Ayanna Sky lives and breathes music. A talented violinist on the verge of graduating from the prestigious Royal Academy of Music, her dream is to become a soloist for the London Symphony Orchestra. Love is the last thing on her mind, until she meets Lohan Andilet, a charming and successful marketing executive, heir to a fortune. Amidst a shared passion for music, an unexpected love blossoms between them, defying society's expectations.

However, their different worlds threaten to tear them apart. Ayanna's mother, a cleaner at Lohan's father's company, fears her daughter will be hurt by the Andilet family's wealth and influence. In turn, Lohan's controlling father vehemently disapproves of his son's involvement with the daughter of a "commoner." Torn between a love that defies conventions and the weight of family expectations, they find themselves at a crossroads: succumb to the pressure and sacrifice their happiness, or fight for a love that could change their lives forever?

“They say that if you make a wish and blow on a dandelion, your wish will come true.”
“Then, I wish for you, Aya,” Lohan whispered, blowing on the delicate flower.

But will a simple wish be enough to defy fate and unite two worlds so different?

first of all i just want to say thank you to the author for this arc !!

however this is not going to be a good review unfortunately, i do think the story/characters could’ve had potential but it was not executed well at all and i really did not enjoy it, and i have a lot to say about it

it’s set in london with characters who are english/british but is very un-british - they do not talk like british people or really talk how people talk at all, it’s very forced and script like. they also describe places as being ‘a few blocks away’ ?? which is not ever said in the uk, maybe is more written for a non-british audience because it felt like a lot of generic or known british things were really being described to an unnecessary level. i have found out that the author is brazilian and this is her first english language book so that might be why and i don’t want to pick on her for that at all when im assuming english is not her first language, however i think more research should’ve been done - there was a lot of use of outdated/old sounding british language or just words that people in their twenties wouldn’t use like a 22 year old girl wouldn’t use ‘bloke’ at all really but it was used every time instead of boy or guy, there was also a lot of use of words like blimey, phrases like not on your nelly, constantly describing a phone as a mobile etc just not generally used these days. feels like she googled british phrases but they aren’t ones typically used anymore. as someone who lives in london though it was really hard to read because i just know it’s very unrealistic

there were also a lot of times where it read as if the author had discovered a new word because it was suddenly used about 10 times in that chapter lol, it did again make it a little bit of a hard read.

not a spoiler but there was a point in the book when the barbican centre was mentioned and then it was described word for word with the wikipedia description😭😭 again just reads very unnatural. also constantly saying ‘the company’ where typically you would say ‘work’ or ‘the office’ felt sooo unnatural

similarly, it’s very unnatural when the characters are constantly calling their parents by mrs sky/mr andilet while also just calling them mum and dad ?? and a lot of very formal language for both characters making them seem very posh despite ayanna constantly being described as poor?

there’s also a lot of continuity issues, like something happened on a saturday but then it was the next morning and that was also a saturday?? and at another point ayanna was saying she only had half an hour until she was picked up and her friend told her to start her makeup but then 2 pages later she told her mum her makeup took her an hour. it’s a dual pov book however at one point i think the author thought she was in ayanna’s pov but it was in lohan’s, but it said ‘lohan and i’ so i was confused for a second but then the whole rest of the chapter it was clearly from lohan’s pov, i really don’t know how no one picked up on this in the editing process. also both ayanna’s mum and nan are mrs sky but her nan is her mums mum and they were both married so im confused

there’s a lot of really unnecessary moments throughout that add nothing to the plot and could make the book so much shorter if they were removed

also sooo many slightly toxic comments about food throughout which were completely unnecessary!!! there was a whole paragraph where she judged a customer for ordering hot chocolate and chocolate cake ??? super super unnecessary and again added absolutely nothing to the plot

there’s also far too many exclamation marks, and i do love an exclamation mark but omg it was far too much and in speech when really not needed it just makes them seem way over excited for things that they just wouldn’t be. i’ve never noticed a book use too many exclamation marks but it was honestly jarring😭😭

some moments do also feel very ai but i don’t want to accuse the author of anything like that !! that’s just how it read to me

some people may enjoy this book but unfortunately it really was not for me and i wouldn’t recommend wasting your time at all. the characters were annoying and their story was not executed well at all which made me just not care about their relationship at alllllll

Let me just say… I absolutely love this book! I couldn’t stop reading and found myself flying through the pages.

Quick summary (without spoilers)

Dandelion is a charming, heartwarming story that completely swept me away. This slow-burn, strangers-to-lovers romance follows two people who are each chasing their dreams—and just happen to stumble into each other’s hearts along the way.

Main Characters (dual POV):

We meet Ayanna, a free-spirited violinist bursting with joy and positivity. Her passion for music is infectious, and her personality truly shines on every page (not to mention her hilarious best friend who made me laugh out loud more than once!).

And then there’s Lohan, a true gentleman with a rebellious streak when it comes to family expectations.

I also love the author’s joyful, flowing writing style which made this such a cozy and calming read. I found myself smiling constantly and feeling genuinely giddy as I read.

“Poetry had never been my thing, I thought with a smile. But I could recite the most beautiful verses to Aya if she gave me the chance.” – Lohan

If you love books that make you smile on nearly every page and leave you with a full heart, you will love this one.

História linda e emocionante de dois jovens de classe sociais diferente lutando para ficar juntos.
Nesse livro, o amor e as dificuldades surgiram juntos, já que os pais do rapaz não aceitam que o filho único se envolva com a filha da faxineira da empresa.
Recomendo!

ARC Review - Thank you Helen Soares!
Dandelion is a heartwarming, soft romance about young love, social barriers, and finding your voice in a world that tries to silence it.

Told in dual POV, this story follows Ayanna, a talented violinist with a scholarship to the prestigious Royal Academy of Music, and Lohan, the sweet and utterly smitten son of a billionaire who works as a marketing executive for the family business. From their first interaction, you can feel the pull between them, even as the world around them tries to tear it apart.

The class difference is woven into the background tension of the story without ever overpowering the romance. Lohan is truly a golden-hearted love interest—kind, patient, and clearly head over heels. Ayanna is quiet, thoughtful, and driven, especially when it comes to her music and caring for her family. Their connection feels genuine and tender.

The spice is on the mild side (🌶️🌶️🌶️), perfect for readers easing into the romance genre or those who enjoy sweet stories with a little heat. The writing flows easily, making this a great pick for anyone after a light, emotionally satisfying read.

A lovely debut for fans of cutesy, heartfelt love stories with just enough tension to keep the pages turning.

I really enjoyed the story; it has good main characters, a good plot, and an adequate pace. The tropes are well delivered, and the written style made it a little hard to read sometimes, but I kept in mind that this is a debut book. Overall, I couldn't find anything big that impacted my review and opinion negatively.

The main characters are very very very lovable and honest; they had good chemistry and banter, the family drama added angst to their story, but I was happy seeing how they went over the hardships.

I am curious to see more works of the author, I wish you all the best, and you already have a fan in me!

Thank you so much @authorhelensoares for the opportunity of being an ARC.

The impulsive urge this book gave me to run outside and go dandelion hunting is unnerving. Thanks to the author for an arc copy in exchange for an honest review 𓇢𓆸

If you're a hopeless romantics who still wishes on falling stars, candles, and or course, dandelions, wait no more, this book is for you.

Lohan and Aya brought back yearning and GOING AFTER WHAT YOU WANT I mean, a meet cute where they (literally) stumble into each other, they can't stop thinking about each other, and then Lohan takes time to seek and ask her out?? He's so respectful and sweet and there's COMMUNICATION and then more dates so they get to know each other better. Honestly I was just here squealing and kicking my feet.

They kinda have a forbidden relationship from being in different social classes and Lohan struggles with living up to his parent's expectations and he's also a bit of a people pleaser so he has to grow into his own skin. Aya is so sweet and ambitious, music is her entire world and she dreams of performing as a soloist. She also cares so much for her family. Love a cute mother-daughter (and grandmother) dynamic. When she was freaking out about what to wear and her mum swooped in to help 🥺

I love a dose of vunerability Lohan and Aya both hit an all time low at points and I think it's so important and soulwarming in both the romantic side in opening up but also Lohan with his best friend Levi who know each other so well they can tell whenever something is up without having to say anything, and Aya just has a wonderful girlhood connection with Pandora and her mum.

Some of the dialogue and expression was a little jarring but the prose was just beautiful and can we talk about the chapter headings art AND THE QUOTES. I love me some quotes.
