The Last Whisper

Rate this book
The Butler City Fire Chief, also recently elected as County Sheriff, decides to get out of town for a few days, with no particular destination in mind. He ditches his phone, grabs some available cash, trades his beloved truck in on a nondescript sedan, and heads south.

Becoming bored with driving on the straight roads and eating in the depressed small towns he goes through, Chief Alfred decides to increase the speed of his travel. A random billboard near Houston provides an idea, and he soon finds himself on a flight to a destination he didn’t intend.

He does his best to disappear into a new country, staying on the move and making every decision on a whim. The one question he doesn’t ask himself is why does it appear that he seems to be running away?

Chief Alfred is a narcissistic person whose middle name should be graft. Well written giving a picture of Costa Rica for all who haven't visited. Interesting twist in that once Chief Alfred can assume another identity to get back to Butler, suddenly wants to be back. Huh? Love the cover!
