Home broken into.
Someone tried to drag her into a car.

I’m the most powerful man she will ever meet.

I built my empire from nothing.
And when I say she’s under my protection, that means no one touches her. Ever.

But when I show up… she’s not alone.

There’s a little girl clinging to her leg.
Two years old.
My eyes. My blood.
She never told me.

Now they’re both mine to protect.

She says it’s just for safety.
Just until the threat passes.
But she’s wrong.
Because now that I know what’s mine…

I’m never letting her run again.

Incomplete

Nothing about the plot made sense in the end. So many unanswered questions. The main question is "What was the reason?" Why was Harper targeted? What was that flash of memory she had? What was the connection to Elias Vale? What did Elias have planned? What did her being an influencer have to do with anything? What did Elias mean by reconditioning Ivy & for what? After the rescue Why did Harper keep saying that Gideon came back to them as if they had a long relationship before all this & he left? Where the heck did all the extra family members come from at the end? The book started out great but after the confrontation with Rafe it became obvious that another writer entered the chat because nothing flowed anymore an it felt like chapters of important information was removed. I gave 3 stars only because it kept my attention hostage in hopes that it would eventually come together only to b disappointed.

Heavy On Angst

First things I'll say about this is that I wish it was tagged with the Age Gap trope. While the FMC is never mentioned, it's implied she's in 20's, further supported by the fact that her pregnancy wasn't higher risk due to age and no mention of her older brother being close in age to the MMC. The author doesn't outright mention or try to allude too much, but it's uncomfortable, knowing the MMC was ALREADY in his 50's when they met. Please tag this as an big age gap, I was hoping for a much older woman with some maturity, even if she was a wounded soul.

While I understood the FMC for her worries and anxieties, I wish there was more background on her life before. Her childhood and all that. (Another reason I think her age isn't outright mentioned.) The irrational doom spirals and decisions make sense with her anxiety, it was definitely frustrating at a certain point when her daughter's safety was paramount. Damsel in distress trope heavy here. Though, to be fair, much of it is warranted.

MMC is tender, protective, and understanding. He spends a lot of time in turmoil, especially when he learns of his daughter's existence. Much of the book is him struggles with his feelings towards FMC about keeping his child a secret. But later on his struggles with learning other things in his life aren't what they seem either.

Ivy kept me reading. I wish there were more meaningful scenes with her building a relationship with her dad. I wish there were more signs of how traumatic the experiences were and showed her being more weary of the MMC. Children of anxious people do pick up vibes when something's wrong.

I found it okay. I kept reading for the baby, though I was troubled by the age gap.

didn’t work for me

After reading the full book, I still don’t know why Harper was targeted and what was her repressed memory about.
I was also didn’t understand why they didn’t go to Gideon’s house instead of a safe house. Finally, it made no sense why Harper was upset about Gideon and his company. First of all, he didn’t really know her, she lied to him for 3 years, then all she had was a vague shape of a man. What was he supposed to do besides what he did and put Nathalie on the case?
Also I didn’t like the insinuation that just bodyguarding is not enough

Good book

The characters were ok, I felt like there could have been more depth too them. Harp character could have been stronger. There were alot of unanswered question, like what trauma did she first experience and why was the villian fixed on her? I was confused with the whole part. Also didn't like the lengthy of the book spent on talking about them being in isolation in the safe house, started to become alittle boring . I like the authors, but this book was not one of my favorites.

Disjointed

This story lacked intentional introductions of characters and contained gaps…initial story has Harper calling Gideon from her apartment and Ivy is sleeping…did I miss it, how did we get there with no mention of Ivy during the near abduction. No resolution of what happened to Harper the three years prior. And Mack, Gideon’s only family member, we don’t know about him until the wedding and he’s officiating… Lots of missing pieces.

Daddy By Accident

Storytelling was missing too many scenario details. No explanation on what Harper saw that night at the bar when she had the panic attack and met Gideon. Harper was to naive & jumpy. Surprise at decline of writing 😩😩

3 stars

Harper and Gideon reunite after 3 years apart because someone is stalking Harper. Gideon finds out he's a father. Harper has to deal with her insecurities and anxiety. The was one part where she was being foolish. There was an unknown threat to her and her daughter, and she leaves the one person and place where she's safe - Gideon. It made no sense to me. Of course, he has to rescue her. Of course, they end up happily ever after.

simply ok

There were so many plot holes. What really happened at the influencer event? Did someone actually pass away? Why were they trying to kidnap her? So many questions were left unanswered. The brother and father were never mentioned before, yet suddenly at the end, the father is officiating the wedding, and the brother just appears out of nowhere as the “perfect big brother.” It all felt rushed, confusing, and like there was just too much going on in this book. I gave this book 3 stars because it had great parts but to have two authors yall both was slacking.!

Read the 1 star reviews!!!

Anyone who gave this book anything other than 1 or 2 stars, had to be paid. The beginning was okay. It definitely jumped without any type of explanation. You don't get a sense of a timeline. One minute Ivy is watching tv then takes a nap, the next minute the morning light is shining though but it has been a few hours. Like what?!

Harper has zero character development. I actually think she regressed even further. You leave the safe house protected by a skilled body guard WITH your child to go stay with your friend?! And the blame him for actions.

I refuse to finish this book. I was so excited to read this book. Now I gotta binge some books to get one of the worst FMC written.

Nonsensical Storyline

I’m disappointed. The story was very disjointed and actually made little sense. For example the synopsis said she had a little girl clinging to her leg when he showed up. Nope! As a matter of fact it seemed as if she were going to leave with him and just leave the baby there. Synopsis stated she, the little girl, “had his eyes” again nope! The writer intimated that the fmc witnessed some sort of incident and that was never fully developed. So many more instances that drew me completely out of the story. I picked this up because of Twyla Turner, but this was not her.

ok

Spoiler…

1. The 2 year old talking in complete sentences is wild.
2. It’s crazy how the issue was initially about her keeping the baby from the dad and then it’s how the baby mamma can’t trust him because he’s keeping her safe and she’s uncomfortable. Make it make sense.
3. The rest of the story is good, the above mentioned just irked me.

Decent story

This was a decent story, but I was left with two major question, why were they after Harper? And what happened on the night that she can’t remember.? I felt there was no clear resolution to those two points in the book which is why I gave this book 3 stars.

It was okay

I finished the book. But I didn't quite enjoy it. It felt rushed. And the reason for Harper being in danger wasn't flushed out enough for me. Like I'm still lost. But it was an okay read

Waterworks Galore

These were some crying a** people. It seemed like every two seconds, someone was getting misty eyed or just flat out crying.

Also, why was Gideon and his team so lame? They made amateur mistakes and were not what imagined an elite military team would be like.

Not Clear

I appreciated the story because it didn't dwell too long on any one issue. However, in my opinion the reason wasn't clear as to why she was being stocked.

overall ok read

It was an ok read. A bit repetitive at certain points and never really understood the plot of the story. Why were they after her at all?

A rollercoaster ride I would gladly take again!!

Whewwweee Chile, this book was absofrickinlutely amazing!! When I read the synopsis, I had no idea what this book had in store for me. But when I tell you these ladies did the dang thing with this story. Trust and believe these authors took this reader to the edge, dangled me over the cliff, pulled me back up only to throw me off the cliff!

The book starts with Harper reaching out to the one man she never wanted to connect with again. Gideon Rourke, the father of her daughter Ivy. Harper's in trouble, and she needs Gideon's help. The only problem is that Gideon doesn't know about Ivy. And that alone sets the stage for some tough moments in the book. Gideon finding out about Ivy and the danger Harper's in sets the tone for some of the best reading in what is now one of my favorite books by these two authors. This book is jammed packed with action, violence, sexual tension, steamy smexy scenes, laughter, sadness, anger, fear, joy, and elation. One thing I can say for certain, imo is that this book was definitely not boring!! Every page, every chapter, kept this reader captivated, engaged, experiencing a whole host of emptiness, and anxious to see what happens next. The twist she turns that took place had me scrolling back through the digital pages, making sure I understood what I was reading.

If i could I world give this book 10 stars. That's how much I enjoyed Gideon, Harper, and Ivy's story. Jazlyn Starr and Tyla Walker ATE AND LEFT NO CRUMBS WITH THIS BOOK!!! If you like silver haired mmc, whose ex-Delta military with BDE who vows to protect his strong-willed fiercely independent mfc at all costs no matter who he has to take down, then you will love this book. It truly was a great read, and I highly recommend it.

Unfinished and by that I mean that's how the book felt, not that I DNF.

This book started off really well. There was a bit of mystery, a couple connecting after three years, a very attractive MMC and a really cute little kid but at times it felt disjointed. The FMC is having a panic attack at the beginning of the story but we're never given any indication as to why, she has "built walls" around herself but we are never given any indication why. The FMC is being stalked, she has locked herself in her bedroom and yet she's left her two-year-old child in her own bedroom and if the stalker got in he could have got the child. It's as though the author forgot there was a child for a while.

After the mole is discovered that's when the book seemed to change. Firstly the FMC decides she can't trust the MMC and clears off to a completely isolated Cabin in the Woods - just what you need to do when there's a stalker after you! She decides the MMC is untrustworthy and it's his fault that there was a mole in his company, feeling that he didn't believe her yet before they reconnected, he literally met her once then she lied to him for three years about the fact that she had his child. Why wouldn't he trust his team who he had known many of them for years including them mole?

I skim read the last 20% because it just turned into a hot mess. It appears there's some big international conspiracy with a super Tech guy but we never find out what happened that made the stalker go after her. What was the flashback she experienced, what actually happened? It's never explained.

The first 40% was good but I will not read another of these books by two authors.

⭐⭐⭐½ — Enjoyable, but not unforgettable

This one-night-stand-turned-surprise-baby setup definitely had my attention. The tension was there, the protector energy was strong, and I won’t lie—I’m a sucker for a powerful man discovering he has a child and immediately going full mine mode.

That said… this landed firmly in good, not great territory for me.

The premise does a lot of the heavy lifting: secret baby, forced proximity in a luxury safe house, scarred alpha stepping in to protect what’s his. All solid tropes, all executed well enough—but nothing felt especially fresh or emotionally deep. I wanted more reckoning for her disappearing, more emotional fallout once the truth came out, and a bit more substance beyond “I’m rich, dangerous, and now obsessed.”

The little girl was adorable and definitely added heart, and I liked how quickly he stepped into protector mode. But the emotional reconnection between the MCs felt a little rushed and convenient, like we skipped over some important conversations in favor of moving the plot along.

Overall, it was entertaining, easy to read, and hit the trope checklist nicely—but it didn’t quite deliver the emotional punch needed to push it into 4-star territory.

Solid read. Just didn’t fully stick the landing for me.

The story is well-written, but I'll list the things that kept it losing stars:

- I can't accept a woman not giving her daughter's father a chance to be present and then pushing them away by hiding the fact that he's the father from him.

- Who the villain was was extremely obvious, so it would have been much better if it ended up being her friend Cam or literally anyone but Rafe. It was so obvious it was boring.

- I hate how authors make their characters so dumb so they can be in danger and the book ends. She's being chased and decides to leave the only place that will protect her and go on a trip? Girl, I don't care if you can't stand being locked up in the house for a few days, just accept it and shut up. She just put her own daughter in danger just to "prove a point," and why the hell did Gideon let them go???? JUST LOCK THEM UP. I don't care if she gets mad afterward; the important thing is his daughter! And it didn't go unnoticed by me that she literally separated her daughter from her father for the second time. I don't know how they got together because I couldn't forgive her

Decent Read

Gideon and Harper's story had all the feel goods and the HEA you're wishing for except some chapters dragged on a little longer than necessary. After all the chaos and the healing started then the final chapter with the HEA should have started but we had some chapters after the chaos and the reconciliation that stretched the book out too long. Gideon and Harper both had flaws and were practically strangers who had one night and created beautiful little Ivy. Harper involvement in her influencing world brought the trouble to her doorstep and she calls Gideon for help. Gideon then learns his company and #1isnt as loyal as he thought and that he isn't Delta Force anymore. I just loved little Ivy and she was the best part of the book. Overall it was still a decent read.

The story line was good …

But the actual book was extremely repetitive. Same dialogue and feelings repeated multiple times, just different words. Details would change randomly, like Tye was an old friend Harper hadn’t spoken to for a while , to being her brother at the end. Gideon started out as a strong and caring character and ended being more mush than I expected. With him being former Delta and owner of a security company I expected more from him. Harper was a strong mom to Ivy, but never understood why she was so set on doing everything on her own, needed a little background or reason for that. I had a hard time finishing this story because of the mush of Gideon and repetitiveness of the dialogue.

Alright

OK! This book was alright. But there were/are so many inconsistencies in this book. The plot and storyline was good but inconsistent. The heroine cried throughout the whole book! Jeesh! All the crying I'm surprised that she wasn't dehydrated! Too much! The story would have been a whole lot better if the editing was done in a consistent manner. They failed the author on that. Too many errors in the story. No real explanation behind the menacing except for jealousy on his friends part. Never an explanation for her. Good luck., though. I've read other books by this author and she isn't bad.

Lost and Found

First of all, I loved the one night stand love that resulted in a family.. a truly complete family.

But I had a real issue with Harper. I understand anxiety and the voices, but whatever techniques she had were not working for her and more than she could recognize. She was harming Ivy rather than helping her. I also felt that when you asked for help from your baby's father, you accept the help no matter how it makes you feel.

I love Gideon because he was all about protection and love.

I would have liked more info on the Elias Vale influencer information and how Harper was involved and how/what Rafe's involvement.

Good read. Full of action!🥰

Daddy. By Accident is full of intrigue, deception, and attempts at kidnapping. The story begins when Harper is having a panic attack and Gideon has to help her calm down. They slept together and parted the next morning. Gideon gave Harper his card in case she needed him. Two years passed Harper contacted Gideon because someone tried to kidnap her, but she got away. When Gideon met with Harper, he found out she had a 2-year-old child who was his, named Ivy! 😍 Check out this book.

This was a wonderful story that takes us into the lives of Harper and Gideon. Their journey is eventful, and they have to go through and overcome much if they want to be together, regain trust in each other, and be able to cope with adversity. They fight for each other and their love, ultimately forming a family with Ivy.

I received an Advance Reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Why

I loved the story. I'm having trouble trying to figure out why the bad guys were after Harp. What was the break in and the failed kidnapping all about? I felt like I missed something. My other disappointment is the honeymoon love making. I dislike when a treasured moment is made ugly. Surely a better description can be used words can be used to understand the love the couple has for one another. And yet, I enjoyed the book.

Speechless

Harper and Gideon a love story born out of anxiety and fear.

At first I was lost reading it but then not only was Harper anxious but so was Gideon because he never imagined the possibilities.

Trust, betrayal, jealousy, angst, narcissistic personality and the list could go on. But they chose to love, heal, trust and support in order to survive. Form family through blood and friendship.

This book has many layers.

Not perfect, but good

This book has emotion and action in a good balance. I would have liked a more well rounded explanation of the storyline. Why everything was happening, what caused it and a better resolution to the situation. I love the relationship but the story needed to be fleshed out a bit more. Action without explanation leaves holes in the story and we are left with too many unanswered questions. The motive is missing, hinted at in in the end just left hanging.

outstandingly good

I enjoyed this story. The characters pulled me in and I could not put the book down. A child was conceived on the night the couple met. He finds out years later. Someone tried to kidnap her, so she called him for help. He stepped up. Unfortunately, a person betrayed him and his security business. After much trauma, an HEA was achieved. It is an entertaining read. Enjoy! No cheating, no cliffhanger, nice epilogue.
