Small towns aren’t meant for billionaire Movie Stars, but somehow, Sutton Silvers fits right in. I know I should ignore him, the diner regular with his easy charm and quiet intensity. He belongs to another world, one of flashing cameras, billion-dollar contracts, and fake Hollywood smiles.
I belong here, in the safety of routine. In the safety of Whispers.
But Sutton sees through the walls I’ve built, through the secret past I keep hidden. He should walk away, just like I should guard my heart. But there’s something about him, the way he looks at me like I’m worth the risk, that has me wanting more.
I know better than to dream of a future with a man like him. And yet, when danger starts creeping closer, he’s the one stepping in, refusing to let me face it alone. He has a choice to leave Hollywood behind or risk it all for the chance that I’m his forever.

I received an advanced copy and willingly leave my honest review❤️🩹
Narration by Duncan Cole & June Deborahae! This one was good. My first narration by both of them and I absolutely loved it!
This was such a great listen!! I love the little town of whispers! When can I move in?! 😅
Nikki and Sutton were just perfect! Both dealing with secrets & hiding from things in their past, but they find a way to trust and lean on each other. This one was had me laughing, swooning, feeling so deeply for these characters! Nikki’s protectiveness over James & the love she had for him, just had my heart!
Samantha Skye absolutely knows how to write a dirty mouth MMC! The spice in this was delicious!!!
I was so hooked on their story & loved the added suspense this one gave me!! Definitely recommend this book & rest of the billionaires of whispers series!!
Samantha Skye delivers yet another banger from the wonderful town of Whispers! At this point, call me a permanent resident as I, too, have a mansion on Billionaire Boulevard!
Earlier in the series, Sutton was first introduced as Sawyer's younger brother, holywood movie star and notorius ladies man. However, when he posted half naked pictures on his social media to promote the goat's milk soap for his brother's girlfriend, I instantly knew there was more to him than meets the eye. When he later asked his brother to help him flee Hollywood and hide out in Whispers, I was almost feral to get to his story!
Insert Nikki (Charlotte), the quiet and mysterious waitress at the diner who tries to make herself small and unassuming due to her own past, yet she captivates Sutton's attention the moment he lays eyes on her. Nikki is on the run with her younger brother, and their need to stay hidden is literally a matter of life or death. Sutton has become overwhelmed with the media scrutiny and endless demands of life in Hollywood. Two strangers who appear to be total opposites, develop a mutual trust with one another based solely on their shared need for privacy and anonymity.
One of my favorite elements of this story is that even though Nikki is aware of who Sutton is, she doesn't let his fame dictate the way she treats him. And as Sutton gets to know and develop feelings for Nikki, his wealth is never a focal point in their relationship. In fact, he knows how much she values green living and sustainability, and he goes out of his way to make sure every gift he gives her is intentional, practical, and leaves little to no carbon footprint. I honestly had to keep reminding myself that he is, in fact, a billionaire.
Nikki's little brother James( Preston) stole my heart, and he might be the smartest 10 year old who ever existed! He was forced to endure so much trauma that culminated to him being on the run and pretending his older sister is his mom! Through it all, he never complained as they struggled to make ends meet, he remained studious and excelled in school, all while keeping their true identities a secret from the world. I was in awe of that kid from start to finish and the bond he soon developed with Sutton as his older brother had me sobbing by the end!
As far as the audiobook, Duncan and June were the perfect narrators who truly embodied the characters of Sutton and Nikki. Their performances felt earnest and genuine and I truly love that all of these books were recorded in duet narration.
Throughout this story I laughed, I cried, and even started to let doubt creep in of reaching a HEA, because the obstacles started to seem too hard to overcome. By the end, I found myself crying even harder because how dare I give up on these two; their love was a constant force in a world full of uncertainty.
The Hollywood heartthrob and the diner girl...the most unlikely pairing, who's story seemed to have been written in the stars!

• THOUGHTS: Sutton, Sutton, Sutton, how I loved his big heart! He was smitten with Nikki and her little dude! Every single diner scene was my favorite especially when James comes out of his shy side and befriends Sutton. It was adorable. Sutton and the lengths he went through to make Nikki comfortable and to help with her dreams and ambitions. Nikki was so smart, and one of her quirks was spouting off random facts that she had in her head at any given time. I really loved that dynamic between her and Sutton. Nikki was free to be who she really is. James as well. They were excepted and it was so sweet to witness. I always get sucked into Samantha Skyes stories. They are so easy to get lost into. Her story's have that suspense that keeps you totally engaged into the story. Sutton has been done so well! I definitely enjoyed this story and I can't wait for book 6.
Oookkaayy, narrator chat time: Duncan and June are both new narrators to me! and they freaking rocked it! I absolutely loved both their performance and how they brought these characters to life and provided me with little eargasms through out the entire book. I will for sure be on the look out for books that they narrate.
Loved being back in Whispers! I don't know what it is about the Silvers brothers but Sawyer and Sutton are book boyfriends for sure! Sutton and Nikki are great together, they are each other's safe space! Nikki is not one for letting people in, she has secrets and is always on alert, but Sutton shows her what it's like to have someone look out for you and protect you, so slowly she lowers her guard for him! Sutton is hiding out from the media and Nikki is a breathe of fresh air to him as she isn't after the movie star or his money, she just likes him, Sutton Silvers! I loved watching these two come together and help support each other! As always in Whispers there is always something that goes wrong, this level of suspense was good and didn't take away from the characters it just added to their story! Cannot wait for Griffin's book next and we can find out more about this grumpy contractor!
✨ Tropes ✨ 🧡Age Gap 🧡Movie Star x Waitress 🧡Single Guardian 🧡Girl in Hiding 🧡He Falls First 🧡Protective Hero 🧡Strong Heroine ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐🌶️🌶️ I loved being back in Whispers. Sutton was in town hiding from the media. He has such a big heart and you could see that when he interacts with Nikki's younger brother James. Sutton liked that Nikki didn't care about his Hollywood Heart-throb status and saw the man underneath all the hype. Nikki doesn't let people in and she has secrets that are life and death. She's protected herself and her little brother on her own. I loved how Sutton and Nikki learn to trust each other and find that safe place to land. The way that Nikki would throw out random facts rolling around in her head at any given time. I loved the dynamics between them. The suspense was great as was the spice. I can't wait to get the next one in the series.
I loved this book!!! Sutton was everything I thought he would be and more. He was absolutely amazing. I loved the dynamic between him and Charlotte (Nikki) They were perfect together.
Where Nikki is strong willed and resourceful. Sutton is protective and suave. I loved reading their story and imagining watching them fall in love. They really were amazing characters, especially her little brother James. Her story is awe inspiring. I loved every minute of her story.
Overall this book is full of love and strength. It has an evil villain and a epic redemption. It has lots of laughs along with some sad moments that are sure to bring a tear to your eye. I love how the past characters are pulled into this book as well. They show love and loyalty for their friends and stand by them through it all.
I am so in love with the Billionaires of Whispers. Each alpha male is amazing and each lady they fall for are perfect for them. These characters are amazing and they are super supportive of one another. Loyal! I can't wait to read Griffin's story. I am so looking forward to it. I bet it is going to be epic.
Loved this book. It was the first I’ve read of this series and it’s safe to say I’ll be reading the previous books! This book was addictive and I couldn’t wait to get back to it.
Sutton and Charlotte’s story is beautiful! I love how they both find each other while “hiding out”. She knows he’s a movie star hiding out and he knows she’s on the run, but is willing to wait until she’s ready to share her story. It’s a slow burn until it’s not. Fate definitely brought them together. This book has the perfect blend of banter, small town charm, and mystery.
Sutton by Samantha Skye is the latest addition to The Billionaires of Whispers series, blending small-town romance with suspense. And she hit the one out of the park!! Once you start reading it, you won’t stop. It’s that good!
Nikki’s past involves secrets that slowly unfold throughout the story, keeping you intrigued the entire time.
Sutton of course has his own battles to face, deciding if he wants to stay in the spot light or give it up for the small town of Whispers and the woman and little boy that stole his heart. Not to mention the fact he wants to overcome an allergy to fulfill her dreams shows just how perfect he is.
Sutton is a sweet, slow-burn romance filled a satisfying journey toward love and self-discovery.
And don’t forget the spice, when it hits, it HITS!
She does it again! Sutton by Samantha Skye will have you hooked the moment you start reading! This book has the perfect balance of humor, heart, and heat. I laughed, I cried, and I definitely stayed up way too late “just one more chapter”-ing. I seriously got teary eyed in a lot of parts in the book bc Sutton is just soooo sweet, Charlotte is incredibly thoughtful, and then the ending w/ their father! Ahhhhh! 🥹🥹🥹
I mean, immunotherapy for bees bc he knows Charlotte loves bees?!!! Like, commonnnn! How. freaking. sweet!!!
If you love playful chemistry, feel-good romance, and a hero who doesn’t stand a chance once he’s hooked—add this one to your TBR immediately. Seriously, the writing is just next level, everyone needs to read books by Samantha Skye! 💕📚
Additionally, I received an ALC of Sutton & let me tell you, the narration is top notch by both characters! Sutton’s voice is smooth, velvety & so easy to listen to. Nikki’s voice was everything it needed to be, from being emotional to her little southern accent 🤭 hehehe soooo good!!
🎧 Audiobook review 🎧⚡ Spoilers might lie ahead—I usually like to talk shit about everything that goes down in these books
Okay, so I took a tiny break from my exclusive MM spiral (three months strong, your honor) to crawl back into Whispers — where the whiskey flows freely and the men are apparently grown in a lab for female delusion.
Let me start responsibly: Tanner is still my number one boo. That man owns real estate in my soul. HOWEVER. Sutton has aggressively and enthusiastically weaseled his way up the ranking thanks to what can only be described as community service-level oral generosity. We love a philanthropic king.
Now. Let’s get the complaint out of the way before I start barking.
The first 25%? A little… beige. A touch circular. It felt like we were emotionally jogging in place. I got nervous. I skipped a couple of paragraphs like the impatient gremlin that I am. I was briefly concerned we were heading into “Am I about to DNF?” territory.
Also — Nikki/Charlotte, sweetheart. For someone intelligent, there were moments where the dialogue felt like a copy-paste situation.
Sutton: “I like you.” Her: “I like you too.” Sutton: “I enjoy spending time with you.” Her: “I enjoy spending time with you too.”
Groundbreaking. Riveting. Pulitzer material.
BUT THEN.
Ladies. Gentlemen. Chaos goblins.
Once that initial slump passed? Oh, we were MOVING.
Sutton didn’t just fall. That man tripped, spiraled, and face-planted directly into love. And I respect that. God bless his big, soft, emotionally available billionaire heart. The way he showed up for Nikki? The protection? The devotion? The “I see you and I choose you” energy?
Chef’s kiss. Five Michelin stars.
And when he said, “Please don’t do this to me. Don’t make me fall in love with you and run away.”
Sir.
SIR.
I absolutely did not gasp dramatically and short-circuit. I remained composed. Very demure. Very stable.
Now let’s address the filthy elephant in the room.
That. Mouth.
Sutton was noticeably more crude than the other Whispers men — and I say that with affection and enthusiasm. The dirty talk? Slightly rougher. A little less polished. And I ate it up like it was a personality trait.
Do I wish we had more spicy scenes? Yes. Always yes. I feel like this series slow-burns us to near combustion, gives us premium middle-section heat, and then suddenly it’s “dramatic crisis! save the day!” and the bedroom door gently closes.
Ma’am. Open it again.
Samantha Skye writes dirty talk criminally well. It’s one of my absolute favorite kinks, and we do not get enough of it in duet narration form. Which brings me to the real MVP.
The audiobook.
Samantha, you own my heart. First, for this universe. Second, for blessing us with duet narration. Third, for assembling a cast that deserves standing ovations.
Duncan Cole and June DeBorahae? Disrespectfully good. The emotion. The rasps. The tension. The spice. The commitment. I was unwell in the best way.
Also — Nikki? A breath of fresh air. I have impossibly high, borderline tyrannical standards for FMCs. It’s a flaw. I know. But she delivered. Competent, layered, not painfully stupid. We love growth.
And yes, she does go through the classic Whispers “billionaire initiation ritual,” because apparently every woman in that town must survive a dramatic trial before earning her emotionally intense rich man. Tradition is tradition.
James was adorable — and this is high praise because I usually view children in romance as tiny narrative cockblockers. But he passed the vibe check.
Final verdict: A slightly slow start, a full-throttle emotional payoff, elite dirty talk, and an audiobook performance that deserves flowers, applause, and possibly a tax break.
Sutton by Samantha Skye ripped my heart open in all the best ways It’s emotional, angsty, and absolutely swoony—so worth listening. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
🎧Audiobook Review ALC SUTTON (The Billionaires of Whispers) by:Samantha Sky Narrated by : Duncan Cole and June DeBorahae 5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3.5/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️ 10/10🎙️🎧
This is Sutton and Charlotte’s story
🎞️ Sutton From the moment Sutton Silvers steps into the small town of Whispers, you feel the weight of his past and the heaviness of fame he’s trying to escape. Sutton is a billionaire movie star with a guarded heart — tough exterior, soft center — and he carries his scars with quiet pain. He’s protective, intuitive. Sutton soon became enamored with the little waitress and her ten year old brother or son. But somehow he just knew there’s more to her story— and now he’s quite invested with the pocket Rocket who not only seems to be on the run but also that she has a brilliant mind. Invested.. absolutely. And every time he looks at Nikki, he can feel the longing and fear.
But instantaneously his protective instincts flared to life for this tiny woman.. Tinkerbell.
🥧 Charlotte aka Nikki the dinner girl — is strong, sharp-witted, and fiercely independent, but has a past secret she’s hiding. Charlotte spent years building walls, convincing herself no one will ever find out. Her sarcasm hides vulnerability, her quiet moments hide heartbreak … and when Sutton starts chipping away at her defenses, it’s tender, messy, and deeply real. Charlotte knows she should ignore him, the movie star regular with his easy charm and quiet intensity. He belongs to a world she’s hiding from, one of flashing cameras, billion-dollar contracts, and fake smiles. But with every interactions this man is breaking down her walls.
Their connection isn’t instantaneous — it’s slow burn, fraught with past wounds, healing, and longing that keeps you turning (or listening) fast.

Sutton The Billionaires of Whispers By: Samantha Skye Narrated by: Duncan Cole, June DeBorahae
Samantha Skye welcomes you back to Whispers for another amazing novel, a small-town romance that captivates your attention and tugs at your heartstrings the entire time. Sutton, a Hollywood movie star in the height of his career, is taking a breather away from the hustle and bustle of his life in Hollywood and is enjoying the quiet life in Whispers, where his brother Sawyer recently moved to. He likes to visit the diner in town, and the owner knows he is keeping a low profile and helps him keep his anonymity. It isn’t just the food that keeps him going there, but there is a girl working there who he finds intriguing and he wants to get to know her. Nikki ran away from her old life and has been hiding out in Whispers with the only person she could trust, the one she is protecting, James, who is only ten years old and wiser than his years. Nikki keeps to herself and trusts no one, so when Sutton started talking to her, she was hesitant to let him in and only shared so much. Sutton recognized her fragile state and that she was hiding something, but he never gave up on her. It was a slow build to their relationship, building trust, becoming friends, and he was even great with James. Watching these two get to know each other and learning more about each of them was everything. Sutton was at a crossroads and was rethinking his career, and Nikki, who always had a go bag and one foot out of the door, can Sutton convince her to not run, that he will protect them. I loved all the layers of this story and how it all plays out, with the perfect balance of drama, angst, some mystery, thrilling and suspenseful moments, heartfelt emotions and a slow-burn, but so worth the wait romance. And as always, the writing, plot, and world-building are fantastic, as are the depth of the characters, their development, and growth. Samantha Skye, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride.
🎧📚🎧 Duncan Cole and June DeBorahae deliver an outstanding performance, bringing the characters to life, giving each a voice that was fitting for a perfect portrayal of each. Cole nailed it as Sutton, embodying his character completely and was a natural in the role. DeBorahae was just as fabulous in Nikki’s role, showcasing every aspect of her personality perfectly, including her strength, determination, and fierceness. Both were fantastic performing the roles of the side and secondary characters too, both young and old. They set the ideal tone for the story, and their expressive performance conveys all the characters’ emotions, and has you feeling them all. It is a pleasure to listen to these two entertaining storytellers, and their captivating performance keeps you glued to the story.

Sutton by Samantha Skyes is book five in The Billionaires of Whispers and it delivers a soft, yet emotional small-town romance wrapped around a protective movie star hero and a heroine learning how to stop running from her past. This story leans heavily into comfort, healing, and the feeling of finally finding a place and a person who feels like home.
Sutton Silvers is a famous actor, but instead of coming across as arrogant or larger than life, he feels grounded and genuine. In Whispers he is not treated like a celebrity, and he clearly prefers it that way. Watching him settle into the rhythm of small-town life was one of the most enjoyable parts of the book. He is patient, attentive, and quietly devoted from the very beginning. Rather than overwhelming Nikki, he gives her space while still making it clear she matters to him. He is protective without being controlling, and his affection shows up in small, consistent actions instead of grand gestures.
Nikki carries a heavy past and lives carefully, structured around routine and safety. Her fear of being seen and truly known drives much of the emotional tension. The romance builds slowly because trust must come first. Sutton does not try to fix her life; he simply stays. That steady presence becomes the heart of the story and makes their relationship believable. Their connection feels gentle but intense, built on emotional intimacy more than physical attraction.
The danger element adds a layer of suspense without overpowering the romance. It reinforces the central theme of choosing to stop surviving and start living. The conflict is less about drama between them and more about whether she can let herself accept love and security after everything she has experienced. Sutton’s willingness to risk his career and his carefully constructed life for her makes the emotional payoff satisfying.
The Whispers setting continues to be a highlight of the series. The town feels warm and lived in, with familiar characters weaving naturally into the story. There is a strong found family element, and it enhances the emotional depth, especially as the heroine slowly allows herself to belong.
Sutton is a comforting, heartfelt installment that focuses on healing, trust, and quiet devotion. Readers who enjoy protective heroes, small town settings, and romances where emotional safety matters just as much as passion will really enjoy this one.
I adore small town romances, and Samantha Skye knows how to deliver them with emotion, passion, delicious men, and strong women. SUTTON,The Billionaires of Whispers #5, is a celebrity in hiding, secret past, protective hero, found family, touch her and die romance, and fast became one of my favourites from Samantha.
Sutton Silvers is a Hollywood celebrity in hiding, escaping a social media frenzy he can only blame himself for. Whispers has brought him peace and contentment, just what he needed to reassess his life. Visits to the local diner have become part of his daily routine, not only for the food but to catch glimpses of the waitress who has caught his eye. Nikki is on the run with James, Whispers bringing them both a chance to breathe and find some normality. Nikki trusts nobody and has vowed to protect James with her life. She has a vulnerability about her, yet at the same time possesses a strength which intrigues Sutton, he wants to know more about her.
The friendship which grew between Sutton and Nikki captivated me. There was a gradual build of trust, sharing of emotions, and telling of secrets. When Nikki is hurt Sutton's protective side come to the forefront and talk about making a girl swoon, this man is all alpha. I loved that Sutton started to do little things that helped to make Nikki and James' lives a bit easier. When he found out she loved bees, what he did after that had me holding my heart and swooning big time, this man really cared. As Nikki began to open up, it was obvious how sweet she was, the role she had taken on with James, and just how much Sutton was beginning to mean to her. Then there was Sutton's growing friendship with James, that really touched my heart. When Sutton discovers Nikki and James' secret, will he be able to sonvincce her to stay in whispers?
🎧Audio Review🎧
June Deborahae and Duncan Cole are new narrators to me, and their narration was exquisite. They were superb in bringing all of the characters to life, picking up on little nuances, the emotions, the speech tones, and the humour. They ensured listening was an enjoyable experience, and had me laughing, tearing up, and sighing ... so many sighs.
Samantha Skye has delivered a slow burn romance which was a journey of self-discovery, trust, understanding, acceptance, and love. The added suspense and mystery brought another layer to the story. I loved that characters from previous books are included, often adding some much needed humour. I loved, loved, loved this book, not wanting to put it down until I finished. Next up is Griffin's story, and I'm looking forward to that that one.
I received an Advanced Listener Copy from Valentine PR, and I’m voluntarily leaving this review.
Listen… if you’ve been in Whispers before, you already know this town stays ready to adopt a broken man and hand him a second chance. And Sutton? Oh, he needed it BAD.
Fresh off a Hollywood scandal he didn’t even cause, Sutton runs to Whispers to hide from the paparazzi, the chaos, and the nonsense. And the town does what it always does — wraps him up like a weighted blanket and tells the world to mind its business.
Then he walks into the diner… and sees her.
His Tinkerbell.
🎧 Narration Duncan Cole gives Sutton that perfect “I’m tired of fame but still fine as hell” energy, and June Deborahea nails the heroine’s mix of brilliance, anxiety, and quiet strength. Together, they make the story feel intimate, emotional, and just messy enough to be believable.
✨ The Setup She’s brilliant — MIT‑brilliant — introverted, and always with her “son.” (We’re putting that in quotes because… well… if you know, you know. And if you don’t, you’ll find out.)
She’s hiding. He’s hiding. And somehow, they still manage to find each other in the middle of all that fear.
💛 The Romance This love story is soft, sweet, and surprisingly spicy. Sutton falls for her FAST — like, “finishes in his pants because he’s .......overwhelmed” fast. And honestly? I respect the enthusiasm.
He calls her Tinkerbell because she drops random facts like it’s her love language. He builds up a tolerance to bees — BEES !!!!!!....because she loves them. He’s out here planning future honey farms like it’s nothing.
Meanwhile, her “son” is the new kid in town, and Sutton immediately steps in like the world’s gentlest giant. He helps him settle in, protects them both, and becomes exactly what they didn’t even know they needed.
🐝 The Intrigue There’s a layer of danger humming under everything secrets, people searching, pasts creeping up but it never steals the spotlight. It just keeps the tension tight and the pages turning. And yes, the breadcrumbs for the next book are sprinkled very intentionally.
💫 Final Thoughts This is easily one of my favorites in the series. Tanner still holds the crown, but Sutton slid right into second place with no hesitation.
The way he gives up the glamorous life for something quiet and real… the way they protect each other… the way their love grows in the middle of chaos… it’s just chef’s kiss.
I was already primed for Sutton’s story after his outrageous social media post for Gertie’s soap, but I wasn't prepared for the major book hangover this story left behind. It’s the kind of read that has you wandering through real life wishing you could slip straight into the town of Whispers and never come back.
Samantha Skye’s writing is exceptionally immersive, making the town feel less like a setting and more like a living, breathing community. Between the diner regulars, the flows of Whiteman’s Whiskey, and the bone-deep loyalty of the locals, you can't help but want to befriend everyone in this protective, tight-knit world.
Sutton Silvers is a fascinating contradiction—a billionaire Hollywood heartthrob hiding from the hollow flash of fame who somehow fits perfectly into a small town. When he falls for Nikki, he falls hard and fast, and his devotion is staggering.
Watching him win over "Tinkerbell" and her son, James, was incredibly heartwarming, especially given the heavy secrets Nikki is guarding. One of the most "puddle on the floor" moments has to be Sutton’s commitment to Nikki’s passion for bees; the fact that a man deathly allergic to them would undergo venom immunotherapy just to be near what she loves is the ultimate "planning our future" energy.
The chemistry between them is absolute fire, expertly balancing sweet quirkiness with high-octane spice. Nikki is such a resilient, guarded heroine, and seeing her finally let someone catch her after years of running was beautiful.
The plot hums with a perfect blend of romantic suspense and mystery that keeps you hooked without overshadowing the emotional growth of the characters. Samantha Skye truly has a magic touch for building tension, warmth, and humor all at once, creating a story that feels both gritty and safe.
The audiobook experience is a must, as Duncan Cole and June Deborahae bring a whole new level of life to these characters. Duncan Cole has officially become a favorite voice of mine, perfectly capturing Sutton's quiet intensity, while June Deborahae’s performance is a joy—especially her hilarious "fake southern belle" bit in chapter three.
By the time the story reached that Griffin teaser at the end, I was practically feral for the next installment. This is easily some of Skye's best work, and I am fully invested in every soul-stirring moment she crafts in this world.
Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Sutton delivers a heartfelt slow-burn romance that strikes a wonderful balance between sweetness and spice. Hollywood royalty Sutton Silver and small-town waitress Nikki may come from completely different worlds, but their connection feels genuine and deeply layered. Both are hiding out in Whispers for reasons of their own, and that shared need for secrecy creates a compelling foundation for their relationship. Nikki’s situation, in particular, adds emotional weight—she isn’t just protecting herself, but also her younger brother, whom the world believes is her son. The stakes are high, and that underlying tension adds depth to what might otherwise have been a straightforward romance. Their story is engaging and the dual point of view works beautifully, allowing readers to fully understand both Sutton’s growing disillusionment with fame and Nikki’s guarded determination to remain hidden. The pacing remains strong throughout, steady and engaging and laced with the moments of humour that have defined this series woven throughout. While Nikki knows exactly who Sutton is, he senses there’s far more to her than meets the eye, but his patience and quiet confidence stand out. He understands there’s more to her than being a single mother doing her best, but she’s a woman with secrets. Rather than pushing, he patiently waits until she feels safe and trusts him enough to share her truth. The added thread of suspense adds another layer to their story. As the danger Nikki fled begins to close in, the tension intensifies, giving the romance a sharper edge and raising the stakes in a meaningful way making Sutton a strong, well-rounded addition to the series, one that blends heart, humour, and drama seamlessly. There’s just something about the men of Whispers that makes the town feel irresistible, if only it were a real place, I’d happily pack my bags and move there… though they’d definitely need someone to open a bookstore.
The audiobook experience only enhances this story. Samantha Skye’s writing translates effortlessly to audio, and the duet narration by Duncan Cole and June Deborahae brings Sutton and Nikki’s relationship vividly to life. Their performances capture the warmth, chemistry, and light-hearted moments perfectly. As a first-time listener to both narrators, I was thoroughly impressed and would happily seek out more of their work. This is one audiobook I’d gladly revisit.
Main tropes Movie star × hidden identity On the run No third-act breakup ♥️
This pains me because Sawyer—his brother’s book—was my favorite in the series, so maybe I had high hopes, but this one just didn’t land for me. The storyline and plot made no sense to me. It was painfully predictable and nothing was surprising.
********** Opinions and spoilers **********
So Nikki/Charlotte (23yo) is on the run from her abusive stepmom with her little brother James/Preston (10yo). She finds a small town because of the memory of a drink she once had there with her father and ends up staying.
How could James be enrolled in school if he was there under a false name, with no legal papers and no legal guardianship?
If they did somehow have all that, why couldn’t Nikki work a better job instead of a low-paying cash one?
The whole reason for leaving was one of the stupidest things I’ve ever read. So the stepmom was awful and especially mean to Preston. They were multi-billionaires from an oil empire. Couldn’t they install cameras and show the dad how bad it was? Or hire a private investigator to get some kind of proof? Charlotte has a trust fund, she’s highly educated, and the only thing she could think of was running away? Really?
Then comes Sutton, the movie star extraordinaire. Of course, a few scandals made him want to go into hiding and change his whole life. Because who wouldn’t want to switch their career path from blockbuster movie star to small-town commercial actor? I do understand the part about wanting to get closer to his brother and his newfound family (again, Sawyer’s book was my favorite).
I didn’t feel any chemistry between them. It went from 0 to 100 way too fast. No yearning, no courtship, no flirting—just strangers straight to bed.
And of course, the person trying to stay low-profile and not be noticed by anyone starts a relationship with the most high-profile person in town. That’s clearly the best plan to stay hidden. 🙄 And her comparing their relationship to Romeo and Juliet in chapter 38 was…
Also, at the beginning she gets mugged for $100, and the next time she sees the same guys she acts like nothing happened and just serves them? Really? Grow a backbone, woman.
The storyline of Sutton's manager was so predictable.
I did love the relationship Sutton developed with Preston and he's the only one who deserves stars.
Sutton by Samantha Skye is a contemporary romance novel, the 5th book in the Billionaires of Whispers series. Thank you to Author Samantha Skye and The Author Agency for the gifted ARC/ALC in exchange for my honest opinions.
This book can be described as:
🐝 Romantic Suspense 🎬 Billionaire Romance 🐝 Small Town Romance 🎬 Protective Hero 🐝 Forced Proximity 🎬 Leaving It All Behind for Love 🐝 Opposites Attract
My honest opinions:
The MMC, Sutton, an actor that is trying to get away from his busy LA life, goes to Whispers after several strange things keep happening to him. He meets a woman named, Nikki at a diner. Nikki the FMC, is on the run with her little brother, James, trying to escape a wicked step-mother, essentially. Sutton becomes smitten with Nikki very quickly and aims to protect her and James at whatever cost. The story leads itself to some romantic suspense storylines, and “whodunnit?!” moments which kept me engaged and wanting to know more.
Unfortunately, I did not find myself connecting with these characters as much as I had hoped. The couple’s chemistry was great once their relationship started and I did enjoy lots of the spicy scenes, which were written very well. The thing that just put me off a little was Nikki’s nerdiness… I guess that’s just personal preference and really has nothing to do with the writing or story. I also didn’t care for the nickname he gave her… it just didn’t feel sexy or cute. I would give this 3🌶️’s for the quality and amount of spice.
I was fortunate to listen to the ALC as well and I fell in love with the narrators. Both are first time for me! The female narrator could seamlessly go between characters making it feel like it was multicast! She also fit the character so well. The male narrator also did an impressive job, going through many different men/boy voices throughout the story. I also liked his sexy voice during the spicy scenes as he added some grit and tension, without it feeling forced. Well done!
Finally, I love the town of Whispers! Samantha Skye writes it as if she’s telling us about a real place… I only wish I could swim in those hot springs and sip a whiskey at Whiteman’s Distillery. I enjoyed getting snippets of characters from previous books and learning more about the next “Billionaire of Whispers” to get a book. Overall I rate this book 4⭐️’s
Sutton is a Hollywood heartthrob, rich, successful, and at the top of his action-movie career. But beneath the outward veneer of the celebrity lifestyle he has been living is a man who's a little lost and looking for something he can't quite put his finger on. So when he decides to take a hiatus from his glamorous life and goes to hide out in Whispers with his brother and new nephews for a few months, he doesn't expect to find Nikki, the small-town diner's waitress, so intriguing. But Nikki has secrets and a past she needs to keep from catching up to her and James, so getting involved with Sutton and the attention he would bring is the last thing she should do, and yet neither of them can help but be drawn together.
Without giving too much away, both Nikki and Sutton face challenges regarding their immediate and future paths, both as individuals and in their growing romance, and if they can possibly have a future together. I really enjoyed the way their romantic connection developed over the course of the book and how they both slowly opened up and trusted the other. They had great chemistry, and the spicy scenes were great, never detracting from the overall story whilst being deliciously steamy. Sutton is a caretaker and protector at his core, and I always enjoy seeing an MMC perform acts of service. This man does the above beautifully without being overbearing. Also, I'm a sucker for a cute nickname, and Samantha tends to nail those in this series, and this one was no different. I did have to suspend belief a tad in regards to the reasoning behind the suspense element of this story, but overall I enjoyed it.
Both narrators were new to me, and they performed the heck out of this audiobook. They embodied Nikki's and Sutton's characters really well, and their delivery of the material was nuanced and multifaceted. I thoroughly enjoyed this journey back to Whispers and think it is an excellent addition to this series, and I am very much looking forward to Griffin's book in the future. 🌶🌶🌶
"My little Tinker Bell is a mystery, one I really want to unravel... with my tongue."
"I sit on the jet alone and I feel lonely for the first time ever. Not because no one is here. But because she isn't."
I devoured Sutton by Samantha Skye and I am still emotionally vibrating.
Small town girl + billionaire movie star sounds like chaos on paper. What I got was tenderness wrapped in quiet intensity with a side of “touch her and you will regret it.” And I ate. It. Up.
Sutton Silvers is not your flashy red carpet cliché. Yes, he’s rich. Yes, he’s famous. Yes, he probably smells like expensive cologne and good decisions. But in Whispers? He’s just the diner regular with that calm, steady presence that makes you feel seen instead of dazzled. And the way he looks at Nikki, at Charlotte, like she’s the main event and not a footnote in his life? I melted into a puddle on the floor.
Nikki absolutely owned my heart. She isn’t weak. She isn’t dramatic for the sake of it. She’s guarded for reasons that make sense. You can feel the weight of her past in the way she moves through life, careful and controlled. Watching Sutton gently peel back those layers without forcing her was EVERYTHING. He doesn’t bulldoze her walls. He waits at the door with patience and quiet devotion until she chooses to open it. That kind of love hits different.
The chemistry was soft but charged. Not explosive fireworks every second, but that slow building warmth that feels safe and dangerous all at once. The tension wasn’t just physical. It was emotional. Every glance felt loaded. Every almost confession made my stomach flip.
And when the danger creeps in? Suddenly this small town romance sharpens its edges. Sutton stepping in, not as a celebrity flexing power, but as a man who refuses to let her fight alone. Protective without being controlling. Strong without overshadowing her. I love a hero who chooses. And he chooses her. Over image. Over Hollywood. Over comfort.
The push and pull of “run again or stay and be loved” had me holding my breath. I wanted to shake Nikki and hug her at the same time. Because letting someone catch you after a lifetime of running? That is the real leap of faith.
Five stars, zero hesitation. Nikki and Sutton are living rent free in my head and redecorating. If you love small town comfort wrapped around high stakes devotion with a hero who falls quietly but completely, this is your next obsession.
I spent the whole 11 hours 3 minutes dreaming of being in Whispers.
Enter …. Sutton Silvers he is the most adorable of hot messes, and honestly, I related to his "please everyone just leave me alone” energy on a spiritual level. He’s proper famous…. and so deeply burnt out, so naturally he does the only logical thing: hides in Whispers! He’s not looking for romance; quite the opposite actually, he’s just looking for a place where his face isn't on a billboard at every turn. Then he meets Nikki, who couldn't care less about him being fancy and famous…. And that promptly lights the fire in his big burnt out heart.
Sutton isn’t a big in your face flashy and full of drama. It is a quiet creep straight into your soul. It’s the kind of book that feels like a snuggly warm weighted blanket on a cold day, and what more could you want!
Sutton sees Nikki’s heart… he knows that he can’t win her by doing the “man thing” and trying to force his way in to fix everything, or some big over the top grand gesture…. Hes just there. He’s the calm peaceful bay while she’s navigating a storm. Also, the man is literally allergic to bees, so naturally he becomes fully invested in beekeeping because it’s important to Nikki. If risking a life threatening allergic reaction doesn’t just scream "he falls harder," I don’t know what does.
Now let’s talk about the audiobook narration… Duncan Cole sounds so emotionally exhausted and tender voicing Sutton, I couldn’t do anything else while I listened. That GROWL…… Lordy! That GROWL! Duncan that should be illegal my good sir! I had a full blown crash out listening to this. June DeBorahae gives a wonderful performance as Nikki as well.
Sutton is without a doubt a slow-burn, low-stress, five-star hug of a story. It’s just two people in a small town slowly deciding that being known by one person is better than being famous to everyone else.
Tropes: • Small-town romance • Celebrity hiding from fame • Slow burn • Found family • Quiet yearning • Low angst, high comfort • He falls first & hard

This is another great book from Samantha Skye. We have another romance blossoming in the small town of Whispers this time between Hollywood movie star and heart throb Sutton Silvers and Nikki/Charlotte who is now a waitress, but is really the daughter to a wealthy oil tycoon. Nikki(who was Charlotte in her old life)..she is hiding in the town of Whispers with her brother James(real name Preston). They are running from a threat a woman who wants them gone. They are living a quiet simple life, they are financially struggling, she works in the Diner and James is in school. But they have to make the best of what they have, then she catches the eye of SUTTON.Sutton is also hiding from his glamorous life, the craziness of L.A. and the Paparazzi he needs the break,he isn't happy and feels he has no control over his own life anymore. He is staying with his Brother Sawyer and the waitress in the Diner captivates him. Nikki is so brave going from riches to rags in a heartbeat to protect her brother and so she is very cautious even with Sutton at first. Sutton is all kinds of swoon..he just says all the right things all of the time..he treats James like he is his own little brother, and becomes so protective of Nikki. The lengths he goes to just to ensure Nikki and James remain hidden and safe, made my heart flutter he goes above and beyond. They earn eachothers trust and soon lust and passion take over and they give into their obvious attraction...burning up the bedroom and setting fire to the sheets.!! But Nikki's past is always there lingering in the background threatening to ruin everything they are building together...and it might be Sutton's lifestyle that could expose them. Narration to this story is by June Deborahae and Duncan Cole is purely Amazing, they carry this story beautifully.Portraying Sutton and Nikki with great emotion and they do some great accents.I thoroughly enjoyed listening to them both. Samantha Skye's writing was compelling and the storyline was exciting and I enjoyed it,there were some surprises too, for me any way. Sutton is a fabulous Audiobook full of spice, emotion, drama and romance. Loved it. 5 stars.

Both Sutton and Nikki are hiding in Whispers from their past lives, but for completely different reasons. Sutton Silvers is the biggest actor in Hollywood and after finding himself in one too many scandals, he finds himself hiding out in Whispers with his brother Sawyer as he figures out what to do next. Nikki is a young woman on the run with her little brother from her abusive stepmother. Raised in the elite social circles of Manhattan and their father a workaholic, he couldn't see what his wife was doing to his children, so they changed their names and with no money they found their way to Whispers. Sutton starts spending his time at the local diner for a good meal and time out of the house. While some people in town knows who he is they would never oust him and anyone who comes in looking for answers get turned the other way by townsfolk all over, especially at the diner. Nikki and Sutton become acquaintances, but the more time Sutton spends observing Nikki and the little brother everyone assumes is her son, the more he has questions. He is intrigued by her tenacity and finds her intelligent and quirky, while Nikki is just as intrigued by Sutton but is convinced he would never be interested in her. The more time they spend together, the more Sutton becomes protective of them and wants to help them however he can. Suspicious at first, she finds his interest disingenuous but he shows up for them time and again when they most need it, and their attraction toward one another starts to grow. Their love carries them through their pain as they reveal more and more of themselves to each other, and when things start to go array and Sutton is ousted, he will do everything in his power to ensure the woman he loves remains safe from her past. I loved their clear and genuine devotion for each other and how they built a family together and made something beautiful out of the rubble that their pasts left them in. The narration on this was phenomenal. Duncan Cole was such an amazing Sutton and really brought to life the depth this character has with his performance. And June, oh how I love June! Somehow every time I hear her on a title she sucks me into the story and I can't seem to let it go. Both did fantastic work!
Samantha Skye does not disappoint. Sutton is the perfect blend of heat, heart, and high stakes emotion. This is everything I love about the Whispers series, delivered with a punch that feels uniquely his.
Sutton is not lurking in the shadows; he is the spotlight. A guarded, wildly charismatic movie star carrying more weight than the world ever sees. And when his orbit collides with Nikki, a small town waitress with a past she has been running from, the chemistry does not spark, it erupts. Their dynamic is classic Skye: strong fmcs, simmering tension, and a connection that feels inevitable from the second their eyes meet.
What really elevates this book is how it deepens the entire Whispers world. The danger feels real, the emotional stakes are high, and the romance unfolds with that perfect mix of vulnerability and intensity. Nikki’s arc is one of the most satisfying in the series. Watching her open up, trust, and finally choose something just for herself is incredibly rewarding.
There is also a subtle Cinderella thread woven through their story: Sutton, the billionaire movie star hiding from media. Nikki, a diner waitress hiding from her family. Two people each hiding from their own lives, finding something explosive and healing in each other. And let us be honest these two get on like gasoline on a bonfire. Suttons dirty mouth alone could power a small city, and the way he talks her through it is peak MMC energy.
By book five, it is clear Samantha Skye knows exactly what her readers crave: tension, tenderness, danger, and a hero worth falling for. Sutton delivers all of that and more.
A strong, addictive addition to the series and one that left me eager for whatever comes next in the world of Whispers.
This audiobook is narrated by Jane DeBorahae and Duncan Cole. I do not recall hearing either narrator before, but this performance was anything but forgettable. They brought the story to life beautifully, and I am genuinely looking forward to hearing more from them.

SAMANTHA WHYYYYY??? Why didn’t you warn me to NOT start reading this book as soon as I downloaded it? Because, instead, I started reading it right away, on a work night. Then, couldn’t put it down. Then, couldn’t get to sleep. Then, couldn’t focus at work the next day. Then, started reading it as soon as I got home and stayed up until I finally finished it. I LITERALLY COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN WITHOUT PAIN. Most books don’t hit that mark until about 75%, but Samantha had me at about 10%.
As usual, the character development is spotless. Even though I really have nothing in common and therefore no real point of reference with either main character, I was immediately drawn into their world completely. Sutton, the Hollywood star, hiding out in Whispers, facing the press and greed like most of us never will. Nikki, the single mom, also hiding out in Whispers, running from a past so different than most of us will have had. Even so, the descriptions and feelings were so real, I immediately was able to relate to both of them. But much of their pain and struggles are similar to what we all face – who do we trust, who has our best interest at heart, WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO TODAY? They are so different and yet so alike. Both looking for a life so far and so different from where they have come, not knowing exactly what that looks like but still having so much courage to keep looking until they find it.
As usual, the story is so engaging and so unpredictable. Just when I think I have figured something out, Samantha completely blows it out of the water. I must admit, there was maybe ONE thing I figured out, but as it turns out, I only had it about 15% correct (as was intended, I’m sure).
Each time I read a new book from Whispers, I declared it to be my favorite. Each time, I think it cannot be topped. Each time, I am wrong. Sutton is definitely the best. I do not know how it can ever be beat. But I know Samantha will be able to do that with Griffin. I only have to wait……
