A mysterious accident sets the scene for scandal at an authors retreat hosted at Liz Eckardt’s inn.
A blustery March wind is blowing through Pleasant Creek, Indiana, but Liz Eckardt keeps the Olde Mansion Inn warm for her latest guests from the Master Writers Cooperative, an online critique and support group. Before anyone arrives, though, a mysterious woman is found unconscious at the bottom of the staircase.
While the unnamed guest recuperates in the hospital, Liz and best-selling thriller author Logan Tracy do their best to keep the inn's guests in line. But the pace is interrupted by conflict among the characters. Someone's responsible for plotting the accident and the other odd goings-on at the inn, but who's wielding the poisonous pen? Liz will need every trick in the book if she's to uncover who's telling the truth and who's telling tales, before anyone else is sentenced to death.
This clever whodunit from Annie’s Amish Inn Mysteries series is a must-read for fans of cozy mysteries, Amish life, female friendships, and light romance.

This is a fun book, I enjoy reading this series. Not serious fiction, once in awhile I need some light reading, I have finished several dark books. One lady orders these books, all three ladies read them. The book takes place in Pleasant Creek, Indiana, during March. Indiana, during this month, can turn cold and snowy, than beautiful spring weather. Liz Eckardt is waiting for four guests at her bed and breakfast. These are writers from Kansas, New Hampshire, Louisiana and Florida. These are some of the members of the Master Writers Cooperation. The four are having a writer's conference, reading, reviewing, criticizing, giving advice on each other's writing. This is their first face to face meeting. The four have communicated by texting on computer. Liz finds out people are not always who them seem to be.
Early that morning when Liz was having coffee with a friend, she gets a call from her young housekeeper, Sarah, a daughter-in-law of Amish cousin Miriam. A lady has fallen down the stairs and is unconscious. An ambulance has been called. Liz rushes home. She doesn't know who the woman is. She is a stranger. Police are called. Possibly a crime!
The writers are beginning to arrive. The first is Francie Sloan who writes for children, stories of elves and fairies. She is a different person. Next comes Logan Tracy, a handsome older man,a well known mystery writer. Third is a pretty young woman, Camille, who is a beginning writer, and hoping to do well in a career she loves. Then Dorn, a sweet lady, who writes romance books and is also well known, popular writer. Dorn is so much different than her pictures, older, unattractive, harsh voiced, criticizing everyone and everything around her.
Liz's good friend, Sadie and Logan are attracted to each other. The writers, to Liz, are so much different than she expected. She doesn't know what to think. They don't seem to get along with each other, especially Dorn. The well known writers seem to look down on the others.
Nobody knows who the lady in the hospital can be. She is still unconscious. Police feel she had been pushed down the stairs. Liz worries about the lady and about whether her beautiful bed-and- breakfast would get a bad name because of what happened. Is the Olde Mansion Inn unsafe?
Book Clubbedis an exciting mystery written by K. D. McCrite in the Amish Inn Mystery series. This author has brought to life the inner workings of a writers retreat. When Liz Eckardt agrees to host an online writing support group she doesn't expect an unknown person to be injured in her inn. This woman is unrecognizable and unconscious which adds to the mystery. Who would hurt this lady and why. With the four authors critiquing each other's writing style Liz picks up on clues that one of them may be an imposter. The characters within this story have many things to hide which really adds drama and suspense. When clues start falling into place Liz is attacked and left for dead.
I was not given a complimentary copy of this book to read and review. I was not approached to post a favorable response and all opinions are my own. I have rated this story with five stars for meeting my expectations of a wonderful story that I can highly recommend to others.
Book #20 in the Amish Inn Mysteries series. Involving Liz and some of the Material Girls are at it again. The Old Mansion Inn is the scene of the crime, but with a mysterious twist, who is the person they found? Where was everyone when it happened? Liz definitely has her hands full with an eccentric group of writers holding a retreat. Finding each with their own idiosyncrasies but were they who they really showing who they really were? Or were some not as they seemed at all? Interesting as always, intriguing to following. Spunky Material girls of course!
This was the first of the Amish Inn Mystery books I ever saw. Not the first one I read, but the title appealed to me and I felt the urge to check out the series. So glad I did. I love this series. I don’t know what I will do when I finish reading them all.
