Maddox McKenna wasn't used to begging. Or coaxing. Or cajoling. Or tempting. As a matter of fact, he wasn't used to anything that had to do with struggling to get someone to say "Yes!" because he was a grizzly. Grizzlies did not ask, nor compromise, beg or cajole. They simply breathed and everything stepped into line. That was the grand design of nature; it worked in his favor. As the mightiest of mighty beasts, he never once thought he'd be in a position that would leave him at a loss of what to do. At least not until the day he met Cree Chayton. Sporadically violent with sharp claws and an even sharper tongue, the mysterious beauty not only fascinated his natural curiosity about things smaller than him but she stimulated...other parts. There was just one issue--HER. She wouldn't give in to his desire to see her naked and starry eyed! She avoided him, injured him and refused to greet him shirtless with a smile. Not only was it an outrage to his delicate honey adoring sensibilities but it was a bit of a blow to his ego. However, when Cree's normally stand-offish behavior veers into territories that make Maddox frightened FOR her rather than OF her, he has to wonder if her reason for refusing the advances of his straying groin have to do with a genuine disinterest or something deeper. The option to leave her be is there but he simply can't because he believes wholeheartedly that she's just what a bear needs...
When Nikki wrote her first story in the tenth grade, she knew without a doubt she was destined for greatness. Now if she could just convince everyone else... Buckling down, she‟s taken the time to polish what she refers to as her "writing superiority." She hopes that the tales she has created grab the readers‟ attention, and make them devoted slaves to her will fans.

3.5 stars - it's dependent on the reader being familiar with the first book, and it takes a while to get off the ground, but it's still funny, sexy, with a good bit of action at the end. If you're into shifter roms, I'd recommend it.
This was 2.5 until about 90% into the Kindle version. The romance was flat, the banter was never humorous or even smirk inducing (which made most of the swearing/sexual references feel gratuitous- it was like being promised Dave Chappell and getting stuck with Dane Cook), and too much time was spent not entertaining me with secondary characters. However, the lore of Cree's people, her abilities, and a rather fun show down saved this from being a failure for me. Cree and Maddox were just really meh until way too late to make this a book I would read again or recommend.
As humorous as book one in the series, though the course of events was entirely unexpected. I found this good, and...not bad...but, perhaps not as deep as I might have wanted
I get the additional paranormal aspect of this tale as something to set it apart from other tales that create a series out of its characters. I get that it deepens the story line to something beyond just another Alpha-meets-Alpha- does-the-Alpha-Tango-Lives-Happily-Ever-After offering. And I was intrigued and excited about this turn. But given all the shifters causing Cree her difficulties, and given my love of shifter stories, I would have loved to see a bit more of each of the entities within; how they were an integral part of her and became accepted by her, via her interactions with them. I would have loved to see more of that after the climactic event of her journey, and not just the triumphal return home. There was a great deal of build up and conflict as she came to understand her gift, but no insights into how she dealt with each of the personalities her gift contained, once she came to peace with all parts of her being. Having that would have solidified this book as something completely apart from the usual.
Having said that, I loved the humour that goes with Ms Winter's otherwise classic romances. I wonder if we will see what species can possibly tame Anoki. I'm thinking lion...something uber dominant. Yep, that's what I'm thinking...
Ok first off Mads is da shiznit I mean he really. I bear jumps 10 feet in the air and screams like a gurl (rude, just rude) lmbo. I flove this series. I hope we get Anoki, Cade & Madya's stories and I'm hoping Cade & Madya's is a 3 some (10% Plez lol) anyhoo....... I wasn't gonna read this one cuz of a review from Amazon but I figured I had to if I really wanted to kno if it was as good as Ransom's and Fal's story and it was. I won't give spoilers but I will say you have to stick with it. I kno Cree seems like a b*tch but she has her reasons.
Silly story. Like the previous book the main characters, Cree and Maddox, are unlikable. The humour was forced and the plot strange. Apparently none of the males has been taught how to treat a female with respect and the two female leads have not one shred of grace or dignity. The females, Cree and Fallon, are written as if they are physically strong, immature teenage boys with all the inappropriate slapping, punching and swearing you'd expect from this age group. Maddox's attitude was repugnant and sleazy not at all endearing which I surmise the author was going for. I don't know if this book was edited but there were some glaring errors. Aside from the many spelling mistakes Ms Winters needs to use words and terminology properly. She misused the term sotto voce (and misspelled it) several times. The verb for drag is dragged not drug, bovine refers to cattle and boar refers to pigs. Very lazy writing or editing. I found myself skimming pages just to get finished. I won't be reading any more of Ms Winters efforts.
Maddox and Cree's story is the second book of this series and it was fantastic. I have been waiting for this since reading What A Bear Wants and it was everything I expected Maddox was his usual self leaving plenty of opportunist for his brother to smack him and Cree was great. This book was funny with a great love story all wrapped up in a short book. I would suggest reading What A Bear Wants first to truly enjoy this book.
Love this series. I had forgotten I read the first one in 2014, so now I am catching up. So funny in the inter action between Maddock and Cree. Please let there be more books in this series. Do we have to wait long. In the mean time I will check out this authors other books. She has a great sense of humour and good storylines.
At first I thought I would have to give this book just 3 stars. I had feared it would not be as funny as the first book, but I was gladly surprised. Funny, lovable and hot!! I can't wait for the kiddos and for everyone else's book especially Anoki and Malayki' (i'm sure I spelt those wrong) books. At least I hope they have books. Great series and can't wait to read more High 3 stars :D
