A second chance stand-alone from small-town romance author Brooke Montgomery about a literary agent from NYC who returns to her Southern hometown and the cowboy high school sweetheart she left behind…
I fell in love with him when I was only fifteen—tall, handsome, and so damn charming—it was impossible not to.
Years later, we got married, and I thought we’d have our perfect happily-ever-after.
But I wanted more than being his wife in a small mountain town, so I chased my dream job seven hundred miles away. I begged him to come with me, but he wouldn't leave his family's ranch.
Walking away and letting him go was the most heartbreaking thing I’ve ever experienced.
But then I meet someone new and he's everything I need—stability, mutual respect, and ambition. He's my second chance at love. When he proposes, it’s a no-brainer to tell him yes.
There's just one little problem…
I'm still married to my high school sweetheart, who refuses to sign the divorce papers.
Even worse? I never told my fiancé.
Now I have to return to Willow Branch Mountain, find my ex, and demand he sign them.
When I show up at his door and he slams it in my face, I know he's not going to make it easy—especially when those old feelings resurface and I’m left making the hardest decision of my life.
Take My Name is book #1 in the Willow Branch Mountain interconnected series. Each one ends in a happily-ever-after with a hook into the next one and although you don’t have to read them in order, you’ll get a better reading experience if you do.
Brooke has been writing romance since 2013 under the USA Today Bestselling author retired pen names: Brooke Cumberland and Kennedy Fox, and now: Brooke Montgomery and Brooke Fox. She loves writing small town romance with big families and happily ever afters! She lives in the frozen tundra of Packer Nation with her husband, teenager daughter and pack of dogs. Brooke's addicted to caffeine, cold winter nights, and afternoon naps. She found her passion for telling stories during winter break one year in grad school—and she hasn’t stopped since.
3.5⭐️ Honestly, this was a good book. I mean, how can you go wrong with a CELIBATE hero hmm? Warren was a great character and so was Maisie but idk why this book took me so long to finish. Like sure, it was sweet (even though a man as pushy and stubborn as Warren irl would piss me off) but it didn’t have me hooked from the get go. Either that or I’m in some sort of weird book slump😂 I think I just wasn’t completely feeling the book/characters overall tbh. Still, would recommend this because it’s TOTALLY safe (PSA for my safety squad girlies) and a nice read imo.
Safety squad: - no OW drama - cheating on a technicality (h is legally still married to the H but they’ve been estranged/separated for 7 years when the book starts. h has moved on and is engaged to OM in the beginning but starts to realise that she still has feeling for the H and then cheats on the OM with the H💀 Didn’t bother me as much tbh but just a heads up for y’all) - slight OM drama - celibate hero (he hasn’t been with anyone since her and also she’s the only woman he’s ever slept with/loved) and non celibate heroine (she’s only been with one other man apart from the H i.e. OM) - childhood sweethearts to strangers to lovers again??? - second chance romance - HEA w/vow renewal + a baby
pre-read review: so i found out that the H hasn’t been with anyone since the h (YAY CELIBATE HERO) so obv i had to check the book out. sounds like this one is right up my alley heheh (SUE ME BUT I LOVE ME SOME OM DRAMA OOPS I -)
Ms Brooke Montgomery is starting off her new series with a banger.
If Sweet Home Alabama and the Notebook had a love child it would be this book.
Warren & Maisie 💕 Cowboy x city girl Second chance / high school sweethearts Forced proximity Small town / ranch resort
Uh so they’re married but she’s engaged to some other dude. And our boy ain’t signing the divorce papers. Love me the tension & angst. Slow burn but when the spice hit, it was hittin.
Plus the man built her, her dream house with the fancy library. And cooks and bakes and plans dates for her. The way I would fold for this man. Swoon.
This one was a solid 3.5 stars for me. I liked it as an intro to a new town and a new set of characters. I liked the originality of Warren and Maisie's second chance. Can't say I have read one with this set of scenarios- waiting on divorce papers to be signed and FMC is engaged to another man! The steam and build up were done well in my opinion. I think I had a hard time with how drastically the FMC changed her mind about her life in general including her love life. She was so dead set on being happy in New York and being in love with her current fiance, the turn around to realizing her mistakes was a little fast for me. I also felt like she was semi hostile towards Warren, who is just the sweetest, and to have her accept the option of 7 dates with him before he signed the papers just didn't seem realistic given how they had both acted. I also felt like I missed what happened when they were younger- how they just drifted apart. With that being said, I LOVED watching Warren work his charm to get Maisie to remember what they had together. What he still felt for her. Their connection was a VERY low simmer at first but once Maisie let her walls down, it was pretty hot. Great build up. I do love that they ended up together and that Warren helped Maisie realize work isn't everything in life. You have to recognize and appreciate the salad days!
Maisie is on a mission. She HAS to get her estranged husband to sign these divorce papers so that she can move forward with marrying her now fiance. Said fiance who does not know that she is in fact still legally married to her high school sweetheart. Really childhood sweetheart. But Warren refuses to sign them again. He does give her an option though. He wants seven dates to prove to her that they could still be amazing. He wants to remind her of what they once had and show her that it is still there. Maisie hesitantly says yes. It feels a little slimy but ground rules have been laid out and so she moves forward with it. She soon realizes how much her life has changed since she moved to the city. How much her priorities have changed. She doesn't just go out with friends and have fun like her and Warren are doing. She can't remember the last time her and her fiance cooked together or took the time to go for a walk together. It's like her dreams got ahead of reality somehow. And Warren is doing exactly what he said he would. He is reminding her that they have a soul connection. Before anything happens Maisie loops her fiance in. She makes plans for her future with Warren. She wants this and will take the consequences whatever they may be. Besides the time spent together, Maisie also forgot how fun foreplay was. How fun things in the bedroom could be. How much her and Warren enjoyed each other. Now though that Maisie has made up her mind, her fiance has a final strategy up his sleeve to make sure she will pay for changing their plans.
Warren is a married man. He has been for a while now, but the tricky part is that he and his wife don't talk. He can't pinpoint when things shifted but she moved to the city and left him in the dust. Now she is back again with divorce papers, but this time she is here in person. She is HERE. And he realizes this is his moment to try to win her back. So he offers her a choice. He wants seven dates to prove to her that there is still something between them, and if she doesn't feel it then he will sign the papers. He has always been a goner for this woman. He just has to play it cool and let that bleed through a little bit so she will remember what they had. And he quickly realizes he loves this version of her. He loves being able to watch her get comfortable with him again. He loves how she is the same woman but also very different. He loves watching her let her walls down and get a little closer. He just LOVES her. So when she says she reciprocates and gives him the green light. All bets are off. Warren feels like he needs to pinch himself to make sure he is not dreaming. This can't be real. But it is. She is here and she has chosen him. She makes his body and his soul sing, and all is right. Until Maisie goes back to tie up loose ends, and Warren has to step in to show everyone that he isn't going anywhere without Maisie by his side.
Warren was just the sweetest man. The shrine that he created for this woman who left him high and dry. I loved when they both bared their soles to each other about how they reacted to their time apart. I was intrigued enough in this one to be excited about book 2. I loved the text banter and getting to meet all of the siblings, and can't wait for the rowdy playboys to find their ladies who will whip them into shape. I would recommend this for a nice intro to a new setting with an original play on second chance!
Thank you to Ember PR and Brooke for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review!
I just adore Brooke's small town romances. And seeing Landon from Fall With Me (Book 3 in the Sugarland Creek series) was so fun.
I was ever so slightly uncomfortable with this situation. Estranged husband and wife, she's engaged to someone else but the divorce papers haven't been signed, and when she arrives in town to get them signed, he asks her to give him 7 days to remind her what they used to be like, and make sure she's sure that she's not making a mistake. I was worried about potential cheating. But the lines are very blurred here. They're still married, despite her being in a new relationship. Overall, I didn't hate how it was dealt with, especially as more things about the situation are revealed.
However, this is the type of second chance romance I actually really enjoy reading. A separation in marriage and them coming back together after years of growing as individuals. It's nice to get the flashbacks so you can see how they've grown and changed over the years. I also loved the scene towards the end between Warren, Masie's parents and fiancé. Love the way he dealt with that. In my head, I was in the corner of the room with pom-poms cheering him on.
Loved the setting of Willow Branch Mountain and I'm so ready to give into book 2.
Thank you to Ember Literary PR for an ARC of this one.
it actually pains me to give a célibate mmcs book such a low rating, but i did not enjoy this at all. my main issue and what caused me to not enjoy this was the cheating. and no, her having a fiancé is hardly omd, and you know i LOVE omd and jealousy from the mmc. sadly this was not that at all. first of all for someone who supposedly never moved on and kept waiting for her to come back he sure didn't seem all that guted when he found out she was engaged, if anything he was just mildly irritated. no angst, no sadness, no jealousy.. he even felt comfy to discuss her sex life with om
*safety : -safe -no cheating between MCs - no owd -omd : fmc is engaged to om and cheats on him with the mmc. - celibacy during seperation : he was celibate, she has only been with her fiancé Hayes
spoilers ahead
so basically Maze and Warren are highschool sweethearts, they dated for 7 years, got married at 21 but ultimately drifter apart when Maze moved to New york for an apprenticeship to pursue her career, and Warren did not want to move. 7ears later she is engaged to om, but the kick is that she is still married to Warren as he never signed the divorce papers that she sent him multiple times. so she shows up in person to ask him to signe, he refuses, asks her for a week of dates to make her reconsider and take him back. so she spends a week emotionally and physically cheating on her fiancé with no guilt nor even sparing him a thought.
-my 2nd issue is Warren and how he was gaslighting Maze about her career. so basically he kept blaming her for the divorce because she was the one who moved away, then he tried to convince her that she is miserable in her dream job, in her own company that she worked so hard to achieve. he hasn't seen or spoke to her in 7 years and he thinks he has the right to say that? the funny part was that he was miserable for 7 years too so why isn't he nitpicking his own life and career choices ? what's worst is that it worked and it made her drop her dream job in her dream city to move back home - 3rd issue is that Warren said he never signed the papers in the hopes that she would realize her mistake and take him back, he even built her a dream house à la " the notebook" . yet this man never actively tried to get her back for 7 years yet was expecting HER to drop everything and go back to him ? so why is he trying to get her back NOW, that she is with another man, happy and ready to move on? why couldn't he have seeked her before instead of being a coward who was insecure about her success.
everytime they spoke about her career i got soo effy and icked out by Warren, he looked down at her dreams and said it himself that " he just assumed she'd drop it once she realized he was the one she wanted", what does her career have to do with wanting him??? if she's the love of his life why hasn't HE dropped his job who he had 0 passion for and was only doing it because it's a family business, to be with her and support her. why does the woman has to sacrifice something she spent 7 years building and a life time of wanting ?.
im not even going to adress Maze's parents because i'll get irrationally mad😂😂
- now the wronged fiancé, the author tried to justify her cheating by making him the " bad " guy at the end when he tried to take her trust fund, but it's 100% justified... his fiancé and lover of 3 years lied to him about still being married to her ex, cheated on him for a week, ghosted him when he was texting her, then told him she was leaving him 2 months before the wedding. yet HE is the bad guy? if i were him i'd do way worst than aim for her trust fund and making her pay her half of the rent is the LEAST she can do.. and he even apologized for it all and safely sent her her things.... what they did to Hayes was mainly the reason i couldn't enjoy this book.
anyways 70% of the book was unenjoyable because of the cheating, then 30% was spent having sex none stop. the few enjoyable scenes were with other characters aka Warren's siblings Bodie, Posey, Bellamy and Collins, his Cousin Landen and Bestfriend Silas were HILARIOUS especially with his sisters Bellamy and Posey 😂😂
- from what we got im guessing future books are going to be about: - Landen and Ellie : 100% will read if he wasn't a manwhore during those 4 years he was crushing on her because it looked like Ellie was so mean to him and i love that 😂 - Posey and Silas : major major avoid, from what we got it's a 2nd chance romance where he screwed her over and got engaged to OW and we got explicit details of his romance and sexual life with ow, and i loved Posey she was hilarious and deserves way better
🎧: The audio for this one is also top notch. I swear Savannah Peachwood can pull off any accent and make it look flawless. She brought Maisie to life so well, and added so much emotion. And Aiden Snow as Warren was the perfect choice. He nailed it, the tender parts and the spicy parts. I loved it all. And having this story I already loved brought to life in audio 😍😍😍 soooo good.
book review:
I love a good marriage in crisis and this one delivered on everything I wanted! Plus as someone who adores Sweet Home Alabama, the vibes on this matched it, and made me giddy. Brook always writes small town cowboys/ranchers in a way that draws you in easily.
And Maisie and Warren… I was hooked.
✨ Small Town Romance ✨ Estranged Spouses ✨ Childhood Sweethearts ✨ He Pines for Her ✨ Pierced Hero
So I loved Warren from chapter one because this man was obsessed and not willing to give up his wife. And even though they had been estranged for 7 years and she was engaged to someone else, that man did not give up. I loved him for it.
Plus when he makes her give him seven days to fall back I. Love with him… I swooned. I also really ended up loving Maisie in this one too!
I also loved meeting the side characters and cannot wait for the next book. Everything I love about smalltown romance. Brooke nailed it with this one.
Plus there are chickens and one of them is named Kelly Cluckson, and my life is complete.
If Sweet Home Alabama and The Notebook merged into one story this would be it!
This is my first book by Brooke and I absolutely love her writing!
Warren is nothing but GREEN FLAGS. This man is head over heels in love with Maise and will do whatever it takes to win her back! The grand gestures had me melting🫠💗
High school sweethearts get married young. Maise wanted to go to school and start her career which lead her to NY. Warren works on his family’s ranch and chose not to leave with her. They separate but never file for a divorce…
Fast forward 7 years later Maisie is back and ready for Warren to sign the papers since she is engaged to be married! He says he will only sign if she gives him 7 days to convince her they are meant for each other!
I was worried that the book would follow sweet home Alabama too much but it didn’t! It was still its own unique story but had some of our favorite moments for inspo! I literally can’t wait to read the next book in the series!!!!
Thank you Brooke Montgomery and Ember Literary PR for giving me the opportunity to read this arc! Absolutely loved it!
“Maisie’s the love of my life, and even if she doesn’t pick me, I’ll always pick her.”
Never has there been a man more down bad for a woman! Warren Langston put all the book boyfriends to shame because he would have waited his entire life for Maisie to come back to him.
This second chance romance truly hooked me right from the beginning. Their love started at 15 and blossomed from there. They had it all until life got in the way. It was a case of the right people at the wrong time.
Maisie has the career she always wanted, a fiancé and a big city life. Everything is great until her ‘husband’ refuses to sign divorce papers. The Sweet Home Alabama vibes this book gave off were DIVINE! The angst & pining was delivered on a silver platter and I ate it up.
I loved Warren so much, he was ALWAYS all in on Maisie, and wasn’t going to blow his last shot to prove to her that they were endgame. This man built her dream home. I’m never getting over it.
If you want a bit of an emotional one, this book had me crying already in the first 15%. It’s a second chance romance and those just always get to me bad!
This book is about two people who made some choices when they were young and married which led to these same two people unintentionally really hurting each other. However, they never had a true falling out of love, despite the many years apart.
I cried at various points in the book, I just felt for them both and their situations. I especially worried a bit for Warren’s heart and whether Maisie was serious or just reliving a fantasy. Of course, I know the book has an HEA so I could reasonably be assured but it’s a little messy either way!
I absolutely adored Warren and his steadfast commitment. Maisie grew on me, you really get to know her and understand where she’s coming from with her history and a bit of a rock on her shoulder that she needed to shrug off.
The whole book drew me in, the drama of it as well as the characters who are all engaging (MC’s and sides). There are several hot open-door scenes that just flow so naturally in the relationship once they get there, it’s just so easy between them and you can really feel their long-time connection, their knowing each other for so long and deeply. This also makes the whole thing pretty sweet with some heart-squeezing moments.
Overall a very enjoyable, warm, second-chance, small-town romance. Definitely recommend!
4/5 ⭐️
I received an advance copy of the book and have left my honest, influence-free review
This book reminded me of Sweet Home Alabama if it had a baby with The Notebook and I ATE it up.
I am completely and totally obsessed with Warren. He was committed to his estranged wife for SEVEN years, even though she was engaged to another man. Are you kiddddddding me. He never faltered on the way he felt about her and did everything he could to win her back.
I was a litttttle concerned that I wasnt going to like Maisie but she made up for it the end and I ended up rooting for her💕
I loved the banter with the siblings. They cracked me up and I love how close they all were to each other.
I already know I'm going to be obsessed with this series so I can't wait to see what's next!
Tropes: ✨️ Second Chance ✨️ High School Sweethearts ✨️ She's engaged to another man ✨️ Slow Burn ✨️ Cowboy Romance ✨️ Angsty
A new series, a small town with a second chance couple. Warren and Maisie, fell in love at 15, married, years later he refuses to sign the divorce papers.
A little like Sweet Home Alabama, but this story fell flat for me. I never connected with the characters, side characters who I hope get their own stories in the future, I found I liked more.
The blurb did pull me in, and I might continue the series. Although the book did not work for me, I hope it will work for others.
Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.
Warren Langston is a book boyfriend that will be hard to beat.
My obsession with Brooke Montgomery's writing began with her Sugarland Creek series. I devoured those books as each one came out, and was so excited for the opportunity to join her ARC team as she began her Willow Creek series. I'll willingly admit that I was anxious and nervous as the release date approached. Was I going to be disappointed? Could this even live up to my expectations? Was I so biased already that I couldn't be objectionable? Then the romance began in the third paragraph of the prologue and by chapter five I was bawling my eyes out. I laughed and cried the entire time I read. The banter is fantastic and the devotion is melt into a puddle worthy. The only disappointment I feel is that I have to wait for the second book. (If you've read a Brooke Montgomery book, you know she does an amazing job of setting up all the footwork for you to already be in love with the next set of main characters before you even realize it.)
I won't read a book after I know much of the content, so I won't give any spoilers, but will suggest you read the content warning to be sure you're ok with the gray area.
i will never not devour a small town romance, and you best believe i binge tf out of it when brooke montgomery writes it!!
take my name is a second chance romance about a literary agent who returns to her hometown, and the high school sweetheart turned estranged husband she left all those years ago. this had phenomenal angst, tension and banter - and the spice was, as always, smoking hot. i absolutely adored warren and maisie together, and the found family vibes were unmatched.
this is book one in the willow branch mountain series, and i am beyond excited for the next books!
side note: can we get a commotion for the fact that brooke’s books have cute AND spicy illustrations in her books?? OBSESSED!!
- small town - second chance - slow burn - estranged lovers (that are still married) - cowboy
All of Brooke Montgomery's cowboy romance books are comfort reads to me. I love her writing style. This particular book is extra angsty and had me in tears a lot faster than I expected. Warren's POV had my heart hurting for a good chunk of the book. Don't get me wrong, there were happy parts during his POV too, so don't let me scare you off! I haven't read very many books where the MMC stays celibate in a second chance romance. Warren and Maisie were really young when they got married, he knew what he wanted, he knew Maisie was his person and it's not that Warren wasn't Maisie's person, she just had a little bit of growing up and dream chasing to do and got a little lost along the way. She filed for divorce after a few years of living in New York working in the literary world. She didn't really want a divorce, but in her way of thinking, he didn't go after her, so she assumed their relationship was over. Each time Warren was served with divorce papers, he refused them. After 7 years, Maisie has become engaged to an author and now she NEEDS Warren to sign the papers, especially since her fiance does not know that she is married. Warren agrees to sign the papers as long as Maisie gives him 7 days to convince him that she does not still love him. The dates that Warren planned during his 7 days to win her back were absolutely swoon-worthy. There was also some crossover from Sugarland Creek. Take My Name runs along the same timeline as Landon's book, Fall With Me. If you enjoy angsty romance books that have a happy ending, I highly recommend Take My Name.
Seven days. The gamble of a lifetime for a second chance at a first love. And a whole bunch of chickens with the most iconic names known to man.
BROOKE MONTGOMERY, YOU DID IT AGAIN. I swear I didn’t like second chance romances until this year and I’m so happy to be proven wrong. God this book was fantastic.
The years-long yearning, the witty banter, the mustache rides (oop- did I say too much?) Speaking of Warren, the husband of the decade… I burn for MC’s like this. Wholeheartedly devoted, feral to protect his woman, and yet always doing what he can for her to shine. Probably doesn’t help that he’s built and creative *ahem* in different capacities, but who’s to say?
And our sweet Maisie. I’ve never wanted so badly to crawl through my kindle with a chainsaw to take someone down but that’s exactly how I felt when someone tried to come for this lover of a woman. I honestly appreciated her tenacity and courage. Whether chasing her dreams or giving herself the permission to return to her safe haven, I adored Maisie from the get go. Finding MC’s you root for wholeheartedly is such a delight and this book has just that.
And to think- this is just Book 1 in the Willow Branch Mountain Series- we have more to come!! For those who don’t know, Brooke has additional series that are just as delicious, swoony and steamy. Her Sugarland Creek series is romantic suspense and had me up way too late devouring each story, and I’d 1000x recommend reading them as well. I’d especially encourage book 3 as you might see some overlap in Take My Name. (This series isn’t as suspenseful so I’d recommend checking tw’s for SC series if that’s a concern for you.)
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and am now giddily awaiting the next book to read the next Langston’s love story! Thank you forever to Brooke Montgomery & Ember Literary PR for this arc.
⭐️ Second Chance ⭐️ Loathe to Lovers ⭐️ Small Town ⭐️ Cowboy Romance ⭐️ High School Sweethearts ⭐️ Yearning & Slow Burn ⭐️ Swoony & Spice ⭐️ Caretaking
Step aside Tripp Hollis, the new LOML has come to town 🫠🫠🫠
I honestly didn’t think it was possible for her to write a man I loved more than Tripp, but the way I swooned over Warren the ENTIRE BOOK. Maybe even drooled a little 🤷🏻♀️ this man is what dreams are made of.
Works with his hands, loyal, patient, observant, everything you could possibly look for in a partner (especially as a reader). I was straight up mad at Maisie for the first third of the book🤣🤣 but she found her way.
I love that Brooke did a crossover of Fall With Me in this book. It made me so happy to read more about Landon and Ellie. My love for the Hollis family will never go away, but I can OFFICIALLY say that the Langston family is JUST AS GOOD. The banter is top notch between the siblings. I live for it.
The relationships you see forming makes me giddy for more of this series!!! I cannot wait to see how Brooke creates more spicy, beautiful couples for us to DEVOUR.
I love the Sweet Home Alabama meets The Notebook vibes this book gave me. I melted with every single sweet moment that Warren had with Maisie. This man was gone for her since 15 and it shows in EVERYTHING he’s done in the 7 years they were apart. Yall I can’t wait for you to experience this masterpiece!! I finished it in 24 hours and I’m so sad it’s over.
If you love second chances, it’s always been you, loathe to love, angsty, slow burn, cowboy romance books, then look no further. I absolutely loved this read!! So thankful to have gotten an ebook arc to read and review 🫶🏻
I absolutely loved Take My Name! It’s a second chance, small town, cowboy romance set in a luxury mountain resort so it’s already right up my street, but the MMC was the highlight here.
Warren Langston might be the most perfect man I’ve ever read about. He marries Maisie young and she leaves a year later and moves to New York for seven years, but this man doesn’t move on from her. The things he does for her, both while she’s away and when she gets back were enough to win any woman over, Maisie had no hope! If you’re into acts of service in your romances then you will adore this man.
“I may not be with Maisie anymore, but she’s still my damn wife. I’m nothing if not loyal and faithful to the vows we said to each other eight years ago.”
The connection between Warren and Maisie felt so genuine and the conclusion to the storyline with Maisie’s ex and family was beyond satisfying!
It’s probably worth a mention that there is some light infidelity in this book. The dynamic is a little convoluted so I’m not actually sure who is cheating on who, but it’s definitely happening somewhere so if that bothers you then this story might not be for you.
I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait to continue the series. If you’re in the mood for a summery Cowboy romance this is the perfect choice!
This book hit me so hard in the feels. I think I screamed and cried at my kindle no less than 30 times while reading it. It was beautiful and heartbreaking and just…damn…men…take notes…read this book and take big big notes…the way Warren loves…TRULY LOVES, Maze… 😩😩 I’ve said it once and I’ll say it again….if he wanted to he WOULD! This book proves that when a man loves you…is seriously committed to you and WANTS YOU IN HIS LIFE….there is NOTHING that will stop him from perusing you and making sure you know exactly how he feels and where he stands. Brooke Montgomery has kicked off this series with a the literal gold standard of men…I don’t know if my heart is ready for what else she has in store for us 🥹🥹
Maze and Warren were high school sweethearts. Love stronger than anything. And when you feel that way…when you have your person…getting married…even young, seems like the right thing. So that’s what they did. But when Maze goes off to college…things change. She’s no longer satisfied with the slow, quiet, country life that she’s had her whole life. She wants more. And Warren? Well he’s home waiting for her…happy with his life as a ranch hand and doing what he’s always loved and married to the girl he’s only ever wanted. But sometimes even love isn’t enough. Maze decides she needs and wants more and essentially ends the marriage. Deciding her new found life was more important than the one she left behind.
9 years later, Maze has a whole new life. City girl with a big career and a wedding to a new man. Only one problem…she never officially got divorced from Warren. And he’s not willing to sign the divorce papers. Despite the years, he very much so still considers himself to be married to Maze and isn’t giving in without a fight. Maze heads back home to cut all ties once and for all but it’s not that easy. Warren says he’ll sign the papers under one condition…she gives him a week to show her just how good the used to be together and still are. How much he loves her and how much they deserve to give their marriage a fair shot. If after the week she still feels like she wants to end it, he will sign. She reluctantly agrees…but you could see the flicker of a spark in her the minute she stepped back in town.
I’ll say this right now…Maze never stood a chance and I think she knew that which is why she was hesitant. This man worships the ground she walks on. He built her DREAM HOUSE! And a LIBRARY for her books! 🥹 listen…a man builds me a library and I’ll ride him into the sunset for the rest of eternity. I. Do. Not. Care. Gimmie.
It’s…painful at times. Seeing the way Maze struggles with her feelings. She put on a tough front of not caring what he did in the beginning but I felt like she was doing that to keep from breaking down. Because that love she had for Warren never went away. She just…got caught up in the what ifs of being young and surrounded by new people and experiences. She didn’t think she could have that with Warren…but she could. She just never gave them the proper chance.
I think the time they spent apart, while heart breaking, was ultimately good for them. They were together for so long at such a young age that they didn’t really know who they were as individuals. This gave them a chance to figure that out and find their way back to each other. Maze got to see how much of a man Warren grew up to be…while still being the boy she fell in love with. And Warren got to see the independent woman that Maze grew into…and both realised that they could be together and love each other just as they are and without resentment.
Now…Warren…he isn’t JUST a good man. He’s a dirty one too and I was sat front and center for all of it like a good girl 🤭🤭🤭 filthy mouth, filthier tongue. BOTH of them PIERCED?!?! 🥵🥵🥵 who knew we’d get all this from a spicy ranch hand 😉
I loved watching them fall apart and find their way back to each other. Modern day Sweet Home Alabama meets The Notebook but make it spicy 😉 I can’t wait to see what the rest of this series holds for us 💜
Thank you so much to Brooke Montgomery and Ember Literary PR for the opportunity to ARC read this amazing book!💜

Take My Name is the first book in the Willow Branch Mountain series, following Maisie and Warren. Sweet Home Alabama is one of my favorite movies from the 2000s, and this book gave me all the nostalgic vibes. I couldn't get enough of these characters and their super sweet second chance romance.
Maisie is the only woman Warren has ever loved. They were best friends growing up, fell in love as teenagers, and got married. After college, Maisie moved to New York to pursue her career while Warren stayed behind on his family's ranch. Although they haven't seen each other in seven years, they never officially got divorced. Now, Maisie is engaged to someone else and is back in Willow Branch Mountain to finally get Warren to sign the divorce papers. Warren has never stopped loving Maisie and believes they still belong together. Signing the divorce papers is the last thing he wants to do, so he offers her a deal. Seven days and seven dates so he can show her how great they can be together. If she still wants the divorce after that, he’ll sign the papers.
Maisie and Warren completely stole my heart. The two of them were perfect together. Their chemistry was sizzling, and I loved their banter. Warren is the perfect grumpy cowboy who would do anything to show Maisie they were meant to be. He was patient for seven years and never gave up on Maisie. This man built her dream house, including a big library! I mean, c'mon! The way he loved Maisie made me melt. Watching Maisie slowly fall back in love with Warren was so satisfying. I loved that Warren never rushed Maisie and continued to show how much he cared while giving her time to work out her feelings. Maisie and Warren's journey back to each other was full of love, heartbreak, forgiveness, and growth. They both made mistakes, but those mistakes made them stronger, and I couldn't help but root for them. I enjoyed this book and can’t wait for what comes next in this series.
Narration: Savannah Peachwood and Aiden Snow performed this audiobook in duet. I loved them as Maisie and Warren, and felt their voices were perfectly suited for these amazing characters. Savannah and Aiden did a wonderful job making the characters feel real and bringing them to life. They brought the banter, chemistry, and all the emotions associated with Maisie and Warren's complicated but sweet journey back to love. Savannah and Aiden were the perfect narrating duo and delivered an amazing listening experience.
Thanks to Brooke Montgomery and Lyric Audiobooks for the review opportunity. Opinions expressed are my own.
Brooke Montgomery has done it again! Second chance romance BUT they’re still married, they’re both pierced, and he builds the house she dreamed about when they were teenagers? *insert sobbing while h*rny gif*
💜 second chance romance 💜 Cowboy 💜 pierced FMC & MMC 💜 small town 💜 slow burn
This story was so special. Warren and Maisie start dating as teenagers, get married at 21, and then separate for 7 years. Now Maisie is engaged and wants a divorce so she can marry her fiance. Warren decides enough is enough and is determined to get his woman back! *fist pumps*
Warren was just so gone for Maisie and I was SAT. The longing, the WAITING. This man said I already found my woman and I’m not going to entertain any others and I was panting like a dog for it. And then he went and got pierced, cooks for her, etc like dude you do not have to ruin all other book boyfriends for me like this!
I really loved the love these 2 have for each other. The callbacks to their past while also building on that and learning who each other is now was so special. Also the banter as foreplay is just my favorite and Brooke Montgomery truly makes this her specialty.
The SPICE! The piercings? Hot of course. But the my wife moments had me up and taking laps to cool down. Warren and Maisie are both vocal about what they want and I ATE. IT. UP!
Once again we have a speculator found family vibe and I’m excited to see how my predictions play out in the next books.
I just adored Maisie and Warren and the rest of the Langston and Willow Branch family and I cannot wait to see where this series will take us 😍. Can we talk about the setup for book 2??? 👀 I need it.
Thank you so much to Brooke Montgomery for the arc of Take My Name!
If Sweet Home Alabama and The Notebook merged into one story, this would be it!
This is my first experience with Brooke's writing, and I am completely enamoured with her style.
Warren is the epitome of a green flag; he is utterly devoted to Maisie and is determined to win her back. The grand romantic gestures had me swooning! They were high school sweethearts who married young, but when Maisie pursued her education and career in New York, Warren chose to stay behind on the family ranch. Although they separated, they never finalized their divorce. Fast forward seven years, and Maisie returns, ready for Warren to sign the divorce papers since she’s engaged to someone else. However, he insists on a week to prove they belong together!
The tension and angst are palpable, and while it’s a slow burn, when the passion ignites, it truly captivates.
Plus, Warren even built her dream house complete with a stunning library, cooks, bakes, and plans romantic dates—what a catch! I found myself completely charmed by him.
There are also intriguing side characters like Landen, who seems to have his sights set on a girl who initially isn’t interested, but after losing her memory, things take a twist. I’m excited to hear he has his own book! Then there’s Colt, who believes he can have any girl he wants; I’d love to see a story where a girl puts him in his place.
As for Silas and Posey’s story, I’m hesitant to dive in since it seems Silas moves on with OW, Posey is his second choice when OW leaves. Our girl deserves so much better!!
Reading a book by Brooke Montgomery is like having an uncontrollable addiction. Once you start, you can’t stop. And crave more. I don’t know what magic she puts into her books but I love it. I adore it. I always end up reading her books in under a day. And that’s saying something when I have nearly five kids. 😂
If you love: 🐴 High school sweethearts 🐴 Second chance romance 🐴 Cowboy romance 🐴 Angsty slow burn 🐴“My Wife” 🐴 Small mountain town 🐴 Found Family 🐴 First book in a new interconnected series 🔥Oh, and lots of delicious spice!
Maisie and Warren were the it couple in high school. So in love and everyone thought they were end game. Until they weren’t. Maisie wanted to follow her dreams outside their small town. Warren didn’t want to leave his family’s resort he works on.
So when Maisie comes back home seven years later, she gets a door slammed in her face by Warren. But Maisie needs Warren. And Warren is still very much in love with her and will do absolutely anything to make her stay home.
“Warren, please. I don’t wanna hurt you more than I already have. We’re not compatible anymore. Don’t you wanna find—” “I’d rather die alone than be with someone else.” “That’s dramatic.” “It’s the truth.”
If you’re like me and love the movie Sweet Home Alabama, this book gives off those vibes. It’s fabulous. Angsty, romantic, spicy, and an adorable HEA that’s well earned. You’ll fall in love with Warren quick like I did!
NOW THIS IS WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!!!! You got me hooked like the little fish I am.
Warren and Maisie fell in love at 15, and in their early 20s, they got married. Differences causing them to become estranged FOR 7 YEARS! Life goes on, little Maisie moo gets engaged to another man!! But heres the kicker... shes still married 😏 So when Maisie shows up with divorce papers, my man Warren said, Oh honey, no....flush them🥰🤚 Begging her for a second chance. Can you imagine what's next?😏
The sparks...I felt like I was going to COMBUST. The way Warren built his literal life to make this girl happy. Praise the lord 🫡 The way I was absolutely FERAL for him and how in love and committed he is. I'm screaming and punching my pillow rn.
The tension? CHECK The angst? UM CHECK The spice? Clutching my pearls...YES BABY, CHECK. Warren was so swoon worthy. We love man that LISTENS. 💥
The chemistry was off the charts I needed to fan myself with my kindle ya'll 😭
💜 Second Chance Romance 💔 Estranged Lovers 🔥 Forced Proximity 🤠 Cowboy Romance 💍 "My wife" 👩❤️👨 High-School Sweethearts
Thank you again, Brooke, for this amazing arc. You really nailed it (bumdum ts🥁) on this one🌶
Take My Name is book 1 in the Willow Branch Mountain series and I'm already obsessed. I want to go back ASAP! Brooke's writing is like a drug, it's just so addictive and impossible not to fall in love with it. This was such a beautiful story. It has so much longing and tension it's unreal. It had my stomach in knots for the entirety of it. I was so nervous, I needed them to be together. Brooke created another fabulous ranch with a wonderful family to fall in love with, with enough details to be able to imagine it in your head without making it too much.
Warren is one of the most swooniest MMC’s I've ever read about! Serious The Notebook vibes. The man built her her dream home and they weren't even together anymore. He waited for her for 7 years, he just kept living for her even if she had “moved on”. They were the epitome of what it means to be meant to be. Their chemistry is off the charts, their romance was so damn sweet, the way they loved and cared for each other absolutely beautiful and the spice was hot hot hot 🥵 🥵 🥵 !! I am obsessed with them, I loved them so much 🥰
Overall, this was a fantastic first book in this series and I cannot tell you how excited I am to continue it. Brooke always manages to write amazing stories and characters that I can never get enough of!
🎧 The narration by Aiden Snow & Savannah Peachwood was amazing, two of my favorites together. They just always bring the heat and emotions full force. I could feel the chemistry between them, the want, the longing and the need. The spice scenes with them are always amazing. A great audiobook!
✨️ Thank you to @brookewritesromance for my gifted ALC in exchange for an honest review.
Take My Name is such a cute and sweet romance that is reminiscent of Sweet Home Alabama.
💜Small town romance 💜Married, but estranged 💜Childhood sweethearts 💜Slow burn 💜”My wife”
Maisie and Warren were high school sweethearts, who got married young. And life set them on different paths that didn’t include one another. Now Maisie is engaged and set to be married to another man, and she finally needs her stubborn husband to sign the divorce papers.
But we both know that he isn’t going to make this easier. And when he gets her to agree to one week to change her mind, this man really shows up!
Warren is fantastic and I just loved his dedication to his wife. Throughout the years, he never doubted his love for her and he stuck through it knowing that one day they would make their way back to one another.
Maisie’s situation was so complicated and I just loved seeing her fall back in love with her husband. I loved seeing them reminisce about their past life.
As usual, Brooke smashed it with these narrators! Aiden Snow and Savannah Peachwood are a phenomenal duo and were the perfect choices for these characters.
“You’re seriously gonna leave right now?” “I’m workin’, Maze!” I face her, my neck getting hot. “Did you expect me to drop everythin’ for you? I can’t just take a break because you finally returned after seven years.” My words come out harsh, but I can’t seem to stop the anger from pouring out.”
But he expected her to drop everything she worked for and wanted for years fk hypocrite?
“You’re gonna ride in those atrocious heels?” I raise a challenging brow.”
Hes mean, condescending and I wish she dropped him sooner.
“This is Lilith,” I tell her, shifting my gaze to Bodie, who’s shaking his head at me for giving her the demon horse. “Do you remember how to put on a saddle?”
Giving her a horse he knows can hurt her? Not only is he an asshole but refusing to divorce her for years is downright abusive and manipulative. And I went into this book thinking she didn’t deserve him but it’s the other way around. Wish she ended up with a normal guy not whatever this one is.
"You act like I haven't licked hot fudge off that ass. Relax."
I loved this! Which is not surprising considering how obsessed with the Sugarland Creek Series!
This one is the first in a new series that features the Hollis' cousin Warren and his wife Maisie.
You've got a second chance romance, filled with 'my wife' moments and just enough spice to keep you interested!
Warren has 7 days to win his highschool sweetheart/wife back before she marries another man... and boy does he lay the Langston charm on thick. I mean come on, he still built her dream house (complete with a library 🥵) in the hopes she would eventually come back to him 🥺 he is the ultimate book boyfriend material!
If you love an angsty small town romance, this one is for you!
🤠 small town cowboy 🧡 second chance 🤠 high school sweethearts 🧡 obsessed MMC 🤠 'my wife'
Brooke Montgomery did it again, she has yet to write a book i havent loved.
Take My Name by Brooke Montgomery is the first book in a interconected standalone series following the Langston Sibling's. The story follows Maisie and Warren, who are married but separated, we have second chance, pierced mmc & fmc, small town and slow burn.
Maisie and Warren were literally everything, the way he loved her so much and refused to move on even after 7 years apart had me SAT. he also builds her their dream house and a library and OFFICE. Im so obsessed with them and their story was so beautiful, the longing, the waiting, just so perfection.
One thing i loved most about Brooke's first series (Sugarland Creek) was the sibiling banter and the family relationships, Willow Branch had all that too!! im so excited to see more of the Langston's throughout the series!!
Well, what an absolutely amazing start to this next series of books by the amazing @brookewritesromance.
I was hooked from the very first page I could not put this down.
This is the story of Warren and maisie, childhood sweethearts, separated for 7 years and pulled back together again through life's circumstances (no spoilers you need to go and read to find out all the good bits 😉) what happens next...go and have a look.
This book has given me laughs and giggles and feet kicks and everything. A story you will not be able to put down and will leave you desperate for book 2.... a sneaky little connection to another story in there which I loved also!!!
This book has ticked all the boxes for me, childhood romance, second chance, cowboy, slow burn...the list goes on and on.
✨ARC review✨ Thank you so much Brooke Montgomery for an early copy!! Out June 18!! I fear there is not a man that Brooke writes that I do not love. I love a good cowboy, it’s always/only been you, second chance. And Warren is honestly everything a girl can dream of. The way that he still cares for Maisie after all those years. The things he does to show her? MY HEART. I feel like I can’t tell you how much I loved this without spoiling anything. So i’ll leave you with this, this is probably my new favorite second chance romance. I love when side characters from other books/series make appearances in new books/series and I’ve been wanting Warrens story since Fall With Me😭
