She caught the tear with her finger before it fell from his chin, watching as his lips parted to reveal long, sharp fangs growing from his top canines.

When Lowen Lawrence is invited to participate in the annual Moon Water Ritual, she unknowingly unlocks an ancient curse, turning her life upside-down. With two mysterious--and gorgeous--strangers pop up in her sleepy Midwest town of Moon Creek, Lowen is both intrigued and alarmed. Sebastian, with his forward flirtation, and Wesley, who seems steady and familiar, both appear to be keeping secrets. The problem is: Lowen can't seem to stay away from either of them.

When teens are found murdered in town, Lowen understands how dangerous her life has become since Sebastian and Wesley recklessly barged into it. With the help of her friends, Noah and Taylor, she must dive into the mysteries of alchemy, telepathy, and witchcraft in order to figure out who is haunting the woods of Moon Creek, or else become a ghost herself.

I’ve had the absolute honor of getting to know Courtney through the writing community, and watching her stories come to life has been nothing short of magic which is why I need to scream about it from the Moon Creek rooftops!

If you were or still are (because honestly, same) a Vampire Diaries fan, stop what you’re doing and grab this book immediately. It fed my soul, wrecked me and ultimately left me begging for more.

Seriously, this book is dreamy, haunting, it’s just everything! You’re going to LOVE the town of Moon Creek and all its characters. Dare I say, you won’t regret a single bite.

Meet Me in the Woods is available now so make sure to grab a copy.

Moon Creek is a seemingly typical small Midwestern town with a lot of magic, mystery, and danger bubbling beneath its surface. And we readers are here for it!

Teenagers Lowen, Noah and Taylor have been friends since kindergarten. After taking part in a local ritual at the creek, they become aware that their hometown isn’t normal—and neither are they. There’s danger in Moon Creek of the supernatural variety, and the trio finds itself in the middle of danger.

When two mysterious strangers—Wesley and Sebastian—come to town, the mystery and peril only increase. What are they up to? Are they enemies or working together? And why are both young men so interested in Lowen? Lots of questions, and author C.R. Reece adds plenty of layers and twists to keep you guessing until the very end.

But Reece also keeps the book grounded. These are real teens, with dreams, fears, insecurities and passions. MEET ME IN THE WOODS is a book with heart, as well as intrigue and adventure. I also love that she carefully curated a playlist, with a song representing each chapter.

If you like teen drama with a supernatural element, MEET ME IN THE WOODS is one you will want to check out!

Meet Me In The Woods…

A slow burn with an ambitious crescendo.

I hesitate to give any kind of summary because one of the most intriguing parts of the plot is that not everything is as it seems in Moon Creek. But if you were one week into a SuperNatural, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Harry Potter, and True Blood hyper fixation, Meet Me in the Woods would be the dessert course following an impressive menu.

Set in a small, seemingly accidental mystical town, Meet Me in the Woods follows a trio of friends, Lowen, Taylor, and Noah, as they find out there is more going on under the surface of their quiet town… and even more going on in their hearts and minds. Full moons and mysterious visitors, odd coincidences and chilly nights, bonfires and crunching leaves- the beauty of fall described with dark imagery stretching across the page in almost poetic detail.

“Despite all of this, she felt her pulse quicken as she rushed down the path until she saw it looming ahead of her like an exhausted spine surrounded by perfect postures.”

Goosebumps! Ahh!

C. R. Reece continues to set the scene with a curated playlist to go with the story. Each chapter is titled as a song track that elevates the mood, not in a gimmicky way, but adding levels of immersion.

Tucked away in small breaks from the supernatural are beautiful, human moments… friendship, family, addiction, grief, longing, your first love, your first loss- innocence juxtaposed against fantastical characters.

Knowing the author, I can see parts of her in each character. I see her in the moms, in the teachers, and in flashbacks of our youth in the young friends… She put her soul into this story.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Meet Me in the Woods and eagerly await the next chapter of the Moon Creek Sage.

When Lowen, Noah, Taylor are selected to participate in a secretive ritual Seniors of Moon Creek High complete every year they aren’t sure what to expect. The ritual doesn’t go exactly as planned and soon our trio finds themselves wondering what secrets and strangers their small town holds.

What a bang up debut novel. CR Reece manages to weave tension, mystery, and folklore together to create a charming small town with a lot to hide. I loved the found family in this novel. It would have been easy to have Lowen navigate this situation on her own but Taylor and Noah add so much dimension to the story. I loved this world and cannot wait to visit it again to see what Lowen, Noah, Taylor, Wesley, and Sebastian face next.

One thing about vampires, witches, etc…there’s no shortage of new ways to spin the lore!

I was really excited for this one, and it didn’t disappoint. Meet Me in the Woods is a fun read that combines ritual magic, witches, vampires, alchemy, mystery, and romance, all under the guise of luck for the football team, something almost anyone from a small American town can understand. I couldn’t wait to find out how it all tied together.

Great debut, and I look forward to the sequel.

Many thanks to the author, Story Origin, and Wild Ink Publishing for the ARC.
