Four lifelong friends call themselves a book club, but books are the last thing on their minds as they dive into beachside cocktails, belly laughs, and sun-drenched adventures.
For Ruth, this “book club” escape is her first real breath of freedom after finally divorcing her narcissistic husband. With every crashing wave, she shakes off a little more of who he told her to be and steps boldly into her new life—steadfast, hopeful, and finally free.
But when a run-in with a charming local cop—who just so happens to own a boat, a killer smile, and eyes the color of the summer sky– turns into a string of unexpected encounters, Ruth begins to reclaim the woman she had buried deep inside.
With the encouragement of her best friends and the salty breeze teasing her toward something new, Ruth learns that healing doesn't have to be lonely and romance might not be as far off as she thought.
Join the Orlinda Valley Book Club in a heartwarming novella about friendship, freedom, and the thrill of starting over. Where love might be found right off the bow of the boat.
Of course, Donna does it again! Another 5 stars. I absolutely loved reading about the book club ladies on vacation. Ruth absolutely deserved to find some happiness and the others… they kept me laughing throughout the novella! Such a cute and quick read.
This short story is full of great banter between four life long friends who escape to the ocean for a women’s trip. The mischief they get into is so fun and well written I thought I was part of the shenanigan’s and I escaped to be right there with the strong women. Absolutely a MUST read!.
Definitely a super cute fun face paced read, I definitely wanted more fun between the book club women. Although Ruthie did deserve some fun. Just not what I thought the book was going to be about
This was a cute, fun, and quick read. I enjoyed the banter between these ladies as always. However, I felt like a lot of time was spent describing things that weren’t truly relevant to the story. For example, the house layout, the bars food and drink, etc. While those things can add to the vibe of a story they’re not quite as important as the interactions between characters especially in such a limited time frame since the book is a novella. Overall, I did like the story, but I’m currently unsure if I’ll be continuing the series or not.
