Safe Zone One

Rate this book
A centuries-old feud between war-torn human factions might be too big a battle to overcome.

The Earth is all but an uninhabitable nuclear dust bowl. At least, that's what the Mars and Moon colonies thought until they intercepted a message from humanity's motherland. The Moon sends delegates to Earth with the noble intention of negotiating a peace deal, while trying to avoid the notice of the Mars colony.

Lily has never concerned herself with her mothers politics. Third in line for the throne in Earth’s only prosperous colony she has little to worry about. Her life is about freedom and adventure, not the stuffy confines of a palace.
Antony only knows life on the Moon – staunch, religious, conservative. His trip to Earth is mostly for show, as the son of the President of the Moon he has to keep up appearances. His understanding of what the world is like is shattered when he meets Lily at an illegal fighting ring, and then realizes she’s the daughter of the very queen they’ve been sent to treaty with.

Moon and Mars can no longer ignore each other when it’s made clear that Earth is not only livable, but thriving.

When negotiations between the Chancellor of Mars and the Moon's President turn sour, a vicious race is born to determine who will secure Earth's only stronghold. But Queen Magdalena has her own agenda, and no one will escape the lengths she'll go to secure her rule—not even her own children.

Safe Zone 1 is a high spice novel that includes MF and MMFF scenes

A unique sci-fi romance! I typically see either a space opera with romantic components or a spicy alien romance in a sci-fi setting. This book takes place after a nuclear war makes Earth uninhabitable, and the Moon and Mars colonies think they are the only humans left. However, when the Moon Colony re-istablishes communication with Safe Zone 1 on Earth, they attempt to establish trade and political support.

Partial Review
I'm about 50 pages in and loving it! The setup is crisp and makes me want to know more about how they survive in these harsh environments. I love Lily and Antony. They grew up in very different environments, but I think they are going to learn a lot from each other! It's going to be hard to put this one down!

You can expect: A Reluctant Princess who likes Cage Fighting, religious trauma, an Open Relationship, and a splash of Bi panic 😅

Fast read of 268 pages!

Final Thoughts After Finishing
Multi-POV that keeps you wanting more! I honestly couldn't put it down. Get ready for some spicy scenes! I appreciated how a lot of the thrust of the story (pun intended) came from the political maneuverings from the three groups. And the ending just kept me hanging! I dearly hope there is a second book on the way 😆 Safe Zone 2 anyone? Really interesting read and I would recommend to those who like high spice sprinkled around sci-fi political maneuverings and ideological discussions!

This hit the right balance of tropes and spice with a sci-fi world and political setup I cared about. With a Post-nuclear Earth, isolated Moon, Earth, and Mars colonies, form three human factions that have developed separately for two centuries. And every culture felt textured and messy and every group problematic.

The relationship dynamic was engaging. Lily’s sexual confidence and lead-taking, paired with Antony’s wide-eyed innocence, is a chef’s kiss. The bisexuality handled with humor and pleasure, and it’s such a delight to see that energy in this genre.

Trade, ideology, religion, culture shock, survival tensions, all give the story real momentum. The multi-POV structure keeps things moving and fast-paced.

It ends on a cliffhanger, so I’m hoping we get a sequel (and the promised Antony and Tommy scene)!

I really enjoyed the pacing! plotwise however it felt like the author threw every trope at the wall, and didnt actually expand on them much. if a sequel is written, i will 100% read it, but this felt more like a draft than a fully formed novel.
