Holy cannoli Ever Bound was absolute chaos! Things pick up right where we left off in Ever Marked, and just don’t stop.
I feel like so much happened in such a short amount of time that there definitely could have been a third book BUT I still had a great time and I’m so sad to see Ever and her men go ☹️

Alright, so this second part of the duet does shred light as to the main heroin's abilities and I did like the secluded community that was created to protect the very few surviving species.
Unfortunately, the rest was a bit uneventful and the relationship did not take any genuine turn. There was very little background on the MMCs and it did take away from the overall experience. Sadly, this did go downhill for me, but I am sure other readers would enjoy the story.

I give this book a reluctant three stars.
I feel like the author started off pretty good with the first book, showing a good amount of potential for a series or at least a trilogy. Especially with the whole mimic storyline.
But unfortunately, I feel like she gave up for some reason and phoned it in. Something that should’ve been at least a trilogy or more became a duet. And unfortunately, a boring one at that. It didn’t deliver at all on the plot and storyline that we were supposed to get and that the story deserved.
The humor was on point and the characters were likable, but that’s the only thing that was enjoyable about this book and duet.
I’m not sure why the author gave up on the story and the duet. I really feel like it had so much more potential with the whole mimic and mimic slave trade storyline really should’ve been used way more and have been more exciting. Same goes for the mimic hidden village.
I feel like the author took the easy and lazy route and that just ruined it.

Chaotic but fun. The plot in this was all over the place (evil exes, kidnapping, angry mobs, long lost family members) it was a lot and the pacing felt random, but we are moving so fast I was still having a good time. Arson is a favorite, I love a smitten psycho. I would absolutely read more books set in Mercy Ridge.

This duet was simply amazing! It was such a fun and refreshing read! I absolutely loved all the guys, but Arson had my heart! He was the lovable psycho that I didn't know I needed! Definitely need more MMC's like him in my life!

What a great finish to this duet! picking up immediately after the ‘kidnapping’ in the last book, all is not what it seems there and it might actually lead to answers our FMC has been searching for 😄 although the sanctum is not without its own flaws 😳
There’s some shocking revelations in regard to Evers family/lineage and what it now means for her….it definitely sends your heart one way then the other 💓 the spice also builds in this book 🌶️🔥
Their relationship as a harem really strengthens in this one as they come together to protect Ever as their centre and also each other when it appears those who were friends may indeed be foes 😣😣

First book was better
I loved the first book and still love the characters but this book felt rushed and a little all over the place. There were a few different storylines that each could have held the whole book on their own. Instead they were all thrown in without any of them being developed and it just lost some of the magic by doing so. I also feel the development of the characters and their relationships ended in book one instead of continuing to grow and pull you in more. If this had been separated into two books and developed one plot line at a time and continued the character and relationship development to more depth from book one it would have been amazing. Sadly, it was just rushed and underdeveloped, including the underdevelopment of side characters and little nuggets of storyline that really deserved a lot more than a bare mention. Kinda bummed as I had been waiting for it to come out and even just reread book one because I enjoyed it enough to do so.

THE GUYS!!!! ARSON IS MY FAVORITE, SORRY. If you need a little reminder... Ledger is the classic protective alpha, but not in an overdone way. He is intense, territorial, and scary at times (never to the group), but the way he grounds himself in Ever, even when he is close to losing control, makes him feel real. Bellamy is chaos and charm. He uses sarcasm to cover how deeply he feels, but it is clear how much he cares. And not just about Ever. He is there for the others too. He is the glue, the most self-aware of the group, and his presence holds everything together. Myles is the softest of the bunch, but he never gets overshadowed. He is thoughtful, quietly strong, and the one who notices everything. His moments with Ever often hit the hardest emotionally, because his love does not need to be loud to be powerful. Arson is exactly what you would expect. Unpredictable and darkly funny, but also more than that. He has one of the most memorable arcs in the book, because when he does show that he cares, it feels earned. He is not trying to play the hero, but he always shows up when it matters.

This book tried to do TOO MUCH at once. Each plotline had the potential to be GOOD, but cramming them all together left everything feeling unfinished. The pacing felt off, and the world-building that made the first book so strong just wasn't there this time. The characters and relationships didn’t really evolve, and it felt like their character arc and development stopped at the end of book one. There were a lot of missed opportunities. RUSHED. I am going to forget this, I know it. In a few months, I would probably be able to read it for the first time again.

I wish "Ever Bound" wasn't the ending to Ever's duet, because I am absolutely not ready to say goodbye to these characters, but alas... I already know I'll be reading these books again in the future when I need something to bring me joy and laughter, and I sincerely hope there will be more books in this world in the future. I'm not only hoping for Sophie's story, or Kiara's, but I would give my left kidney for the story of Ledger's mom...
That being said, we are here to review 'Ever Bound', and there is something to be said about a gamer girl meeting a bunch of guys with questionable morals and watch them conquer the world together, one person at a time. This second book starts off right where book one ended, and I truly love where the story takes us from there. Some twists in the story were predictable, others left me with open mouth. But whenever I think about this duet, I'll always remember Arson first and foremost, even though Bellamy and Ledger have their own red flags you can only love in fictional boyfriends. I'm pretty sure almost every single quote I highlighted is plucked from Arson's mind. He's scary, weird and hilarious, but wouldn't we all secretly want a man whose willing to burn the world as long as it makes you happy?

So the book as a whole doesn't seem to have much of a base plot to it. Things just kind of keep happening in the moment, so Ever and her mates deal with things as they come. Later in the book, it's apparent that things aren't QUITE as random as they seemed. There's still not a lot to talk about, though.
The characters, however? There's some stuff to be said about them. Arson is still my favourite of the bunch. As I mentioned in my previous review, he's basically a stabby, unhinged golden retriever with a gooey cinnamon roll center just for Ever. Myles is a sweetie (and when he gets confident and bossy? Yes, please!). Ledge is a fantastic protector who's the cutest when feeding his mate. Bell seems normal enough, but he does let the crazy out sometimes.
There were quite a few sentences / paragraphs I highlighted on this ebook that made me laugh. I've already recommended this duet to my friend, and I'll be recommending it again in the future.

The first 40% was slow to me sadly. after that a lot of the story picked up. I felt like a bit of this was filler so it wasn't as enjoyable as book 1.
The last 20% felt like where most of the story was. Many things fell into place and made it worthwhile.
The guys weren't as good as they were in book 1 either, sadly. I feel like Bell never got his chance to shine which is a pity and there was next to no Myles shyness which was my favourite.
Overall, this was a worthwhile read but slow at times for me.

This was such a fun duet to read. It was just a nice, lovely easy read and I really enjoyed it. 5⭐️ because I’ve been in a book slump and I actually enjoyed reading this 🥰
Arson is everything you’d want in a mate and if I had to choose only one mmc for Ever (or myself) it would 100% be him 😍

Well that was alot going on without alot of development. And oh my god I saw was some bits of immaturity in book 1 but this book felt so childish. Aaah book 1 was alot better shouldn't have expected much.

Oh, Adam.
I stumbled upon this series by chance while going down a kindle book rabbit hole. You know the ones where you start looking at free books and it leads to you clicking on suggested titles and then you click on more and more and suddenly you’re twenty different genres and topics from where you started? I’m pretty sure my start was somewhere along the hockey romance or billionaire’s direction. Am I mad about? Definitely not. I love a good paranormal romance. Sometimes you come across some that are… heavily unedited or full of plot holes. This series was not one of them. This was probably my favorite PR read of this entire year. The characters were engaging, and interesting, and far from boring. Honestly, you know that saying about how dark romance readers always fall for the villains because they will burn down the world for their partner? I’m happy to report that it’s true. And I want an Arson of my own. How on Earth a sociopathic stalker shadow demon has the playful personality of a golden retriever and a toddler thrown together with a tiny sliiiiight (maaaaaybe more than) propensity for violence has been born into existence has left me exceedingly happy. The way the relationships between everyone evolved was authentic, and it’s something I can appreciate. And I f*cking love that she was not only a gamer herself, but also an engineer. There’s definitely a market for more representation of women in the STEM/Tech fields in literature. (Ali Hazelwood does a good job of that too in her books). What this all boils down to is that this book is an absolute treasure mine of humor and action and spice, and others should definitely take the time to read it. (Also maaaybe kinda hoping in the future the author might put out an extended epilogue or something because I’d kill to see how Arson acts as a dad with a house full of kids. I can just image the way Bellamy and Myles would be teaching them gaming/tech-y things. Future generations of lovable stalkers to teach ya know. I have a feeling that Arson would be the fun dad who helps the kids play pranks on everyone but especially Ledger. Can’t you just see Ledger trying to make breakfast for their brood and his mate/bond mates and the next thing you know he’s covered head to toe in a flour bomb? Talk about some ruined pancakes! I doubt it’ll actually happen, but a girl can hope, right?) On a last note; every time I think of the Adam thing, I giggle. Does that make me a sociopath too?

🎮🖤 Game on, emotions wrecked, and I regret nothing. 🖤🎮
I wish I wasn’t writing a review for the end of this duet, because I’m so not ready to say goodbye to Ever and her wonderfully chaotic men. Ever Bound is the perfect, punchy conclusion to the Ever Duet, and it delivers everything I was craving after the rollercoaster that was book one.
From laugh-out-loud banter to high stakes chaos, this story blends heart, humor, and holy hell moments with shocking ease. Watching a gamer girl team up with morally questionable men and take on the world one insane encounter at a time? ICONIC. If you told me this cast of characters would have me both cackling and clutching my heart, I wouldn’t have believed you until now.
Let’s talk about Arson for a second. Unhinged shadow daddy with a side of danger and a hint of emotional complexity? Yes, please. He remains the most deliciously intense character I’ve read in a while. And while Bellamy and Ledger are carrying their own walking red flags, they’re the kind you only want in fictional men. Each one brings something vital to Ever’s life and it’s genuinely satisfying to see how well they fit together as chaotic and complicated as that puzzle may be.
This book shines in unexpected places too. Bellamy’s backstory and his community? Deep, nuanced, and such a powerful reminder that there’s light and dark in every world real or virtual. The message about fear, choice, and freedom hit home in a beautiful way without feeling heavy handed.
Also… the Adam arc?? I won’t spoil it, but I was wheezing. Absolute gold.
Watching Ever and her boys return to the real world and navigate the madness of Mercy Ridge had me glued to the pages. It’s surreal, intense, and brilliantly executed.
And even though the duet is technically wrapped, J. Kearston definitely left a backdoor open into this wild universe and I will be first in line if (WHEN??) we get more.

I wish I wasn’t writing a review for the end of this duet, because I’m so not ready to say goodbye to Ever and her wonderfully chaotic men. Ever Bound is the perfect, punchy conclusion to the Ever Duet, and it delivers everything I was craving after the rollercoaster that was book one.
From laugh-out-loud banter to high stakes chaos, this story blends heart, humor, and holy hell moments with shocking ease. Watching a gamer girl team up with morally questionable men and take on the world one insane encounter at a time? ICONIC. If you told me this cast of characters would have me both cackling and clutching my heart, I wouldn’t have believed you until now.
Let’s talk about Arson for a second. Unhinged shadow daddy with a side of danger and a hint of emotional complexity? Yes, please. He remains the most deliciously intense character I’ve read in a while. And while Bellamy and Ledger are carrying their own walking red flags, they’re the kind you only want in fictional men. Each one brings something vital to Ever’s life and it’s genuinely satisfying to see how well they fit together as chaotic and complicated as that puzzle may be.
This book shines in unexpected places too. Bellamy’s backstory and his community? Deep, nuanced, and such a powerful reminder that there’s light and dark in every world real or virtual. The message about fear, choice, and freedom hit home in a beautiful way without feeling heavy handed.
Also… the Adam arc?? I won’t spoil it, but I was wheezing. Absolute gold.
Watching Ever and her boys return to the real world and navigate the madness of Mercy Ridge had me glued to the pages. It’s surreal, intense, and brilliantly executed.
And even though the duet is technically wrapped, J. Kearston definitely left a backdoor open into this wild universe and I will be first in line if (WHEN??) we get more.

Why is it only a duet?! I want more sooo badly. I loved this series, world, and the characters in it.
We start right where 1 ends, with Ever and Bellamy(love his name, so much) being kidnapped. Ever of course freaks out upon waking, but I’m so proud of the way she handled it. Get em girl. While Ever and Bell navigate the pros and cons of the compound Bellamy lived in, and how it runs, along with some of the secrets it holds, her other mates are on a warpath to get them back. And we get to see just what measures they will take to do that.
This book, at least in the beginning, focuses a lot more on Ever and Bellamy’s bond, and its progression. Which makes sense because he’s the newest and hasn’t had as much time. There’s so much that happens in this book though, that it’s hard to leave out spoilers. But when they leave, with an extra in tow, it’s not quite on good terms. Even though Bellamy reassures Ever that she is where he wants to be, we see Ever struggle with what he’s giving up leaving with her.
Myles is still my favorite, but Arson, Bellamy, and Ledger all have special places in my heart for different reasons. I loved watching adorable and shy Myles open up and grow in his relationship with Ever. Also watching Arson slowly accept the other guys, in his own special, stabby, but also pretty comedic way. Ledger and his protective energy always bring that safe feeling, and Bellamy seems to remind Ever that there is a balance between guarded and being able to relax. The men all bring perfect balance to Ever and her life. And I couldn’t be happier that they all got their happily Ever after. Some even more so than I hoped. The ending was adorable, sweet, heartwarming, and honestly kind of perfect. That’s not to say I wanted it to end. However it couldn’t have been done any better.

4-4.5 stars rounding up for sake of good reads doesn’t do halfsies
The conclusion to Ever and her mate’s story after that cliffhanger begins right where we left off after the kidnapping.
Pros: this book is lighthearted and doesn’t get bogged down by miscommunication tropes that occur frequently in books. Like I understand we need conflict but can it be something else that doesn’t require a 5 minute conversation to resolve?
Other pros include more information about where Bellamy comes from and some background on mimics. I also loved the guys trying to get along because they’re all alpha males and sharing is caring
Cons: I wish we had more information on Ever’s powers and how they work. We had a training arc but it was left open. We don’t know the extent of her powers or Bellamy’s and why they work differently.
I wanted more development of the antagonist, I was expecting Ledger’s dad to be the big bad and he dies anticlimactically.
I also wanted more world building like are there other compounds of underground mimics? Is mercy ridge the only mystic safe city? Are necromancers a mystic or something else? Are there evil variants of mystics like d and d alignment charts?
Basically my nitpicks could be solved if this series was extended to flesh out things more. It all just wrapped up so quickly and neatly and I wanted more to keep reading!
Maybe there will be other Mystic books that answer these questions, so my review is subject to change if other books come out

I absolutely adored the first book in this series and had been constantly checking in for the follow-up ever since. This was a good conclusion to the duet and I loved the world built in Mercy Ridge. Fingers crossed we get more from this world. The tease with Vic would be cruel if not.
This book has a lot of the same charm as the first. Ledger is still an alpha daddy. Bellamy the slightly mysterious, perfect best-friend to lover. Myles is still a charming, perfectly enraptured nerdy man. And my personal fav, Arson is still an obsessed, murder puppy. Hard to go wrong. I also really, really enjoy Ever as the FMC. She is so well-rounded and endearing, you can't help but route for her.
One of my favorite things about this series is the clear voice of each character. Even the side characters were built out pretty well, which doesn't always happen in this particular genre. Hell, it doesn't happen all that much in other genres either. The author also has such a fun sense of humor, and is really talented at meshing it to fit into each character.
My personal reasoning for not rating higher is solely due to pacing. I feel like some parts of the book were actually in the wrong spot? Like midway through it was reading as though it was the epilogue which threw me off. It was still a great read, just didn't allow for as fluid of a reading experience.
This series really is a great read and I hope others will give it a go!

Ever is adjusting to 4 fated mates, trying to hide what her magic is, and working on a contract to sell her new video game, when she is kidnapped by Bellamy’s people that thought he was in trouble. As she wakes up in the compound, she starts learning things, about her past her parents, and how to use her powers. as Ever is at the compound she realizes that no matter what you choose to hide or stand there will be good and bad in either element. When Ledger, Myles and Arson arrive to rescue her Bellamy makes the decision to leave and go with Ever and the other men, they offer to take anyone who wants to go with them to Mercy Ridge. When they go to the gas station to talk with the owner, Oscar who seems to hold answer to a lot of questions, Ledger comes face to face to his father the shocking event that occurs is some ways yeah! And in some ways Oh no! Then Ever is found out what she is and the result of that admission what will happens now? The gift of a place to hide and to work on the project without interruption, is it safety or another trap? Who is the man in the locked room? What is Dane and what is his real hidden agenda? Does anyone know what happens to the reanimated bodies of a necromancer when he dies? Fantastic story of crazy men changing for their fated mate, loved all their idiosyncrasy.

Absolutely LOVED this book
The Mystics of Mercy Ridge is quickly becoming a favorite series of mine! I loved the first book, and the second book in this series was absolutely FANTASTIC! I really love Ever and her mates. Even though I believe the story for Ever and her men is over, I believe there are so many more stories within this world that can be told.
This book picks up right where book 1 ended with Ever being captured and taken away. Except she is taken along with Bellamy and wakes up in the Mimic compound. Bell’s men thought they were “rescuing” them since they didn’t know that he was ok, and her other men fight to get inside to save her. Now inside the compound, she must learn to use her mimic abilities but she’s having a hard time learning it.
Once they leave the compound and head back to Mystic Ridge (with a tagalong – Kiara), all sorts of craziness happens (especially with her ex – that part was HILARIOUS), and she and Bell get outed as mimic’s and start getting attacked by the townsfolks. They need to get out of town, and they accept Damian’s help to go stay at his place. Except, things go from bad to “Oh Hell No” really quickly. Can Ever and her mates escape the new issue that is terrorizing them?
This is definitely a book (or series) that I would recommend! Loved every minute of this story!

I loved Ever Bound so freaking much. It 100% delivered on the same banter, witty humor, "I'm not crying, your crying" sweet moments and panty melting spice as the first book but also had "throw your Kindle level" twists and turns I never saw coming with so many brilliant Easter eggs that will have you wanting to do rereads all over again. And for those of you not ready to leave this amazing universe, J Kearston clearly set up that option for future series.
Also I could probably write several pages on my love for Arson but just know that psycho shadow daddy is still the most swoon worthy man alive.
Lastly, two quotes to show you just how much you need to read this book!

I absolutely loved the first book in this duet and have been waiting patiently for this one to be released.
Just… wow. Seriously, if you're looking for a book that's gonna make you laugh out loud, but also keep you totally hooked with an amazing story, this is it.
From the first page, I was completely back into Ever's world with her guys. The storyline is absolutely brilliant—it keeps you guessing at several turns, I did not expect the twist, although I knew there might be something going on with that person. But what really makes this book is the humour, the one-liners and sarcasm - this is what makes this author one of my absolute favourites!
The characters..... its quite a collection in the book and I love the found family they start to become, learning each other quirks, but Arson will always be my favourite, and he has all the best lines! The interactions between the guys are just chef's kiss – full of personality and so, so funny!
Honestly, I couldn't put this book down.
I was hooked from beginning to end and was the perfect ending for Ever and her mates. I highly recommend this duet.

This is the follow on book to Ever Marked (Mystics of Mercy Ridge Book 1) and completes the story for Ever and her men.
The book end with a HEA and great finish. It also leaves the possibility of stories for Kiara, Sophia, Luciana and Seraphina's stories. Some, like Luciana and Seraphina, could/would be based in the past, but I would love to know more about them, their stories, finding their mates.
As you can probably tell from above, I feel all the characters, even the side guests, are all incredibly well written, all feel individual and mostly realistic reactions (for morally grey characters lol).
The spicy scenes are incredibly well done, both the solo events and team practice! Individual kinks that are accepted and not shamed, and written as though they have been well researched before being written.
With how well written both the characters and the storyline are, and the story not dragged out over many books, makes this a 5 star read. The added bonus of incredibly written spice scenes makes it an even better read. If you removed the spice, the story is still incredible and could stand on its own.

Ever Bound by J. Kearston is book two in the Mystics of Mercy Ridge Duology. I will say you have the read the first book before this one as it picks up right after the first one ended. I also thought I couldn’t love these characters any more than I did in the first book but I was proven wrong fairly quickly within the first couple chapters of this book. Also the line of “This gamer girl plays to win”, struck a chord in my own gamer side. But really I loved the characters the most especially Ever; don’t get me wrong the guys are pretty great too but there’s something about her that I just vibed with. Each of the MMC’s brought something that just made me like them and root for them all at the same time. Thank gosh it’s a why choose romance because I don’t think I could have picked a favorite. I enjoyed the twists and turns and quite enjoyed the twist I wasn’t expecting. I thought it straddles the line with humor, steam and plot so incredibly well. I was so satisfied with the conclusion of Ever’s story. I’m hoping for more though from this world! This duology is very high on my recommendation list especially since I couldn’t get enough of this story.
