This book was a motivational one and had good intentions but I find that it tries to oversimplifies things. Yes it is always good to have a list of what you want to do, what you want to achieve and your goals in life, but it does not keep in mind many other factors that dreams differ in their scope or multitude or that circumstances play a big role in deciding what a dream is! For example a guy living in America might have something on his list like getting a promotion in his job while another guy in Yemen all he needs is to have something available on table to eat for the day! So in the later's case how is this list going to help? I don't know. Another factor that the author did not discuss about is the personality of the person. Some people are introverts and others are extroverts and I think the list or its items would definitely be affected by that.

The book is decent but it is too oversimplified specially for a complex and full of troubles world that we live in.

I am a compulsive list maker, I have them for everything and love them so much, because it is true, a good focused intention (whether a To Do task or a project broken down into tasks or a far fetched dream) really does get done or evolves into something else when it is written down.

I have read many self-help books, my favorite one on how to create and list the goals is Stop Living Your Job, Start Living Your Life: 85 Simple Strategies to Achieve Work/Life Balance (it's original title was Get A Life!, I think it is more suitable) and the year I made those goals as suggested - I fulfilled every single one of them...
Then I tried living without any lists goals and focus last year (go with the flow thing) and my year was a mess as a result...

Anyway, back to this book. It was free and I downloaded it and I was glad to read this enthusiastic guy. I think cynical people will give him a hard time (but he just says ignore them and get on with it), but if approached with an open mind, this book has things to offer. Make your dream public, let people help you (this is the single most important thing to learn in life - nobody has ever done it alone), if we are honest, most of us will have to admit to that! I always try to remember that and to be grateful to those who have helped me throughout my life. This author listed pretty much everyone who has ever helped him to do anything and has given due credit in his book. He encourages us to ask for advice and to get people to brainstorm. This is also advice in one of my other favorite books by Barbara Sher called Wishcraft (sorry, couldn't find it to link) where she suggests organizing a party and inviting all your friends to help you brainstorm. Abramovitz is using the 21st century tools and says, just ask a question on Facebook, etc. Don't keep your dreams private (not even problems, he publicly posted it when someone conned him for quarter of a million and asked for advice - many would be embarrassed to do that) And of course, making lists helps you also realize things you don't want. Lists need to be continually updated. I found this to be true.
(The book could do with some better editing and organizing within, but it is still a worthy read)

This book is nothing short of life-Changing!!!

I read a lot of motivational and self-help books, but rarely do I read one that feels like it is looking to me in the eye and is as much entertaining as it is inspiring!

I think the main difference between this book and other books of its kind, is that this book is very practical. This is why it's suitable for everyone, even people who don't usually like this genre.
This is not another one of those spiritual books which explain how you need to smile at the world so that the world will smile back at you.
This book will give you all the practical tools you need to really make your dream a reality!

With dozens of success stories of real people from around the world, this book will make you start acting for yourself. It will teach you how to write a focused and efficient list, and to shout out your dreams so you will be able to realize them.
And you know what? It's already working for me! I'm on my way to realization of not only one, but 3 of my dreams!

Do you have a dream? (Obviously you do. Everyone does) Do not think twice! Buy this book and start living your dreams! The List: Shout Out Your DreamsYuval Abramovitz

I recently read a very interesting e-book entitled The List: Shout Out Your Dreams by Yuval Abramovitz. The premise of the book is intriguing; the author believes that by creating lists, and writing down your goals and dreams, you can do amazing things to achieve those objectives.

The author’s story is very inspiring. Abramovitz began his creative life in very difficult circumstances, in a wheelchair as a teenager, with little hope for living what one would consider a productive life. Depressed and despondent, the author decided to make a life-changing decision: to write down a list of things that he wanted to achieve, no matter how crazy the notion. From this simple decision began a cascade of events which led to many successes and achievements. Not only did this young man manage to overcome his physical disability (no longer in a wheelchair!) but he has become a successful writer, entrepreneur, actor and media personality. From very humble beginnings, came great success.

Many of the questions that the author proposes are very intriguing and thought provoking. Why do we as adults very often stop dreaming? Why do adults tend to stop setting “big goals” for themselves after getting established in life with jobs, families etc. What are the reasons that adults are hesitant to vocalize their deepest wishes, desires and goals? How can articulating these goals help us to achieve all the things that we have dreamed about?

This book was extremely interesting. Even though I don’t generally read books in this genre, I was genuinely interested in what this author was proposing. It got me to thinking about many things, including the goals that I have set for myself, and why I am tentative about talking about them.

To really get the most of this book, you should really immerse yourself in it by doing the exercises that the author suggests. Even if this means you simply scribble down a few thoughts on a scrap of paper, it is the seed for potentially great changes in your own life. As for me, I am still digesting many of the ideas that Abramovitz has posited, and I hope that I will be able to implement the suggestions that he makes in this book.

This is an easy and very thought provoking read. For any adult who is looking to challenge themselves, and start taking on new goals, this book is a great place to start.

The book was pretty interesting and led me to add some ideas to my lifetime list. But there were quite a few jarring errors in grammar and I found it visually chaotic.

I really love these kinds of books, and this one is no exception. I'm a huge fan of journaling and I've read similar books where thoughts become things and helping yourself realize your goals, and it really works. I love the combination of list making and tips on how to realize how to make your goals reality. The List has very concrete and accessible tools to help make this happen. The author encourages his readers to share there dreams and offers guidelines to help make some of them reality. It doesn't feel like a self help book, but more like a guide. Just like guided meditation and therapy, it encourages you to be your best self and live in the moment as well as set goals for a happier future.

A reminder to do it now

I like a self help book that keeps it simple and gives you directions. I added this book to my library list (lol) by accident and it was a happy little accident indeed.

Fijne man ook.

This is a good read for anyone with goals and dreams that they have yet to accomplish. It is the beginning of a new year, and many of us are making resolutions and goals for 2015. Forty-five percent of Americans make New Year’s resolutions, while only eight percent successfully achieve them. If you’re like me, you have a list of goals that sit there, often with many items not being accomplished or maybe even pushed out of mind. “The List: Shout Out Your Dreams (Motivation & Inspiration for Success and Happy Life” by Yuval Abramovitz helps to teach and motivate you to get your goals accomplished.

Through a tragic accident that paralyzed him, the author wound up bed bound at the age of 16. He was confined to a wheelchair, and everyone believed he would be like that forever. His life’s dreams could have disappeared down the drain, while he relegated himself to a life of being crippled. Instead, he used this experience to fuel his fire to achieve his goals. He wrote his life’s dreams in a list. Rather than pity himself, fearing that he would never reach those goals due to his legs being paralyzed, he transferred the yearning to achieve his goals into positive energy. Through writing “The List,” he hopes to help the reader to experience the same phenomena, without the reader having to go through a personal tragedy, as he had.

Many of us make lists, but then something happens. The goals sit there and wilt away, never getting accomplished. Fear, laziness and procrastination stand in the way. These are addressed in the book to help the reader figure out what could be holding them back. Organization and focus are also important.

In “The List,” Abramovitz shows you the right language to use to break your goals into actionable parts. Among of the most helpful tools are the included exercises to help get you going. The book is easy to read and enjoyable to due to authors use of humor and stories to illustrate his points. The making of a list is merely the beginning: follow-through and action is essential.

I read the book at just the right time. The end of 2014 left me facing a personal health obstruction over my life. 2015 did not start in a way that I would have liked, and I am putting the pieces of my life back together by applying these practical principles and using Abramovitz’s inspiration.

This book was very inspirational. The guide helps motivate you to want to act on your dreams or desires.

Normally, I wouldn't like a book that wasn't fictional, romance, or mystery. I really did enjoy this book though. It was fast-paced, which kept me from getting bored or tired of the book. There was also humor mixed in with from the author about what he's experienced, gone through, or how he feels relating to the guide. It kept me amused and wanting to read until the end.

What inspired me the most was hearing his story at the beginning. To hear about his accident as a teenage boy and how he lost his ability to walk from falling on the ice. Something he had warned his boss about.

In that time, the author had choices to make. He could let his situation defeat him and lose apart of himself or he could try to rise above it. He chose the later. The author had created a list of dreams and goals he wanted to achieve one day.

His teachers and peers looked at him with pity thinking he'd never be able to achieve some of those goals.

The author worked heard to try to teach himself how to walk again with the help of physical therapy. It took a long time to recover. He believed that he was able to walk again thanks to his list of dreams. He had something to fight fore, something to work towards.

In all honesty, I don't know if I could have been as strong as him through a time like that. I'm not sure I could have been able to learn to walk again like he did, but then again, you never truly know how you'd react until you get put in that position.

Have you ever had something happen in your life, that was so terrible, it made everyone wonder how you managed to make it from one day to the next, simply because it was something that would make most people give up hope?

That is exactly what happened to Yuval Abramovitz, and it is the reasoning behind his book, The List: Shout out your dreams.

At 16 years old, he has a horrific accident at work, that leaves him paralyzed. Now, instead of planning for all the things that most kids his age were planning for, he was stuck either in his bed, or in wheelchair.

The doctors didn't know why he was paralyzed, or if he would ever regain use of his legs, but there he was, wheelchair bound at 16.

During this time, he started writing down all the things he wanted to do with his life, he broke the list down into age groups, and every time he thought of something new, he added it to the appropriate category. His list was a lifetime bucket list of sorts...everyone that read it thought he was crazy, but he credits this list to helping him have the drive and motivation to work on regaining the use of his legs; which he does after a grueling year and a half.

This book is a motivational, and inspirational book, that pushes us to explore our dreams, and go after them. What are your dreams, what goals do you have, and what is stopping you from accomplishing them?

I strongly suggest this book to anyone looking to open up their minds to the possibility of actually living your dreams

Being nearly Thanksgiving, it is probably apprpropriate to write about turkeys. Exhibit A is "The List" by an Israeli self-promoter Yuval Abramovitz. This is a very small turkey, however, surrounded by a lot of stuffing and a few trimmings to pad the book. The author is a jack of all trades and is determined to make as great a name for himself as he can through various media. He checked off the "writing the book box" by taking one thought that he says he is the secret to success: make lists of everything you want to do. As a career coach, I am all for setting goals and measuring them, but it would be hard to fill a chapter on the topic, much less a book. He advocates making a list of 100 goals and then accomplishing them one at a time in small increments. There you have it.

He is a very engaging fellow, though, and has done his best to make the book interesting with self-serving stories sprinkled with some difficulties he has overcome as well as some interesting graphics. He sees to specialize in collecting followers and has been successful in that endeavor, relying mainly on chutzpah and gall that many of us would be loathe to emulate. I think I paid $.99 on Kindle to read this, which was definitely too much. There are much better ways you can spend your time and money.

While the enthusiasm radiates off the pages, the result is a scattered book by a guy slightly off center and out of touch with reality for many. Beyond the fact that his expertise demonstrates what worked for him, he is a public figure with clout that many people around the world don't have. While continually denying this fact gives him an advantage, he fails to see beyond his own bubble that the lived realities for many people won't mirror his, hence him being a bit out of touch. When addressing this again in his book, he suggests an "emergency list" to help people through hardships, most of which are enforced by structural, systematic disadvantages--things like abject poverty, race disparities--can't be listed away on an emergency list. I found myself agreeing most with his detractors, and found the information in this book similar to pre-established and more researched, global and proven information, as well as other works like Zig Ziglar's (curated by Seth Godin) "Pick 4" goal system or "The Secret." Hardly new information, delivered in a scatter-brain way from someone with a blinding amount of enthusiasm, save your time on this one.

I was originally drawn to this book by the title. You see I'm a big list-maker. I love writing a daily to-do list with my favorite purple EnergGel pen by Pentel and love the instant gratification of checking things off my list. I know its a little silly and mundane but I love it. haha

Sometimes its the simple things in life that give you the greatest pleasures, but I digress. After I started getting into it, I really enjoyed hearing about his journey and all the lessons he learned along the way.

It started to hit home the importance of not only setting goals but accomplishing them. Since reading his book I have not only gotten back into writing daily to-dos but also quarterly and annual goals. So, I guess you could say I have several lists. I have them pinned to my bulletin board so that I will see them every time I go into my office. They are a constant reminders of the things I aim to accomplish.

This E book is an undeniable dose of inspiration to get you excited about the new year and about your life! The author Uval Abramovitz has gone through his share of challenges. He not only survived but thrived by shouting out his dreams. His perspective will change the way you think about achieving your own dreams!

The author’s story and all the goals he has been able to achieve is amazing in itself. But I particularly love the way he presents ideas and the logic behind his methods. Anyone can relate to the information in this book because it is real life goal setting advice. Things you can apply and put in motion right away. There’s no time like the present! DNF: 52% complete

I liked this in the beginning but I can't see how it needs 300 pages to tell me to shout my dreams to the world and consistently write lists.

Other than to tell me about all the famous people he's met because of his career and lists.

I get it, don't let fear get in the way of living your dreams, ask for help, shout your dreams to the world.

This pretty much sums up the entire book (or, at least, the 52% that I read).

I liked that the author shares his personal stories and gives suggestions on how to shout out your dreams and ask for help from others because you never know what response you are going to get. Enjoyed the quotes from others and that it does encourage you to open up yourself to really thinking about what you want in life. Includes areas in book where you can write your responses if you desire. I won this book in a goodreads giveaway thank you!

Inspirational, should be read by everyone! I gave it 4 stars because the actual translation is not very good and some parts were unclear although they were supposed to be very simple. But definitely should be on everyone's to-read "list" (I already bought 2 as gifts for friends). More practical than other self-help books! And it works!

3.5 stars. The List gives a good explanation of why it's important to write our dreams and goals down on paper, and then have the courage to share them with others. There are plenty of prompts to encourage dreaming and writing. One of my favorite parts of the book is the author's personal story of tragedy and triumph. The List did get me to start writing, so that says a lot.
