I’m here to play hockey, get drafted, and maybe break a few campus records while I’m at it. My plan is simple, keep my head down, my skates sharp, and my name on the scouts’ radar.

Babysitting a legacy was not part of the plan.

Eli shows up to rush Kappa Omega Kappa looking like he got lost on the way to chess club. He’s quiet, awkward, and clearly has no clue what he’s doing in a house full of loud, alpha-type frat bros. But on day one, his quiet confidence somehow gets under my skin.

Then he goes and builds this crazy program that helps fine-tune my slap shot, and I realize there’s way more to him than shy smiles and nervous energy. He’s brilliant, thoughtful, and kind of a menace in the best way.

I was supposed to keep an eye on him. Instead, I can’t stop looking.

And suddenly, the biggest thing on the line this season... might be my heart.

Join me and Willow Thomas, Becca Steele, Jodi Oliver, EM Denning, Becca Seymour, EM Lindsey, and Cora Rose for Love the Game, an exciting sports romance shared world series kicking off August 22nd!

Set around a group chat of athletes from the world of soccer, football, ice hockey, and rugby, this series is full of hot guys and all the tropes you love!

Each book can be read as a standalone, but there will be cameos that you might enjoy reading in order.

I really liked this story and I thought that Cosmo and Eli were really good together, but there were quite a few things that bothered me enough to pull me out of the story far too frequently, and there were also a lot of loose ends.

- There were more continuity issues than I could happily ignore.
- Character names change or are spelled completely differently Eli/Elli, Morely/Mores, Luka/Luca.
- Eli meets Ferris/Reddy twice and neither has any recollection of meeting previously, they might even have been in the same frat but I can't remember!
- The passing of time isn't portrayed very clearly. In one instance, they're at a party at the frat house but then in the next paragraph it's a completely different day. On another occasion they're in the kitchen one sentence and then the next they're taking skate guards off to get on the ice... It was confusing and hard to follow at times.
- What was Eli's professor's issue with him being in the frat? It was never fully explained so it didn't make much sense including it.
- What happened to the pledge bully Toby/Tony? Surely he didn't make it into the frat after his bad behaviour but we never find out what happened to him.
- There was a random teammate of Cosmo's who made a snide remark about Eli which came out of nowhere, but it seemed like we were supposed to know some of his team had an issue with Eli?
- There were a lot of spelling issues that were really obviously wrong, which surprised me because I don't think I've seen that in Becca's books before?

I think this needed another set of eyes before it was published.

Cosmo & Eli

I adored this jock/nerd combo; both MCs were great! I was especially charmed by Cosmo, expecting his jock persona to be much more arrogant and perhaps to deny his pull to Eli, but he was so sincere! It was lovely to meet Cosmo after his introduction in Totally Played, and to get some cameos from Calvin, Ash and the fam. I also loved Eli, and thought his journey through the rush/frat process, as an unlikely pledge, was enjoyable. With such an authentically sweet connection between the MCs, I was thankful for the lack of a 3rd act breakup, and preferred all the “drama” to come from the plot line instead. The steam was also top tier!

Looking forward to reading more in this series! I’m excited that the “Love the Game” group chat is what will tie it all together. Some of these other characters/stories seem terrific.

This is a friends to more hockey sports college romance, featuring Eli and Cosmo, and is book five in the Love The Game multi author series.

Cosmo’s only goal is to play hockey and get drafted, not babysit a shy frat legacy. But Eli’s quiet charm and unexpected brilliance soon have Cosmo falling for him instead.

This one was such a fun, sweet read. Cosmo and Eli’s connection builds slowly but beautifully, full of teasing, late-night talks, and unexpected chemistry that sneaks up on both of them. I loved how Eli’s confidence grows alongside Cosmo’s softening edges, it’s tender, funny, and full of heart. Perfect low angst college story.

Things to expect in this book are:
Book 5
Multi author series
MM sports romance
College students
Nerd x Jock
Physics major x Hockey player
Pledge x Frat bro
Forced proximity
MC with glasses & dimples
Dates & holding hands
Spicy times
Marking
Both fall hard
Sweet HEA

Eli is in his first year of college. He's a nerd, a physics major. He's a legacy trying to get into the Frat that his brother used to be in. Because he thinks it will be helpful for him to develop relationships. Cosmo is in his second year of college, he's a hockey star and is sure to be drafted in the NHL. He's part of the Frat, and his older brother is friends with Eli's older brother, so Eli's brother asks Cosmo to look out for Eli. That's the impetuous for them to spend a bit of time together. But as soon as Cosmo sees Eli smiling, with his adorable dimples, he is smitten. Cosmo was a Playboy last year and didn't take things seriously and hurt his reputation in hockey a bit because of it, he was always a Dynamo on the ice but they thought he was fickle and unreliable. So he's trying to be better this year. They start hooking up, and then dating, and Eli helps Cosmo with the physics of motion improving his hockey game and helps him a little bit with school as well. And Cosmo helps Eli get into the Frat and be less socially anxious.

This was a sweet book. I liked that they struggled with things that were realistic for their ages. And I liked how there were palpable heart eyes between them, they had a sweet love that developed between them. They were good for each other, they pulled the best out of each other.

One thing that absolutely distracted me from the book and almost made me bring the rating down a little bit more, was the f****** typos. I didn't count the ones that were in dialogue, and I didn't count the odd failures to use commas, but there were at least 11 other typos. It's really distracting to me when there are typos. They even f***** up Eli's name twice! At the beginning of the book, they said his last name was Morley (he was giving his brother's full name, John Morley), and then any other reference to his last name was Mores. And Eli's name was misspelled as Elli once (and it wasn't a nickname). Other random examples of typos... Ad instead of and. Hit instead of hid. Thee instead of three. Press instead of Pres (as in the president of the Frat). Desperately needed better editing.

Some notable moments:

"I may have thrown a few questions. You know, to win over some of the pledges. JOHN: Did it work? ME: I think so, the prank on the Pres did more, though. JOHN: You pranked the Pres? Who are you, and what have you done with my brother? I don’t have much money, but I could pay you at least a twenty for his safe return."

"“Who’s the fastest now, Flash?” he asks as I wriggle and writhe trying to get free. Then I hear a tearing sound, and he lets go and jumps to his feet. “Is it bad? Tell me it isn’t bad,” he asks, contorting his torso around to try to see the back of his pants while turning in a circle like a dog chasing its tail. ‘That depends.” I laugh. “How much of your ass do you want the big wigs at Boston to see?”"

I love how Cosmo collects Eli's origami creatures "I am super happy though that now that I don’t have to hide that I’m collecting all his bottle label origami creations, I can have them on full display. “Aww, they look good. Soon I’ll have enough for a full zoo,” I say, and he blushes slightly at the compliment."

*FYI about steam: I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink.

**Note about spoilers: I like to comment on the plot of a book in reviews, so I almost always mark my reviews as containing spoilers. But I try to avoid spoiling the big dramatic moments! As a reader, I personally like to know what I'm getting into before I read a book so I know more about the content and if it's to my taste/mood, so I try to give that information in my reviews for myself when I'm considering rereading and also for other readers.

This story was so cute! At first I thought Cosmo was going to be a jerk to Eli because of how he was asked to look after him. Instead, he took him under his wing and protected him.

Cosmo’s dream was to be drafted to the NHL but his behavior the previous year kind of ruined his chances. Determined to be better, he did everything possible to show that he could be the player scouts wanted.

Eli was a physics major who had no business being in a frat house. But his quiet, shy demeanor won over the frat boys.

While spending time with Cosmo during his practices, Eli comes up with a plan to help Cosmo be better with his speed in order to become an even better player.

Thanks to Eli’s suggestions, Cosmo manages to become a god on the ice, making him even faster than before helping him achieve his dream.

I loved their sweet interactions and how despite Eli being completely out of his depth with hockey and frat life, he still managed to fit in so well with the guys.

Cosmo was a lot sweeter than I expected a jock to be and that made me so happy. Their relationship was so drama and toxicity free that it was a joy to read.

I’m loving this joined universe with so many fantastic authors. Can’t wait to read the rest 🥰

200 pages of two white men who are
1. boring af
2. annoying af
3. throwing a self pity party i never rsvp-ed to
4. sucking and fucking and calling it being in love with each other

this book truly exemplified how little i gaf abt white men. theyre genuinely at the bottom roster of people id want to talk/listen to irl. i didnt want to say this was excruciating but i barely read the last 25% of this. two privileged white men try and pretend that theyre appealing in any sort of way. im never one to knock on a nothing plot but at least make ur characters interesting. everything and everyONE was so nothingburger and i genuinely did not like either of these boring fuckass white dudes!!!!!! they fuck so often but there is ZERO chemistry or anything and there is such little schmoop that isn't inherently sexual in nature and just YAWNNNNNN all around i didnt gaf at all and my sheer lack of interest is making me mad. but nothing abt this book pissed me off its JUST how much i could not give a fuck about anyone.

Arc Review

Cosmo Parks is playing the best hockey he can in order to make the NHL draft. He lives with his brothers in the frat house Kappa Omicron Kappa. His actual brother, Brent (Full Tilt) calls him for a favour. Could he look out for a new pledge to the frat, Eli.

Eli More is wanting to become part of the KOK frat house. He is a self proclaimed physics nerd and worries he won’t fit in.

Cosmo and Eli hit it off and become friends, which quickly leads to more. Cosmo falls fast for Eli and vice versa. With each other’s help they can make both of their dreams come true. Eli works his physics magic to watch Cosmo on the ice and point out where he can improve. Cosmo in return gives Eli the confidence to speak up and win his vote into the house.

I have read and loved every book in this ‘Love The Game’ series, and this is no exception.
This is my first book from Becca Jackson and I will be finding more of theirs to read. I loved the way you are pulled into the KOK frat house (excellent acronym). I am a sucker for a great nerd/jock romance and this ticked every box.

Here's Becca Jackson's "Puck Shots." It's a novel in the multi-author series, Love The Game.

["I’m here to play hockey, get drafted, and maybe break a few campus records while I’m at it. My plan is simple, keep my head down, my skates sharp, and my name on the scouts’ radar.

I've been wanting Cosmo's story for sooo long. He's a trip and a half in the group chat, but you can tell he has a pick heart. Of course he'd be destined for someone like Eli.

These two were adorable as hell! They were both smitten right off the start but a little shy to do anything about it. They became friends and got closer and closer until the spark between them was too bright and too strong to deny.

I've been reading a lot of borderline dark romances so this fluff and sweetness was a nice balm. I can't wait for next week for the next book in the series (x2 for the final book in two weeks).

Sweet story

I enjoy the tenderness and romance, and this was more of a slow burn story, which was nice.
I thought the characters were good, but I did think that they seemed very mature for 18-19 year olds, as well as being experienced which seemed unrealistic. I found sometimes that the voices of each character were a bit blurred and I had to go back and reread to make sure I knew who was speaking.
The intimate scenes weren’t as well written in this book as in others.
Some parts were not edited, I think? - e.g. “Ferris, also known as Reddy” was introduced twice, and there were several spelling mistakes.
Story wise, it was an enjoyable read though and I like that we get to hear about other characters through the whole series.
I’ll be reading the next one.

This is the year Cosmo believes he will be drafted in the NHL. He just has to keep improving his game and keep up with his grades. He is so close to making his dreams, he can taste it. But when he is asked to watch out for Eli, a legacy entering their frat, he never expects to fall so hard and fast. Eli is sweet, quiet, a little awkward, and a whole lot smart. Cosmo is impressed with him on day one and Eli surprises him at every turn. And when Eli develops a program to help him improve in hockey? Cosmo is a goner. Eli rushed the frat because his brother was a member. Telling Eli that he made friends with guys in that frat for life and he wants Eli to have the same chance. While nerves get the better of him most of the time, he wants to try. And he never expects meeting Cosmo will give him what he is looking for. That safe place and friendship. Let alone being the guy Eli can’t help but fall for. These two were absolutely adorable! I loved that Eli underneath his anxiety and nerves, had a spine of steel. He wasn’t afraid to stand up for himself and constantly kept surprising everyone. Especially Cosmo. They supported one another at every turn and it was so sweet to watch these two fall hard for one another. Their chemistry was fantastic! Been loving this series so far and this was definitely another great one!

I love a jock who roots for people and appreciates someone different from themselves. I especially love how this hockey player and science student find common ground in both their passions.

Eli is out of place in the KOK house, but with the help of Cosmo, he finds his footing in a mostly sporty frat.

These two have something special. Both embracing who each other is, often in small ways, and it is all kinds of wonderful. And the way they hype each other up to follow their dreams is pure goodness.

The story is a lot of fun too. Taking place largely during frat pledging season as well as in the hockey rink. There’s a lot of good-natured fun and ribbing, with plenty of amazing friends and family who make you smile.

This was a low angst sweet Jock/ Nerd romance.

This has been a great series.

Each book has been wonderful.

Eli and Cosmo were fantastic. I adored how great they were for each other.

Cosmo was amazing. He watched out for Eli but never in a negative or toxic way.

The whole opposites attract vibe really worked for these two.

This was a sweet swoony story.

Cosmo was sweet and tender with Eli.

It was great to see Eli get more comfortable with himself and his new environment as well.

“Eli deserves to be shown just how amazing he is. He deserves magic.”

They really supported eachother in this book.

I loved how the other supported Eli and his ideas.

A sweet, smart, and sizzling hockey romance that scores big!

Spice Rating: 🌶️🌶️🌶️
Tropes: College Romance • Sports Romance • Opposites Attract • Nerd/Jock

Cosmo “The Flash” lives for hockey—speed, focus, and the dream of going pro. The last thing he needs is a distraction, especially one that comes in the form of a shy, brainy legacy named Eli. But when Eli builds a program that changes Cosmo’s game, sparks start flying on and off the ice.

This story is a perfect blend of locker-room banter, emotional vulnerability, and chemistry that simmers from the first chapter. Becca Jackson nails the balance of heart and heat, making you root for Cosmo and Eli as they navigate friendship, ambition, and falling hard when they least expect it.

If you love your sports romances with genuine connection, clever writing, and a touch of nerdy charm—Puck Shots is the one to beat.

Cosmo and Eli's journey was a sweet one. This book felt really good. A straight up meeting and falling in love while going through college and the angst of what life brings. A very enjoyable no drama, low angst read.

Just a thought....

My one note on the previous book in the series was:
"Cosmo absolutely steals the show. 🤣🌈🤣🌈🤣🌈🤣🌈🤣🌈🤣
So glad his book is next!!!"

That Cosmo was nowhere to be seen. Don't get me wrong the Cosmo in this book was an absolutely great guy, perfect in all things. But he was not the witty outspoken dynamo we got in the previous book(s).

Puck Shots by Becca Jackson delivers a classic nerd x jock romance, but without any of the usual pitfalls—no bullying, no hiding, no shame. Just pure, feel-good connection. Strangers to Friends to Lovers.

Cosmo and Eli’s story is downright adorable. Their relationship is wholesome, warm, and so supportive that I found myself grinning through entire chapters. The way they show up for each other? Ugh. My heart. I simply cannot handle how precious they are.

If you’re looking for a sweet, low-to-no-angst read that leaves you cozy and happy, this one is an absolute win!

Cosmo & Eli

What begins as looking out for someone’s little brother becomes a quick friendship with wishing for more. Cosmo is chaos incarnate and Eli only wants to hide. The more time they spend together, it’s easy to rely on and support each other. Cosmo dreams of the NHL and Eli dreams of taking on science. These two are adorable and I love how Eli stands up for himself and speaks for what he wants.

Love this series. Got to meet Becca Jackson at RARE in Melbourne which made reading this all the more fun!
I wanted Cos' family to have an aha moment but it never happened so im hoping it does in a different book or something. He needs them to know... Eli is a fascinating dichotomy. Nervous and shy but also super confident in certain scenarios. Love him

Puck Shots is part of the multi-author Love of the Game series, each can be read as a standalone but I think reads better in order. This is a nerd/jock, friends to lovers, sweet read about Eli and Cosmo. I was so excited to see Cosmo get his HEA and with someone that really grounds him(as much as he can be). Another wonderful book in the series and by Becca Jackson.

Very sweet and well thought out love story between Cosmo and Eli, very much like the nerd/jock trope. The book did need another round of editing which obvs has not done properly, spelling, name inconsistencies and a lot of loose ends in the story itself as well as inconsistencies when eg a character was already introduced and then they meet again.

It needed an editor! So many mistakes and repetition! Like in the first few pages Cosmo was saying that his brother Brent is a tattoo artist and he wants brother tattoos! Then like a chapter or so later he said the exact same thing only worded a little differently. Or Reddy was introduced to Eli then a few chapters later he was introduced again in the exact same way. The ending was shit too!

Not the best writing but I did like Eli and Cosmo together. Felt like there was a lot missed or unexplained. It was faced paced but had its cute moments. I would rate it a 2 1/2 but upping to 3

SPOILER!!!!

We didn't get to read them admiting their love for each other, which is really one of the best part of romance books so that really hurt my rating
