They tried to break me. They took the man I love. Now I'll drown the world in shadows.
The rivetting conclusion to The Heir of Light and Dark Series. When defying her old master’s command puts Aila in the heart of a brewing war, she didn’t imagine it would lead her to the truth of her past; or to a fragile chance at the family she always dreamed of. As guilt and grief threatened to consume her, an unstoppable love became her anchor… and her undoing.
The Old Gods have awakened. Ivo has unearthed power that should never have been touched. And the final war looms. But the man she finally allowed herself to love is now at the mercy of the master who once broke her.
To save him—and the Alliance—Aila must embrace the darkest parts of herself. Even if it means damning the world in the process.
Aline P. Mora is a passionate writer of the same strong and witty female leads that keep her hitched to a new book.
Growing up, she found some of her best friends and lived some of her best adventures inside the pages of a book. And, in time, she found solace in her own written word.
Now, after a decade of getting to know the most diverse type of people through her career in Marketing, Aline decided to follow her soul’s desire and dedicate herself to writing, wishing she can provide the same hope and joy that she found within her favourite books to all those that are brave enough to search for it.

For anyone who has followed Aila’s journey, this is a conclusion you don’t want to miss!
The beautiful scenery, rich lore, and incredible world-building are all still here again, in a way that feels familiar… except that but now everything carries even more weight and consequence. And the characters… this is where it truly shines. Aila’s journey is powerful, raw, and unforgettable. Her struggle between light and darkness reaches its peak in a way that feels human, emotional, and incredibly real (Disney, read this and take notes how to make a proper light and dark conflict fantasy for the next Star Wars trilogy, please! Or just hire Aline and she will do the job!)
I loved how the story takes risk and doesn’t worry on just completing arcs and ending things.. It’s not an easy nor predictable story, with love, loss, sacrifice, and choices that truly matter. Oh man, my shoulders are still tense and my head still spinning from the final fight and conclusion (my heart is also recovering!). The themes around magic, balance, and purpose made me, more than once, stop and reflect… I don’t know about you, but that is one of the key things that I crave for in fantasy novels (or any other type of media with fantasy topics!).
It is a look inside of ourselves, what makes us humans, our darkness and light that brings a familiarity, a closeness, a feeling of warmth through the eyes of a great main character. I can't stress enough how the character's humanity, both cruelty and love, hope and despair, and all the duality she brings to the story make it so compelling, so intriguing.
It feels almost unreal to reach the final instalment of this journey… it has been a privilege and an honor to have a chance to read those books before anyone else! A beautiful, emotional, and meaningful conclusion to a fantastic trilogy! Thank you Aline P Mora and looking forward for whatever comes next from this brain (and heart) of yours!
Finally, the wait is over! As the gripping finale to the Heir of Light and Dark series, Chasing Starlight delivers everything we've craved after that brutal cliffhanger. And I can't thank the author enough for the eARC in exchange for an honest review.
We all held our breath to see how Aila rescues Flynn - the man she's falling for - from the clutches of Ivo, the only father figure she ever knew. The world-building is masterful, with magic's intricacies explained seamlessly amid the chaos of war and politics.
What stole my heart most? The unbreakable bonds between characters. Aila's brotherly connection with Leon, her friendships with Bren and Ruby, the familial warmth with Nico, and Aiden's steadfast support - despite his unrequited love, he steps up time and again to help Aila save Flynn, proving loyalty beyond romance.
My only gripe: No recap of key events from the previous book at the start. It would've eased readers back into the action after such a long wait. Still, this is a stellar send-off for an unforgettable series!
That was a very pleasant ending for Aila’s journey. She’s a strong and loyal to herself character, and had an ending (or new beginning?) that made justice to all she was building. Loved ❤️
