Charles Soule is a #1 New York Times-bestselling novelist, comics author, screenwriter, musician, and lapsed attorney. He has written some of the most prominent stories of the last decade for Marvel, DC and Lucasfilm in addition to his own work, such as his comics Curse Words, Letter 44 and Undiscovered Country, and his original novels Light of the Jedi, The Endless Vessel, The Oracle Year and Anyone. He lives in New York.
I really loved Charles Soule’s take on Daredevil, and the conclusion is just as excellent. The start feels a little jarring, but once you realise that it’s Soule taking inspiration from Trump’s 2016 election, it just injects his legal drama with rocket fuel, making for both a deeply compelling story and a really impactful bit of commentary that unfortunately still sings today. These 3 volumes have basically solidified my love for Daredevil, and I can’t wait to read more.
I loved parts of this. The mayor arcs were phenomenal, perfect Daredevil storytelling. It's pretty obvious how this story mirrors our American reality, and it's particularly poignant right now. Muse had a great second run, and Blindspot got a good conclusion to his arc. I didn't really see the point in bringing Mike Murdock to life, and the whole last arc, was that just editorial BS? Can't say I cared for the landing. But again, the first half of this was such an absolute banger.
