This book blew my mind. Alina's writing style is top notch. I didn't know what to expect reading this book I actually didn't read anything about it beforehand. I'm so glad I didn't every step of the way I was so engrossed in what was going on that I also didn't know that I had basically read it in one sitting. Lyanndra & Syran are perfection in all that they are. The Godslayer takes us to a world of Demigods and Starless. The Starless (humans) of course being the lesser species in the eye of the Demigods and especially under the rule of the King. But the hatred runs deep and goes both ways with Starless despising the Demigods who rule.
Lyanndra, more commonly known as The Godslayer, for being the Knight to take down the ruthless Demigod King is a Starless who finds herself bound to Syran, the Demigod Kings son, by a cruel fate from the stars.
I honestly loved everything about their every interaction. They are complete opposites thrust into an impossible situation and following along with them was an adventure.
I'm immediately starting book 2 The Midnight Serpent and I can't wait!
Thank you Alina for the gifted copy!

This was a fun enemies to lovers romantasy that really took the worldbuilding seriously. I really enjoyed both main characters and found it refreshing that they both wielded power in their own rights.

There was just the right amount of spice and it worked really well within the story as a whole which I really appreciated and the last 100 pages absolutely flew by.

The perfect first book in this developing series!

What I enjoyed was that the book is fast paced. It got to the point and didn’t need 1700 chapters to get there.

What was missing for me, was some context. I hoped for more of a back story with both Lyanndra and Syran. Why did they get to where they are? We know they’ve had a trauma past, but no conversation as to what they went through. I wished for more of that.

It was an interesting take to have Ressa as the villain of the story and not something we see often is a female antaganist. I think her character was misunderstood, with her upbringing of being groomed to her role. I was hoping for more of a journey of self discovery for her. But alas, that might just be the “we love a strong female role” in me.

✨The Godslayer✨

Are you looking for a fast-paced, steamy, medieval fantasy romance where the FMC is a notorious bad mamajama and the MMC yearns so hard? Well, friends this is for you!

We follow a dual POV in Alina’s first installment of her Star Crossed Series. We begin with Lyanndra, aka the Godslayer, who is renown for being the only human knight to slay a demigod. But the thing is, everyone thinks she’s a man and she aims to keep it that way. At least until our MMC, Syran, decides to find his star crossed mate. And since he just so happens to be the son of the fallen god king Lyanndra felled, it would only be fates cruelest irony to be his missing half.

We undergo a tenuous enemies to reluctant allis to lovers relationship with betrayals and a rocky rise to the thrown within these action packed pages. Lyanndra is dead set on choosing madness over Syran, but even though Syran knows it’d be easier to return to his childhood betrothed, he is adamant the stars chose them for a reason- if not to finally bridge the gap between the Starless and the demigods. But friendships, bonds, and blood tend to be easily poisoned and Syran and Lyanndra can either bend to the fallen kingdom his father made or try to work together for a better future…

This was so fun and fast! I whizzed through these 300+ pages in a day, because the pacing just flowed. We get high heat, aggressive kisses, and a bit of a burn to spice. I absolutely loved how hopeful and all in Syran was and I appreciated how strong and steadfast Lyanndra remained. She was no damsel, but we also got to see some of her soft spots. I’m excited to know more of what made her who she is!

Tropes you may find in Godslayer are fated mates, she’s an epic hero, fire daddy prince who’s a secret cinnamon roll, magic, prophecies/meddling fates, plot twists, betrayal, fast paced, medium spice, wound tending, he falls first and way harder, enemies to lovers (mostly one way), and an ending that leads eagerly into book two.

The Godslayer is out now and I’m headed straight into the arc of book two! ✌️

Thank you, Alina, for the e-ARC! I appreciate you sending it to me since my library didn’t carry it. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I went into this book pretty blind. I joined Alina’s ARC team for book two, but needed to read The Godslayer first. I flew through this book in two days. This is romance-heavy, which made it a quick read! I was addicted to the romance and the star-crossed lovers. Lyanndra and Syran fight against it (mostly Lyanndra), and they can’t help it. They are on opposite sides of the war, and seeing them try to overcome that was great. It added so much tension. I’m a spoiler-free account, so I won’t give details, but believe me, the tension was high!!

I loved Lyanndra from the second I met her. She’s brave, blunt, strong, and will do anything for her people. Her decisions are not brash, and she thinks things through, which is awesome. One of my favorite things about this book is that they get to know each other. It’s hard not to see insta-love when your relationship is forced on you. They have plenty of time to get to know each other and develop mutual respect, which I appreciated.

The overall plot was where I struggled a little bit. There are things that happen, and it was a little too fast. Now, this book has set up for an epic second book, I think. What I thought was going to happen in this one might be what I get from the second book. The ending had me jumping into the second book immediately!

Overall, this was a fantastic start to the series! I loved the romance, and it was steamy! I loved Lyanndra, and I can’t wait to see more of her. I thought that her chemistry with Syran was spot on. I look forward to seeing what happens in the second book, especially with that ending!! I highly recommend this for all my Romantasy lovers!

Wow! This book had me in its grip from the Prologue. This author throws you in head first and you don’t want to come up for air until the last page.

This is a TRUE enemies to lovers Romantasy with a FANTASTIC slow burn.

“And for the first time, I truly and deeply understand what we are.
Our stars are crossed.
Our souls are bound.
We are one.”

The FMC, Lyanndra, is as strong a knight as any man among the Starless (humans) and her tongue may be as sharp and quick as her strongsword. Let’s not forget her hungry kelpie, Barra, who she rides on her monster slaying adventures.

“After all, good women aren’t supposed to don their father’s armor and ride away in the night to seek their fortunes. Good women don’t slay great beasts or joust against the finest of the Celestial Knights.

Good women don’t fight. Good women don’t kill.

But I am not a good woman.”

Our MMC, Syran is Prince to the Demigods. He possesses a unique magic and has a heart of gold. He’s is powerful in his own right and looking to keep peace between the Starless (humans) and the Demigods.

“When I finally look up, I’m shocked to see tears streaming down the Starless man’s face. “What king would bow to a peasant?” he murmurs.”

This fast-paced story has character depth, immersive world building, dual POV, unique magic, court politics, monster-slaying, battles, plot-twists and so much more.

This well written book is like Mulan grabbed some monsters out of Witcher and moved on to Gladiator. I don’t think you could ask for much more from this book!

Thank you Alina for the gifted readers copy to allow me to give my honest review. All opinions are my own.

so good

This was a great start to this series. I really enjoyed the world building and use of magic in the form of God bestowed gifts.

One of the notes I made when reading this was that if you need a job done get a woman to do it! lol Lyanndra is THEE GODSLAYER! Ok! lol

I love it when the FMC of a story kicks the crap out of the MMC! And Lyanndra… She did not come to play and it’s obvious she could destroy him! But alas they are meant to be together so she can’t beat him up too bad 😂

And Ressa…. Ugh. Yes she got the shorter end of the stick but instead of moving on she’s a nightmare.

And this cliffhanger… I need to run to book two now!

I was in a reading slump for a couple of weeks until I decided to pick this one up. To be honest, this was unexpectedly amazing!

The book was filled with female bad-ass representation, strength, courage, and love. The politics and the power struggles were descriptive and well-written. Its world building and the magic system were incredibly interesting and easy to follow. And, the storyline just drew me right in - started with a massive bang, and it did not end there. It just made me turn page after page, itching to know what's next.

All the characters were loveable even the annoying ones. 🤭 The main characters and their chemistry??? OHH LA LA!! ❤️‍🔥 The yearning??? 🤤 AHHHHHHHH!!! The two were a perfect example of a push-and-pull kind of situation, all sparks and fire, and I just cannot get enough of them!

This novel's a fast-paced narrative filled with delicious tension and tasteful encounters. Definitely one of the best out there! 💯👌 I cannot wait to read the sequel and to know more of characters' backgrounds and possible secrets!!!!

Wow I couldn't put it down. I absolutely loved how strong the FMC Lyanndra is and how fiercely she fights for the rights and freedom of her people. Lyanndra is never weak and never backs down not even when she is cursed to be bound to Syran the son of the demigod that she killed. Syran who is nothing like his father and is also strong but is not afraid to love and worship a woman who is his equal in every way. This is Alina Kramer's debut novel the first book in the Star Crossed Crown series and I highly recommend reading it. Can't wait to read the second book.

Received this as an arc in return for a review

I enjoyed those book, I did feel that some parts were too descriptive, everything was described even if it didnt need to be.
The enemies to lovers storyline was refreshing as it wasn't an instant one day "oh I love him" - it happened slowly over time.
Alina has done very well with this book. It was a refreshing read after struggling with a book slump.
I look forward to see what is next for Alina

The Godslayer, book one in The Star Crossed Crown series by Alina Kramer, is actually one of my first forays into romantasy. Shocking, I know, given my love of all things fantastical and strange, but we all make mistakes, right? And what a book to start out with. Beyond the characters, which I will get to in a minute, the writing in this book is absolutely phenomenal. There's never a moment where you don't feel immersed in the world of Alastria and never a second when you aren't rooting for the FMC, Lyanndra, no matter whether her foe is a great wyrm or her crossed star.

The chemistry between Syran and Lyanndra is absolutely astounding. Sometimes, you question whether characters are actually attracted to one another or are just looking to get their freak on because they have an itch to scratch. That is not even remotely a question in The Godslayer. From the moment that they come in contact with one another, you know that even if Lyanndra might fight against their bond? She can't help but learn to be turned on by, and even (gasp!) love Syran.

I am fortunate enough to be have been chosen to by on Alina Kramer's street team for the second book in the series, The Midnight Serpent, but don't let that fool you into thinking I wasn't going into this reading of the first book with a skeptical eye. I'm not one to fall for hype easily or to be drawn in just because there's spice on the page. I'm looking for good world building, interesting and flawed characters, and a storyline that keeps me engaged from beginning to end. The Godslayer gave me all of that and more (though I'm still upset by what happened to my German Shepherd coded dude, Alina! UPSET!). If you love things edgy, a little dark, but can't help but root for the underdog, even if she's fated mates with a scorching redhead? This book is for you!

Lyanndra earned the title Godslayer when she cut down the Demigod King. But her victory isn’t all it seems, especially when the stars bind her to his son, Syran. Trapped in the enemy’s opulent palace, she is fighting a war for her freedom while battling a dangerous attraction to the prince. With treason brewing in the shadows, she must choose between her hatred and her heart.

I picked this book up as I’ve been lucky enough to get an ARC for book 2. I have no idea how The Godslayer passed me by because it is right up my street. I was hooked from the start; the opening chapter jumps straight into a massive battle scene, and you are dodging and diving right alongside our FMC.

I did not know how much I needed a female knight in shining armour until this book. I did, of course, know I needed a heroine with a badass Kelpie though—I may have cheered when we first meet Barra. (I really hope there is more of her in book 2!) Lyanndra is such a fantastic character. Not only do we get to see her in full armour and leathers for most of the book - not just a token moment - but she also feels real. She is wild, wilful, and a bit broken, but devoted to helping her people even when they know nothing about who she really is.

Syran is determined but maybe also a bit hopeless. He wants change, and to be a better king than his father was, but is he focussed enough to bring it about? We will see. I do love how hard Syran falls for his Crossed Star—not just in the palace, but in the way he refuses to give her up and follows her out into the wilds. That is where he realises just how lucky a man he is to have Lyanndra as his fated one.

This book has everything you need: high fantasy battles, magic, and knights in armour. It’s packed with hidden identities, secret pasts, fantastical beasts, and political intrigue. It also doesn’t skimp on the romance, with plenty of slow burn, yearning, and some tasty tropes.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ - Don’t miss out on this book, it hits all the right buttons!

This book had me hooked from the start, I absolutely loved it!!The way Alina wrote this book was magical, everything was written to feel so real and beautiful. The magical creatures and plot are described so vividly that the world feels alive! It feels as if you're there with the character living what they're living. This book had me had me captivated, I couldn't put it down.
The Godslayer takes us to a world of Demigods and Starless. The Starless (humans) being seen as the lesser species in the eye of the Demigods, but especially the king. But the hatred is mutual the starless hate the demigods just as much if not more.
"After all, good women aren't supposed to don their father's armor and ride away in the night to seek their fortunes. Good women don't slay great beasts or joust against the finest of the Celestial Knights.
Good women don't fight. Good women don't kill.
But I am not a good woman."

Then we have our FMC Lyanndra who's posing as the male knight infamous for slaying the Demigod king. Such a bad🍑 she is i absolutely loved her!!!
Then we have our MMC Syran, the Demigod son of Lyanndra's enemy. Their enemies-to-lovers dynamic is electric at best and combustible at worst.
The chemistry between Syran and Lyanndra is absolutely astounding, They are fated by cruel fate from the stars, but I mean come on are they really??They are complete opposites thrust into an impossible situations. Their story is electrifying and invigorating to follow!!!
“Our stars are crossed. Our souls are bound. We are one.”

The bond between Lyanndra and Syran had me in a chokehold the entire book. It was beautiful and emotional and sometime made me want to pull out my hair in frustration of the two. But I absolutely loved reading it!!
I loved it even more because they start out as actual enemies like they absolutely hate each other. So we actually get a real enemies-to-lovers story, thank you Alina for giving me the story I didn't know i needed in my life!!!
Thank you Alina Kramer for the gifted copy and I can't wait to read The Midnight Serpent!!!!

In preparation for my ARC read The Midnight Serpent, book 2 in the Star Crossed Crown series, I was gifted this copy from author Alina Kraemer. Thank you so much for the opportunity, your book is amazing!

I really enjoyed the writing style. It felt so refreshing and flushed out that it left me wanting to see more of the world! I love our MCs and how strong they are on their own, and how they complement each other when they're together. I think Alina did a great job handling themes of acceptance, trust, forgiveness, and compassion. I like that she didn't focus too hard on good vs. bad as black and white, especially considering the barriers to their relationship. I think is interesting because this could have been a complex aspect explored further, but I also recognize that this is not necessarily the story. The route taken also works well for the characters' relationship dynamics with each other, other people, and their world. Overall, I enjoyed the cast of characters. Lyanndra and Cyran are adorable and I love how wholesome and healthy they are. Random side note, for those of you who watch anime, Ressa reminds me so much of Terenezza from "May I Ask for One Final Thing?" I only really remembered the two are different characters after reading descriptions about Ressa's hair lol.

Why it wasn't 5 stars for me

About 75% of the book reminded me of Beauty & the Beast when Belle is exploring the castle grounds and basically the whole plot of Reckless by Lauren Roberts, which made me wonder where the plot went?? I can see why the book went the way it did for character development, but the introduction of the plot came late for me personally and felt rushed. Aside from that, I do like the ending and have some theories about what might happen in book 2 👀

Overall, I enjoyed The Godslayer! It kept me hooked from start to finish and flowed well, and will definitely be diving into book 2 next.

“Good women don’t fight. Good women don’t kill. But I am not a good woman.”

“Our stars are crossed; our souls bound.” I hiss, speaking aloud the horrible truth. “They call you Lord of the Midnight Flame? May you rule over a kingdom of ash.”

“You won’t escape me that easily,” I growl, willing her to wake up. “Not now. Not when I’ve just found you.”

❤️ What I Loved
- Lyanndra is a true knight. She may be a little rough around the edges, but at the heart of everything, all she wants to do is help her people. The old king waged war on the Starless, and she does everything in her power to protect them. She’s just a good person, and it's refreshing.
- I love that this feels like a true fantasy novel. There’s life or death battles, we’re hunting monsters, and Syran travels halfway across the country to get his woman back. The world is fleshed out and feels lived in.
- The relationship between Syran and Lyanndra feels really natural. There’s no insta-love; he has to gain her trust and struggles to do so, resulting in a rare, healthy relationship in the genre.
- Special shout-out to Grandpa Torran. 10/10. No notes.

⚡ What Didn’t Work for Me
As much as I hate Ressa, Syran really did her dirty, and I don’t think this is addressed enough. Like, yay, he found his true love, and I am happy for them both, but he discarded her without a second thought. Is she a raging psycho? Yes. Is it justified? Kind of? If this story were told from Ressa’s POV, Lyanndra would be the villain.

💭 Final Thoughts
This was an incredible debut for Alina Kramer. The story hooked me from page one, and I finished the book in two days. Lady knights are here to stay in fantasy fiction, and I am so excited to see what comes next for Syran and Lyanndra.

📌 Would I recommend?
Yes 100%! This book is perfect for lovers of both traditional fantasy and romantasy. It’s a perfect blend of romance, action and adventure, and I hope to see more stories trend this way in the future.

After reading The Godslayer, I’ll need a few therapy sessions before I can start trusting people again, because this one hit hard. It was glorious but devastating, and I want to give Alina Kramer all my love and gratitude for that.

The Godslayer tells the story of Lyanndra and Syran. He’s a crown prince demigod who’s about to be crowned king. She’s a starless knight who killed his father a year prior and has since been traveling to assist other starless citizens by killing the monsters that make their lives miserable.
As tradition demands, before he can become king, Syran has to perform a ritual to find his crossed star. Although he’s absolutely certain there’ll be none for him, he goes through with the ritual. Can you imagine Lyanndra waking up to find the ring of the man she despises most on her finger? Let me tell you, it’s epic.

If you’re a sucker for medieval settings, swords, armor, castles, and cozy villages, this book is for you. The descriptions of the surroundings are lyrical and vivid, it feels like you’re wandering through the villages and castles yourself. If I were any good at drawing, I would’ve tried to bring this world to life myself. Sadly, I’ll have to wait for real artists to pick up interest. Anyone out there who wants to do that for me? Pretty please ☺️

Alina chose not to give all the characters a background story from the start. Throughout the story, you get to know them bit by bit, but by the end I realized that especially the FMC’s background is still a big blank spot, and I hope that will be revealed in the next book in the series. Where does she come from? Is she really starless? Where is her family? Why did she become a knight? The only thing we know is that she was meant to live according to medieval standards for women, but chose not to. She left and became a knight, but we still need to find out how and why.

The love story is a good one. If you love enemies-to-lovers, slow burn, and fated mates, you’ll love it. This part ties the whole story together, but there’s plenty of action and conniving, so Alina made sure it never got sappy. And then there’s the spicy spice. The only thing I’m going to say about that is: chef’s kiss.

I received an ARC of this book ahead of publication. I’m writing this honest review voluntarily and am grateful to Alina Kramer for the opportunity to read it.

Rating: A 3.75/5 (rounding up to 4)
Spice: 2/5
Tropes: Enemies to lovers, slow burn, grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity, emotional scars, MMC yearning, touch her and die, slow burn, fated mates, wound tending

“Good women don’t fight. Good women don’t kill. But I am not a good woman.”
This is a dual POV medieval romantasy following our FMC Lyanndra, a Starless (common) lady knight/absolute legend and her star crossed lover, black flame wielding Prince Syran. The catch is that Lyanndra is masquerading as The Godslayer, and the God she slayed? Syran’s ruthless father.

Lyanndra's initial plot to thwart the fates and bring the kingdom to it’s knees doesn’t quite go according to plan (no spoilers here!), and from that point on it is a slow burn throughout the book as Syran works to earn her reluctant affection. The story was told beautifully and I loved how strong and courageous the FMC grew to become, and that the MMC was powerful and capable in his own right. The pair really did compliment each other well, and the earned mutual respect throughout the story was refreshing. There was spice, lore, magic, love, tragedy and betrayal. The world building was excellent, and I think my only (personal preference) critique was that parts of the story were a little overly descriptive, and the occasional unnecessary overuse of the name "Godslayer"....it was a little gratuitous at times.

The ending was one I did NOT expect so buckle up for that one. Thankfully this is a series and I'm already halfway through the second book because I needed to know what happened next. Overall, if you like period fantasy, strong and independent FMCs, and a good "fated mates" trope this book is one for you.

Romantasy Perfection: Swords, Soulmates, and High-Stakes Intrigue!

The Godslayer by Alina Kramer is an absolutely excellent, well-written novel that perfectly blends dark, gritty fantasy with some scorching romance. It immediately captivates you with its unique lore, feisty characters, and a driving plot. At the heart of the story is Lyanndra, the titular Godslayer. She is a phenomenal, strong female protagonist whose backstory and journey to become a fabled knight among her people truly feels unique among fantasy stories that I've read.

After helping win a pivotal battle, she kicks off a period of peace for her people, embracing a life of high adventure and monster-slaying that feels reminiscent of The Witcher. The dynamic between Lyanndra and the Crown Prince, Syran, is electric and smoky hot. This dual POV story delivers thick sexual tension and a whole bucket of yearning. When a magical circumstance throws them together, the story turns the usual stereotypes on their head: Lyanndra is the fierce hero; Syran just wants peace. This creates a powerful connection that amps up the spice and will have you hooked. The novel is also packed with a cast of memorable side characters, palace intrigue, and high-stakes drama that keeps you guessing. The action scenes are fast-paced and epic, and the different perspectives enrich the entire book.

This is the first romantasy title I have ever read, but Alina Kramer has woven such a fun, well-written swords and sorcery epic that I dare say… this won't be my last (at least from this author).

If you like your fantasy full of soulmates, spicy good times, and a well-crafted strong and heroic protagonist, this book is for you!

This is a really well paced, high stakes romantacy novel.

The story is told from 2 points of view - our FMC Lyanndra (The Gogslayer) and our MMC Syran.

When Lyanndra, a Starless (powerless) female kills the king of the Demigods in battle whilst hiding her true identity under a knights armour, she becomes the Godslayer. Beloved by her people and a legend in her own lifetime.

A year later the old Kings son Syran takes part in the ritual to find his Star Bound, a mere formality to prove he doesn’t have a fated other half… but a cruel twist of fate intervenes and he ends up bound to the one person who probably hates him as much as he hates her.

The curse of the Star Bound is to be forever tied - the death of one leads to the madness of the other, but can these two come together to save both their people as a traitorous force creeps through the castle and threatens the delicate peace that has existed since the Godslayer killed the old king?

This book is a masterpiece in pacing and suspense. The tension between our two main characters is delicious as they both try to come to terms with their undeniable connection, so at odds, at least for Lyanndra, with the image of the man she has built up in her mind.

The characters are deep, the world building is image invoking, and the Easter eggs for what will happen in this book (and the ones that I am sure will keep me up at night waiting for the next instalment to see if my theories are right) really draw you in. For me any book that can really get me theorising is one that I will read multiple times and happily recommend so others can share in my delirium!

I bought the paperback online in anticipation of Midnight Serpent which is its sequel. I inhaled it book and have already passed it on to my book bestie, so let me encourage you to read this gem.

Lyanndra is a baddie warrior known only as the Godslayer. No one has ever seen her face—she wears her armor like a shield against the world itself. Fiercely loyal to the Starless, she is dedicated to dismantling the injustices upheld by the ruling class: the demigods. Syran, on the other hand, is a demigod—the crown heir, no less. Born on opposite sides of a brewing class war, the two are meant to be enemies… but destiny, as usual, has a funny sense of humor.

Without venturing into spoiler territory, this is a genuinely cute story that wraps up quickly and cleanly. That said, I do think the world could be more fully sketched out. We’re introduced to intriguing monsters and threats, but they often feel like convenient obstacles designed to bring the lovers together rather than fully realized dangers. The main characters are far more developed than their adversaries, who tend to feel one-dimensional. For instance, the ex exists very much as a jealous ex—and unfortunately doesn’t evolve beyond that role.

That said, I’m hopeful the second book will expand both the worldbuilding and the characterization of these already-beloved characters, giving the setting—and its conflicts—the depth they deserve.
Would I still recommend it? Absolutely. Baddie FMCs who resist the inevitable only to eventually capitulate to their own emotions + an enemies to lovers romance = a classic love story. Did I mention the spice? Because it’s got plentyyy. Sugar, spice and everything nice.

In a world where Demigods are blessed by the stars and the Starless struggle to get by, an unlikely fated pair emerges.  Lyanndra - The Godslayer - travels the world as the protector of the Starless.  Syran, a powerful demigod, seeks to be a better man than his father.  Together, can these two lead the Starless and the Demigods in a battle against a common enemy endangering their lives?

I'm calling it right now and saying this book will make my top 5 of 2026!

I devoured this book.  The world building was amazing.  The character development was on point.  The magic system/god system was unique and intriguing.

Lyanndra has made my list of top 5 FMC of all time, joining the likes of Jane Eyre and Ruby Vaughn. She is powerful, stubborn, intense, loyal, with a side of SLIGHT sass making her character utterly fantastic.  She can take care of herself, but her journey of trust and vulnerability with Syran was wonderfully and immersively written.  To watch it unfold was beautiful.  I enjoyed how she was not described as a typical FMC.  She is muscular (not curvy), calloused (not soft), and at one point she even mentions her chipped and broken nails.

Syran is a great MMC.  I love that, in book 1, he is developed well but does not outshine Lyanndra.  His patience, but persistence, in convincing her that he is not his father was admirable.  His desire to prove himself and rectify the sins of his father was raw and visceral.  I am excited to learn more about his magic system.

Read The Godslayer if you love .....

🔥 Magic

🗡️ Fated Mates

🔥 Political Unrest

Sometimes books claim enemies to lovers when the characters are really just mildly annoyed with each other. That is absolutely not the case here. This is true, genuine enemies to lovers, and I loved every sharp, tense second of it.

The story throws you straight into the action with no slow buildup, which I personally appreciated. Even starting in the middle of the chaos, nothing feels confusing or rushed. The author reveals what you need to know naturally as the story unfolds, and it works beautifully.

The world building is solid and familiar: those with power live comfortably, while the powerless suffer. It’s not overly complex or flashy, but that feels intentional. This story isn’t really about the world itself, it’s about the people in it, and how their choices, grudges, and growth shape everything around them.

The characters are the true heart of this book. Their dynamic is intense, layered, and emotionally charged. If I have one tiny complaint (and it’s very minor and slightly spoilery), it’s that I wished the enemies phase lasted just a bit longer. Their tension and push-pull while trying to figure each other out was so good that I wasn’t ready to let it go.

Thankfully, while this is part of a series, it does not end on a soul-crushing cliffhanger. Instead, it sets up book two in a way that feels exciting rather than anxiety-inducing, which I deeply appreciate.

A fast-paced, character-driven fantasy with real enemies-to-lovers energy, strong emotional beats, and a satisfying ending. I’m very much looking forward to book two.

This is one of those books that just hits right, from beginning to end. If you're looking for a good fun time, fantasy romance that's fast pace, with spice and plot, with an MMC and FMC that are just right; banter, cat and mouse trope, FATE!, among other highly sort out tropes by Romantasy lovers like myself, LOOK NO MORE! This is it.

At around 33% in I had to stop and say: Wow... I am actually enjoying this book. I'm hooked!
The only reason I had to put it down was because -life-, I'm an adult. So I have responsibilities and unfortunately, I don't do Audiobooks. My eyes need to see letters. I can't really do dishes and read my Kindle... otherwise, I wouldn't have put it down because, it was such a good read.

I liked that the author's writing style was easy to follow, easy to read. This book reminded me of Elden Ring, Mulan AND The Witcher! Like if those three had a baby, this book would be it. It also had Medieval vibes!
Loved the side quests, the beasts, the action scenes, I loved Barra!! Honestly, I kind of want a Barra in my life now. Not a single chapter was boring.

I had a really good fun time reading this book.

The only thing I feel that left me hanging was that there were some details in the plot that were left up in the air, BUT, there's a book 2 coming up! So, maybe my answers will be there.

Side note: Shout out to an FMC that thinks before she acts! I loved that for her!

"Every form of her is striking, and I realize now that I want all facets of her. I want her as a woman, as the Godslayer, as all of the things she is.
She is the moon in my endless night.
I want every part of her.
And I always get what I want."

The Godslayer by Alina Kramer is a love story about fated enemies-to-lovers in a world where Demigods rule. Lyanndra and Syran start their journey as strangers, and their paths are forced together by fate. Their journey is filled with resentment, tension, yearning and ultimately - acceptance.

This book is a quick, fast-paced read that barely touches the surface of both Lyanndra and Syran's individual and combined journeys. I found myself really wanting more personal character development for both Lyanndra and Syran (what is their family history? Why does Lyanndra hate Demigods so much? Why does Syran not agree with his father's rein?), as well as more interaction between both characters to really solidify their bond. However! I have a feeling most of my burning questions were left unanswered intentionally, and will be divulged in book 2, so I'm really looking forward to continuing the series.

Also, I did not see the plot twist at the end coming, so that was a fun little surprise!

Tropes:
⚕️Enemies to lovers
⚕️Fated mates
⚕️Dual POV
⚕️Badass FMC
⚕️Royal MMC
⚕️Witty banter
⚕️He falls first
⚕️Complicated royal family dynamics

If you love romantasy books with a medieval setting, twisted family dynamics, an FMC and MMC who fight their way to the sheets, and some laugh out loud witty banter - definitely read this book!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✨ 4.5/5
🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ 4/5 spice

Star-crossed and impossible to cage ✨📖

My biggest takeaway and what I loved most was watching the MMC start off wanting to keep her in a box, only to realize that control isn’t an option. She can’t be contained, and he has to learn to either adapt or get out of the way.

The Godslayer was such a fun, fast-paced romantasy. Enemies-to-lovers tension, a badass FMC, and a medieval romantasy setting I really enjoyed. I flew through all 327 pages in two days.

“As I watch her now, I marvel at how different she is out here in the wilderness. How could I have ever wanted to lock her away?”

The ending felt satisfying without being frustrating not a brutal cliffhanger, but still open enough that I’m excited to continue.

Can’t wait for book 2!!
