Jaded Hearts

Signing with Brighthouse Records was supposed to be everything we ever wanted—our better life. Our chance at everything we never had but always wanted. All our dreams would finally come true and we were on top of the world. It was our chance at the happiness we never had in life.

Our every desire was at our fingertips and the power of that feeling was all consuming. But then it took every dream we thought would come true and it slapped us in the face with the cold hard reality.

Dreams were just that…something that floated on the cusp of untouchable, taunting you with every graze of your fingertips before slipping even further away.

Happiness…that feeling is a joke.

In the end it became painfully obvious that each of us would always have each other, but we would forever be alone.

*Jaded Hearts is the first book in the Loaded Replay series.*

4 stars!!!

I am a fan of all things Harper Sloan, so when I heard she was releasing a rock star book, I jumped right in. Jaded Hearts has Chance, Cohen’s friend and roommate from the Hopetown series, and Wrenlee Davenport, the lead singer of Loaded Replay. I loved that Chance got his own story and was excited to read it!
I’m Wrenlee Davenport, lead singer of Loaded Replay. I’ve learned the hard way that plenty of people in the world would love to have a piece of me, but they don’t give one shit about the person behind the voice.

Wrenlee is the face of Loaded Replay, but she’s also a private person. The only people who really know her are her 3 band mates, Wes (her twin brother), Luke, and Jamison. That’s the way it has to be. When you’re a star, people take advantage of you and Wren has had that happen one to many times. Loaded Replay is in need of better security for Wren, so who better to hire than someone ex-military who works for Corps Security? Chance is just the guy for the job.

 photo 32A2927B-0997-4568-8A48-8939F21A4ECA_zpsfoh7hsto.jpg

Chance is a professional and takes his job very seriously, but he can’t control the sparks that fly when he’s around Wren and the connection/chemistry they have. Chance battles some things from his past. He’s concerned about hurting Wren. All he wants to do is protect her, but who can protect her from him?
“You have to protect yourself from me.” The pain in his voice makes me falter on my feet before I move forward two steps and cup his cheeks with my hands. “I don’t want to protect myself from you. I want to give myself to you.”

I loved both Chance and Wren and even though their relationship moved fast, I could really feel the connection between them. For some reason, the fast pace worked with them. Even though it was a bit of insta-love, it honestly didn’t feel that way. Wren was a tough heroine, but she was also sweet and vulnerable deep down. Chance was just the guy she needed. They were honestly a perfect match.

Harper set up a promising series by giving us a great first book, and 3 fabulous band members I’m dying to read about in the coming books. If you’re looking for a sexy, sweet and fun book- take a chance on Jaded Hearts!
Our relationship will never be measured by time, not when it feels like I’ve been working my whole life just to make my way to her.

Harper Sloan comes back in full force, everybody! This book has made me fall in love with her writing all over again. She presents a new series, with fabulous characters and love stories full of sexy times! I adored every page of this one, for sure!

Jaded Hearts is the first installment in the Loaded Replay series and it starts with the love story between Wrenlee Davenport (the lead voice of the group) and Chance Nash (Cohen Cage’s best friend from the Hopetown series). Chance is Wren’s new head of security, he is hired to watch the lead singer but sparks start flying between them since the first moment they lay each on each other. This story is about two jaded hearts that heal together.

I should feel bad for Prince Charming. My knight in tarnished armor. Because he’ll have one giant battle on his hands to make me believe that someone might be left out there who doesn’t just want a piece of me.

For the first time in almost ten years, I was about to set myself up to give someone else power over me.
And I would be powerless to stop it.

What an amazing way to start this series, Harper! This woman has introduced a fantastic group of people that I am sure will give us the most amazing love stories. Loaded Replay has four components: Wren, Wes (her twin brother), Luke and Jamison. These people met at a very young age, all not loved by their parents and they haven’t been apart since. I love the familiarity between them, the hilarious moments we experience with them and the emotional ones too. They are just an exceptional group and I can’t wait for more!

“How did you fall into the pool?” Wes asks incredulously, still not willing to look at him.
Jamison stares at my brother, and his eyes narrow. “I didn’t fall, asshole. I walked. It’s not my fault that the pool was in the way.”

I just love having a band that gets along so well and besides that, I love having a couple that has the most amazing off-the-charts chemistry. Wren and Chance are simply explosive: they definitely burnt my Kindle with all the hotness! I love Harper’s alphas and her super-sassy heroines and Chance and Wrenlee are not an exception. They gave us lots of hot moments and lots of beautiful and sentimental ones too.

“Fuck, you feel perfect,” I tell her with a strain to my words. “So fucking perfect against my cock, in my arms—mine. Never …” I thrust deep, bottoming out and lifting her from the island. “Felt …” I lift her up from my cock before dropping her down and flexing my ass to attempt to get deeper into heaven. “Better.”

Our relationship will never be measured by time, not when it feels like I’ve been working my whole life just to make my way to her.

And even though Chance and Wren’s relationship goes really fast paced, I have to say I did not mind it at all because Harper made me love them from the start. Moreover, we get a bit of suspense between this love story and I really enjoyed the emotional consequences we got from it! And can I repeat that I am extremely curious and excited about the other Loaded Replay members? Jamison is next and I am pretty sure he will give us a very amusing and wonderful love story!

I feel like my heart—the one thing that keeps me alive—doesn’t even beat inside my own chest anymore, not when Wren has taken its place as my most vital organ.

Therefore, my rating for Jaded Hearts is 5 STARS because Harper gives an excellent introduction to the Loaded Replay series and a beautiful and super-sexy love story. I kind of missed having a longer epilogue but besides that, this was absolutely perfect. I can’t wait for all the other stories! If you have enjoyed this woman’s writing before or you want a great love story to read, I highly recommend this one!

Jaded Hearts brought back all the reasons I love reading Harper Sloan and consider her one of my favorite authors. This was a fantastic start to the Loaded Replay series and I can already tell that I'm going to love all of these characters.

This first book follows Wrenlee and the rest of her band mates while on tour. Her band members decide she needs a bodyguard after someone breaks into her hotel room, so they hire Chance to watch her. The two have some amazing chemistry and soon they become much more than bodyguard/client.

This series is sort of a spin-off from the Hope Town series so if you've read that book than you probably recognize Chance as being Cohen's roommate in Unexpected Fate. The boys from Corps Security weren't featured in this book much, though. I actually liked that past characters didn't pop up and take the focus away from the band so I was happy that the focus stayed on Chance and Wrenlee, with some on her fellow band members.

I thought Chance and Wren had a really great connection and they fell into a relationship easily, which was fun to read. There wasn't an overabundance of drama or tension between them and it was actually refreshing to read about a couple liking each other, getting together, and staying together for once without the missing angst. The bottom line is that this was a fantastic book that I will highly recommend. I hope everyone likes this new series as much as I did.

4.5 'Healed Hearts' Stars

Oh. My. God!!!

What an EPIC beginning Harper Sloan has created for her new series, Loaded Replay!

Before I go in and tell you how amazing this book was, I have to say this one is doing to be hard one to beat! I really seemed written with everything I look forward in my Romance reads! Simply amazing!

For those of you who like me read all of Harper’s work, these two are no strangers. We could see upon reading the Hope Town series that when Chance set his eyes on Wren for the very first time at one of their concerts that something extraordinary would come from these two. And come it did!!! LOL

Wrenlee Davenport has been living a life of fame and success for five years now, but what only her closest family – her brother and bandmates – can see is that she is fast approaching her breaking point. For years she has wanted, craved even, something more. Or better yet someone… Someone who will see behind the well constructed facade of the sex symbol lead singer of one the world’s most famous rock band and want her for who she truly is, for everything she is deep down…

This is our future’s promise of a better life, and even if it’s starting to look like more of a curse than a promise to me, we will die before we give it up.

But for me—I’m probably always going to be that stupid little girl who believes my prince charming will come riding in on his black horse—because really, black horses are so much more badass than white ones—and prove to me that every little jaded piece of my heart is worth loving.
And he will love me for me.
For Wren.

And here enters our dark and handsome hero, Chance. I was already completely hooked on him while reading Unexpected Fate, but now, I’m just as dumbstruck as Wren was! Talk about swoon worthy!!!

From the very first moment he crosses the threshold of the hotel suite, and their eyes connect, any feared and caution about both their pasts is doomed. Their magnetism and attraction is almost palpable and without a doubt reciprocated. ;)

Jesus, when he focuses completely on me, it feels like I’m the only woman left in the world and he’s gone without sex for decades.

Aroused.
I was completely, purely, and deliciously aroused.
To the point a feather could touch my overheated skin and I would probably have an orgasm on the spot. Well, maybe not that bad, but I was close.

Goddamn, that smile is dangerous.
Who am I kidding? He is dangerous.
Truthfully he was just missing the black horse, because he came in guns blazing and immediately took on the role of the protector. A role he seemed born to fill.

Even in his resistance to their obvious attraction (due to the ghosts of his past), he never falter in his role, because she truly became the center of his world. The only thing that mattered.

“You don’t want to go down that road, Wren. I’ll protect you from the world, but you need to protect yourself from me.”

She has fears of her own, of course, but when it comes to Chance, she has no doubt that they are mean to be. She just has to make in realize that, and for that he just needs to open himself up, like she’s doing. After years of closing herself of from relationships (after so many of those having used her for their personal gain), I was happily surprise with the apparent easiness of her acceptance of felling for Chance. I loved her attitude, her sassiness and her faith – although she had her own doubts at times. But teasing him was half the fun!

“You might think you will, but mark my words, I will have you, and you’re going to love it. Every. Single. Second. If I can put my fears aside to just take this chance and open myself up to your rejection time and time again, then you can do the same and stop letting whatever hurt you before stand in the way of your life.”

I avoided you because I’m absolutely scared out of my mind of the way you make me feel. It’s insane. I haven’t known you long enough to feel this strongly about you. I know next to nothing about you personally, but it doesn’t matter. I feel my body being pulled to yours, and it scares the shit out of me.”

Their hesitation doesn’t last long, and once they give in, it’s full steam ahead!

I absolutely adored how open and sure they were from that point forward. They opened to one another like they never did to another being, and it was a beautiful thing to read. Their fears became just memories, and they started their process of mutually healing one another…

“You’re going to destroy me,” I tell her, trying to reason with her by giving her the truth of my fears.
“We’re going to destroy each other and then put the pieces back together, so there aren’t any more cracks.”

Healing, caring, and a LOT of loving!!! Because with that explosive chemistry, and an alpha male like Chance, how could their sex scenes not be their own level of scorchingness??? And Chance… Holy mother of filthy talkers!!!

“The second I feel your body ripple against my cock, you will be mine, Wrenlee. Even if you ever decide you don’t want me, I’m not sure I’ll grant you that. Especially not after I feel you hug me tight inside your body, sucking my come from my cock. If we’re taking a gamble together, it’s all in, or we fold before the call.”

We get PLENTY of steaminess to go around, that’s for sure! And this pervy reader LOVED every second of it!!!

Another standout is the incredible relationship that Wren has with the rest of the guys, – her brother and friends – but specially her bound with her twin brother, Weston. It’s amazing to see their love and support, and he hinted to what an amazing character I’m sure he’ll be. Her rock, her anchor, even if she doesn’t need him as much as she always did. An immeasurable brotherly love…

“And if I fall for this man, the allure of a reward, only to find him not there to catch me?”
My brother’s arm tightens around me. “Then you still won’t hit the ground, little sister, because I will always be here to make sure you never fall far.”

And I can’t not mention the rest of the bandmates, Luke and Jamison, specially the former, because, OMG, was that guy a hoot!!!! Really, what an awesome character! He sure gave us some ROFL moments here!

“We can talk tonight,” I concede.
“Do you mean talk to him with your south mouth?” Jamison butts in.

JADED HEARTS really was a spectacular beginning for the series, and these characters were splendidly thought out and realistically portrayed – you can see by the incredible (and numerous, even if reduced multiple times, lol) quotes I posted. So amazing, it was hard to choose from! The storyline itself couldn’t have been more well constructed. Naturally, emotionally and fluidly, the events develop in a way that you feel that you are living them with the characters, and that for me is perfect writing perfection on Harper’s part. It’s exactly what I hope to find in each story I dive in, and here it surpassed expectation. The only thing I missed, being the total ‘epilogue – whore’ that I am, was a more extended epilogue with a deeper look into their future. I know we’ll get that for sure in the upcoming books, but I’m a greedy reader, so I wanted it now! Can’t wait to see what Harper Sloan brings us next with that special and quirky character of Jamison! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

We’re cut from the same cloth, honey. Both of us wear the scars of our jaded past, but if you feel even a little bit like I do for you, then you’ve felt the healing touch of them disappearing since the moment our bodies first touched. I need what you give me more than my next breath. That isn’t something anyone would be able to give up. People fight a lifetime to find this, and I had almost lost faith that I would ever have this.”

I feel like my heart—the one thing that keeps me alive—doesn’t even beat inside my own chest anymore, not when Wren has taken its place as my most vital organ.

My knight in tarnished armor had finally found his broken princess, high in her jaded tour—changing both of our lives for eternity.
This is the evolution of two jaded hearts seeing the beauty of life again.
This is the creation of two broken souls, healing solidly, connected as one.
This is the foundation of an unbreakable love.
This is the clarity of our forever love.

2.5 Stars

Overall Opinion: Well, hmmm. I really wanted to like this one, but sadly it just wasn't for me. There were just too many things that pressed my buttons (and not in a good way) to rate this higher than 2.5 stars.

**FYI -- This gets a little ranty with lots of exclamation points, so I apologize in advance**

First, the instalove. I know, I know -- many of you LOVE instalove! I'm just not a fan. I didn't understand how they jumped into feelings of love at all. It also got a little too fluffy for my liking with the lovey-dovey talk.

Second, I felt like we just scratched the surface of these characters. I wish we were given some more depth into them, because I felt that they really did have potential!

Third, the h's characterization was inconsistent. I was really liking her tough, confident attitude at the beginning, but then she turned into the type of h that makes me roll my eyes constantly. I mean, I was facepalming and cringing over her OTT dramatics for the last couple chapters because she ended up being that bad!

Fourth and finally, the ending. WTH!! That was one of the worst "epilogues" I've read to date! That left us with hardly any closure at all except the band coming out with a new cd -- but who cares?!? This is supposed to be about the h and H! We needed some actual concrete closure for the couple here! I appreciate the author trying something different with it being as if it was a magazine article, but COME ON!

Oh well...ok, rant over ;).

I do feel the need to mention that the sex scenes were pretty hot. So those looking for a book that has instalove, low-to-no-angst, and hot sex scenes -- this might be a winner for you!

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Wrenlee and Chance's story. Chance gets hired to work security for the wildly popular band that Wrenlee fronts. She is receiving stalker type threats, and he is sought out by her worried brother and band mates. The sparks fly instantly, and it doesn't take them long to stop fighting their attraction. They start up a fake relationship to get around some contractual restrictions, but it soon becomes real and they fall in love...and they do get a HFN ending.

POV: This alternated between Wrenlee and Chance's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good until the end (see closure section). I never skimmed and it flowed well otherwise.

Instalove: Yes! It did move quickly as for the time it takes for them to feel stronger feelings, but it also was the type that didn't feel believable to me. We don't get that much of them developing feelings, it's just like BAM! they're in love. I understood their instalust, but not the instalove.

H rating: 3.5 stars. Chance. I liked him for the most part. He was pretty hot...yep, that's all I can come up with right now.

h rating: 3 stars. Wrenlee. She was a contradiction. She started off strong and the type of h I can get behind, but then she did a 180 and became an emotional mess that was either spouting fluffy lovey-dovey stuff or crying. I didn't get it! I liked her at first, but ended up disliking her at the end.

Sadness level: Low, no tissues needed.

Push/Pull: Yes, but minimal.

Heat level: Moderate. They have some hot chemistry and scenes, but not so much it takes away from the storyline.

Descriptive sex: Yes

Safe sex: Yes

OW/OM drama: No

Sex scene with OW or OM: No

Cheating: No

Separation: No

Possible Triggers: Yes, but mild

Closure: This had an abrupt ending with a (IMO) crappy epilogue that left us with hardly any closure! Yes, we hear that the band is doing well -- but what about the h and H?!? I would call this a HFN ending .

How I got it: I got it on loan through booklending.com from a dear friend :)

Safety: This book should be Safe for most readers.

Brilliant just Brilliant

Wren/Wrenlee is the lead singer of Loaded Replay. They are very successful. In the band is her twin brother Weston Luke and Jamison. Wes and Wren have been best friends with Like and Jamison since they were kids. They used to just play local bands till the got noticed but Wren isn't really feeling things at the min. Her life is the same thing and she is tried they haven't had a break in so long. The label and manager just keep pushing them. They need to ride the high they were told but Wren as had enough. Her and Wes hadn't had a great life growing up there parents were crappy. When they moved and made friends with Luke and Jamison things got a lil better they were dealing with the same so they just stuck together. Wren treats them al like brothers but the bond she as with Wes is so strong they can sense when things are not right and Wes is getting that feeling and he us worried. With the band being one of the best in the world not everything is good. Wren as been dealing with a few issues. So the lads think it's time to bring in better security but she didn't think her security was goin to be so hot.

Chance as been in security for a while he was a marine for years. So security was the next step. He is dealing with a few issues but he hides them will. Chance knew if the band and was a fan. He knew how Wren was and what she looked like but when he saw her he couldn't hide his attraction to her she is sexy as hell. He had to be professional it was his job and he wanted to protect her. Nothing would happen to her on his watch but as the days went on there attraction got stronger. They just both wanted each other they were so hot together.

The other members of the band were great. I m dyin to get more from them. Jamison is so funny he's flirts with anything that moves even Wren. Wes his very protective of his sister he would do anything to make sure she is ok. Luke seems the quieter of the band members so I m quit interested to get more from him. I luvd the connection they al had. They were a strong family and would do anything for each other.

This is the first book I 've read from this author and it definitely won't be the last. I really enjoyed this book I couldn't put it down once I started. The writing was great I living getting into the heads of both characters. So having both pov was great. Wren is a brilliant character. I really enjoyed her personality she had dealt with a lot growing up but with Wes she could deal with it. It was still in the back of her mind but Chance made a huge difference to her life. They both had baggage so it was hard trying to deal with stuff. There lives were very different but they couldnt stay away from each other.

I would highly recommend this book. The story was great it kept me interested al the way through. I was dyin to know how things would work out. I can't really find anything to didn't like about this book. If I m being picky the ending was a lil quick would of liked more but I didn't really mind I was happy with the way it ended. Really enjoyed it xxx.

It’s no secret that I am a huge Harper Sloan fan and couldn’t wait to dive into her newest rock star romance. I guess it would be fitting to say that Jaded Hearts was loaded with charm, sex appeal, banter, friendship, steam, music and love. Harper has indeed found the perfect melody and beat as she has readers like myself dancing and tuning into the love story of Wren Davenport and Chance.

photo bda4395deac7ee3863f4e969d21375_zps0jie8mrx.gif I should feel bad for Prince Charming. My knight in tarnished armor. Because he’ll have one giant battle on his hands to make me believe that someone might be left out there who doesn’t just want a piece of me.”

ModernRock

Wren Davenport is the face of Loaded Replay, a band that consists of Wes (her twin brother), Jamison, and Luke. Wren has been in the public eye for sometime right now since the band hit it big and signed with Brighthouse Records. Wren not only has the beauty and sass but also the voice to capture everyone’s attention including a stalker.

photo bda4395deac7ee3863f4e969d21375_zps0jie8mrx.gif I’m Wrenlee Davenport, lead singer of Loaded Replay. I’ve learned the hard way that plenty of people in the world would love to have a piece of me, but they don’t give one shit about the person behind the voice.”

While Wren’s music career is on the rise, her love life is nonexistent since she is very wary of anyone who wants to use her for the rise to fame. Wren is like any woman looking for love. She wants the real deal not the make believe fairy tale romance. She wants a love like the lyrics her band members write and sing about. So will this jaded rock star find a song that is loaded with truth, sincerity, and love?

#jadedhearts

For all you Harper Sloan fans out there, remember Chance from the Hope Town Series who happens to be Cohen’s old roommate. Well it turns out Chance is hired to be Wren’s bodyguard. Immediately, Chance feels the connection with Wren. The melody of his heart beats for one person only. Wren. Will Chance be able to protect and do his job while having feelings for Wren?

photo bda4395deac7ee3863f4e969d21375_zps0jie8mrx.gif She owns every part of me at this moment. My mind succumbs to her, willing to do anything she wants. My body owned by hers. And my heart beating so hard in my chest, I feel like it’s trying to reach out and never let her go. Yeah, I’m one lucky son of a bitch.”

The connection between Wren and Chance is something so palpable and strong that readers like myself could feel the beats of their hearts. And this particular melody was on constant replay as Chance and Wren could not deny their attraction and feelings for one another. Sparks were flying. Music was being made. And hearts were beating with passion and intensity.

photo bda4395deac7ee3863f4e969d21375_zps0jie8mrx.gif There isn’t an inch of me that doesn’t feel him … us, and I know this is so much more than him showing me his love.”

Jaded Hearts was loaded with humor, banter, romance, passion, vulnerability, healing, and music. This book was a symphony of rock star romance done right. Harper Sloan did a phenomenal job showcasing a strong willed heroine with a side of vulnerability and in such allowed readers to feel her struggle and hope for real love. So if you are looking for a romance that blends music and love in a rock star fashion then I highly urge you to get lost in the music, words, and this beautiful heartfelt literary canvas that is loaded with Harper Sloan’s signature of romance with a side alpha male.

What a great way to start a new series! In this book, we are introduced to a hot rock band! What makes it so different and refreshingI is the heroine who happens to be the lead singer of the band!

Wren was a strong heroine, she wasn't perfect and this made her realistic! Her band was really successful but isn this enough to make them happy? Chance is in charge of keeping the band safe but also Wren’s personal bodyguard. Wren and Chance had a fantastic chemistry. They were hot, sweet, intense and passionate.

I'm looking forward to the next book in the series! If you are a fan of Harper Sloan you are going to love it!

Harper Sloan's books just get better and better with each one she writes. I loved this book from the first page to the last.

Wren is a famous singer in a band that is at the top of their game. She's also become a little disillusioned with the life of fame. At first, I was thinking...stop feeling sorry for yourself. But then I realized she just wants more from her life and doesn't think it will happen because of who she is and the constant traveling. There is someone threatening Wren and her brother and the other guys in the band decide to hire extra security for her.

Enter Chance Nash and all of his deliciousness. Because of rules put in place by their record label, the group and a reluctant Wren decide that he will be her fake boyfriend. As time goes on and these two open up to each other, it doesn't seem so fake anymore.

These two heal the broken parts in each other and they build a love so strong that nothing can break it. Their love for each other was so true that you could feel it. Along with an amazing cast of secondary characters, whose stories I can't wait for, this book had everything I love in a romance.

Next up is Jamison and I can't wait to see him get his HEA. I hope it's with Dyllan. I will always read everything that Harper Sloan writes. Even in a couple of her books that had elements I don't love, I still ended up adoring each story. I'm also super excited about her cowboy series coming out next year. Ok I'm done fangirling for now ;)

Jaded heart how you will see. Once the fog rolls away, it was all just a fantasy. This heart jaded, never had to be. ~Jamie Ellen Christian

The best love is often the one that is unexpected, a firestorm of feels you never saw coming but one that steals your heart…your body…your soul. Books are like love; we get lost in them. We feel them. We live in them. Harper Sloan threw a curveball my way in a love story that rocked my world, one I did not see coming, but one where I INSTANTLY FELL HEAD OVER HEELS IN LOVE. Jaded Hearts stole my heart in a romantic rocker story full of smolder, swoon, and soul!

I plunged myself into Jaded Hearts with an itch that only a rock star story could scratch. This book buzzed with excitement, Jaded Hearts an enticing and edgy tale that I devoured with the hunger of a groupie at a concert. Pulse pounding like a drum. Body buzzing like a guitar. Emotions flowing like a moving melody. Soul singing to the music of this masterpiece.

Jaded Hearts buzzed with brilliance and hummed with heart. The words seduced me, lyrics of love that danced on my heart and sent my soul soaring to heaven, as I felt the music and magic of Jaded Hearts move through every part of me. I WAS ALL IN AND I WANTED TO STAY.

Wrenlee Davenport, the beautiful singer of Loaded Replay, is jaded. The fiery redhead with piercing blue eyes is done with people using her, those who only see the voice and not the person.

No man has been worthy of a piece of Wren’s heart…no man until tall and muscular, dark-haired, blue-green-eyed, all-alpha god, Chance Nash, stormed into her life as her security guard. What Wren may need guarding the most is her heart as it beat for Chance from the start, an attraction beyond physical desire.

“You don’t want to go down that road, Wren. I’ll protect you from the world, but you need to protect yourself from me.”

Despite the intense attraction to the beautiful singing goddess Chance was hired to protect, he must keep his head in the game and fight the force of combustible chemistry that ignites like fire between them. Wren wants Chance, the first man who sees Wren along with Wrenlee.

“Oh, Chance, you won’t win. You might think you will, but mark my words, I will have you, and you’re going to love it. Every. Single. Second.”

Oh now I wanted to be besties with Wren, one of the most badass heroines I could not help but love! This bold woman with brass balls is simply brilliant! Wren is determined to have this man who is slowly picking up the pieces of her jaded heart and making it whole.

“His mouth opens, and his tongue meets mine, no hesitation whatsoever, as he deepens the kiss.”

That kiss is the turning point. That passion permeates through them…through me…one so physically strong and heartfelt that it can’t be denied. Wren finally sees a man who wants her for Wren, the woman, not Wrenlee the singer…and she needs to convince Chance to take a chance on her…on love...and cure each other's jaded hearts.

“Both of us wear the jaded scars of our past.”

Chance’s resolve is crumbling, Wren is breaking down his walls. Chance is woven in Wren’s web, and there is no going back. Oh did this book burn with passion and bleed with angst!

“The second I feel your body ripple against my c**k, you will be mine, Wrenlee…If we’re taking a gamble together, it’s all in, or we fold before the call.”

I. WAS. ON. FIRE and Chance was the heat!!! Oh did Chance, this amazing all-alpha, melt me from head to toe. The heat set me ablaze, as I burned along with this sweet, sensual and seductive story.

“You’re going to destroy me.”

“We’re going to destroy each other and then put the pieces back together, so there aren’t any more cracks.”

Wren knows what...who...she wants and that's Chance. Her jaded heart is ready to become whole. Wren is ready to take a chance on Chance and not let the one man who sees the woman and not just the rock star go.

“You’re going to be my undoing, Wren.”

I fell fast and hard for all-alpha, Chance, and beautiful and badass, Wren. I fell fast and hard for the secondary characters, the bandmates that included Wren’s brother and childhood friends. I fell fast and hard for Jaded Hearts, a fairy tale of a rocker romance where Cinderella grabs her Prince, and they rescue each other. I fell fast for Harper Sloan’s wondrous words as this author’s books only get better and better. I FELL FAST AND HARD…JADED HEARTS AND ALL!

Jaded Hearts is one enticing, edgy, emotionally-entwined tale of unexpected love. Oh did I LOVE EVERY MINUTE! Harper Sloan thrust me into the thrilling music scene, painting a vivid picture where I went on a virtual tour with the band, feeling the rush in a music world that became my world too. Jaded Hearts is PURE MAGIC—penned and painted to perfection—in a movie that played in my head while reading.

I smoldered. I sweated. I swooned. I felt this love story too. Jaded Hearts melted my heart with magic in a book that is UTTER BRILLIANCE. The perfect fusion of heat and heart in a hit of a rocker romance, Jaded Hearts ROCKED MY WORLD. My heart is now a bit jaded in that I have to say goodbye to this spellbinding rock star romance.

I am a huge Harper Sloan fan and I just love her "Corps Security" series and it's spin-off     " Home Town".

Jaded Hearts is the first book of her new spin-off series,"Loaded Replay".

This story centers around Chance, who was first introduced in "Unexpected Fate", book 1 in the "Home Town" series, as Cohen's friend. I always thought he was a great character, so I was very pleased about him getting his own book.

Afbeeldingsresultaat voor fangirling

Chance has been working for "Corps Security" for some time and he couldn't be happier when his job finds him in charge of the security of Wrenlee Davenport. A girl he has seen in person only once, but who has left a huge impression on him.

Wrenlee, her twin borther and two of their best friends form the very famous band "Loaded Replay". Lately Wren has been feeling kind of jaded. She knows that their band has come a long way and she is thankful for all that they've accomplished, but she's also very sad about all the negative things their fame has brought on. Somewhere along the way, she has lost her love for the music. She also feels very alone. The only people who show her any interest are those who want something from her. She would love to have someone in her life, who would just love her for her and not her fame.

Well, she is about to have her wish come true...

When Chance is hired as her personal security guard. Sparks ingnite and panties catch   fire !! Their is an instant attraction between the two of them, that won't be denied.

I loved both MC's very much and the other bandmates were awesome. I just missed a bit of the suspence/angst I'm used to, when reading a Harper Sloane book. Except for them exploring their relationship, there wasn't a whole lot going on until the end. Which brings me to the whole reason Chance was hired in the first place. The whole security reasons, don't get adressed until the end of the book and by then it all felt a bit unrealistic and it was also resolved a bit too fast for my liking.

I still enjoyed this book very much though and I will be on the lookout for the next, which will be Jamieson's book. I loved his character, he was very funny and I can't wait to read more about him.

3,5 Stars.

This was a definitely a nice and steamy beginning to the Loaded Replay series and the fact that this time the big rock star was the girl was somewhat refreshing. There isn't that much angst on this book, they like each other (there's a bit of insta-love in this one), they get together and that's pretty much it, so it's nice to read a book where the mc's don't spend most of the story pushing and pulling. There was some drama that felt completely unreal to me, even for a fiction book and that was the reason I lowered my rating to 3,5 instead of 4. I didn't love how the author decided to wrap everything up. Noneteless, it was definitely a good and steamy reading, with a sexy alpha male and some really good moments. If you're a fan of Harper Sloan you should definitely check it out.

Harper Sloan launches her rocker romance series, Loaded Replay, with Jaded Hearts. A of tall, dark and broody bodyguard Chance Nash and sex rock star goddess Wrenlee Davenport.

Worried about her safety after intercepting a stalker note and pictures, Wrenlee’s brother and bandmates compel her to hire a bodyguard who would protect her under the guise of a boyfriend due to their label’s nonsense contract clauses.

Being on top of the world and achieving everything she ever dreamed of doesn’t fill the void Wren feels. She has her twin brother and two other bandmates but loneliness and absence of love is daunting. And now on top of the lack of time off, she’s being forced to clip her wings of freedom by having the very attractive but sullen Chance around ALL. THE. TIME.

Deciding to at least have some fun with this, she not only flirts and tempts him, she also taunts the paparazzi with a fake marriage and baby rumors. Forced to be together Wren and Chance face their insecurities, their pasts and give into their attraction. Can they find a way to give their budding relationship a chance amidst all the mayhem that surrounds them?

Wren and Chance are equally loveable characters. She’s not only caring, fun and fearsome, she’s humble despite the fame and fortune. Chance is all swoony alpha, protective, thoughtful and oh so sexy and I loved that him being part of Corps Security gave me the opportunity to catch up with some of the old gang.

Wren and Chance’s sexy times are smoking hot laced with sweet passion and a rock backdrop with vibrant concert scenes that jump off the page and charismatic band member who I can’t wait to get to know better.

Jaded Hearts is book #1 of the Loaded Replay series by Harper Sloan. It is standalone contemporary rocker romance that made me laugh, smile and swoon with rock star goodness. Told from both points of view with a happy ending.

This was a good start to Harper Sloan's new Loaded Replay series. Because this author is fabulous at the heat...well there is plenty to keep the romance interesting. The setting is a fast-paced, on the road, rock star lifestyle with a fiery pixie on the lead. Wrenlee is wanted by all men, the envy of every woman. Behind the fame and the stardom is inherent sadness and loneliness that her twin brother and 2 other band mates share. When a series of threats hit close to home it's time to up the protection. Enter a hot dominant, sexy Alpha, Chase.

BOOM. Insta-lust and a claiming happens. Wren is happy and safe with Chase and he has never felt more whole...in just 2 weeks! So while this fast love isn't my fave, I appreciated the strong female lead and again the intimacy. The whole "not-my-hubby" but act like it scenario was a bit too much for me. There isn't too much angst and the band camaraderie is on point with fun dialogue and humor. I am looking forward to more from the band now that Wrenlee and Chase have set the bar!

It’s well known that I love everything Harper Sloan writes, her books always have multiple items that are must have in my romances and never have any of my hard limits. When Harper announced the Loaded Replay series I was skeptical because I am not a big fan of rock star romances. Knowing that Harper hasn’t let me down ever, even when she recommends books to read, I dove into Jaded Hearts and am so glad I did!

I immediately fell in love with Wrenlee Davenport and her band mates, which include her twin brother Weston and their childhood friends, Jamison and Luke. From head to toe Wrenlee is all rock chick badass, but on the inside she has insecurities and the fear of being unlovable due to the childhood she and Weston had. Wrenlee’s personality was so big, loving, snarky, funny and realistic, not to mention she doesn’t take crap from anyone, that I couldn’t help but fall in love with her.

Chance Nash is a member of Corps Security who Weston hires to protect Wrenlee and the band after some alarming incidents occur. Chance is an Alpha male to the core and super sexy. He is also hiding a secret crush on Wren from his first time seeing her in concert.

From the second Wren and Chance meet the chemistry and passion explodes off the pages, but not only passion, you can feel the love developing and growing between them. There is a lot going on in Jaded Hearts, mystery, love, passion and a band on the road that is full of witty banter and tricks, Ms. Sloan did an amazing job of making everything flow seamlessly into a fun, sexy and sweet romance, one of my favorites of 2016.

I cannot wait for the next book in this series and to see what makes Jamison tick!

Another great series by Ms. Sloan. Chance and Wrenlee have both been hurt in the past, but together they find their way to love. Lots of drama and hot sex and hotter band mates. The stalker was a little underdone. Loved seeing a Cohen from Corps Security/Hopt Town again. Can't wait to read about the rest of the band.

it's now 2020....where's the rest of the band's books?

Enjoyed this way more than I thought I would, definitely one of the author's better books. Why? No slut shaming, no skanky ex drama-rama and a whole bevy of really likeable characters, especially Wren. What a refreshing change to read about a strong, feisty heroine with a soft centre that she's not afraid to show.

Fans of Harper Sloan's Corps Security series can rejoice with Ms. Sloan's latest series, Loaded Replay. As a fan of that series myself, I was excited to see an inkling of that still preserved and manifested into this series spinoff.

I was also enthused to experience a novel centered on a female rockstar. Usually, it's male manwhores, which is cool and all, but I like to see a change up and in this we got it.

Here, our rockstar gal is Wrenlee Davenport, lead singer of mega popular Loaded Replay. Wrenlee is like any relatable character and yearns to get control of her own life again, find true love, and find some inkling of quietness.

That' easier said than done after some run ins with stalker fans and crazies that they bring in Corps Security. Enter Chance Nash.

Now, from here, I'm sure you guys can kind of guess how the story will go without me telling you.

It's a forbidden type of love: business versus pleasure.

Over all, a really great start to this addictive and mesmerizing series. I really look forward to where Harper Sloan is going to take these characters and cannot wait to see where she leads us next.

Jaded Hearts (Loaded Replay #1) by Harper Sloan
Standalone start to an interconnected Rock Star Series. Contemporary Romance.
Harper Sloan is one of my favorite authors, and the Hope Town Series is one of my favorite series, with all three books being 5 stars (or more!) so as soon as I heard that Cohen’s friend would be starting a new Rock Star series, I was immediately desperate to read it, despite so much time passing that I didn’t remember Chance beyond his name. And that’s OK, because Jaded Hearts stands alone.
"I’m Wrenlee Davenport, lead singer of Loaded Replay. I’ve learned the hard way that plenty of people in the world would love to have a piece of me, but they don’t give one shit about the person behind the voice."

Wrenlee fronts one of the hottest bands out there, with her twin brother, Wes, and super close friends, Luke and Jameson. Her only other friend in the world, Dyllan, is her makeup artist. Beyond that, she is isolated. Her parents were horrible people who are out of the picture, and getting close to anyone else is a mistake, because everyone wants something.

Wrenlee has been the target of a stalker, and their shitty record company who is working them to the bone with no breaks refuses to send adequate security, or even security that doesn’t want to get in her or the groupies’ panties. When things start getting more dangerous, Wes decides he is going to get his own security for her, and calls the best, Corps Security in GA.

Ex military, Chance proves within 1 minute how capable he is of protecting Wren, and it’s so hot how proficient he is! He also catches Wren’s eye immediately.
“He’s hot. Like really hot. Tall, he’s at least six-foot-four—seeing as he stands taller than my brother—with a trim runner’s body. Good God, he’s beautiful….
You can tell the man isn’t hard, but my guess is he’s just … gifted. Damn. I fight not to squirm in my seat. Whoever this guy is, I wouldn’t mind unwrapping the present he promises to be. He looks like he belongs on the cover of one of those corny romance books Dyllan is always reading.”

Since their contract says they can’t hire security themselves, they just let everyone assume they are lovers, and neither one of them complains about it. Despite them each having crappy backgrounds, there was no doubt they both wanted each other.
“When I see him wink, I know I’m done for when it comes to Chance Nash.
One way or the other, I will have that man.”

They both wanted each other, and though there was a tiny bit of reluctance due to past fears, there wasn’t much, and that was kind of my only issue with Jaded Hearts. It was all too easy, while I don’t usually crave angst, I kind of felt like nothing was happening. There was no conflict except with their record company, and even the danger was forgotten for almost the entire book. It was sweet, and you were able to see a lot of character growth, and the intense attraction between the two, but I needed a little more action.

If you follow Harper Sloan on social media, you know her love for Lularoe and Lipsense, and she wrote them into the book in a major way that had me laughing out loud.
“Get these pants off me. I don’t even care that they’re unicorns and a print I had to hunt down because all those eager bitches always steal the best ones first. Cut them off now. Cut them off!”

The end of the book really picked up for me, but it felt a little rushed to me. It didn’t seem to build throughout the book to the climax, it built, changed focus for most of the book, then came back at the end. Don’t get me wrong, I loved it, but I wish the angst and excitement were stretched out a little more.

Likes:

•I loved the bond between the bandmates.
•Chase is so alpha and sexy, yet isn’t afraid to show he is vulnerable, and doesn’t feel the need to prove he’s a man all the time.
•His sexy ability to notice every detail.
•Great set-up to the series, I want the other three’s stories.
•You never doubt the instant love between the couple. When you are together 24/7 in a stressful situation, time moves differently.
•Harper’s writing keeps me loving the story.
•Hot sex.
•Funny expressions and banter at times.
•Her hysterical use of Luluroe and Lipsense.
•Great epilogue.

Dislikes:

•They both wanted each other right from the start and there was very little obstacles in the way. I wanted more angst or fear, they were both too sure of themselves and their love.
•The danger that Chance came onboard for almost seemed like it was forgotten through the story.
•I felt like there was something I was supposed to remember that happened with Chance in previous books and I just couldn’t for the life of me put it together.

The Down & Dirty:
I have ridiculously high expectations for a Harper Sloan book, especially one that spins off of one of my favorite series ever. I really enjoyed Jaded Hearts a lot, but it didn’t quite live up to my expectations. I felt like nothing really happened through a lot of the book, and I was wanting some action or some angst. It was just too easy for the couple; neither of them even stood in their own way with doubts, they were very sure of their feelings right away. With a stalker on the loose, a little action through the story causing tension and fear to build would have been welcome. Instead, the threat basically disappeared through the story. I loved the characters, I loved Harper’s writing, but I just felt like I wanted a little more action or tension in the book to make it a true 5-star read that had me watch a couple’s struggle and then see them come out stronger in the end. I still loved it though, and totally look forward to the rest of the band’s books.

Rating: 4.25 Stars, 4.5 Heat

3.5 Jaded Hearts Stars

So I loved having a female lead singer be total kick ass, she really puts her all in to the band and the music. Even at the expense of her own health.

I loved the comradery between her and all the band members. She is like one of the guys and they are very protective of her. I think it’s awesome that her twin is also a band member.

Chance is part of the security the band wants around Wrenlee, because of some threats. This story is pretty neat I have to say I enjoyed it there as one part though I can’t get out of my head.

Chance and Wren in an elevator and fans come on, ok totally cool but I kinda wished Wren had been cooler to them and ok so they were young, and annoying but be grateful/humble. It’s not like she was alone, she had Chance as back up, and he is a security guard. They were just excited to see someone they spend their money on, and they look up to. This whole scene is why I took a star of my rating. :(

Other than that, over all I think this book was fabulous. Though Coopers’ book is still my all-time favorite!

*You don't have to like my review but its 100% my opinion, and I am allowed to have it.*

Wrenlee Davenport is the lead singer of the band Loaded Replay that also includes her twin brother, Weston, and best friends, Jamison and Luke. They are her family and support system. Her image has been crafted by their label to make her a sultry and sexy Goddess. She loves the music, but is tired of the paparazzi, fakeness, and the fact that they work endlessly without breaks. She feels like a prisoner in her own life and is trying to cope. Her past has caused her to be wary and untrusting, but deep down she longs to find her slightly imperfect Knight on a dark horse to love her for who she really is and not just what she can do for him. She is getting some unwanted attention from either rabid fans or possibly a stalker and her boys want to make sure she is safe and protected.

Chance Nash arrives from Corps Security and immediately takes charge of the situation and of her interest. He is a no-nonsense, stoic, controlled, ex-Marine who appears to be resistant to her charms. He wants to protect her, even if it is from himself. He feels guilty about the one "failure" in his career and it eats at him. But soon he is so immersed in her life that he becomes part of the public image. And he finds it hard to resist her pursuit and things get more personal.

They have a connection that they cannot deny and seems to grow at an accelerated pace. They are two broken people who shatter each other even more, but then bring the broken pieces back together and fit. He seems to be a catalyst for her to take a stand and make changes to her life. And she does the same for him. But that also causes a ripple effect throughout their lives. There are outside influences, threats, and important decisions to be made. Their lives are chaotic with many moving pieces and chances for things to go wrong. He still has concerns that she will question his true motivations. She is worried that he cannot handle her crazy life. Their hearts are both jaded, but they have the potential to heal and ground each other.

Will Chance be able to keep her safe? And will they find their happily-ever-after even though their lives are complicated?

This is Wren's journey towards finding love, but also finding herself again, living life, enjoying the music, and reaching her full potential. It is also about Chance's need to find his own redemption and purpose. And how together they begin to feel trust, hope, healing, and fill a void. It is funny, sexy, sweet, and has just a little suspense and drama. I really liked sassy, sweet Wren and protective, loving Chance. He was total alpha swoony-ness in one hot package. They both had such big hearts and so much love to give despite the pre-existing barriers around their hearts.

It introduces three charismatic and likable band mates, Weston, Jamison, and Luke who will be the male leads in their own stories. I also liked their stylist, Dyllan. There were also a couple fun cameos. I am interested to see what is going to happen with Jamison next and to see more with Wren and Chance as this series progresses.

I was gifted a copy in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 stars! I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I can't wait to read the next ones!

I haven't been able to get into full length books lately for some strange reason, but this book completely sucked me in. It wasn't so much the plot that kept me reading this story, it was more about the characters and the connection they ALL had with each other. I have only read one (? I believe) other book by this author, so I was not familiar with Chance or his backstory, but I didn't feel like I was missing anything.

Hero: 5 stars! Loved this dude hard. He was strong but vulnerable at the same time. It was refreshing. Chance was head over heels for Wren, but didn't feel like he deserved her. His job is to protect her and that's one reason he tried to deny her. Chance is definitely a great book boyfriend.

Heroine: 5 stars! It is rare that I give a heroine 5 stars. I usually find something about them that annoys me. Wrenlee was so complex and real though that it was hard to find a fault with her. There would be a point in the story where I thought I had Wrenlee figured out, but in the next chapter there would be another layer to her and I was back at square one. In this book, Wrenlee does the chasing, but Chance is always there to catch her. It was cute and completely endearing.

Plot: 4 stars! The plot isn't very original, but the chemistry and relationships between all the characters helped me get over that aspect quickly. I have two small issues with the story. One, I thought the main characters needed a little more build up with each other before they were thrown together. There is a lot of talk about each other in one another's heads but very little interaction and dialogue between the two. I think it would have made the connection more believable and helped build the bridge to the next stage of their relationship. Two, the whole reason Chance is there is kind of put into the background until the end of the book. While I didn't necessarily like that whole plot choice, I felt like it should have been a bigger part of the book instead of an afterthought at the end.

Sex scenes: 4 stars! Delicious.

What I loved: The characters. All of them.

What I disliked: My two points I laid out in the plot section.

Will I read this author again? Yes, especially this series.

"We’re cut from the same cloth, honey. Both of us wear the scars of our jaded past"

I have been waiting for this book for a very long time. I couldn't wait to get to know a little more about Chance and his story. And I must say that I'm little disappointed. I expected more action from this book, after all Chance is ex-solider so I thought it will be more suspenseful and at the end it was a little boring so I only flipped through the last pages of this book.
But besides that I really enjoy the story.

jaded-hearts-m

After several years of constant touring, struggling with record label, which didn't give a shit what the Loaded Replay wants and who they are as musicians, Wrenlee Davenport, the lead singer of Loaded Replay lost the joy of music that once was the most important thing for her, a break from the crappy life she once have.

"Even with all of that, though, my little black jaded heart keeps searching. Searching for what I’m beginning to think is impossible to find. Someone who isn’t trying to gain something just by knowing us. Someone who can be my gain in life … the tangible thing that can anchor me to the ground and prove that everything we’ve overcome hasn’t been for nothing. Someone who reminds me I’m more than just a pretty face. Someone who makes me want to believe the lyrics we write."

Chance Nash (Cohen Cage’s best friend from the Hopetown series)  also had demons from the past, which chased him through a long time and with whom he could not come to terms with. Generally speaking, he was also a little broken.

Jaded Hearts H.Sloan m.png

Their relationship progressed ver quickly, but it did not bother me. This chemistry that they felt for each other from the start allowed them to repair what was broken.
They could look at the world without a shadows hanging over their heads for a long time and enjoy the music and the life they will spend together.

"He is fiercely protective of the person I am when I’m not performing, but he opens his arms and lets me fly when it’s time to rock."
“She’s my healer, man. Anything that used to eat at me—she healed those wounds, and when she gave me her love, she eradicated any possibility that something might have lingered to come back later.”

And even if I left the last few pages of this book, I will certainly read the next books in this series. I am very curious about history of other band members.

If you like hot romance about musicians -> Get it now!!

Wren may pretend to be bad***, but deep down she can be a delicate flower about things, “you’re telling me that they all heard us having sex?” He nods and has the nerve to twitch those devil lips of his into a small smirk. “This is not funny,” I spit out." I really liked Chance he had a way with words, “I like it,” he confesses. “Just in case it matters, when you call me that ridiculous nickname, it goes straight to my ***k. So, I promise that’s the only hardship I feel.” I have to say my favorite scene isn't one with Wren and Chance, well I mean they're in the scene but it was Jamison that made me giggle, "his narrowed eyes snap in my direction. “I would never joke about a Pikachu, Wrenlee Davenport. How dare you.” He grabs the whole box of pizza, stands from the table with his ***k dangling in all our faces, and stomps out of the room." I seriously can't wait for his book, I loved this one but Jamison has stolen my heart.

Fantastic

You know a story is good when your not looking Ben paying attention to the yummy stuff and are so sucked into the story of these two. Chance and Wren. We're perfect. I loved that in a lot of ways this was easy. It wasn't this drawn out over the top story but an easy flow and a fast pace. It has humor and at one point I was laughing so hard I cried. It had great characters who I need more of... like right now... I don't wanna wait till next year... anywho now that I'm done whining...it also has a pretty sweet love story and some action that didn't take up the whole story which I thought it would. Seriously yet another great read.
