Getting Cozy with Demons #2

Oh No! There's an Ifrit in my Cosmic Cafe

Rate this book
I astral projected to cheat at poker and landed myself in witness protection with a brooding fire demon. Oops.

Now my family’s hiding out in northern Maine in a busted-up café my brother won in a shady bet. The place is a disaster: cursed sugar jars, haunted espresso machine, and oh yeah…a smoldering Ifrit who runs the interdimensional bar behind the walk-in freezer. He’s all fire, fury, and don’t-touch-my-cups energy, and we clash over everything.

We share a dangerously thin veil between realms we’re determined to fix—since we don’t want to see any more of each other than we have to. But when a pissed off mob mage sends his goons looking for me, suddenly Mr. Smoke-and-Glare decides I’m his problem to protect.

The longer I stay, the more I want to know what it’d feel like to melt under him. He might be bound to the bar, but I’m bound to him by something else entirely: temptation, tension and the growing certainty that this fiery demon might be the only one who can keep my family alive.

If he doesn’t burn my sanity (or my panties) to ash first.

Each of the novels in the Getting Cozy with Demons can be read as a standalone. In Oh No! There’s an Infrit in my Cosmic Cafe, Jade get’s caught up in a police raid at the gambling hall she is using her magical skill set to get her family out of debt and free her family from the Chinese mafia imprisoning them abroad.

After agreeing to testify, she and her family (her teenage brother and grandmother) decide to hide out in Maine after they win an abandoned cafe, The Cosmic Cafe. Only something is different in the kitchen where the veil is thin. Here, Jade meets Rhazan. Rhazan is imprisoned in another plane and runs a bar. When the two encounter giant space cockroach with an affinity for sugar the two work together to create wards.

I absolutely loved the banter and chemistry between Jade and Rhazan. I laughed aloud at her nickname for him and the bickering that was anything but. We learn why Rhazan was imprisoned and about a secret law enforcement agency that monitors them.

As Jade and her family work to reopen the cafe, we meet new allies, discover hidden dangers and learn that Jade has not yet unlocked her full powers. As outside dangers grow and the relationship between Jade and Rhazan deepens, I found I could not set this book down.

The story has depth, heart, humor and plenty of sizzling heat. I rooted for them and was curious about the world revealed to us. For fans of the series, we get to see the previous couple who are tied to Rhazan. Secondary characters enhanced the story, from a new friend to grandmother’s wisdom.

Oh No! There’s an Ifrit in my Cosmic Cafe was another fantastic cozy from Holt. I confess I am looking forward to the next Demons book. You can find book one, Oh No! There’s an Incubus in my Hot Spring, on Kindle Unlimited and Audible. Oh No! There’s a Demon in My Bookshop will release in June 2026. This review was originally posted at Caffeinated Reviewer

HAHA SUCKERS! I got to read this early and lemme tell you, I somehow liked it better than book one?!? 💅🏼🥵😁 (that’s saying something bc I loved book 1)

We get new characters in book 2 but the same aspects that had me coming back:
🌶️ that sweet, sweet spice🌶️
🔮 magic - unique and fun 🔮
🫶 found (& also blood) family 🫶
😈 sexy marshmallow demon who may melt hearts & other things 😈

I love these characters and how it’s true to the style of the first story but also uniquely its own. If you like cozy spicy paranormal ya best get on it sis 😇💅🏼🤭

Was blessed with the ARC for @emberholtwrites Oh No! There’s An Ifrit In My Cosmic Cafe! I only have one thing to say: RhazDaddy! As a HUGE fan of monster romance of all kinds I was super excited to be able to read the ARC for this book! This is the second book in a series called Getting Cozy With Demons but can be read as a standalone, but trust I will be going back to read the first! If you want slow burn then put this down because the train is going and it’s not going to stop. From the first interaction between Jade and Rhazan the sexual tension is HOT and keeps getting hotter as the book goes on. Theres also magic, family trauma, hot demon romps, LOTS of “firsts”, and Chinese Mafia that keeps the story (yeah there’s a plot too not just smut ya heathens) flowing between the smut. Did I mention there’s hot demon smut? Cuz there is! I do really enjoy the character depth that is shown in Jade and the growth she has as a person in learning to trust others and find her inner strength. I also love when stories have characters of different cultures and said cultures shine in ways that respectfully and properly display the culture. This also helps show those who may be un knowledgeable of a way living different views of life through someone else’s normal. The plot and the smut are both very well written and intertwine with each other in a full speed ahead story that will keep you wanting more and more! P.S this hits close to home as someone from Maine myself and the story taking place in Maine!

Phewww this had me breathless a number of times. Super hot, leaning towards kinky with plenty of action. Sure as hell ticked a number of boxes. Jiahui /Jade uses her astral projection magic to cheat and swindle to pay off her family's debt and support grandma Nai Nai and her little brother Ace. After an altercation with Chinese Mafia Zhao and a police bust, they had to go into hiding. They end up in the Cosmic Cafe in Maine with the Ifrit Rhazan, a fire demon. Sparks fly, punishment is involved which sparks even hotter episodes. Without revealing spoilers, be prepared for juicy scenes, plenty of magical creatures, even a firefluff Soot (demon pet), twists galore, a HEA and a family reunited. Absolutely another great read.

OMG this was such a fun read, and I am giving it a 4.5. This is the 2nd in the series but you don't have to read the 1st before this one as the characters yes make an appearance but them and their story have no impact on this book. It's more like seeing old friends. I think this book of the two was my favorite simply because I love the FMC Jiahui/Jade as well as her grandmother who was a hoot. All the characters were actually. This is a cozy fantasy but there is a conflict so it's not low stakes but the conflict in this book doesn't feel overwhelming so someone who is looking for an easier mental read with some spice would enjoy this.

What I loved about Jiahui/Jade is that she is definitely sassy and bratty so she will definitely make u laugh but she has taken the weight of her family issues on her shoulders so that her grandma and brother so you can see her strong will to preserver and take care of those she loves. So, I really enjoyed reading her and I especially loved reading her when her bratty behavior came out for Raul and I loved reading him and how he handled those moments. The chemistry and spice between these two was off the charts. With Raul while he definitely has a firm hand when it comes to Jiahui/Jade he was also so safe and warm (haha see what I did there) when it came to her. The times he would just hold her as she had a panic attack was just so sweet. Like I said they had chemistry and spice.

The plot of the book was engaging, and I could have finished it in a day I was enjoying it so much. This is definitely a fun series for people who want an easier read that has plot to go along with their spice and love monsters.

---

This book is about Jiahui/Jade who uses her ability to astral projected to cheat at cards but this time instead of a winning hand she and her family end up in witness protection up in northern Maine. To keep themselves afloat they decide to refurbish and reopen a cafe that her teenage brother won from on only shady raffle. Not only is this place a wreck but there is more going on that she could have imagined due to the thin barrier located in her freezer between realms. This means she is getting surprised visits from interdimensional cockroaches who are after her improperly stored sugar as well as a hot demon ifrit demon bartender who loves to like to get all up in her business. They are determined to fix the barrier so that they don't have to deal with one another but the more they work together the more this hot-tempered demon starts to think of her as his responsibility and wants to take care of not just her but her little mob problem as well which seems to have found her and followed her to Maine. As much as she tells herself she doesn't like relying on him and his help she knows that he might be the only one to keep her family safe even as she tried to resist giving into his fiery touch.

I received this as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

HAPPY RELEASE DAY IFFY!! <3

I'm so excited to finally set this story free. It was such a fun book to write, and though there was more action/combat--and also a faster burn that normal--it's definitely the best book I've written to date (other than the one I'm writing now!)

Jiahui is such a beautiful, strong woman, forced to grow up too fast, who carries the weight of her family on her shoulders. Rhazan is a tortured soul, just looking for peace after a lifetime of pain, and he finds it in Jade. I know there are a lot of readers out there who will relate to her, and so I hope her journey to healing helps heal a piece of you, too.

Here's to a great new year! 2026, I WILL CRUSH YOU BETWEEN MY THIGHS WITH A WARCRY!!!!!

“I will always protect my mate, no matter the cost.” 🧎‍♀️

Jade and her family land in witness protection and end up moving to Maine to take over a cafe that is in need of major upgrades. What isn’t disclosed in the contest her grandma “wins” is that there is a bar on the other side of the veil owned by a broody shadow demon who likes to pop up on their side whenever he wants.

The action in this book starts with page 1 and does not stop. I couldn’t put this book down. There is a perfect amount of spice intertwined with the action. Jade is so real for allowing Mr. Rhazdaddy to tie her up within a couple of days of knowing each other.

Rhazan and Nai Nai made me giggle a lot! You know what, the whole Feng family made me laugh a lot. It’s so clear that they would do a lot for each other and for the people they surround themselves with. It’s so heartwarming 🥹💗

This book is fast paced with found family, bondage, gang activity, wax play, violence (no gore) and more. Be sure to check the content warning before reading!

Thank you to Ember Holt for allowing me to advance review!

From the very first page, this book reminded me exactly why I love paranormal romances that lean fully into chaos, heat, and heart. 🥹🔥 Coming back into this world and seeing characters from Book 1 pop in felt like being welcomed home—with claws, magic, and a slightly haunted espresso machine included. ☕👻

The setup alone hooked me: Jade had astral projected to cheat at poker (iconic behavior tbh 😂✨) and somehow ended up in witness protection with her whole family in northern Maine… inside a run-down café her brother won in a shady bet. And honestly?? The busted counters, cursed sugar jars, and interdimensional bar hidden behind the walk-in freezer made the setting feel so alive and weirdly cozy. I could practically smell the singed cinnamon. 🧂🔥

And then there was Rhazan.
RhazDaddy.
RHAAAAZ DADDY. 😩🔥🔥

The moment Jade and Rhazan collided, sparks flew—actual ones, courtesy of the brooding Ifrit who radiated “touch my cups and perish” energy. Their dynamic was immediate, electric, and unapologetically hot. This was NOT a slow burn—the tension barreled forward like a runaway train, and I was absolutely here for every heated look, every bickering moment, every “I hate you but also I want to incinerate your clothes” interaction. 😏🔥

What surprised me, though, was how emotional the story felt beneath all the spice. Jade’s growth hit me harder than I expected—watching her learn to trust, to stand strong for her family, and to break free from past trauma added so much depth. Her cultural background also shone beautifully and respectfully throughout the story, giving the book a richness and grounding that balanced the supernatural mayhem. 🌙❤️

The plot moved fast (like, demon-on-fire fast): interdimensional rifts, mob mages with grudges, protection spells gone wrong, and a demon who kept insisting he didn’t care—while absolutely caring way too much. The way the smut and the story intertwined felt seamless, each fueling the other until it all exploded into a finale that left me grinning like an unhinged gremlin. 🫠🔥📖

I loved every messy, magical, horny minute. This book was cozy, chaotic, tender, spicy, and unexpectedly heartwarming. Exactly what paranormal romance should feel like. 💫❤️‍🔥

💕 Perfect For Fans Of…
❤️‍🔥 Grumpy x Sunshine
🔥 Demon love interests
🚪 Forced proximity via cursed workplace
😏 Instant chemistry, instant chaos
🧋 Cozy-but-haunted café settings
🥺 Found family (with trauma but healing)
👀 “I don’t care about you… except I do” energy
🌶️ High heat + high heart

Thank you to Ember Holt and BookSirens for the ARC opportunity! 💖📚🔥

The second book of the interconnected standalones has a more interesting storyline than the first book✨ the pacing is fast, the plot is unpredictable, even though the atmosphere is cozy there is a touch of suspense. the female lead, Jade/Jiahui, is strong, sassy, and she doesn't rely on men to save her and Rhazan is a massive fire demon, a grumpy one but very sweet to Jade and her family. the first meeting between Jade and Rhazan didn't start out well, but he gave her the protection spells/mark from the very first time they met. even though it seems like an insta love, there is a genuine and undeniable bond between them...they are truly compatible, Rhazan lives by absorbing pain, and Jade loves the pain. I've never read a book with BDSM in it, but I don't think the romance in this book dominates the story too much. A good action and relaxing read✨

"I want to see you again."
The admission hurts my stomach.
I want to see him, too.
"Maybe you will."
He huffs and smoke curls around us.
"Wish it so, and it will be," he says as he presses his thumb on my mark.

Jade, her younger brother Ace, and her grandmother have to temporarily move to a busted-up cafe in Maine after Ace wins a lottery—the cafe, which also becomes their hiding place from the Chinese mafia who held their parents captive. but inside the cafe is a thin veil on another world guarded by Rhazan, a fire demon, an ifrit. The veil can easily be passed on by dangerous creatures who can bring chaos to the human world. since Rhazan can't leave his realm for too long, he leaves his mark on Jade's hand, that if she needs him immediately, just touch his mark and he will come anytime, especially when the mafia guy manages to find Jade and her family.

Oh No! There's an Ifrit in my Cosmic Cafe is the second book in Holt's Getting Cozy with Demons series. This paranormal fantasy, monster romance features Jiahui (Jade) Feng and Rhazan Malakar.

Jiahui has the ability to astral project and uses it to cheat at poker. When she finds herself arrested, she offers evidence and testimony on a big fish in the Chinese mafia, one which has been threatening her family for too long. In order to disappear for awhile, she, her baby brother and their grandmother move to Lennebunk, Maine where her brother, Zixin (Ace) won a cafe. Their plan is to fix up the rundown location as use to actually make some money. It is there that she meets Rhazan (aka RhazDaddy), an Ifrit.

If like me you didn't know what an Ifrit is, I looked it up: "Iftrit: a powerful, often demonic, type of spirit or demon in Islamic and Arabic folklore, a class of jinn made from fire, known for their immense strength, shape-shifting abilities, and association with the underworld." There's more to it, but that will at least help you understand that Rhazan is a demon.

While Jade expects the worst, it turns out that Rhazan's appearance in their family's new establishment was completely altruistic. The two start out with some entertaining banter, and slowly get to know one another. The sexual tension between the two builds until they start a very spicy relationship, one which includes spanking and bondage.

I enjoyed this latest instalment in the series. Jade has a lot of pressure on her shoulders to be present for her family. Everything she does is for them... until Rhazan. (She does him purely for herself. LOL!) It was nice to see her evolution of character, allowing herself to open up to others and lean on folks for support. She never loses her delightfully feisty nature. As for Rhazan, one might expect the worst from a demon, but this one seems to have a heart of gold. He has learned from his past mistakes.

I'm already looking forward to the next release in this series, Oh No! There's a Dragon in my Bookshop, which is currently expected to be released in June 2026.

First of all thank you Ember Holt for giving me this opportunity as I was obsessed with Sylvia and Apollo! LOVE all the cameo scenes!!!

Jade (Jiahui) is a badass mage with Astral Projection powers and will do anything to support her family...including get on the wrong side of a Mafia and make a deal with the police so she can continue to provide for her family. She and her family go into hiding and that is where she meets Rhazan our hot and grumpy MMC who has nicknamed her Firecracker at first site. She has major bratty sub energy and I am here for it!!! The situation with her parents is heartbreaking and the level of responsibility she feels towards keeping them safe is horribly unfair to her!

Rhazan is hawwwwt figuratively and literally. He is a grumpy secret cinnamon role, who is flirty and respectful and will protect the FMC with his entire being! We also of course love a man who respects consent!!! Also his nickname by Jade is Rhazdaddy I mean!?! 🙈🙈🙈

Jade and Rhazan are volcanic!!! Their chemistry is crazy!!! Within two times of meeting their flirting and banter is off the charts...not to mention the dom/sub dynamic they exhibited almost instantly! I can't count how many scenes I felt fucking FERAL in!!!! The aftercare had me melting!!!!

The plot was so fun! A mix of magic, sweetness, mafia, spice, and fated mates!!!! I loved all the side characters especially Nai Nai 😁.

Would 100% read this book again!

Fav quotes

"Because your body carries my magic now. And if anyone else dares touch what's mine...I will burn their soul from the inside out."

"Look at you...Ready to take whatever I give you...You'll be a trembling mess when I'm through."

"This shame does not serve you, or suit you. You're my Firecracker, bright, and hot, and loud, and full of sparks that can set the whole world aflame."

My spirit had been half as bright before him, and will never be as bright without him. This is not temporary. This is not a tryst...This is forever.

This just solidly landed not just in my favourite/comfort book list but author too!

This is book two in the series, I have not read book one (absolutely will be!!!) they are in the same universe but can be read as a standalone.

I think in all honesty this is the first book I’ve read outside a Disney novel that has a Chinese American FMC, it was really wonderful getting tiny tastes of her culture and traditions even in just the way she spoke with reverence to her Nai Nai.

Ok holy wow where to start?! There is martial arts, demons, witches, bdsm, queer representation, literal out of body experiences, interdimentional police, Chinese Mafia, trauma responses… honestly this book has everything and a bit more!!!

It’s such a fast paced ride from the start, the spice picks up quick but gentle a teaser of what’s to come but you don’t have to wait long - thank goodness!!! I do really like that in my mind you aren’t sacrificing plot for smut, the author does a great job of world building, character development and storytelling.

The FMC is a feisty, strong, brave, sassy, top from the bottom submissive brat kinda gal, she’s flawed, she has panic attacks and she was a virgin. She is headstrong and is trying to keep her family safe, forced into hiding, trying to make an honest living for a change -while raising her brother with her elderly grandmother, her parents are stuck in china against their will. She hasn’t known love that builds you up and sets you free within the safety of its unyielding power, she’s not really even had friends.

The MMC *fans self* will forever be known as Fire Daddy in my mind. He is a literally a fiery demon, he’s a bit of an asshole, he is possessive, strong, tender, empowering and has been hurting his entire life until his Firecracker comes along.

I have so many thoughts and feelings about this book, they all revolved around telling you to pick up a copy asap, sit down with a cup of tea (loose not bagged, it will make Nai Nai happy), embrace the fire and celebrate this glorious read.

ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Getting Cozy with Demons is one of those series where each book can be read as a standalone, but I really loved seeing characters from book one pop up again, even if it was just briefly. 💕📚

There’s definitely a shift from book one to book two, in a good way. It has more action, but is somehow still cozy and fun. The world and magic system expand a lot here, and suddenly there is so much more going on. In this book, we go from witness protection and mob bosses in the human world to secret magical organizations and even space cockroaches?! 🪳🍬✨ Completely unhinged yet we’re here for it. 💅

Honestly, I would 100% re-read this on audiobook (first book included) 🎧 I feel like the audio version would add so much flair and personality with the right narrators. This series feels like cozy fantasy mixed with sci-fi cartoon / anime action vibes, but with spicy, steamy scenes, and still somehow comforting at the same time 😌🔥 The cast was just fun overall, both the main characters and the side characters.
Jade’s witty, sassy, a little bratty, and deeply devoted to her family. Her relationship with her grandmother and teenage brother was one of my favorite parts. One felt the love, stress, and responsibility she carries for them 🤌 Watching her learn to trust others and accept help was honestly so satisfying to read 🫶
Jade and Rhazan together were great even if I would have liked to see more scenes of them together (makes sense in book)! But this book gave me a court case scene that was fun to read🥹. The spicy scenes were mid-level spice with kink, but I actually liked how the kink was tied into demon magic and power. Rhazan’s dynamic with Jade is playful, tender, and very hot because of it 🔥 The spice adds extra sizzle, but even without it, this story would still be a fun and engaging read.
I also really appreciated how protective, grounding, and emotionally safe Rhazan was for Jade, especially during her panic attacks 💗
I look forward to more books especially since this book opened for so much more. 🌟

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ (4.5/5)
Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

If you’ve ever wanted a book that feels like sipping a sweet latte while absolute magical chaos breaks out behind the counter, Oh No! There’s an Ifrit In My Cosmic Cafe is it. This is book two in the Getting Cozy with Demons series, but it reads beautifully as a standalone. It drops you into a quirky, heartwarming world of stubborn heroines, brooding monstrous men, and just the right amount of spice.

We follow Jiahui, who makes the teeny mistake of astral projecting to cheat at poker and accidentally lands herself in a situation where she needs to lie low as she’s wanted by the mob. So she, her brother, and her grandmother flee to northern Maine and take refuge in a busted-up, space-themed café. Oh, and there’s also an interdimensional bar sharing the same space on a different plane. Nbd.

And then there’s Rhazan: a smoldering, broody fire demon/ifrit who runs that bar and gives off immaculate don’t-touch-my-stuff vibes until you start seeing what’s underneath. The chemistry between him and Jiahui snaps into place fast, and every interaction feels like flint striking steel: sharp, bright, and inevitably catching.

I had so much fun reading this book. The story balances cozy small-town café life with mystery-and-magic mayhem—mob trouble, magical + mundane law enforcement complications, and the kind of interdimensional monster problems you absolutely do not want to deal with while trying to get your coffee shop up and running. It’s fast-paced, funny, and sprinkled with that warm found-family heartbeat. A special shoutout to Jiahui’s grandmother, Nai Nai, who is genuinely a gem.

If you love cozy chaos, grumpy demon energy, and a clever, snarky heroine, add Iffy Cafe to your TBR.

Thank you so much to Ember Holt for the eARC! All opinions are my own.

ARC reader review:
Firstly, thanks to the author for the copy of the book!
It follows the story of a Chinese family, who got into trouble with the Chinese Mafia, had the parents taken, and had to turn to crimes to pay their debts. And while the protagonist turns to crime, she never seems like the bad guy.
They are forced to move as part of police protection, and end up opening a Cafe. At the Cafe there is a weak spot between planes of existence, and Jade meets Rhazan, an Ifrit, who is fuelled by pain. They quickly get involved, turn out to be mates, she defeats the Mafia people and they live happily ever after, parents freed and everything.

The storyline was decent, and there were key features that were good - the strong grandmotherly presence, the need to take care of her younger brother, the fear of failure at being a substitute parent and matriarch of sorts.
I personally didn't like how fast paced the book was, but perhaps that's just me being used to more of a slow-burn style. I also thought it was strange that Jade was a virgin, but instantly involved BDSM into the relationship, calling the Ifrit 'RhazDaddy' (not a fan), and wanting him to spank her. That felt rushed and unlikely (there was also some choking that felt out of place for a new relationship). Also, Jade thinks that Rhaz definitely would've made her pregnant because of the amount of cum he had - er, sorry love, that's not how pregnancy works (also, I found the description of his huge loads filling up condoms extremely off-putting, but I'm aware others may be into this so whatever floats your boat).
The wax scene was good. I also liked the fight scene and that Jade managed to spar with Rhaz decently.
I wouldn't rush to recommend it, but if the themes are something you're into it's a nice, easy read that didn't take a lot of time or focus.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

Jake and Captain Holt's stint in witness protection if Jake was Rosa and got romantically involved with a Demon Daddy.

This book is a cozy romantasy novel with just a *dash* of action. Something you could easily pick up on the beach, as a palate cleanser between heavy books or casually pick up on work breaks.

When the book starts out, the pacing feels a bit... clunky, but once you're a few chapters in, the author found her groove, and the pacing picks up to a rhythm that's enjoyable to read. The language used in the books feels comfortable, like talking to a friend (if your friend went into very explicit detail about submitting to and, subsequently, getting absolutely railed by a fire demon).

The world building is incredibly neat, though details of how policing works felt highly inaccurate. Perhaps that's why the beginning felt clunky. A bit like the author was trying to figure out how to get the characters TO the Cosmic Cafe.

I really like my spicy books to showcase the emotion behind the acts, not just spelling out spicy times in excruciatingly filthy detail. In that way, this book very much landed for me.

Overall, I highly recommend if you're into light BDSM reads that feature fated mates and you don't mind a bit of a stressful background (a sibling essentially raising her sibling because her parents are gone and dealing with the trauma from that). It didn't bother me, but for someone with related trauma, it might bother them.

Thank you for the wonderful read, Ember! I'm definitely checking out the first book and excited for the third!

This book was so steamy I almost forgot that it is firmly below zero where I live, and will be for several months. Honestly I had to open the windows a few times to cool off with some of these scenes.

So obviously this book has smut, and a lot of it. (Glorious, yummy, spicy scenes). But if you're not into that, this might be a book you want to skip.

If you are though? Woo boy its great! They were delicious, handled with care and I thoroughly enjoyed them.

More than the smexing though, the two main characters (Rhazan and Jade) obviously grow to love each other. They go from being inconveniences to developing a genuine, believable relationship. They were realistic (despite that one was a demon) with faults, pleasures and unique interests and passions.

And like a Lobster Roll, they had layers!

And really, who hasn't gotten in trouble for astral projecting during a poker game?

The secondary characters are fun as well, especially Nai Nai, who I'm pretty sure is the epitome of grandmothers everywhere. Although not as developed as our two leads, they didn't suffer from sidekick syndrome and had their own unique stories to follow as well.

And Jade interacted with people beyond her family and Rhazan!

Also there are giant cockroaches.

This is a pretty fawning review but it was just the book I needed right now to make it through the freezing Holiday season. And I love books that are loosely based in the world I live in. Don't get me wrong, fantasy is awesome but sometimes I just want to see my characters order a coffee to go, you know?

All in all, highly recommend this book. Especially if you like your MMCs almost too hot to handle.

Thank you Ember Holt for sending me this advance review copy for free. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was a fantastic, very spicy book!

I loved this so much, and the chemistry between Jaihui and Rhazhan was so intense. I adore Rhazdaddy so much. He is the sweetest warm gooey cinnamon roll ever, and Jaihui is the spunky tough, "gotta do it by myself" one in the relationship. Their strengths and weaknesses compliment each other well.

I loved all the additional worldbuilding we got in this book, and the magical police was an interesting bonus that I hope we will see again in future books. There were some fun twists and turns that I wasn't expecting! The magic system was also really neat, and I love the shared power, and astral aspects. It was done really well.

The pacing was solid overall, except it did go crazy quick towards the end. I would have loved a little more time to understand what was going on and less getting whooshed around every 2 seconds. It was still really good, and I enjoyed every bit of it! That is honestly my only complaint for the entire book, and didn't affect my enjoyment at all.

The spice is literally smoking hot, and will keep you on the edge of your seat. Rhazdaddy knows how to add the perfect amount of tension to make those sweet releases be intense enough to shatter your mind. So dang good!

You can totally read this without having read book one, but it will be so much better if you do.

Overall this was a fantastic read, and I can't wait to see what the next book brings us!

I went into this book completely blind, having not read the first in the series, and I honestly had no idea what kind of chaos I was walking into. What I found was an unexpectedly fun, charming, and easy-to-love read.

Jiahui is such a refreshing main character. She feels natural, witty, and genuinely well written, and I loved how clearly her family dynamics were portrayed. You can really feel the relationships around her rather than just being told they exist, which adds so much warmth and depth to the story.

One of my favourite parts of this book was the world-building. The magic system feels unique to other recent reads and well thought-out, and I loved the “Men in Black but for magical creatures” vibe. There’s a whole organisation dedicated to registering magical beings and keeping them in check, which gives the story a really fun, slightly mischievous atmosphere.

Rhazan is a fantastic match for Jiahui. Their dynamic is playful, tender, and develops in a way that feels organic rather than rushed. Watching their relationship unfold was genuinely one of the highlights for me. Spicy scenes were a plus!

It’s very obvious that Ember Holt had a great time writing these characters. That joy shines through the pages and makes the whole story feel lively, cozy, and just plain fun to read. I finished this feeling entertained, smiling, and genuinely curious to go back and read the first book in the series.

A really enjoyable, comforting paranormal romance that I’d happily recommend.

I received ARC and this is my honest review.

Oh, No! There's an Ifrit in my Cosmic Cafe is book 2 in the Getting Cozy with Demons series, but can be read as a standalone.

Jiahui is in trouble. The mob boss who owns her parent's debt wants her to help pay off the debt by using her astral projection powers for whatever nefarious things he wants. When his illegal gambling den is raided, Jiahui, her younger brother and grandmother need to hide out in a safe place before the trial that she will have to testify at.

Luckily for them, her grandma won a contest and is now the proud owner of a space themed coffee shop in a quaint town that is far enough away to (hopefully) be safe. What Jiahui didn't expect was there to be an interdimensional bar sharing the same space as the cafe, just on a different plane. And that bar is run by Rhazan, an absolutely smouldering demon.

Rhazan and Jiahui have instant chemistry, but between giant, angry interdimensional cockroaches, angry monsters and law enforcement entanglements of the magical and mundane varieties, they have a lot to deal with before they can get their HEA. But in the meantime, they're getting nice and freaky. 😉

I loved Jiahui's snark and problem solving skills. And her grandma? A gem. And Rhazan seems like a grump at first, but it's just a defense mechanism. Underneath he's a big softie. And fans of book 1, never fear, there's an appearance or two of Apollo, Sylvie and Charlie. 🩷

Thank you, Ember Holt for the opportunity to advance read!

Rhazdaddy set my heart—and my (ahem) lady bits—on fire. This book is pure magic.

⭐ 5 Stars ⭐
Oh No! There’s an Ifrit in My Café by Ember Holt absolutely blew me away! I couldn’t put it down. Ember’s writing is so genuine—it has that dreamy fantasy feel, but somehow feels so real you could imagine this happening in your own small town café.
Main Characters:

Jade – Our chaotic, witty heroine who astral projected to cheat at poker (iconic!) and ended up in witness protection.
Rhaz (aka Rhazdaddy) – The brooding, smoldering Ifrit who runs the interdimensional bar behind the walk-in freezer. He’s all fire, fury, and protective energy, and I loved every second of his grumpy charm.

Tropes that made me obsessed:

Grumpy/Sunshine (Rhaz’s smoke-and-glare vs Jade’s chaotic optimism)
Forced proximity (sharing a cursed café and a bar? Yes, please!)
Found family (Jade’s family and the café crew gave me all the cozy vibes)
Protective love interest (when the mob mage comes for Jade, Rhaz steps up in the most swoon-worthy way)

What I loved most:

The banter between Jade and Rhaz—equal parts hilarious and sizzling.
The world-building: cursed sugar jars, haunted espresso machine, and that thin veil between realms? Chef’s kiss.
The slow-burn tension that had me screaming internally.
The nods to the first book in the series (Getting Cosy with Demons)—such a treat for longtime fans!

I’ve read everything Ember Holt has written, and this book just proves why I’ll keep coming back. If you love fantasy that feels real, characters with depth, and a romance that burns hotter than an Ifrit’s flames, this is your next read.

Walking into Oh No There’s an Ifrit in My Cosmic Café feels like stumbling upon a hidden, star-lit sanctuary—one where the coffee is strong, the magic is temperamental, and nothing is ever quite as simple as it seems. Ember Holt crafts a cozy yet mischievous story that balances humor, heart, and just the right touch of heat.

The cosmic café itself is pure comfort-fantasy bliss, but it’s the little details that elevate the story—especially the tattoo, which adds an intriguing layer of mystery and intimacy. It’s not just decorative; it feels symbolic, charged with meaning, and quietly seductive in a way that deepens the connection between characters without overwhelming the cozy tone.

And then there’s the spice. Subtle, well-timed, and woven naturally into the story, it simmers rather than explodes—perfectly complementing the playful chaos of an unruly ifrit and the slow-burn tension that lingers between shared glances, lingering touches, and magical mishaps. The romance never overshadows the story, but it absolutely enhances it, adding warmth where you least expect it.

This book is ideal for readers who love cozy fantasy with a flirtatious edge—stories that feel comforting yet exciting, sweet yet a little dangerous. Oh No There’s an Ifrit in My Cosmic Café is a delightful reminder that magic can be messy, attraction can be unexpected, and sometimes the most powerful spells are the ones etched beneath the skin—or brewed behind a café counter.

I received an ARC copy of this book, and this is my honest review. Ok, I’ve been sitting on this review for days because I’ve been sick and I wanted to do it justice, because Ember Holt deserves it!

Oh No! There’s an Ifrit in my Cosmic Cafe has literally made me laugh out loud and get teary. Jiahui is such a classic eldest sister character who takes on too much responsibility and deserves to have someone take care of her. And in comes RhazDaddy, who is bossy, protective and just loves how feisty she is. The tension and banter between these two is phenomenal.

If I’m being honest, the plot is kinda wild, and the extra action isn’t for me (I love a good cozy space paranormal romance)
but it had me hooked and it made sense for Jiahui to be in the thick of a fight. She’s not a character who’s going to sit on the sidelines. She’s got an abundance of fighting spirit and she uses it primarily to look after her family, including her hilarious grandmother, Nai Nai and teenage brother, Ace. So of course she’s going to get into the thick of it!

The Getting Cozy With Demons series has worked its way into my heart. Ember Holt creates incredible characters with such depth and this unique world will leave you wanting the next book, just to see what else can happen. If you want something fun, spicy and unique, then this is 100% the series for you.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5
🌶️🌶️🌶️.5

This book was a super fun read! Oh no! There’s an Ifrit in my Cosmic Cafe!, is a monster romance book set in Ember Holts Getting Cozy with Demons Universe! A set of interconnected, stand alone books each following a different couple filled with cozy vibes!
This one follows Jiahui (Jade) who got busted using her astral projection magic to cheat at poker and ends up having to go into witness protection, uplifting her and her family (Brother and Nai Nai/Grandmother) across towns and into a small cafe! That oops! Holds an inter-dimensional demon! Jiahui must now navigate her growing feelings for Rhazan while struggling to balance her family duties!

Despite some heavy tones the banter and lightheartedness, and action really balances it out, and Jiahui is a total badass! Not to mention that there’s actual lore! Of course the smut is smoking, with some kinky spanking and light bondage and wax play that has you panting just as much as you’ll be giggling and laughing! Rhazan our MMC is a totally hottie but an absolute cinnamon roll which seems to be my new favourite type!

Thank you Ember for the ARC! I’m really looking forward to reading the first book and the rest of the series!

There was a lot I liked about this and at the same time a lot that didn’t connect for me.

As a reader I need to connect with the characters and their connection needs to feel genuine… our leads are fated mates, so I can understand that there would be an undeniable attraction between them but I needed to feel it, and I didn’t…

I loved the story of her magic, her grandmother, and even the locals they meet and befriend - I really felt myself becoming engrossed and connected to the story when I reached the 70% mark… the last 30% of the book was so exciting, all of sudden there was so much happening, so many discoveries being made… this is what I needed to happen earlier on…

I genre jump a lot and am still figuring out where I enjoy reading the most, I went in expecting it to be a cosmic adventure with a romantic sub plot and it felt more like a contemporary romance with aspects of the paranormal and cosmic variety.

Even though I didn’t completely connect with the main characters romance in this story, I still enjoyed the actual writing, world building, magic and characters so will definitely be going back to read the first one 😊

first off, huge thanks to ember for the ARC!! i am so grateful and so happy to immerse myself and get cozy with the demons again 🫶🏻

but shut upppp i LOVED this book. devoured it. when i wasn’t reading it i was thinking about it. when i was reading it i was wishing it wouldn’t have to end. now that it’s done i already miss it.

every single one of these characters were written with so much intention and felt so well fleshed out, i could so easily visualize them in my mind. rhaz is the epitome of “is a cinnamon roll, could kill you.” and jiahui is so strong and brave and BADASS.

i actually love the differences between incubus and ifrit. while i loved how cozy apollo’s story was, i was so invested in the action this book. it just made sense. and i was so excited to see sylvia and apollo and charlie! and i loved how this was way more of a fast burn, but that wouldn’t have worked as well for incubus! i think the pacing, the action, everything in this book was perfectly done.

and the spice was spicyyyyy they were so much fun. so much banter and laughing and it was wonderful.

again, i loved this book, i love their love, i love these silly demons and their mates. 10/10 forever
