Wren Sullivan’s quiet life ended the moment a pixie with midnight wings and murder in her eyes crashed through her office window.

Raven is a hunter. She tracks the creatures that prey on humans and erases witnesses without hesitation. She is death wrapped in leather and starlight, silver fire burning at her fingertips. When a memory spell meant to wipe one mortal clean shatters instead, the solution should be simple.

Eliminate the human.

But Wren isn’t a mistake to be erased. She’s an impossibility Raven was never taught to handle. Magic doesn’t fail. Memory spells don’t break. And humans don’t make a pixie’s heart race with a single touch.

Yet Wren remembers everything.

In the neon-lit shadows of Los Angeles, fairy courts hunt in secret and ancient greed stirs. Raven should walk away before her people discover the truth… that she’s protecting the very human she was should destroy.

Some bonds are written in blood and starfire. Some desires rewrite the laws of magic itself.

And when the city ignites, Raven and Wren will be forced to loyalty to their worlds… or a forbidden hunger powerful enough to burn them both alive.

It was ok. The plot was interesting, who doesn’t love fated mates? The dialogue was a bit repetitive and the world building a little lax.

I'm starting this review in case I don't finish the book, so I can remember what I liked and what I didn't.

I downloaded a sample to my kindle, and loved it. Unfortunately, after downloading the entire book it feels incredibly RUSHED. Less effort to flesh out the characters and the story, and just hurtling to slam the characters into action. Going to continue and see what I think...unless it keeps going speedway fast into "we've known each other 2 days and we're going undercover" blah blah blah.

Edit: Nope, didn't finish. The "forced proximity" trope just didn't work for me because there really wasn't any urgency - sure it was beat the clock before the bad guys did the bad thing but...it wasn't explained that it was so important that we must throw ourselves together right NOW. As well, there were leaps in there that would have made a sane woman run - example being Raven telling Wren by text that she "knew" what Wren's feelings were - really? How'd ya know that in 2 days? That her anxiety would prevent her from reaching out to you? In two days? nope.

Great premise, but the stage wasn't set well enough for me. Build the world a little, slow things down a hair, and I could have been hooked.

Loving the story that unfolded. One tough pixie and a human that found her strength with love that bound them both and gave them courage and strength to save a secret and lives of many.

The journey, adventure and bonds of friendship carry this new found family on a quest to save human freedoms and magical secrets.

A mundane life, changed through a love worth fighting for, in a world that still resists different bonds of love. The prejudice and lack of understanding of those who rule, these two and their love will gain your empathy through the lens of what is not tolerated in any society. Daring to love differently and who your heart chooses.

And explosive adventure from the beginning until the last page. Absolutely worth the read. Waiting eagerly for book 2.
