Rate this book
A Gilded Age mansion on a secluded Maine island sets the scene for a classic murder mystery. Join Ms. Mia, a modern-day Miss Marple with a humorous twist, as she solves the crime.

Ms. Mia, a vibrant woman of a certain age, savors all life's experiences, cheerfully rearranging hotels and lives to her satisfaction. Glamorous settings hide sinister secrets at Spinel Resorts, a luxurious chain of boutique hotels founded by her late husband.

At the exclusive Moose Isle Inn, Ms. Mia uncovers trouble at a corporate retreat, with a bitter battle over Tisserande Linens' future. Lauren Tisserande fights to revive her Maine hometown with a new factory, but her controlling CEO husband, obsessive CFO, and suspiciously wealthy trustees conspire to stop her. Her dysfunctional sales team flatly refuses to sell the new factory's products, distracted by their own pursuits.

When murder threatens Lauren's plans, Ms. Mia unleashes her talent as an amateur sleuth, diving into the investigation with charm, wit—and a glass of champagne. No one gets away with murder at her hotels!

This cozy whodunit, the second in the Ms. Mia Murder Mysteries series, is perfect for fans of Donna Andrews' Meg Langslow, Joanne Fluke's Hannah Swenson and Sarah Graves's Jake Tiptree, blending witty sleuthing with resort glamour.

Ms Mia Spinel decides to visit the Moose Isle Inn, located on a relatively small island off the coast of Maine. The only way on or off is by boat or ferry. While there, an executive group from a local linens factory was meeting to decide if they should expand their factory on this coast and hire more people. The owner is all for that, but others prefer cheaper product and labor found overseas.
When one of the group is murdered, Ms Mia is on hand to help investigate the case.

Jennifer Branch did it again! I read her first of the Ms. Mia series and couldn’t wait for the next. It did not disappoint. I love to visit Maine and this one brought back happy memories and added a really neat mystery to enjoy. Now I can’t wait for number three.
I received this book as an advance copy gift. My opinions are my own.
