I lost my mother. My bakery is failing. And most days I’m barely holding myself together.
My friends, as crazy as they can be, refuse to let me drown. They push me to get help and step in to save the bakery. Noah even gives me a list of changes and things to improve. If I follow his plan everything may work out. One of the changes is hiring part-time help.
That’s when Aiden walks in looking for a job.
He’s quiet, closed off, and moody in a way that makes him impossible to read.
But somehow with him around things start to change. The bakery begins to feel alive again. I begin to remember why I loved baking in the first place.
And Aiden . . .
For the first time in a long time, I feel something. Something that is very hard for me to find. My friends say I’m picky. I’m looking for a unicorn, but that’s not right. I’m just looking for a feeling, and that’s what I’ve found in him.
Passion. Heat. A rush that leaves me breathless.
But there’s more to Aiden than the cold mask he shows the world. Underneath all the ice in bite is a sad man who craves the same things I do. Or maybe that’s what I want to see. My friends try to warn me. I can’t deny there’s danger.
I just don’t know if it’s the good kind, or the kind of danger that will set my life on fire and burn everything I’ve rebuilt to the ground.
Aiden
My life has always been about following orders.
First from the men my mother brought into my life. Then from the man who holds my sisters life in his hands. When my mother died she left behind two things. Me, and my little sister.
She’s the only thing that matters to me.
One more job. That’s all I need to do before we’re finally free.
Freedom, it turns out, isn’t as simple as It sounds.
I take a job at a struggling bakery to keep my head down and finish what I started. The owner is stressed out, chaotic . . . and ridiculously handsome.
But none of that matters.
It can’t.
There’s too much on the line for me to get distracted, especially by the way my chest tightens every time he looks at me. Or the rush of heat that fills my stomach when his starry eyes are on me.
This was supposed to be simple.
Then the lies start unraveling.
Secrets come to light. Betrayal cuts deeper than expected. Add in Sawyer’s chaotic friends, a notorious mob family, and . . . a giant mountain man in a pink crop top, everything I worked for begins to implode.
Now everything is falling apart.
And I’m not sure either of us will survive the fall out.
I was so freaking excited for baker booty’s story and wow Sophie did not disappoint. Sawyer is such an amazing character and I loved getting to know more about him. Seeing him open up and his friendship with Noah grow was probably one of my favorite parts. Sawyer needed support going through all these changes and there’s no better supporter than Noah. I’ll be honest I really didn’t like Aiden the first probably 50% of the book. The deception hurt my heart for Sawyer. But the more Aiden opened up and fell for Sawyer the more I loved his character. He’s just a broken boy who’s afraid to trust and love. Their HEA was so well deserved. I do gotta say though Noah steals the show for me in every book. He is the best supporting character and the chapters towards the end with Devlin had me giggling. I’m really curious to see how Devlin and Elijah from Midnight Ink play into other books that Sophie has coming up. I rather loved Devlins hopelessly devoted energy.

Thank you so much, Sophie Quinn, for the ARC! This book was SO much more than what I expected! I hadn’t read the other books in the series, so I went in blind! Each character was so unique and it was emotional learning their backstories.
Sawyer, grieving his mother’s death, is trying his best to keep up with his bakery. Through what seems like mere chance, he meets Aiden, and their whirlwind romance and working partnership begins.
Aiden has a rough exterior because his survival counts on it. I deeply felt for Aiden and his trauma, as well as his unwavering love for his sister. Aiden has not experienced love like Sawyer’s. I am so glad for the character development because he deserves nothing but affection!
The conflict of the story packs a real punch that I wasn’t ready for! Sophie definitely kept me on the edge of my seat. No one touches my sweet boys!!
Also, the found family trope was incredible. Sawyer’s friends are hilarious, yet willing to go to bat for him no matter what.
Very excited to see where this series goes, especially with how it ended!
Apparently I am the best at thinking I wrote a review on Goodreads only to find out later, I must have dreamt I did instead. I was able to obtain an ARC from the author in exchange for my honest review. This is finally that review I dreamed about.
I was a little wary going into this book for a couple of reasons. First was because I hadn't read any of the previous books in the series. Second was because I have never before read a book of Sophie Quinn's. Both of these cautions were quickly thrown out the window because what I read made me want to go back and read the previous books immediately as well as look for more of her books to come. Let me say that you do not have to read the previous books in this series before you read this one, but you will get background information on all the players in the book. This way when certain things get talked about you will know what it is in reference to.
This book gives you so many questions that you want answers to immediately, but instead you just keep getting more questions. What is so special about this ugly statue? Why did Jane & Sawyer's mother not want an obituary so badly? Why is the bakery not more popular when Sawyer is such a mastermind at creating such decadent deserts? Don't worry though because those questions and the many more questions you may have will get answered. Just don't expect it right away cause you have to work for it.
Much like the relationship that develops between Sawyer and Aiden, you don't get what you want right away. This is a hard fought for, hard won, HEA and I am so grateful for that. There is so many secrets that Aiden holds close that can break the relationship he is slowly starting to build with Sawyer. This secret is one he keeps because he is trying to protect his siblings. He wants to keep them safe even though he, in my humble opinion, pretends to not care for Koda that much. It's all lies though as he cares deeply. Aiden is a broken mess of a man who has never really known love. He keeps to himself and is a grumpy gus and glares at people like it is a sport. Underneath this tough exterior is just a man trying to survive.
Sawyer, on the other hand, has always known love. Between his mom, who he is grieving at this time, his sister and his group of friends who have become his family, he is truly loved. Found family is a big theme throughout the series as well as this book in particular. Sawyer really leans on his friends at this time. Noah is especially a big part of getting Sawyer through things. He is a big help in getting the bakery, that Sawyer owns, lots of business. Although Hunter is the best friend, Sawyer relies on Noah as he feels like he cannot talk to Hunter about what is going on with Aiden.
Sawyer wants a real relationship with feelings and everything else that comes with it. At times he is jealous of his friends and their relationships. Aiden falls for Sawyer slowly and takes care of him when he is sick. Sawyer takes care of Aiden when he is hurting. Eventually the drama really starts to unfold and you are left scrambling to figure out what in the world just happened? It is chaos for a little while starting around 75% of the way in, and although it is a wild ride it sure is an interesting one.
Don't worry though if you are someone who likes a good dose of spice in your books. We get some amazing steamy scenes but I appreciate that it doesn't overwhelm the plot of the story.
Aiden and Sawyer deserve all the love, care, and hugs they could ever want. Aiden especially has gone through and does go through some tough moments. He breaks my heart and does not deserve to have that much pressure on him to protect those around him. These two are precious and I love how Sawyer takes care of him
Hidden Bonds was definitely a great addition to the series! It’s clever, it’s funny, it’s sweet, it has the pain, the angst and the yearning. You get the pining, wanting to giggle and kick your feet from their slight brushes, accidental touches and tension together when they try not to mean it. You get the hurt and the healing.
This whole series does the found family trope extremely well. It all feels very organic how everyone comes together and you see the love in the group. How they depend and rely on each other to bring them out of their own darkness. Lend a helping hand without any questions. It really is a true family. Every scene when they’re all together will have you cackling! With strip poker ofcourse. The Winnie the Pooh references from past books always get me laughing.
I honestly like every single character in this series, but I was surprised I liked Aiden so much and is now a favorite! (Noah will always be my number 1 though!) I loved the complicated combination of his character, being so outwardly grumpy and sometimes unintentionally rude, but possessive this ability to “quietly love” that he gives his whole heart to it. Also unintentionally. When I think of Aiden, my main thought is Gorgeous Resting Bitch Face with a good heart. “I think I found the light” was a great line!
I that it was refreshing how some of what happens and how their roles were did not go how you expected. Sawyer can be a freak!!! I liked that he pushes somewhat, but is the comfort that Aiden needs. They’re both such strong characters in different ways but fit so well together. Koda was awesome as well! I hope we get a book from him in the future. Cam’s shiny personality came out more in this book and I was happy to see it. Such a sweet golden retriever. Noah, is and will always be that CHAOTIC BALL OF SUNSHINE and I couldn’t love it more! It’s like he holds everyone together and Mark gives a really good explanation for this. I can’t say enough good things about Noah. Devlin, I’m kind of not sure what to think as of now.
From mid to end, I remember screaming “goddammit” every time I went through Aiden’s POV, stopping for a seconds to take a breathe. Random sentences and paragraphs hit you out of nowhere, then you get a little misty eyed. So it definitely gets your emotions involved. Really enjoyed this book. I hope to read more of Noah and their little family!
I’ve never in my entire life craved frosting the way I did during this book and yes, I definitely mean that in a sexual context.
The twists and turns were non-stop. I loved how Sophie created such complex layers for both Aiden and Sawyer. This book also had such a beautiful focus on grief. Losing anyone is hard, but losing a parent who was your rock is next-level, especially when they had such a stunning mother-son relationship. She’s the reason Sawyer got into baking and the reason he finally takes the risk to accept help from his silly, unserious, goofy bestie, Noah. (The man who I’m pretty sure doesn’t own a full-length shirt. Not complaining!)
CUE our grumpy, jaded storm cloud of a man, Aiden.
AH, this man had me absolutely drooling at his toxicity. Red flags? Who needs red? All I see is a man so loyal he’s willing to let the only person he’s ever had feelings for slip through his fingers. He’s trapped in a dark family that wants to keep him locked in the shadows for their unlawful activities, and he would do anything, even ruin his only shot at happiness, just to save his sister.
Speaking of family, I love how this group of friends is perfectly intertwined from the past books without making it feel like you're missing giant chunks. It really highlights the importance of having people in your corner who will truly stand by you.
And oh, sweet, sweet Sawyer... how I LOOOOOVED him!
He is the definition of an introvert who just wants to make sweet treats, keep his cafe, and find that heart-pounding, "made to exist for each other" kind of love. It’s not just the sexual draw; it’s the pure intimacy of falling for the right person. Like when Sawyer falls ill and Aiden just happens to cook him soup from scratch, cleans his house, and spends the day watching cooking shows with him. Swoon. That’s exactly what he’s looking for, and he might have just found it. BUT THAT’S NOT ALL!!!
You guys, the way this book had me questioning EVERYTHING by the end was SHOCKING. I truly thought I had it all figured out, and then Sophie blew my mind. It was so beautifully written and kept me swooning, grumbling under my breath, and drooling at the spice. I can’t wait to see what happens next!
Intro: This book is an MM romance between Sawyer, a bakery owner trying his best to manage it all and Aiden, a man stuck in his current abusive circumstances looking for a way out
Likes: -Chaotic/protective friend group, Noah is my favorite -Different desserts -Plot twist -Care taking/small acts of love -Aiden's defensive yet protective nature, quiet love -Supportive relationship dynamics through secondary characters -Bakery business
Neutrals/Criticisms: -Some of the writing felt clunky -Didn't like the addition of Devlin, felt rushed/underdeveloped and a little weird -Pacing was slow for me/some things were repetitive
Quotes: -"That feeling you get where the world fades away and the person you're meant for is all you see" -"I don't want to be cruel, even if sometimes circumstances require it of me" -"I don't need perfect. I just need perfect for me" -"I want someone to look at me like I'm everything they've ever needed" -"I want your heart, but you can't keep hurting mine" -"Breathe through the power of friendship. I'm not letting go"
This is the first book I have read from this author and it is the fourth book in the series. The first half was pretty solid and I enjoyed the developing relationship between the MCs but the last quarter of the book fell flat for me. It felt a little rushed and not as well developed as the first. I think it is best to start with book one, but this can be read as a standalone. Sawyer is sweet and a little shy, but he is also hard-working and hides a spark beneath all his sweetness. Aiden is a secret sweetheart who pushes everyone away and builds walls around his heart because he's never known love. I loved watching Aiden fall in love against his will and be adopted into the crazy/fun friend group. You may like this book if you are looking for sweet characters, loving/protective friends, a hidden edge of danger and finding a place to belong.
To say I was excited for this book is an understatement. I needed Bakery Booty🧁 and Angry Aiden in my life, and let me tell you, Angry Aiden did not disappoint.
This one leans heavily into hurt/comfort, and Aiden’s story honestly hurt. From neglectful parents to basically being unpaid labor for his abusive stepfather, adjacent sorta?, he’s been dealt a terrible hand. Getting more insight into his guarded, cash-only lifestyle added so much depth to his character.
And then there’s Sawyer. We already know and love him from earlier books, and after that failed date with Bo, I was rooting HARD for him to finally get his HEA. Between losing his mother and trying to handle his business alone, he’s been carrying so much, and it shows. 😢
What really worked for me here was the slow burn. Watching Aiden figure out who he is and what love can look like was emotional in the best way. At the same time, seeing Sawyer finally let his guard down and allow himself to be vulnerable? Yeah… that had me in my feelings.
The angst is definitely there, but it’s the good kind just enough to keep you hooked without being overwhelming. I almost got frustrated during the big conflict, but then I had to pause and admit… maybe I’m the problem because I didn’t think it was that bad 😅
The drama was .... Very much giving telenovela energy, and I ate it UP. I couldn't put it down because I neeeeeded to know what happened next
Finally, my good people, can we talk about our baby Noah?! If you thought you loved him before, think again. He was absolutely hilarious in this one and truly feels like the glue holding everyone together. The found family vibes were strong, and I loved getting more of the whole crew.
Overall, this was everything I wanted and more. That ending had me smiling and kicking my feet like an idiot.
I had the absolute honor of doing a Beta read for this perfect book and I cannot stop thinking about Sawyer and Aiden....and always Noah with his clever names for all of his people. Sawyer is struggling. From the loss of his mother to his bakery that is barely staying afloat he is just trying his hardest to keep it together. With the help of his friends to reinvent his bakery's image and the hope to attract more customers he needs to hire staff. What he doesn't anticipate applying for the help wanted position is Aiden. Aiden is as prickly and guarded as one can get but Sawyer is immediately drawn to this beautiful man. Aiden has had a rough life, stuck in an impossible situation he will stop at nothing to protect his sister. He was promised one last job and he will be free. But when Sawyer rewires his brain he somehow loses sight of doing a "job" and wanting to be in Sawyer's orbit as much as possible even though he hates it. Sawyer is looking for his happily ever after, so tired of toxic dates and seeing his friends find their partners when Aiden rocks his world, he tries to fight it but has fallen for this touch starved, damaged man. And Aiden has never known love but Sawyer is everything he thought he could never have. I love their passion for each other - it is off the charts hot and the struggle Aiden has to be honest with his feelings for Sawyer is gut wrenching! You will absolutely fall in love with both of these men! Every book in this series somehow has me wanting more. The love I have for these characters and their found family of amazing friends is endless. The way they step up for each other is so inspiring! I cannot wait until the next installment and what nickname Noah comes up with next!
I absolutely ate this book up. There was angst, romance, laughs, and….a giant dumbass in a pink crop top.
I recently finished Splintered Hearts and just so happened to see ARC applications were open for Hidden Bonds while I was reading book 1. Since I went to Hidden Bonds straight from Splintered Hearts I was nervous about missing some important plot background and luckily that wasn’t the case. I know that there are a handful of scenes that would be BETTER if I had read the other books but I didn’t feel like I was missing out. Though I do plan to go back to read Mark, Hunter, Cam and Bo’s stories.
Hidden Bonds was such a good read—I thoroughly enjoyed this one.
Aiden and Sawyer completely stole my heart. They come from totally different worlds...Aiden is guarded, closed off, and used to surviving on his own, while Sawyer just wants that soft, movie-worthy kind of love. Watching those two somehow meet in the middle was honestly so sweet.
It’s the little things that got me… Aiden making soup when Sawyer wasn’t feeling great, Sawyer always having Aiden’s favourite mint and chocolate treats ready, just so cute.
Their journey isn’t perfect—it’s a bit rocky at times—but it felt real. They had to figure things out, learn each other, and grow into something that worked for both of them.
I also really felt for both of them individually. Sawyer dealing with grief while trying to keep his bakery going, and Aiden carrying so much trauma while still showing up for his sister… it added a lot of emotional depth to their story.
The side characters were such a highlight too—Noah and his chaos and honestly, the whole found family vibe was everything. You can tell these people would go to war for each other.
There’s also a moment of conflict that genuinely caught me off guard and had me stressed, which I loved. It kept things interesting and made me even more invested.
Overall, this was sweet, emotional, and full of heart. Great characters, great chemistry, and a story that pulls you in. I’m definitely excited to see where the series goes next… and I need a Devlin book
Just finished Hidden Bonds by Sophie Quinn and honestly I loved it so much 🥹
The whole bakery setting was so cozy and cute. Sawyer and Aiden completely stole my heart. And Sawyer’s weird little friend group??? I loved them so much 😭 They never felt fake. They were always there for Sawyer when he needed someone. Noah and his ridiculous nicknames had me laughing every time 😂
And Aiden… omg. That tough act of his is such a lie. Poor man just needs love 😭 He’s on this secret mission but the second he’s with Sawyer he forgets everything else lol. You can tell his feelings are real. No huge dramatic gestures, but the way he cares for Sawyer says everything. Sawyer, his brother, his sister… he really loves them.
Also Ivan??? I hate that man. He was so cruel.
The story starts off super cute and cozy, then slowly the tension between Sawyer and Aiden starts building and I was tensed a little.😭 But the spice was really good tho 🙊 And then with the rescue part things became fun again and I loved that balance. And that plot twist??? OMG. So good. And no, the story is definitely not only about that damn elephant 😂
One of my favorite parts was when Aiden needed help and the only person he went to was Sawyer. That honestly made me sad because it showed how alone he really is.
Bakery booty and his sugar bear own my whole heart 🥹
Also that ending has me SO curious about Devlin now 😭
✨ Read if you like MM romance Found family Hidden motives Touch starved MC Hurt/comfort Pastry chef / bakery setting
Sawyer has had a shitty year, he had to sell his bakery to help pay medical costs for his dying mother. When she passes away Sawyer and his sister Jane sell her house and all that is left is a handful of trinkets, papers, and an ugly elephant statue that his mother adored. Sawyer has started up a new bakery but it is slowly dying. Customers are few and far between and he is working himself to death. His friends rally to help bring in more customers by setting up events such as a Valentine’s Day speed dating event. Sawyer hires Aiden part time after he walks into the bakery one day, but he has no idea that Aiden walking into his store was no coincidence. Aiden has never felt happy, never felt wanted except by Sawyer. The more time they spend together the deeper Aiden falls, but he is on a mission. His half sister is being used as a weapon against him by her own father Ivan. If Aiden stands any chance of getting his sister away from her scumbag father he needs to betray the only person who has ever made him feel whole.
I loved the dynamic between the MMC’s, the push and pull was infuriating but oh so good! Aiden just needed to be loved and Sawyer wanted to love him how he needed it. Noah absolutely stole it for me. He is hilarious, the whole friendship group was so perfect and I love how they all rallied for Sawyer. I was pissing myself laughing at the banter! Really enjoyed this book.
“While this feels complicated, the truth is very simple. I love him.”
okay, this book had my sweet tooth ACHING. not only between the actual sweet treats mentioned, but the sweet moments between alllll of the characters in the book. im glad we got to see everyone (not just the MC’s) being all cute together (even tho poor Sawyer was definitely jealous of it at first)
sooo. Sawyer is a pastry chef with an ugly ass elephant sculpture that somehow causes so much drama that this asswipe named Ivan is willing to draw blood over it. in comes Aiden, Ivan’s little pawn (not by choice) who needs to figure out how to get his hands on the sculpture. one thing leads to another, Aiden begins working for Sawyer at Moonlight Confections (his bakery), and feelings between them begin to grow. wait.. feelings? no.. no way. not Aiden. Aiden doesn’t do feelings.. 👀
i gotta say, i was entertained THE WHOLE TIME. my fave thing about this world is that yeah, shit can get heavy… but shit can equally be just completely unserious and ridiculous and I LOVE IT. not only were there plot twists I didn’t expect, but now i wanna know what kind of ‘Daddy’ Noah would nickname me. 🤔
some tidbits: 🍰 hurt x comfort 🍰 found family 🍰 bakery booty 🍑 🍰 touch starved MC 🍰 DEVLIN 😅 🍰 hidden motives 🍰 a bit of spice 🌶️
I am going to say out of all of Sophie’s books, I think that’s this one just might be my absolute favorite. It had a little bit of everything from making me laugh, being in my emotions and just wanting so much more.
Sawyer and Aiden were such a fun time. I will Sophie is probably one of those authors that does found family so well that you only want more from them.
Noah and his nicknames for everyone had me giggling. Bakery Booty is probably one of the best names I’ve ever read but I loved Noah and Sawyer’s friendship was exactly what Noah needed.
Aiden - this poor guy has definitely been through it and I just wanted to hug him. All he wanted to do was to save his sister and the turmoil he went through to get it was rough. My favorite part was when Sawyer took care of him when he got hurt.
The way that this touch starved man leaned on Sawyer was so beautiful. I love how he finally opened up. That chapter when Sawyer tracks him down and takes care of him - ugh, my heart.
Devlin had me giggling from the over the top flirting with Noah not even carrying he was with Jamie. If you need a good laugh, look for Devlin because he had me giggling every time he was brought into the picture.
I cannot wait for this next book!
I received a copy of this book and this is my honest review.
This is the 4th book in the Splintered Hearts series BUT no pressshhhh because this can be read as a standalone 👀 although I HIGHLY recommend starting with book 1
If you saw my last post you already know my brain reads every book in a series like a new season of my favourite sitcom 😭 so this season we’re getting Sawyer and Aiden 😏
Are both men troubled in their own way? yes… yes absolutely.
Sawyer is the owner of a failing bakery while grieving the loss of his mom and thankfully Sawyer’s village aka his besties from the Splintered Hearts series help Sawyer through one of the hardest times in his life 🥹
Then enter Aiden into the chat…
Aiden is basically a prisoner in his own life and all he wants is freedom for himself and his little sister. A chance for her to actually be a safe carefree kid. So when the man holding his life in his hands offers him an opportunity to make that happen, he takes it. Quick job. In and out.
Now you already know where I’m going with this 😏
Sawyer and Aiden… love at first sight? maybeeeee 👀 okay maybe a little one sided for now 😭
And Aiden?? our 2026 emotional support Shrek because this man has LAYERS 😭👀 iynyk
I genuinely can’t say too much BUT THE PLOT TWIST BE TWISTING IN THIS ONE YA’LL 😭
The found family is also still a 10/10 as always 😭 every book somehow feels like coming back to the same comfort cast while still giving you a new couple to obsess over.
Hidden Bonds is book 4 in the Splintered Hearts series by Sophie Quinn. This book focuses on Aiden and Sawyer.
Sawyer is a bakery owner trying to make his shop more successful. After losing his mother, he struggles to get his business afloat so he puts out a sign for a help.
Aiden is in a tough spot. His mother is dead and his step father is brutal towards him. He only puts up with it to protect his brother and sister. He is asked to basically spy on Sawyer to find something that is valuable to his stepfather. What he doesn’t expect is to fall in love with Sawyer.
Sawyer and Aiden’s relationship is very complicated. Sawyer is technically Aiden’s boss, which creates a small power imbalance. Aiden is also very much anti-love and anti- relationship which is the complete opposite of Sawyer. Sawyer is desperately looking a relationship and someone to share the more intimate parts of life with. He wants a connection that feels life changing. Unfortunately he finds that in Aiden who is very hesitant and for good reasons.
This book had so much hurt/comfort that I just wanted to wrap both these men up in a blanket and give them the love they deserve.
I absolutely love the found family in this book and all the tender moments out MMC’s share.
Oh how I missed these guys. Was so excited to finally get Sawyer's story. The parts we seen of him during our other MCs in previous books I knew his story was going to be good. I wanted his happy ending like nobody's business. With everything that Sawyer is going through, the lost of his mother, a business that is struggling, and a failing love life all I wanted was him to have his person just like all his friends. And this brings us to our wonderfully angry Aiden.
Aiden is no stranger to a hard life. From his awful mother who pretty much abandoned him to his shitty stepfather? His half sister's dad, who uses his sister against him in order to do his bidding.
Aiden never planned to fall in love and he is not good with romance, and Sawyer never pictured himself falling in love with someone like Aiden but love never plans out how you think it will. Watching these two navigate through their different personalities and over come so many bumps in the road is so well done and I'm glad they both get such a happy ending and a partner that will truly cherish them and provide the love and support they need.
The drama in this book was perfect and I can not get over Noah. I swear each book I just love him more and more. Oh and that ended. I need the next book like now please?!
Oh my God! I was SO excited for Aiden and Sawyer’s story!
Sawyer completely stole my heart from the very first moment, and watching him try to hold himself and the bakery together while grieving his mother’s death… ahh… 💔
His friendship with Noah? Chef’s kiss. Honestly, Noah stole the show every single time he appeared, but I kinda expected that — that boy is a total menace 😭
And while I wish I could say I loved Aiden from the start, I’d be lying, because uhh… at times I really wanted to hit him, especially since my heart was absolutely breaking for Sawyer. But the more we got to know him, the more I understood him. And yes… watching him slowly fall for Sawyer? 🥹 that was everything to me.
The spice was insanely good, as were the emotional parts, and the found family dynamic — which is basically the backbone of every Sophie book, so I didn’t expect anything less.
And that drama… oh my God! I was reading and reading and suddenly: WHAT??? 😭 I was so stressed I can’t even explain it. That twist… what even was that??
Overall, the book was emotional, a little chaotic, sometimes painful, soft in the best way, and I absolutely loved it.
I absolutely love the splintered hearts series! I found Sophie Quinn this past fall and I’m so glad I did. I love love love her writing. These group of sweethearts are just amazing and each story so unique, each one overcoming personal things and still genuinely good despite the hard stuff they’ve been through.
This one is Sawyer & Aiden’s story.
Sawyer hires Aiden at his struggling bakery, sparking unexpected passion, but Aiden’s dangerous and hidden agenda threaten to destroy everything they’re building together.
Sawyer has the most amazing friends and they sure show up for him and help get his bakery up and going and out into the social world. Aiden is deep down a sweet soul with great intentions and just wants what’s best for his sister. He portrays this hard shell exterior but deep down he just wants freedom from the chains his (stepfather) holds him in by threatening to keep his little sister from him if he doesn’t do what he’s told. My heart hurt so much for Aiden because he’s never experienced love or to be in love. I don’t want to give too much away but Sawyer & Aiden are perfect for each other and after reading this you’ll see why
I have to be honest, I think Sawyer & Aiden have taken the number one spot and have become my ult favorite couple from the series—the rest of the posse I still love them down boots but something about those two just did something extra to my heart. Loved them so much!
Sawyer recently opened up his new bakery; he had to sell his old location after the passing of his mom. He doesn’t have much foot traffic so with the help of Noah and the rest of his homies they decided to plan a Valenslay night to get more customers to his bakery. While having his friends over at his bakery Aiden comes in to buy some treats for his little sister and even with his stoic attitude and grumpy gaze Sawyer can’t help but to feel some things towards him.
Aiden wasn’t raised around love, he had to grow up quickly and protect those who he loves even if it means always taking the fall and abuse. Sawyer comes in a shows him a whole different world with emotions he’s never felt but it’s not easy especially when you feel like you aren’t worth it. Sawyer thinks otherwise—it’s a rollercoaster ride towards their happy ever after. Worth it!
First I wanted to give a huge thanks to Sophie Quinn for allowing me to read Hidden Bonds early in exchange for a honest review. Hidden Bonds releases on May 8
We follow Aiden and Sawyer. Sawyer is struggling. He lost his mother and his bakery is slowly falling apart. I loved Sawyer so much. He never asked anyone for help, he always helped others out and definitely deserves his HEA. Aiden- what a broken soul. I mean literally his whole story had me balling. I related so much to him in his tough times. 💔
I loved the dynamic between Sawyer and his friends. They always had his back and I love how chaotic they all were. It was just such a great close knit group of friends. Aiden’s relationship with his sister was beautiful. He kept her safe and would legit do anything for her.
The found family trope was well executed. I have to go back and read the other books because I definitely loved each character and need to see more!
Overall such a roller coaster of emotions. Happy, sad, WTF pretty much sums it all up. My rating 4.0/5⭐️
Hidden Bonds by Sophie Quinn is an absolute 5-star read that completely stole my heart. From start to finish, this story had me hooked with its emotional depth, compelling storyline, and unforgettable characters.
Aiden and Sawyer? Truly chef’s kiss. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the way their relationship develops feels both authentic and deeply moving. Every interaction between them is filled with tension, tenderness, and just the right amount of angst to keep you turning the pages.
Sophie Quinn does a fantastic job of balancing romance with emotional growth, giving us characters who feel real and relatable. Aiden and Sawyer’s journey is one of connection, trust, and vulnerability, and it’s impossible not to root for them every step of the way.
If you’re a fan of heartfelt romance with incredible character dynamics and swoon-worthy moments, Hidden Bonds is a must-read. I couldn’t put it down!
I’m honestly not sure what I just read. The first half was solid—it held my attention, and I genuinely enjoyed the angst between the MMCs. But once the “moment of truth” hit, the story started to feel weirdly rushed and tonally off. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. To be fair, this is my first book in the series and I know it’s book four, so I’m sure I was missing some context. Still, I spent a lot of time wondering how the main characters—and especially the prominent side characters who seem tied to earlier books—fit into Aiden’s subplot here. The core premise was intriguing and the plot was engaging, but the “rescue” sequence felt oddly executed and poorly articulated. The third-act breakup also didn’t land for me: Sawyer’s reaction felt disproportionate, only for everything to be resolved a few pages later. Overall, this had a lot of promise, but the execution didn’t feel as clear or as thoughtfully built as it needed to be.
Touch starved and broody Aiden meets an overworked and grieving Sawyer who’s unable to ask for help. But when they stumble across a connection neither of them can escape or ignore, will their bond stay hidden or be explored? While I hadn’t read any other books in this series before this one, I didn’t feel left out or in the dark. Albeit I was a little slow to catch on to all the other characters names and relationships, but that’s a given.
“His love isn’t loud. Aiden loves me quietly. And I wouldn’t change it for anything”
Ughh I love a love that isn’t overly flowery and has roots in real life issues.
The way they fit together and use each other’s strengths to support where the other may fall flat is so real and rich. Obviously we can’t forget the scorching heat between the two MMC’s 🥵🥵🥵
All in all I will definitely be binging the earlier books in this series! Thank you again Sophie for the advance copy!
My heart hurts that it’s over. I loved this book so much!
This heartfelt, emotional romance is about Sawyer and Aiden finding love when they least expect it. Sawyer is grieving his mom and struggling with his bakery, and Aiden is trapped in a situation, guarded, and closed off.
I loved seeing Sawyer finally letting his guard down and helping Aiden understand what he was feeling to build their relationship. There were some parts that made me emotional and I’m just so happy they were able to get their HEA.
Also, how can we forget Noah.. still our crazy smut obsessed bookworm! (He’s my baby so I had to mention him lol)
There is strong chemistry, deep feelings, found family vibes, and a healing love story that leaves you wanting to dive into the next book! I would definitely check your CWs as this book has some heavy topics!
This was a good read! I enjoyed Aiden and his complicated circumstances and Sawyer and his sweets. These two were from completely different worlds but had so much in common and I liked seeing them come together. Aiden has spent his whole life guarded and not interested in letting anyone in and Sawyer just wanted his movie kind of love. These two meeting and falling for each other even with their different takes was kind of adorable. Aiden making soup to help Sawyer feel better and Sawyer making sure to have Aiden’s favorite mint and chocolate baked goodies in stock was so cute. Their journey was a little rocky but they figured it out along the way and it was nice to see.
The writing was great, the story held my interest and the side characters were a good time! Love Noah and his chaos and I’m intrigued by what may be next!
I just finished Sophie's latest in the "Splintered Hearts " series Hidden Bonds, which finally gives Sawyer the spotlight and his HEA. First before I talk about the rest of the book first off DEVLIN, that's all I will say when you read it you will know. Now to Sawyer and Aidens story, Sawyer has seen everyone he knows find love and he himself hasnt been that lucky. Until one day Aiden walks into Sawyers bakery and Sawyer is smitten. What he doesn't know is that Aiden has a secret agenda and when Sawyer finds out it is going to change everything. Will Aiden and Sawyer be able to get through this or will Sawyer be heartbroken once again. With Sawyers found family Noah, Jamie, Hunter, Mark, Cam and Bo things are certain to be interesting. Get your copy May 8 and find out. #arcreader #mlm #splinteredhearts #kindleunlimited @sophiequinnwrites
Another 5 star read from Sophie Quinn I loved the dynamic between Sawyer & Aiden. I'm all for an insta-live story but this wasn't quite that.... More less insta-interest. You have Sawyer who's in a slump because his mom has just passed away. He's quiet and shy, and lonely and he wants to feel the "zing". Then you have Aiden, the true definition of grumpy. He's blunt, closed off and anti love.... Until he meets our Sawyer. Aiden is in an in an impossible situation, and tasked with doing the wrong things for the right reason. Along the way, the two fall for each other. Their path to each is not easy and there are some sensitive topics so you'll want to read the TW/CW to make sure it's a safe book for you.
