Definitely interested to see how the second book goes for Tiff!

I loved this book—5 stars! I couldn’t put it down.

The characters were complex and well written, and the chemistry between (at least) two of them was very hot.

Bonus points for the FMC’s friend group—I adored their dynamic.

The storyline had just enough twists to keep it from feeling predictable.

If you’re a fan of Tessa Bailey or Elena Armas, this one should definitely be on your TBR.

The title of this book catches the eye immediately ( I mean, who doesn't check red flags vs green flags?). I love to find new authors to enjoy and this one did not disappoint. This was a beautifully written story. I loved both the FMC, Lacey and MMC, Dane. They both had past traumas that shaped who they are and the author did a great job sharing their inner thoughts and feelings. I was engrossed in their journey from the start. The side characters brought so much to the story too, they were not just "fillers". The way their personalities added comic relief and how they supported the main characters was fun to read. The "Brads" :)
Usually I prefer reading books with dual 1st person POV, but this book was 3rd person POV. That said, it was so well done and I was thoroughly enjoying reading it so much, that the POV did not matter. The title of the book said it all too ..."spicy romcom". The spice was spicing (3.5 peppers). There may be some spanking involved :). This book gave me everything I needed in a spicy romcom.
This is the first novel novel from this author, and I will be looking out for more. I think there is some unfinished business with some side characters that I think could show up in a follow up book. This could be the beginning of an interconnected series and I am here for it.

I received an eARC of this book via BookSirens and this is a voluntary review.

Red Flag, Green Flag

How do you move on after being cheated on, again? For Lacey, she left Boston and moved home. Her family and friends are there but what she didn't expect were the McAvoy brothers. Beau & Dane were so different but she could see who was the red flag and who was the green. Right?

The chemistry between Dane & Lacey was off the charts and it was fun, watching them dance around each other. There was so much more to this story, with past events bringing on PTSD and watching them deal with it was hard but Suzan dealt with it beautifully.

I do wish that we had a more of the story at the end as I feel it was a little bit rushed but otherwise, this is a great read and I look forward to reading more of Suzan's work.

So much fun! Loved this fast pacing love story. Could not put it down. Lots happening, interesting main characters, their chemistry flew off the pages.
The steamy bits were so sizzling hot, I was glad I read it digitally and not on paper…
Favorite quote: "All the better to hold you down, my dear," he growled, with a wicked smile.
Can't wait to read the next story!

The chemistry is absolutely electric—every scene between Lacey and Dane sizzles, but it’s the emotional depth and vivid flashbacks that truly hit. This book had it all: heat, heartbreak, healing, and a connection that lingers long after the last page.

Really glad to have got to ARC read this from Suzan!

Lacey Brandt is engaged to be married to Josh. Lacey is currently seeing a therapist due to some dreams of Hannah dying that she can't overcome. And the distrust in men. (Im not quite convinced the therapist knows how to help her). I totally question this woman, who leaves a $5.00 tip through the drive thru at Starbucks?

When she arrives home, Josh is running late and accidently leaves his phone. Curosity kills, and Lacey invades Josh's privacy and sees messages on his phone from his current and ex secretary. She doesn't confront or question him. he just packs up and leaves. Josh doesn't even bother to respond. Wedding off. Lacey arrives in her hometown and does some flirting. I actually see now why she's seeing a therapist.

This story was all over the place, some repeat paragraphs, and many mistakes. I did not finish, so I stopped at Chapter 5. I could not get into it. The story did not hold and maintain my attention.
