Two men—one sculptor, one corporate god—will not stop fighting over Ruby Lang. She was their college Shakespeare tutor and six years later, they are still carrying a torch for her. Maybe a week in a palatial beach house with the spunky blonde is exactly what these intensely infatuated men need to work out their differences. But who will come away with the prize? Nobody knows. But their wives will be calling the shots.
this wasn't anything mind-blowing, unfortunately. and my rating lost another star when i got to the epilogue. like, seriously? the heroine is treated like a secret mistress to be hidden away even after they've been with her for THREE YEARS?? when they go on vacation, she gets a separate hotel where the heroes "visit her daily". and it's not mentioned whether she's even met their kids or whether they have any plans to really make her part of their lives. like, im sorry but are they srsly so afraid of being judged by "society" (?), that the heroes, the heroine, AND the heroes' wives are willing to hide their truth for their entire lives ? 🙄 they have a mountain of money, they could just move far away to some european coastal town or something. and that's IF people even fucking care, like come on.
so yeah, the ending felt super icky to me. not romantic at all, and NOT a HEA from my viewpoint.
JK's books have been different after her yearlong break. maybe it's not the same person ? idk. the writing is different now though. she had this way of writing the simplest sentences in the hottest way. her writing was very intentional and precise, nothing superfluous. im not feeling that anymore. every single paragraph of her pre-break books oozes sensuality, and these newer ones just don't have that. i even had a hard time finding this book's heroes appealing and that's NEVER happened to me with her heroes before her year away. i hope we get to read some old-school JK again soon.

It's hot as long as you're aware of what you're getting. It's a "sharing is caring" trope. I'll make this quick.
"A man commits murder for a pussy like that."
Dean and ex-BFF Cameron had fallen in love with their tutor, Ruby Lane, back in college. They couldn't be together because of jealousy, competitiveness, etc. Ruby moved away. Cam & Dean married for convenience and had kids with their wives (who are BFFs). Because Ruby had run away, Dean & Cam grew to hate each other, which threw their wives lives into turmoil. Yada yada the two couples end up vacationing, see Ruby again, and the wives come up with a plan. The husbands get to spend 3 days with Ruby with no strings - in return they'll start getting along again.
Things go great - everyone moves back to the hometown, the wives end up loving each other, Dean, Cam, and Ruby all have a love fest on the side. Everyone is happy.
Wtf was this? Not what I was expecting when it comes to a JK book 😅 Two (married) guys have been fighting for years because of a tutor they both fell for. Their wives find the tutor, offer her up for three days for the guys to have wild sex with her, then.. what? The tutor stays as their ‘mistress’ in the epilogue while they both remain married? 😭
I loved Jess’s Kane before she/he took a break. Now though… I do not likey! I swear all these “new” books are not her/him. I used to check on the daily for a new book drop. Now… I don’t know why I still look. This book is a NO for me. And that is sad… Come on! I know all her/him old books by heart, when I say I read them 3x 6x 10x over, I’m not exaggerating. But her these “new” books have not been hitting. And that is so sad… for ME! BRING BACK THE OLD JESSAKANE. Please…
Sorry. Not sorry. Did not make it half way through this book, and that has NEVER happened with the author.
As always, Jessa Kane is simply amazing. I look forward to every new release. I'm never disappointed with any of her stories. I am so thankful she continues to write.
HERO /HEROINE: Ruby is a Yale graduate. She has her own tea shop with a bookstore on the beach in California. It's not doing very well.
Dean and Cameron have been best friends for so long. Graduates at Yale and even married best friends. Except Dean and Cameron are no longer besties. They both fell in love with their shared tutor, while being in relationships of their own, and the tutor quit and didn't mean to cause problems. Unfortunately the guys were not able to be friendly again.
REPRESENTATION: Existing relationships, open marriages, closeted couples. The MMCs are in marriage of conveniences and their wives encourage them to have an open marriage.
OVERALL THOUGHTS: I'm always worried I'm not going to like these because of “cheating” but JK does a great job at making things clear to the reader that things are above board and that there will be a happy and satisfying ending. Also, the drama is minimal which helps, the misunderstanding, if you want to call it that, never threatens the relationship that the reader is invested in.
For anyone worried about this being a cheating trope because the MMCs are married and not to the FMC, don't be! It's clear that the wives are best friends and grew up in rich families that expected them to connect with other rich families, marry, and have children. They never really expected to find love. The wives make it extremely clear to the FMC that they love their lives, their husbands are good fathers and providers, but that they're not happy because both have been pining after a girl they met in college. They give her a chance to make money she is desperate for, while also being the conduit that helps their husbands become friends again and find happiness with the girl that got away from them.
Their dream girl is also the same girl the wives “randomly” run into on vacation. Are we buying that serendipitous moment? Not me lol. Those wives were scheming and they certainly did a good job at it.
If that doesn't convince you that the wives won't be hurt or upset at giving the guys the green flag for an open marriage, towards the end the wives share a secret that solidifies their stance on why the open marriage arrangement should continue.
FAVORITE QUOTES: “You can’t make any mistakes with Daddy, as long as you keep your thighs spread and do what you’re told. Can you do that?”
SAFETY
AGE: Ruby is 24, Dean and Cameron 28
SEXUAL HISTORY: Ruby is a virgin. Dean and Cameron both have wives that they have two children each with. It's mentioned that they're busy men who don't get intimate often with their wives and have never stepped out of their marriage.
Review of The Gift That Keeps On Giving by Jessa Kane * * * * * A spicy MMF romance that does not hold back on the surprises! Enemies become friends, an obsession becomes a lover, and a family that just keeps getting bigger.
Once upon a time Cameron and Dean were friends, until one insane crush on their tutor Ruby Lang broke them apart...but not entirely. Go figure, their wives are best friends, and they have had enough of their ongoing spat. So what happens? The wives hunt down Ruby, a suffering business owner, and make her an offer she can't refuse! Spend 3 days with their husbands, put an end to the fighting, and bang their brains out!
We get a backstory. We get some current present action that does not disappoint. We get a future planned out where EVERYONE gets a HEA! Yippe!! Dean and Cameron, both different in their appearance and tastes and careers, share a personality that fits right into their little throple: grumpy, possessive and horny. Not to forget their little kinky side. No heavy drama. Issues get resolved. Tons of hotness!
Smoking Hot - Jessa Kane does it again! While the basic plot is very similar to “The Husband Sitter” (by JK), this has its own twist.
***MINOR SPOILERS IN FOLLOWING REVIEW***
I love the low plot & HIGH SPICE, but I sort of wanted to know more about these people.
Like why the guys didn’t date/ marry Ruby in college (instead of their gf’s/ wives, whom they didn’t love). It’s not like it was several decades ago - where the taboo nature of both the wives/ and the husbands & Ruby need to be kept on the DL…
And are the husbands still sleeping (literally & figuratively) with their wives or are the wives in a committed monogamous relationship together?
I don’t know, it’s a sweet (& VERY SPICY) story but I can’t help but feel like being the mistress forever would be sort of tough & stressful & maybe even feel like second class/ not-good-enough?? Yes, it seems to be the perfect situation for everyone in this make believe story but in reality it would be a tough and often heartbreaking situation.
This was absolutely bonkers and I must say Jessa went hard. Nothing super made sense, from their ages to their marriages, but I was very much invested and sold a few pages in. And at the end everyone got what they wanted? This is the hopecore content we need in this world
This is the husband sitter all over and my least favorite jessa kane. It’s also like the stepbrother one where she ends up his mistress.
I need jessa’s men to tear down the world to be with their woman, to make sure she makes him a daddy in two ways. I love the story arc for both guys but without the traditional HEA I adore from jessa, this fell flat for me.
This was pure smut and I am living for it. This might be my wish list life 🤭
Well if this isn’t my dream life. Two hot rich men who are married get hall passes from their very understanding wives to fk the one who got away…very unconventional HEA that includes her owning a tea and bookstore with her own house. She has reading days scheduled in even!!!
Jessa Kane is the master, and this book is just further proof. Enough heat to power a small city, great characters, great premise, perfect level of filthy-yummy. All the things. One click author.
I didn’t think Jessa Kane could bring it up another notch but d*mn! This book is explosive and so crazy. I did predict one of the scenes in the book about the wives. I’ll leave that up to the readers. Two thumbs up to Jessa!
Ruby petite with big 🍈 , long blonde hair, and blue eyes. Dean tall muscular used to play football-protective. Likes to be called Daddy. Cameron tall and muscles from being a sculptor - sensual, likes to watch Dean and Ruby and hear from Ruby what they’ve done.

Cameron walked in on a drunk Ruby on the floor while his Dad was visiting. Her top came down and his Dad had a reaction. Dean came in and wouldn’t let Cameron explain that Ruby fell off the bed and that’s why she was in a disheveled state. That’s where his voyeur k!nk came from.

it took me forever to get around to reading this book, as well as finishing it once i started. now this had nothing to do with the book itself because, despite my doubts regarding the premise, what with the MMCs being married and having children, i really liked the story. but i don't know. i kept getting distracted and pulled in by other books so it took me a while.
now i really enjoyed the story, the smut was gooood, and i loved the happy ending for everyone involved BUT... there's a but... i feel like cameron had a lot less private, 1-on-1 time with ruby and just in general he was overshadowed by dean, he came across as though he was secondary to him, and i didn't find that to be fair. in a setup like this, especially the one depicted in this book, the MMCs should get equal alone time with the FMC before before things shift into the group dynamic.
so i'm giving 3 stars, because overall the story didn't wow me, and cameron deserved better!!
This Jessa Kane steamy novella is in the same theme family as her The Husband Sitter, so.... ifykyk. Both of these stories are good if you like this sort of thing, and there is the ubiquitous for this author daddy-lite roleplay kink that I love (and would always take more of!) as well as some other interesting ones since this one is MFM. Would happily read more of this theme but then again, this is my favorite dirty short writer so I'll read anything by her.
This hot and seductive from the beginning to end. They were both in love with her since college and when their wives recognized her and reconnected them with her they fell got her again and had an adventure with her and in the end they both got to love her forever with the blessings of their wives.
