Their marriage has just become official, but Inés has no intention of making it last forever. The manhwa adaptation of CHACHA KIM'S webnovel is now available in English print for the first time.
Wedding bells are ringing, and Inés Valeztena and Cárcel Escalante are finally married. Inés is a shockingly radiant bride, and the nobles who once scorned her now see her in a different light—including Cárcel, who feels unsettled by all the attention on his dazzling new wife. But on the inside, Inés remains determined to ultimately unravel this marriage and gain the freedom she could never obtain in her previous lives.
The newlyweds begin their life together in Calztela, where Cárcel is on military duty. The quaint coastal city may seem like a perfect honeymoon destination, but it also holds haunting memories from Inés's prior life. As she works to untangle herself from the past and keep her meticulous plans for the future in motion, Inés finds that Cárcel might make things more difficult than she expected.
Volume 2 collects episodes 15-28 of the webcomic The Broken This Marriage Will Fail Anyway.
ines my princess 🖤. I love to see her slowly falling for carcel and getting the love she deserves after all of the trauma she went through in her past lifetimes.
Idk this second volume was kinda male-gazey in a way I did not appreciate
Even though the art is very pretty inside, these have the ugliest uggo covers ever (yes I know the US release chose different covers but the German publication follows the Korean release unfortunately)
Hmph, this lacked the umph from the first volume, but is still relatively compelling.
I'll admit, the hopping from current timeline to flashes of the past or side conversations was a little off putting and confusing.
Art wise, GORGEOUS. Relationship progression: their relationship reaches a new milestone and level of intimacy, but Ines is still keeping Carcel at arm's length, obviously. I'm not exactly feeling any chemistry between the two, but we're still early so I'll be a little lenient.
Recap: they get married, everyone is shook at Ines's beauty, they bang for like 10 hours that night, Carcel stands up to her mom on her behalf, they move to his post city, she's recluse, he's smitten, she schemes to get the household staff on her side, he's suspicious. She brings her old attendant and Carcel is jealous. More banging. Fin.
Final Thoughts This second volume should've built further upon the story in the first one. However ultimately, the plot revolved around sex and the way it can be utilised as a tool. A lot of oohing and ahhing, and nothing like the book prior.
I will not be continuing this series.
Before thoughts Book 2 and 3 are both available for order officially on the penguin website, in english. Book one was released in 2025.
I am very much anticipating the release of this (17th March 2026.) I'm unsure what this book will have in terms of content but I assume it's going to be a brilliant continuation of the first book. You can check out my review here: The Broken Ring, Volume 1: This Marriage Will Fail Anyway

💍 The Broken Ring: This Marriage Will Fail Anyway Vol. 2
"This marriage will fail anyway."
If only Cárcel got the memo. 😂
After finally tying the knot, Inés and Cárcel begin their married life in the coastal city of Calztela. While everyone else is busy admiring the beautiful newlyweds, Inés is already planning for the day this marriage ends. Unfortunately for her carefully crafted plans, her husband seems increasingly determined to stay by her side.
💭 My Thoughts This volume was such an enjoyable read because of the ongoing gag between Inés and Cárcel.
Inés: "This marriage is temporary." 😐
Cárcel: proceeds to act like a devoted husband every chance he gets 😌💙
The disconnect between what Inés thinks is happening and what Cárcel is actually feeling creates so many entertaining moments. Their interactions are funny, frustrating, sweet, and sometimes heartbreaking all at once. As the story progresses, you can feel the emotional tension building beneath the surface. Inés is still carrying the weight of memories from her previous lives, while Cárcel is slowly becoming more invested in their relationship than either of them expected.
🌊 I also enjoyed the Calztela setting. The seaside atmosphere feels romantic, but there's always an undercurrent of sadness because of the memories tied to Inés's past.
💕 About the romance One thing that surprised me is that despite the series' reputation, the intimate scenes weren't nearly as steamy as I expected. They're present, but the focus remains on the characters' emotions, misunderstandings, and growing relationship rather than pure passion.
Honestly, the emotional tension between them often feels stronger than the physical romance.
🎨 The Art As always, the artwork is absolutely stunning. Every panel feels elegant and luxurious, especially Inés's outfits and the beautiful expressions that reveal emotions she rarely says aloud.
⭐ Rating: 8.5/10 A fascinating blend of romance, drama, reincarnation, and emotional healing. I came for the gorgeous art and complicated marriage, but stayed for the hilarious "we are definitely not in love" energy between Inés and Cárcel.
¡Waoooo, simplemente waoooo!
Also mein 15 jähriges ich hätte gesabbert.
have the same thoughts as before. so, this review will be about the entirety of season 1: ahhhh i love this couple so much. i'm so glad cárcel woke up and realized inés is who he wants. even though the couple's relationship has somewhat improved, we're not at the stage where she's reciprocating his feelings and is still trying to encourage cárcel to cheat. i love the art style as well. i just want their feelings to be mutual such that cárcel can enjoy being with her knowing that it's mutual and for inés to have a happy life in this life.
Inés continues to try and secure her own position and the future freedom she craves while Cárcel struggles with his own intense emotions and realizing just how drawn and attached to Inés he truly is. While Inés keeps trying to move things in her favor, she also seems to be realizing there may be a chance for happiness in this new relationship as well. Cárcel is aware that there is some sort of reason behind his wife's actions, but isn't clear as to what her game really is. The story movement is subtle as it focuses largely on the events directly following the wedding and still in the "honeymoon phase" as they settle into their new home.

"Cárcel thanked God for her voice. Instead of kissing her or confessing his love for her, he wept. Never mind love. All he needed was for Inés to open her eyes to see him and move her lips to call his name."
you know what's crazy is carcel never hated the idea of marrying Ines. HE HAD A HUGE CRUSH ON HER FUCK!!! And the fact subconsciously thought in vol 1 that he didn't see any future where Ines is not his wife and he dare claim he's not inlove. KRAZY!!!! carcel u dog
... i think i can just stop here. unfortunately she is a little too "cunning". i am all for female leads wanting to get their way and being a girl boss, but something about her but also I think im just sick of it for now.
a marriage by convenience and an emotionally distant female character who had previous lives. Reborn topic always intrigues me since I am curious to see how second chance will work for a character. This is about scheming, trying to change own's fate and protecting the loved ones, but also, it has plenty of spicy moments (perhaps too much oops). Both main characters are still growing on me and I just want to see a more vulnerable side of them.

Manwha chapters 15-28, read online Guys are married now, so everything should go smoothly from here, right? We see more about Ines motives for her now husband. I think this is an extremely interesting plotline and I’m very hyped to explore it more! 😳 Also it’s getting hot fast, guys. 🌶️ Love the different sides of Carcel that we explore! He can be a total idiot, puppy, sexy and smart at the same time. How’s that even possible?
This was a good continuation of the story. It's fun seeing these two get closer, even if that is foiling Ines' plans for freedom. There are a few things that didnt quite land, such as second wives... Given it's set in Catholic Spain, yeah, second wives wouldn't be a thing. That is definitely against canon law. Especially in the 1800's when this seems to be set. I can't wait to see where this goes.
(Honestly, man. In a good way obviously)
4/6 so it is enjoyable and the art is beautiful but nothing about this story thus far really pulls me. But if my library gets the next volume, I will check it out.
I do think its funny that since he hasn't cheated on her she is trying to create opportunities for him to meet women to cheat on her with.
I do get a little confused about the flashbacks on which timeline we are in.
I really enjoy how all of Inés her plans are slowly crumbling and changing even without her own full knowledge. Like yeah, she sees the main break, but she is also slowly falling for Cárcel and he is tearing down her defenses.
