Lincoln ‘Linc’ Hayes Jr. and Simone ‘Moni’ Evans were raised by their fathers after the death of their mothers. That was where the similarities ended.
Linc came from a wealthy family in Staten Island, New York. He never experienced a financial struggle, but he was very familiar with emotional struggles. His relationship with his father, Senior, was doomed from the start. The death of his mother broke their already fragile foundation.
Meanwhile, Moni lived in a one-bedroom apartment with her father in North Philadelphia. What they lacked in finances, they made up for in love. Derrick Evans has worked tirelessly to provide for his daughter. After the death of his wife, his only goal was to make all of her dreams come true.
Linc and Moni meet at Blake University on move-in day. Their first encounter proved to be less than impressive. It was clear they had very different goals. Moni promptly labeled Linc off-limits. But at nineteen, do you ever listen to that tiny voice?
There is so much going on in this book, and it's super entertaining. If you're looking for something quick that's drama-filled, then pick this one up for sure.
I truly enjoyed this book & was so happy that Senior was able to experience love again before he closed his eyes!!!… My anger soared when I found out that Teresa was indulging with Linc and acting like she wasn’t married to his father!!!…I was even my angrier with Linc because he destroyed a WHOLE relationship Moni to continue to live in denial with Teresa as if she wasn’t married to his father!!!…Both of them, just nasty!!!… It’s crazy how your children have an image in their mind of what grieving looks like!!!… Senior did his big one with Moni and LJ and what a blessing he was to them both!!!…He experienced a joy with the birth of his grandson and I was glad his grandson had an opportunity to experience him!!!… I’m glad Rah and Moni was able to experience love with each other too!!!… I hope Linc is healing, so that he can experience love too!!!…
Yes, yes, yes, this standalone is so lit. My girl Moni grew on me. I really thought that her and linc were gonna make it. It's said Lincoln had a predator of a step mom. I hated that he didn't know how to get himself out of it. Senior turned out to be a good man. He loved grandson to the fullest. What he couldn't do with his son, he did it to his grandson. I had that he passed away, but he gave that baby three good years of life he had left. U did good on yet another book and I'm looking forward to reading more of them. Sitting here patting my feet while sipping on Pepsi and while eating popcorn while waiting on the next book to read
Moni went through so much in the beginning of her college career. Lincoln Senior became her saving grace. Linc did not have his life together as far as wanting to be in a relationship. His thing with Teresa was crazy. Melvina was heaven sent for everyone. Moni couldn't have gotten accepted into a better bonus family. LJ was the highlight of everyone's world, especially Senior. This was a very interesting read!
I was pleasantly surprised by all the twists in this story. All the characters showed a lot of growth. Moni had a lot of disappointment, but with her found family, she kept fighting.
This book was a first from this author and it is a really good read!! I’m just confused on how Rah ended up with Moni. What happened with him and Sinclair? Other than that the book is a must read
This book had me in tears. I never expected Senior to change and then die from cancer. I feel it for Linc but he should not have had an affair with his father's wife. She got what she deserved. I am happy for Moni and Rah. Great Read!
I feel like this book needed a trigger warning for child mólestatiön because Linc was STILL a child at 17yrs old when Theresa started SA’ing him but it was glossed over because he’s a male.
Omg , now this how you end a book! It was absolutely amazing from beginning to the end. I loved every character and wish them all the best. LJ is a special kid.
This was a great story. I had two issues and they were best friends crossing lines with the other person the other friend dated and had a child with and a child sleeping with their parent's spouse NASTY and disheartened.
In the end I don't know if Rah was the better man, I thought he was into Sinclair. But I guess did come around
