This didn't really work for me, it had all the things I don't like. A lot of lack of communication, lying, so many secrets, amnesia, lust over intimacy...
The mmc(Dallas) is head of a secret society, and there are rules about who they can marry. The fmc(Lucy) is from a lower family and not a virgin. His dad orchestrated their separation, and her thinking she was saving him married someone else.
Five years later is when the story starts, and she was pushed out a fourth story from a hotel. She has amnesia. He pretends to be her husband, that's when the lying starts. The lies lasted until after 80% of the book. But besides sex, I didn't see much intimacy or love between them. Their relationship in the past was established, we had one scene in the prologue but even that was sex. It was mostly all tell, and not much showing. I wasn't convinced of even Dallas love for her. She was the love of his life that he couldn't move on from, but I just didn't see it. For being king, he came across as very weak. I liked him in the previous books, and wanted better for him. Also, their whole relationship after they got together was all one sided from Dallas.
*mild ow/om drama. He is engaged to be married from someone from The Owed. It was a MOC and nothing happened between them. She does confront the fmc though. There are no scenes between the fmc and her husband, we're just told about what happened.
**TW-There's is also a lot of mention of suicide. The mmc is suicidal, and puts a gun to his head. There are more than one scene where he wants to die.

This is the third book of this series and, I’ll be the first to admit that I’m a fan of this author so my reviews are generally positive, but this is a higher caliber than the previous two. The first two are great stories and we have the usual good time we experience with a Hart book, but this one had a depth the others didn’t. The story was well thought out and the characters carried darkness, and trauma, that wasn’t just mentioned as plot but character development. I’ve read almost all of Hart’s books and this is in the top three for me. I’ve also not read a good amnesia story since Rina Kent’s Lies duet, so it was a treat to see this trope well done.
My only criticism is that Hart needs to get her beta readers or proofreaders back on track. There were a handful of small errors, mainly missing letters. While I don’t mind that too much in independently published, as I mentioned, this book did level up so would have been nice to have the polished finish too. That said, it’s minor, and only a handful, and given the depth in this one, I can’t wait for Connor and Haven.

“Lucy? She’s my wife now, no wedding required.” Like sir… okay 🚩 but also, I’m listening.
I’m still not fully an amnesia trope girl, but this one worked better for me because it’s dual POV so you know what’s going on even if Lucy doesn’t. She wakes up remembering basically nothing, and Dallas steps in “I’m your husband,” but the tension comes from the fact that we know he’s not telling her everything.
And honestly… his reasoning made it messy in a good way. He lives in a whole dark secret society world, and you can feel that he’s constantly weighing how much he can tell her vs. how much he should. So it’s not just lying for the sake of drama, it feels calculated, controlled, and a little unhinged.
No matter if its fiction or a real documentary these cults and/or secret societies are sooooo fucked up, and this one is no different.

I was excited to read about Lucy and Dallas's story. And yes, it was nice for the little heads up to basically keep an open mind for how Lucy acts even with her memory loss as some may wonder how true that could be in real life. But I guess it also means that you'd have to live through that experience to put it to the test. That being said I enjoyed the book, there were some parts where it wasn't as captivating to me as others,but that can happen to me for any book at times, so I can't fault the book or author. Though the bond that happens between Lucy and haven is so sweet, heartfelt even. Though can't wait to read havens story.

Dallas and Lucy
The only reason I didn't give this 3 stars is because the story was really good,but the amount of typos, missing words and misspelling made this very difficult to read. I had to backtrack many times to try to make sentences make sense.Good story but badly needed a proofreader.

Great ending to this series 🫶🏼 was a little repetitive but still very good, loved this series as a whole and Adrien is still my favorite by far ❤️

This series has been such a guilty pleasure of mine! Sad to see it end but a lot of fun to read.
