In full disclosure, I LOVED when Kevin Smith and Jay & Silent Bob were on Degrassi. So knowing that, take my review with what you will.
Clerks III came out 3 years ago. Despite those 3 years, I was NOT ready for the beginning of this book to start out that way… so be forewarned, it’s a gut punch.
This is classic Kevin Smith, just with Archie characters mixed in. I really really liked it! It was hysterical and nostalgic and silly.

I knew this was a must-read as soon as I found out about it, and I got everything I could ever want from a meeting between Archie and Randal Graves. Archie lands a job at the Quick Stop, and Kevin Smith goes all in with jokes about Archie’s painfully repressed sex life. I definitely enjoyed the first half more than the second, though, which revolves around Archie getting his new friends from Jersey into a Josie and the Pussycats concert. Somehow, Jay doesn't make a single joke about Pussy the entire comic, but instead gets super baked on some potent Riverdale weed, and starts channeling Jim Morrison on stage. I’m surprised we never got a pop-culture reference to the time Archie met the Punisher, which helped pave the way for this kind of tonal mashup in the first place. Still, as a big fan of Clerks and Archie, I’m glad I picked this up. It’s genuinely one of the funniest things Kevin Smith has written in years.
Solid crossover though the artist going on about turning Jay and Silent Bob into cartoon characters seemed nonsensical to me as they starred in their own cartoon series… Also I should have probably watched the third Clerks movie as there’s a massive Dante spoiler. But it felt like a comforting read, seeing favorite characters I haven’t in awhile.

I wasn't sure how this was going to be. I loved it! I laughed a ton in the beginning to the middle. Then it was so-so... but finished up awesome! I'm glad I didn't just get it, and put it on the shelf.
y'all already know I love me some Kevin Smith. this was everything I wanted but didn't know I needed. could there be a more perfect match up? maybe.... but this was pretty much perfect
