TW don’t read this manwha if you get triggerd by suicidal or gr@pe!
I personally liked this for the plot and character development. I really HATED when the alpha (don’t remember the names) gr@ped the omega. Like, no, control yourself please.
2.5 - and most of these were for Euihyun and Euiyong being best brothers. This arc was incredibly sad and difficult to get through, and though there is light at the end of the tunnel in terms of Taeju’s development and character arc, I can’t get past his SA of Euihyun even so far into their ‘relationship’ as it stands in this volume. Not that they have a proper relationship (yet), based on season 3 of the webcomic, given that it’s mostly giving stockholm syndrome here.
Having already finished season 3 I can say that I understand what the author is trying to do, in terms of them both loving themselves and each other in different ways, but for me Taeju’s arc to realising his abusive and manipulative ways could have been expressed without Euihyun’s explicit SA. For me, Euihyun’s journey is the driving force here and I just want him to be happyyyyy (I know he will but my goodness. Trigger warnings for everything.)
Ohhh does it make me a masochist for loving this series??? I know it seems so bad with these two traumatized characters hurting each other (more Taeju doing the hurting) but I’ve already read the entire series online so I know what’s to come…. And I can’t wait for it. It makes all of this worth it.
Side note: Euiyoung is too damn cute. The tooth situation was sweet. I love Euihyun’s “stink face” whenever Taeju is too affectionate… Taeju naked in an apron… LOL. Boy is crazy.
Check out my series review on volume 1 (posted prior to additional volumes being added to this site). This series has its problems—but, I enjoyed it very much overall.
Taeju undergoes a transformation during the course of this series that is so delightfully unexpected. He’s UNRECOGNIZABLE by the time we get to the bonus stories. It’s really incredible~
I saw someone on twitter comparing Seungho from painter of the night to Taeju, both being a "red turned yellow turned green flag".
How dare you compare the complexities of a character like Seungho to the absolute hot garbage that is Taeju. I am so sorry but i absolutely hated him.
I genuinely disliked almost every character and plotline with the exception of Euihyun and Euiyoung like everyone else can fuck off and die, TAEJU FIRST. What a motherfucking piece of shit oh my god im so mad this was such a waste of talented artists and plotlines.

— Now your worries have become mine. What can I do? Besides desperately hope that none of my worries become yours too?
I didn't expect to like this that much. The premise was original. I was hooked almost from the start; never bored, even gasping audibly at some of the plot twists. The progression was organic and believable—not rushed (thank you). The humor was pure gold. Taeju is such an idiot and so much garbage leaves his mouth, but Euihyun is having none of his bullshit, haha. I found myself laughing out loud and snickering time and time again. I particularly like the art style and color scheme. ♥
It starts off pretty dark and I can understand why many people find it problematic, because it is. It's riddled with red flags and trigger warnings. No easy resolution. It’s messy and things get way worse before they get better. It’s definitely not for everyone, but then again, I have already been “trained” when it comes to morally grey characters, so maybe I’ve been numbed to these things a bit.
But honestly, I felt like the payoff was truly worth it. The characters go through tremendous growth. Some people might think that some behaviors are inexcusable (and for sure, they are horrific), but I believe everything's not black and white. People can make mistakes and redeem themselves. And at the end of the day, if they’re happy together, it’s none of our goddamn business. I guess. 😉
Let’s be honest. Euihyun was trapped from the beginning due to his father's irresponsible actions. If anyone should be blamed for Euihyun's situation, it's him. Taeju got him out of it, somehow—even though he also did it to trap him so he wouldn’t leave, which obviously isn’t okay. But he put his little brother in school. He bought him a house. He provided for him. Aside from the debt, which he allowed him to pay off, though not in the most savory of ways... He did a bunch of things to make his life better that he didn't have to do. Although one might argue he was “maintaining his possession”. For sure, it's a gilded cage, but ultimately, Taeju just isn't the one who took his freedom away. If not for him, the two brothers would have been long dead (since chapter 1, literally).
I feel like the way Taeju is is in great part due to the world he lives and grew up in. Not excusing his actions, especially earlier on, but it's easy to tell that he is not entirely bad and that he is, in fact, not the worst guy Euihyun could have ended up with (especially when you put everything in the perspective of an ABO world, where inequalities and exploitation are pretty much a given). After reading the later parts, despite what they might say about themselves, one can tell that they are both genuinely good guys, it’s just that circumstances forced them to be that way.
The moment Taeju realized that he could lose Euihyun, that he couldn’t keep him tied down forever, was so incredibly painful. And just as much every time Euihyun rationalized that the way he missed Taeju when he didn’t come home for a while, the way he craved his touch and eyes on him, and his fear of becoming obsolete to him weren’t due only to the fact that Taeju held his life in the palm of his hand, but also that he had already become irrevocably attached to him.
The brothers’ bond brought tears to my eyes. Some of the purest, most beautiful scenes are between them. The way they are literally everything to each other. 😭 When Euihyun gave Euiyoung away, I cried my eyes out… and then when Taeju followed him to the sea to prevent him from (at least, he thought) trying to kill himself again… man, I was a whole damn mess. What a magnificent end to season 2.
I guess they remind me a lot of He Yu and Xie Qingcheng from Case File Compendium. They have a similar journey where the top does something unforgivable to the bottom then traps him in a horrible blackmail “deal”. With time, the top develops feelings while the bottom grows increasingly jaded and tired, and, by the time he begins to develop his own share of feelings, the relationship has become so damaged that there is no repairing it. The only thing left is to rebuild one anew on top of the ruins…
Probably the only thing I didn’t like was the smut. It was very well-drawn, just too… freaky? I don’t know, Euihyun had the most hilarious expressions all the time. It was just a bit awkward? I don’t know if this is intended but it didn’t do it for me. 🥲😅 Sorry, author-nim…
I’m pretty sure this isn’t the last volume but since it’s the latest on Goodreads I wanted to leave a review without spoiling the story’s resolution. The endgame IS ABSOLUTELY worth it. It is so happy and wholesome I couldn’t stop smiling. I love how Euihyun hasn’t lost his temperament but has also softened a lot. How Taeju dotes on him like crazy and is just in constant awe of him. They have grown so much. 😭 And they are so good for each other after it all.
Honestly, this was much deeper and empathetic than I would have thought. A refreshing, surprisingly hopeful read. I'm glad I stayed till the end.

Will a series like this ever get an English print edition 🤷♀️ but it finished up on Lezhin for the English translation back in October so I’m marking the 3 volumes on here read. There’s 100 episodes online so not sure if they are all crammed into the three volumes or if the 3 represent the 3 seasons? Again who knows but I finished it. I’m just going to review based on the series and copy paste although I’d give season 3 5 ⭐️ compared to the other two as I think the story and our alpha really work hard for their redemption.
This series started off a little rough for me what with the whole omega being saddled with his dead beat dad’s debt and chances by loan sharks this deciding suicide and taking his little brother with him as he walks into the ocean to drown is a pretty dark beginning not to mention the alpha is the loan shark collecting on the debt and coerces him into a sexual relationship to pay off the debt. A nice tried and true 🚩 trope of BLs.
I actually paused it for a bit in season 1 because I thought it was a little too toxic in that I didn’t see how the omega was getting anything out of the relationship but it’s a very popular series and gets mentioned a lot so figured I’d give it another go to and managed to get sucked in.
I don’t love the other trope that’s used to excuse the SA in season two (I think) where alpha loses his mind when he’s in his rut and ignores the omegas pleas to stop and that it hurts because his hormones have taken over. I just think there are so many other choices authors can make to give the reader similar angst, drama or spice rather then the “he couldn’t help it so it’s okay” trope🙄
Season three is where I think the relationship has a lot of growth and communication starts working. Trust is built but most of all the alpha has a huge character growth where he’s faced with having to come to terms with how the omega has never had a choice in the relationship regardless of how the emotions are because ultimately the debt is still there.
If you aren’t triggered by red flags including non con and dub con. Then it’s definitely worth the read. Otherwise skip.

I think this may be the most toxic queer omegaverse I've read so far. This certainly isn't a complaint. Sometimes I just want something fictional angst, a touch of a toxic sexual relationship, and an underlying sweetness behind it all. Low Tide in Twilight has hit it all so far. I really, really love this manhwa.
I absolutely the relationship between the brothers, Euihyun and Euiyong. It's very clear how much they love each other and my heart breaks for how much Euihyun is drowning despite the love he has for his brother keeping him around. Taeju really offsets how sweet the brotherly love is with just how much of a walking, talking red flag he is. I love him as a character but he is certifiably awful through much of this.
I do see character growth so far with the two volumes we've gotten so far. I'm excited to see even more, desperate even. I just really love everything about this. The story, the characters, the art all make this exactly what I want in an omegaverse manhwa.
