Quick Summary: A health is wealth guide to postural alignment and life stability

My Review: Posture Power: How to Move Well, and Why It Matters by Eleanor Dalton is categorized as a "Health, Mind & Body | Sports" book. It is scheduled for release on 3/17/26.

About the Book: "Instagram's Posture Ellie shows you how listen to your body and pinpoint the source of pain before changing your alignment for an all-round healthier lifestyle."

In My Own Words: A guide to improving one's life by connecting with self, reading one's body, and adjusting one's mindset

What I Liked/Loved:

- I really liked the conversational tone used to communicate the presented content.

- I liked reading about the author's personal journey. It was easy to relate to where she started and where she ended, in terms of life choices and finding her place of wellness.

- I loved how value was placed on getting to a state of balance and reclaiming power.

- I loved the highlights, suggestions, summaries, and pointers. The author was very descriptive and detailed.

- I liked how the author included information on footwear, bed positioning, etc. It went beyond the obvious, and those are things that are important for people to consider when looking at posture and alignment.

- I really liked how the author addressed the body as a holistic form and/or as "a connected unit." I feel very strongly about this particular point, especially as it relates the medical practices of the 21st century.

My Final Say: I was attracted to this book because the subject matter is one that I have experience with from a professional standpoint. I was curious to see the author's take on posture & alignment and how they influence one's life. I wanted to see how she viewed matters of mobility - the good and the not so good aspects. I loved that she approached it from numerous angles. I was pleasantly surprised by how detailed she was.

While I really enjoyed reading this book and got a lot out of it, I do wish that it had included more visual depictions of what was presented. I think it would have added something more to the educational process.

I am excited to learn about Posture Ellie. As a result of reading this book, I have already visited the website, as well as subscribed to the YouTube channel. I look forward to learning more.

Other: Readers who like body work content, health and wellness resources, and guides that promote and encourage grounding in self should totally get this book.

This would be fantastic as an audiobook. The instructional component would translate well, in my opinion.

In the context of this book, posture isn't about standing straight -- it's about standing well. This is super important to understand today because modern living almost inevitably ends up in underused and overused joints and muscle groups which leads to chronic pain as our bodies try to compensate. Posture Power is all about identifying a person's problem areas and providing exercises that will gently fix the issue.

I decided to start with the Modified Groin Stretch, as that targets the hips and I know mine are a train wreck. After 15 minutes on each side, I got up and realized my neck pain was totally gone. Not only that, but my whole neck felt looser and more relaxed. I was pretty skeptical at first, but that's enough to convince me that Dalton is onto something here.

For the most part, the book is well written and logically laid out, with plenty of resources provided to get people started. Some of the exercise descriptions are pretty scanty, though. For example, Wall Frog clearly involves using a wall but the description doesn't explain which body part to put on the wall and how high to put it. Luckily Dalton has YouTube videos that show each exercise in action, so readers can go there to clear up their confusion.

Overall a very useful book for everyone who spends at least a few hours a day sitting or standing still (in other words, about 99% of the population).

Thanks to Netgalley for the advance copy in exchange for my honest feedback.

I received this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I found the book to be a helpful and practical read full of tips and tools, and it really made me think a lot about my body, movement, lifestyle and the impact of these on physical and mental health.

Although I’m familiar with some of the interventions and tools mentioned, I felt it was useful how detailed the author was and the examples and different scenarios we’ll likely face in our lives were provided and how we can approach them with these prompts and tips for a better outcome in our daily life and for the future, and it made me reflect a lot. It particularly made me think a lot more about the impact of a sedentary lifestyle on our health, our alignment and the link between all these things.

I could feel Ellie’s passion throughout the book and it was interesting to know her back story (no pun intended), and I will look at her YouTube and Instagram now for more inspo.

I also felt that I’d possibly benefit more from a physical copy when it’s released, as reading the Kindle version meant I couldn’t highlight pages and make notes to refer back to, and particularly in view of any physical drawings/examples of the exercises described though I felt there could’ve been more of these (& why this review isn’t a five).

Recommend!

Posture Power: How to Move Well, and Why It Matters by Eleanor Dalton is a practical, approachable 4-star guide to reclaiming better movement and pain-free living. Dalton challenges the outdated "sit up straight" advice and instead focuses on restoring full-body muscle function, joint mobility, and natural alignment.
The book excels at explaining how poor movement patterns—not just "posture"—lead to pain, fatigue, and inefficiency, using simple assessments, exercises, and habit tweaks anyone can apply, from desk workers to hikers. The advice feel authentic and sustainable, with emphasis on awareness over perfection.
While some sections repeat core ideas for reinforcement, the overall structure is clear and reference-friendly.
Posture Power empowers you to move with more ease and vitality, proving pain isn't an inevitable part of aging but a fixable imbalance. A valuable read for anyone tired of aches from modern life. I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
