Until We Sort This Out

Rate this book
Cato and Roy have lived in the same dorm all through college. They know each other, but they're not quite friends. Roy is hard-working and responsible. Cato likes parties, pranks, and skipping class. Now in their junior year, Roy is the dorm RA and is supposed to keep everyone else out of trouble. Half his job seems to be telling Cato to be quiet.

When Cato is faced with a family emergency, Roy is the first to offer to help. And when a social worker is reluctant to assign Cato custody of his minor sister, Roy finds himself claiming to be Cato's fiancé. It's a harmless lie, but as the bureaucratic process unfolds, Roy and Cato realize they'll have to keep up the pretense of being a couple for a while.

Roy thinks they can be convincing. Cato isn't sure he's still pretending.

An awesome novella. Sweet, fragile Cato is so darn adorable and Roy is calm, patient and Cato's rock, a perfect balm for his panicking moments, of which he has many, but we love him anyway. This is a newish author for me, I believe this is only my second story but I love the writing and ambiance, giving us a lovely read.

We come into the story after Cato and Roy have developed a relationship (of RA and student) which has it’s issues.
Cato is like a young child or puppy, wanting the attention of Roy through messing about, pushing boundaries. Unfortunately adversity doesn’t really change him much, despite the downward make over.
Roy takes control though the panic does seem premature by all parties.
Not sure if it is a true reflection of child services, but in my head (and local law, not US) at 16+ you can go your own way so this was very overkill to me.
Very sweet and nice and all sorted.
It is short so good for a coffee break but not enough substance for me generally.

Okay…..it was cute. Cato and Roy are certainly sweet and adorable. I just can’t get past how ridiculous the storyline was. Cato was restricted from seeing his sister Izzy in her foster home? Seriously? And how good of a lawyer was Kershaw if he couldn’t even get Justine out on bail?
I was hoping for an epilogue beyond the end of the school term so we can see how our boys were doing!

I thoroughly enjoyed this charming, feel-good story and got caught up in the dynamic between Cato and Roy, as well as the dilemma they faced. A lovely escapist read.

Cato and Roy

This is a fast, if improbable, sweet novella. I enjoyed reading it, though sometimes the various relationships seemed contrived. I will look for more from this author.
