A story brimming with laughter, longing, and chemistry hotter than a fire-alarm fire, Drunk on Love is a sizzling romance that will leave you breathless and begging for more.
5 stars Did i just find the most hidden gem? yes. yes i did. Because how was this just so perfect and comforting. Even the dedication was perfect😂😭. I cried when she had convos with her grandmother (dadi). I laughed. I went through all the emotions, it was that perfect. consider this my favorite DESI ROMANCE I've ever read.
The best way to introduce the MMC? This: "There was a man. Shirtless. Cooking."
"He leaned in, his warm breath tickling my ear as he whispered, "You are looking beautiful..." His lips hovered just an inch from mine. I stopped breathing. My heart waited. But then-he stepped back, the ghost of a smile on his lips... and walked away, leaving me standing alone amidst a roaring round of applause." AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA
I officially have a medical condition called Death by Manav Oberoi (if you know, you know) and the cure is one and only Manav Oberoi himself... If you find him, kindly send him to me.
The vulnerability they both show eventually towards each other and their past and the way they slowly come to trust each other and care and love each other? My heart melted. It was perfection.
Usually i end up not liking the brother's reaction in brother's best friend romances but his reaction was so amazing and honest and just PERFECT.
The scene where she wears saree and he melts. Ughhhhhhh. DREAM. Reminds me of SRK and Deepika in Om Shanti Om.
I have heard that people listen to music while reading books before and while I don't do that. I tried in this book and omg the way it enhanced my experience. i mean, a desi romance book with some favorite Hindi romance songs playing in background? Perfect.
Manav Oberoi is on my book boyfriend list now and he's not going anywhere.
Thankyou so much to the author for providing me with a copy of this book. I cannot be more grateful. This is 100% my honest review.
Drunk on Love by Priyanka Gupta is a heartfelt and slowburn romance with sizzling chemistry and sharp banter! The story follows Kiara Randhawa, a bestselling romance author who fled her arranged wedding to crash at her brother, Roy's place, and Manav Oberoi, a billionaire and her Roy's best friend with a talent for cooking, who has been temporarily staying at Roy's cottage adjacent to his place.
When Kiara mistakenly hires Manav as her chef thinking he is homeless, it sets off a turn of events bringing emotional chaos into their lives! What starts as a fiery banter with underlying mutual attraction, eventually leads to moments of shared vulnerability, tenderness and longing for each other. I loved the use of forced proximity with minor fake fating to show how they slowly learn to trust, share their grief and confront their pasts to heal together. The side characters add their own charm and humour to this story and I loved them!
I felt the pacing slow in a few sections due to repetitive inner monologues. The writing in the last few chapters seemed rushed and a bit messy. Considering their pasts, I think the emotional depth could be explored better.
However, don't let these minor setbacks stop you from enjoying this beautiful romance that will make you blush, laugh and crave a shirtless chef with abs for your own!
Drunk on Love is a captivating romance that blends heartfelt vulnerability with irresistible chemistry. Priyanka Gupta brings together two beautifully flawed characters—Manav and Kiara—whose journeys feel both relatable and emotionally rich. Manav, despite his wealth and talent, carries deep scars that make him far more human than the usual billionaire archetype. Kiara, a bestselling author lost in her own spiraling writer’s block, is charming, funny, and wonderfully imperfect.
Their first meeting, born from Kiara mistaking Manav for a struggling chef, sets the tone for a story filled with humour, miscommunication, and growing desire. As they start living under one roof, the chemistry simmers slowly before erupting into something intense and unforgettable. Gupta does an excellent job exploring their internal conflicts—Manav’s fear of betrayal and Kiara’s reluctance to trust again.
What stands out most is the emotional authenticity. Their connection never feels forced; instead, it builds naturally through witty banter, quiet moments, and the healing power of companionship. The novel is a reminder that love often arrives when we’re least prepared—but exactly when we need it the most.
A warm, engaging, and ultimately uplifting romance that leaves a lasting impression.
This love story belongs to Manav and Kiara. Manav is young, successful, handsome and a fitness freak. Kiara is a succesfull writer, strong, bold and a fragile women.
How their worlds collide is this story filled with banter, heartbreaks, friendship, some spice, misunderstandings and true love. At the end, All we need is "True Love" right !! I loved the way Manav cooks and love the way Kiara admires him cooking. These little efforts matters in life. The narration is beautiful but I felt a little dragged in middle and the last misunderstanding felt a little unnecessary according to me. May be author wanted a closure giving us a moral in a way that is acceptable. Other than that, this drunk on love is a recommended read to all the rom com lovers out here.
This story tells us the person needn't be perfect to be loved. Love is in the imperfection.
POV : I fell in love with Manav just for the temple kisses he gives as an assurance 🥰
This is a romance with Brother's Bestfriend, Slow Burn, a tortured Past, mistaken identity, close proximity & family Drama! The FMC is a Writer while the MMC is a Billionaire. The story itself is fast-paced, while the love builds slowly. There are intimate moments & there's sultry chemistry with gradual development & witty banter!
It's emotionally charged, PDA in books is always appreciated (haha, I'm not sure for irl lol), with betrayals in past that makes them guarded & losses that makes them ache, maybe together... they can start to heal!
There is depth, there is nuance. While sometimes it can feel too quick, most of the times it maintains a rhythm that the readers will like.
Drunk on Love is an absolute gem of a romance novel - heartfelt, emotional, and utterly addictive. It beautifully blends witty banter, emotional depth, and slow-burn chemistry, creating a story that stays with you long after the last page.
The story revolves around Kiara, a strong yet vulnerable writer who’s healing from her past, and Manav, a guarded billionaire chef with a bruised heart. Their love story is a perfect blend of sunshine and grumpiness, slow build-up, and undeniable tension. The chemistry between them is electric, and their journey from guarded individuals to soul-deep lovers is a delight to witness.
Kiara is a standout character; flawed, real, and incredibly relatable. Her growth, inner strength, and emotional monologue make her feel alive on the page. Manav, on the other hand, is every reader’s dream hero: broody, protective, and tender beneath all the layers of pain. Watching Kiara slowly melt his defenses is both heartwarming and satisfying.
The supporting characters like Kartik, Meeta, Roy, Myra, and especially Kiara’s grandmother add so much charm and humor to the story. The bond between Kiara and her grandmother is one of the most wholesome and beautiful parts of the book.
It’s hard to believe this is a debut novel because it feels like the work of an experienced romance writer. The writing is confident, emotional, funny, and full of heart. If you're someone who loves highlighting meaningful quotes, you’ll find something worth saving on nearly every page.
If you enjoy tropes like: Brother’s Best Friend Writer FMC × Billionaire MMC Slow Burn Tortured Past Family Drama Grumpy x Sunshine Emotional Healing Then Drunk on Love is the perfect pick for you.
This book feels like a K-drama come to life. It’s sexy, soulful, wholesome, and unputdownable. I genuinely wish I could read it again for the first time. Don’t just walk but run to grab your copy!
When I picked up Drunk On Love, I wasn’t expecting the comforting blend of warmth, wit, and slow-burn romance that this book delivered. From the very first chapter, I was drawn into Kiara and Manav’s world—a world that’s both messy and magical. The title intrigued me, and by the end, I realized just how fitting it was. It’s not a tale of instant fireworks but a slow intoxication—the kind of love that brews quietly and deeply until it consumes you.
Kiara Randhawa – A Protagonist I Could Instantly Root For Kiara, the bestselling author suffering from writer’s block, felt incredibly relatable. Her emotional vulnerability, her sass, and even her quirks made her feel like someone I could be friends with. She’s successful but stuck, charming but unsure—and Priyanka Gupta has written her with a sensitivity that makes you root for her healing. As a reader who loves character-driven stories, I appreciated how her internal conflict was just as central to the story as the romance itself.
Manav Oberoi – The Brooding Billionaire With a Twist Let’s talk about Manav—our tall, mysterious, brooding chef-billionaire. Yes, he ticks all the romance genre boxes, but thankfully, he’s not a cardboard cutout. There’s pain and silence in his character that slowly unfolds with subtlety. His dynamic with Kiara is electric, not because they fall into each other instantly, but because their chemistry builds with conversations, shared spaces, and little domestic moments. I loved how Manav’s character was developed with restraint—it made his eventual vulnerability hit harder.
The Setup – Close Proximity Done Right The “living together under the same roof” trope can feel forced in many romance novels, but here, it worked. The way Kiara and Manav’s lives intertwine—through misunderstandings, coincidences, and emotional proximity—felt organic. Their evolving relationship is peppered with playful banter, charged silences, and honest confessions. It’s in the kitchen, in late-night chats, and during writer’s meltdowns that their love story begins to simmer. And by the time it boils over, you’re fully invested.
Writing Style – Simple, Fluid, and Surprisingly Emotional Priyanka Gupta’s writing is clean and accessible, which works well for a contemporary romance. What surprised me was how deeply emotional some scenes felt, despite the light tone overall. The narration is simple, but the emotions aren’t. There are moments where the prose cuts unexpectedly deep—especially during the characters' personal revelations. The dialogues feel natural, and the romantic tension is very well-paced. The story does linger a bit in the middle, but I never felt disconnected.
A Few Tiny Flaws, But Nothing Too Bitter While I truly enjoyed the book, I would’ve liked a bit more exploration into Manav’s backstory. We’re told about his scars and his past, but some of it remains at the surface. A few plot developments felt a tad predictable, and I think certain emotional resolutions could have had more weight. Still, these are minor quibbles in an otherwise satisfying and heartfelt romance.
Final Take – A Cozy, Satisfying Romantic Escape Overall, Drunk On Love was a wonderful surprise. It’s cozy without being cliché, romantic without being over-the-top, and emotional without being exhausting. The book had me smiling in places, sighing in others, and even pausing occasionally to soak in a line or two. If you enjoy slow-burn romances with emotionally layered characters, this is definitely one to add to your list.
This was one of those books that you hug tightly for a long time after finishing reading it. I didn't realize I was crying when it ended, the story was warm and comforting. I didn't want it to end, I wanted more of their story. It took me only 3 days to finish this, and I know it's going to stay with me forever because I loved it so much. It's a fast-paced romance that will grab your attention from the very first page, and you won't be able to put it down. It's as if you're drunk on reading their story. Their story is hot and engaging, which will keep you hooked till the very end.
I loved the tension between Kiara and Manav, which was electric, and their chemistry will drive you crazy. Kiara is a bestselling romance author, she's a sunshine character who's clumsy, sassy, relatable, and talkative. Manav is an awesome character, he's grumpy, calm, wounded, and impossible to resist. He's a rich and hot businessman who's also an amazing chef. The author has portrayed him beautifully, which made me fall for him. They both meet first in the kitchen when Kiara goes to her brother Roy's place for vacation, Roy is Manav's best friend too. Roy asks him to take care of her until he's at work in another country. Kiara falls for him and his abs at first sight. I loved how he called her "Cheeseball."
Although I'm not a fan of slow-burn romance, I enjoyed reading this one. Both characters have their own past emotional scars and traumas, which add depth to their characters, making them relatable. They're opposites, and this trope makes them hotter, bringing heat to the scenes, and their romance is perfectly paced. I was giggling, kicking my feet in the air, smiling like an idiot, and blushing throughout the book. The ending made me cry and feel happy at the same time. I closed the book and hugged it for a very long time because it deserves it. They will hold a place in my heart for a long time now. The author's writing style is smooth, descriptive, and immersive, balancing light-hearted moments with emotional tension. This book is a perfect romance that will sweep you off your feet and leave you wanting more. You'll be attached to the book from the first page, and it will become your next favorite read. It feels like watching a K-drama! If you enjoy slow-burn romances with banter, emotionally unavailable characters, and stories about romance authors, then trust me, you'll love this book. The characters are well-developed and will stay with you long after you finish reading. With its sizzling and fiery chemistry and heartfelt moments, this book is a worthy pick for anyone looking for a great romance read. So, go ahead, give it a try, and get ready to fall in love with Kiara and Manav's story.
The story is when two souls meet up accidently where they came to find a way to untie their emotional suffering which was carried by them, which crushed their souls. Kiara Randhawa, a romance writer, meets Manav Oberoi, the business tycoon and also her brother Roy’s best friend. And you need to see his cooking skills; both his food and his shirtless style of cooking makes you damnnnn!!!!!.Even though he had been carrying a burden over his mind and suffering deep behind betrayals and yearning for his mother’s love from when she left. On the other side Kiara seems strong outside but was so fragile to knock down with the emotional hurricane in her.
Alright, don’t think it's just a story, but from the beginning of the book you will start to enjoy the read , the blushing –he will bring the shit out of you , making your cheeks as red as tomatoes, you laugh in high pitch in with their banter and conversations, you will feel loved the way they take each other without knowing they fell in love, You will feel their cozy little hugs , as soothing to your heart. And the way they gave space to each other to think and come out from their emotional tornados. Ohh !!!!I forgot to say you will really get heated and blushed, hydrate with water when you start to read, Yeah I guess you found it!!!! The read gets spicy here and there where you would feel !!! . UHHHH NO Wait the main thing is the story has taken a smooth ride with emotional variation where you will laugh , cry , gets anger whole heartedly , Author has really filled up each space without boring and trigger the reader to stay in without any distraction and complete the book, I very happy to find a debut novel to be such perfect with every sync of the scenes, she didn’t exaggerate any situation which we found it dragging in some novels. She made every scene and sentence to be cherished in our own space, not so fast , but very slow and savoring . Author has provided each character and plot well written consecutively which sync of the each scene, the supporting character are well played their roles and beautiful to look their relationship. The friends Myra , Roy , Meeta , Kartik played their best roles in the life of the main characters. Even though it’s a romance , but it felt a deep emotion, like something felt deep in our heart soothing , we let our emotions out , and felt a comfort while the story ends not because it’s spicy or happy ending. But the emotional depth it provides you.
I just devoured 'Drunk on Love' like i was starving for ages! This story has left a huge mark on my heart, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it's one of the most beautiful romance books I've ever had the pleasure of reading. Ahh bookish gods blessed me for real.
It's magic, pure magic. The way the author has crafted the entire story is nothing but beautiful. You will feel so connected to the characters like they are not just words on paper but real life people sitting right beside you, telling you their story themselves. Manav and Kiara's love story is a masterpiece in the world of slow-burn romances, with moments that'll make you blush and giggle. It'll melt your heart and you'll be awestruck.
You said "Perfect Book boyfriend", I heard "Manav". Oh my god this man! He's the definition of utter perfection. He's handsome, kind, and above all, respectful. He cooks for Kiara, prioritizes her feelings, and goes to great lengths just to make her happy. I mean who doesn't love an emotionally available green flag shirtless hottie who even cooks for you? I was SOLD in the first few chapters, itself. I loved how he's not the typical billionaire stereotype, but someone with his own set of quirks and vulnerabilities.
And our girl, our Kiara! She is such a strong character given everything that she had to face. My heart was hurting for her. I just wanted to dive into the pages and give her a big hug! I loved her bond with her brother, Roy. They had such a wholesome yet strong familial love. And I loved her interactions with her friend as well. Those moments made me choke on my own laughter! It had so much humour and felt relatable.
The best part? The Indian setting! It didn't give the vibe of desi romance but it was still enough desi! This book showcases Indian culture, Indian family dynamics and mouthwatering Indian cuisine. And although i was blushing throughout, what truly made this book stand out, was that it wasn't just a simple love story, it was much more complex than that. It was a journey of two people who are broken and scared, trying to find solace and peace. And eventually they find each other, their home.
If you're looking for a book that'll make you laugh, cry, giggle, blush and swoon, 'Drunk on Love' is the perfect book for you. It's a beautifully written story that'll stay with you long after you finish reading it. You won't regret picking up this book!
As someone who usually steers clear of steamy romance, Drunk on Love by Priyanka Gupta was a surprising and refreshing exception. This debut novel isn’t just about slow-burn chemistry and spice (though yes, there’s definitely heat!) it’s also a story of healing, emotional vulnerability, and quiet resilience.
The book follows Kiara Randhawa, a bestselling romance writer who impulsively flees her arranged wedding and seeks refuge at her brother Roy’s place only to run into Manav Oberoi, a billionaire with grief in his heart and a talent for cooking that’s equally swoon-worthy and soul-soothing. When Kiara mistakes him for a homeless man and hires him as her chef, the story kicks off with fiery banter and mistaken identities that lead to forced proximity and some unforgettable moments.
What I loved most was the emotional undercurrent: beneath the sizzling chemistry lies a deeply human connection. Both characters carry wounds Kiara’s emotional fragility masked by strength, and Manav’s unresolved grief and yearning for love. Watching them slowly open up to each other, with cozy hugs, late-night conversations, and unspoken tenderness, felt like a warm, healing hug.
Yes, the spice is there so keep a glass of water handy, but what lingers is not the heat, but the heart. The emotional layers, the banter that makes you laugh out loud, the blush-worthy moments that sneak up on you, and the genuine care they show for each other make it more than just another romance. The friends,Myra, Roy, Meeta, and Kartik bring lightness and depth, beautifully supporting the core love story.
The pacing falters a little in places with repetitive thoughts, and the final chapters felt slightly rushed, leaving me wishing for more depth in how their emotional journeys wrapped up. But these are small ripples in an otherwise beautifully flowing story.
This isn’t just a love story ,it’s about two souls who accidentally find each other while trying to untangle their own pain. It’s about learning to feel again, to trust again, and to heal together. For a debut, Priyanka Gupta has done a remarkable job creating a romance that touches the heart and lingers after the last page. I’m so glad I gave this a chance.
This book was so comforting and felt so connected,am glad I picked this book up.
I have so many things to say and share but I don’t wanna give spoilers.Even the dedication was fantastic.I fell in love with authors writing.
I have heard this somewhere, when 2 broken hearts find each other they get attracted to each other and unknowingly heal each other. That is how I felt about this book.Manav and Kiara fighting all the odds and even their own minds ,growing stronger.
Manav the famous bussinessman with his own past trauma and Kiara the famous romance author with her trauma and issues. He is her brother’s best friend and she is his bestfriend’s sister,The trope I fell for and fell for book even harder.
Manav,a businessman who cooks ,am weak for men who cooks I mean who doesn’t want a man who feeds her delicious food she craves everyday,he have set the standard high now for me😭. The way he always said “I know you can do it yourself but I want to do it”,Sir sir please😭. The way he stood for her.The way he did not asked any questions untill she was comfortable to share it was everything. The way he explained his mother was heartbreaking for me because I lost my dad due to cancer last year,so I cried when he was reading those letters or speaking about her because that’s exactly how my dad was.He was my everything,my bestfriend. Such pain no matter how many years passed,we learn to cope with it ,but it stays with us till we die.
The banter between them was so good💗.
I understood why Kiara was scared of attachment ,that’s what constant gaslighting from people you love do to you.Am glad atleast she had her Daadi ,her brother Roy and a friend like Myra.
I loved the scene, where Manav was so tired and was working non-stop but he just wanted to see her,he couldn’t wait till evening and barged into her office.Where she was dancing lost in her world and he joined her, even after being tired, after having a sleepless night,That’s how a man should be in real,A man who thinks she can take his all tiredness away. The way he protected her even when she was angry at him was just🤌🏻🤌🏻.
Everyone deserves a friend like Kartik,Meeta & Myra, where they will punch you in gut and tell you .No stop it you are doing wrong.Daadi oh I loved her so much.
When I picked up Drunk on Love, I was expecting a light romance, but what I found instead was something far more tender and soulful. This book is like a warm hug the kind that stays with you long after the final page is turned. I felt so connected to Manav and Kiara, two beautifully flawed people who are both hiding their scars yet manage to slowly unravel each other with patience and care. The pace of their relationship is just right a gentle slow-burn that mirrors real emotional growth.
What touched me most was Manav’s way of expressing love not with grand declarations, but with his gentle actions. That forehead touch he shares with Kiara? It’s intimate without being loud, and it made my heart ache in the most beautiful way. Kiara’s relationship with her Dadi added another layer of warmth and emotion. I found myself teary-eyed when Dadi opened up about Kiara’s mother, and again when Manav read his own mother’s letter. These weren’t just emotional high points, they were reminders of how our past pain shapes our present love.
I also adored how food was woven into the story, not just as a plot device but as a symbol of nurturing, comfort, and unspoken care. Manav cooks, but what he’s really serving is healing. And Kiara, despite her guarded heart, slowly opens up through these shared meals and shared silences. Their bond isn’t just romantic it’s about mutual respect, emotional safety, and finding a home in each other.
The writing felt effortless, poetic in parts, and deeply relatable throughout. One line that stayed with me was: “Well then, borrow some of mine. Until you remember how.” There’s something so quietly powerful about that sentence, the way it holds space for someone else’s pain while offering hope. Another favorite was: “Stories are just people trying to leave pieces of themselves behind.” It made me think of this very book, how the author has left behind something meaningful for us to hold on to.
For a debut, this book is incredibly well-rounded with strong side characters, a well-structured narrative, and genuine emotional depth. If you're a fan of desi romances that go beyond fluff and explore vulnerability, healing, and companionship, I wholeheartedly recommend Drunk on Love. I didn't just read it ; I felt it.
Okay, so Drunk on Love literally had my whole heart from the very first chapter. It starts with Manav Oberoi who's a billionaire with a multi-billion-dollar empire and a talent in the kitchen that could make anyone fall in love with food. But behind those perfect perfect face with confidence, there’s a boy who's been carrying deep scars from a betrayal, from loss, and most painfully, from losing his mother at such a young age.
There’s this one part where he was reading letters which her mother wrote before she died...God, I broke down. I was actually crying reading those lines. That kind of raw, emotional writing hits different. You can breathe his pain.
Then there’s Kiara Randhawa — a bestselling romance author who's hit the worst writer's block ever. She’s back from abroad, And here’s where it gets hilarious and adorable — she mistakes like thinking her a guy with hot abs Manav billionaire, is a jobless, homeless chef and hires him as her personal chef 😭. Little she does not know, she just invited her brother’s best friend into her life.
And one thing I absolutely loved was her relationship with her grandmother. Their bond was everything. The little moments, the talks, the comfort — I actually found myself in Kiara’s place at some points. I felt that emotion so deeply. It reminded me of real-life love that isn’t loud, but powerful. Her grandmother was her motivation through all the heartbreak she carried, and it was just so beautiful to see that.
And if we talk about both of them being in same house then You could feel the tension — the kind that slowly builds and then explodes. Both of them had walls, trust issues, fears... and yet, they were exactly what the other needed. The push. The healing. The love.
The ending? Perfect as heaven. My eyes were literally welling up. It was that kind of ending that just stays with you.
Honestly, this book is going to stay close to my heart for a long time. It's not just about romance. It's about grief, healing, family, trust, and finding love when you’ve stopped believing in it. Definitely one of the best books I’ve read this year so far 💖.
Sometimes you stumble upon a book with zero expectations, and it ends up owning a piece of your heart. Drunk on Love by Priyanka Gupta was exactly that kind of surprise. From the very beginning, the playful banter between the leads had me hooked. What I thought would be a simple love story slowly revealed itself as something much more layered—filled with chemistry, complexity, and raw emotions.
The story revolves around Kiara Randhawa, a bestselling author who's confident, quick-witted, and carrying wounds she doesn't always show. Enter Manav Oberoi—a brooding billionaire whose silence hides a stormy past. Their first meeting crackles with tension, and what follows is a delicious slow burn. The way their relationship unfolds—through arguments, stolen glances, vulnerability, and emotional walls being slowly broken—is what makes this book unputdownable.
What I truly loved was how real the characters felt. They’re flawed, guarded, yet longing for connection. Manav isn't your typical romantic hero. He's mysterious, emotionally scarred, and yet deeply protective and gentle in ways that make you melt. Kiara, on the other hand, is fierce but quietly broken too. Together, they don’t just fall in love—they grow, heal, and challenge each other. Their love isn’t perfect, but it’s beautifully real.
The narration is smooth, immersive, and just the right balance of witty and emotional. Priyanka Gupta’s writing makes every scene feel like a movie playing in your head. From the sizzling dialogues to the vulnerable monologues, the storytelling flows effortlessly. There's no unnecessary drama—just raw, honest moments that make you feel every emotion the characters are going through.
And let’s not forget—Manav Oberoi. I haven’t fallen this hard for a fictional man since Atlas Corrigan. He doesn’t profess his love in grand gestures—he does it in quiet protectiveness, intense gazes, and the way he shows up for Kiara when it matters. If you’re a sucker for emotional slow-burns, sassy leads, and intense fictional men who ruin real ones for you—Drunk on Love is your next obsession.
Billionare romance ✅ FMC is a romance author ✅✅ Both in existential crisis ✅ Steamy. Slow burn like literal slow burn ✅ Damn it has all I needed from a romance novel . Filled with witty internalonologue of FMC and grumpiness of MMC it's a perfect balance of romance and if you ain't a fan of explicit open door romance it's for you. Emotional roller coaster ride it takes you on is gonna be an awsome one . The way the characters hide away from world to find peace but find one another and then became each other's home , no book literally no book made me feel so good in recent times. It's a break from usual romance novels and rather is a slow paced , more natural way of feelings developing , growing and nourishing each other , the way the characters met is absolutely hilarious and the opening had me hooked till the very end , the emotions of characters is a journey of there own and no one helps them sail through rather they stand by each other and let there partner process the feelings on there own cause at the end of the day it's them who has to live with a certain loss in there own lives .that's the realistic part in the story that they ain't pushing pulling or yanking one another rather they hold each other army to arm shoulder to shoulder and move with live . Kiara has my heart and smiles throughout her internal monologues are too good .and the way she feels , damn girl we feel you if we see such a cool we are gonna completely ball roll too . And for manav he is a book boyfriend who cooks , who knows consent to the t , and who takes a flight across the globe for her ✨ that's what I call a good book boyfriend guys please take some notes you are gonna need it . Also the Indian feature of family, caring dadis , and not so outspoken father's at homes and friends who definitely don't have boundaries when it comes to questionable choices in life , is the feeling of hominess in the book it feels like cozy blanket in rains along with a coffee and cheeseballs 😶🌫️
I honestly don't know where to start with Drunk on Love, because this book has completely stolen my heart!! I honestly still can’t believe Drunk on Love is a debut. It feels like the work of someone who’s been writing beautiful, addictive romances for years. The writing is so confident and also full of heart 💞
Manav and Kiara are just…so perfect in their imperfections. Manav is literally the ultimate book boyfriend. He’s broody, he cooks!!, he has this hidden softness under all that grumpiness, and I kept thinking...this is the kind of man you want rooting for you. And Kiara…I saw so much of myself in her. She’s successful and driven, but also messy, insecure, and trying to figure herself out. I loved that she wasn’t perfect, she felt like a real person with real fears.
✨️One of my absolute favourite things in this book is Kiara’s inner monologue. Sometimes it was so painfully relatable and sometimes I had to pause because I was laughing at her embarrassment. She just thinks exactly the way so many of us do when we’re trying to hold it together.
I also liked Roy - her brother, her greatest support and Myra - the kind of best friend everyone deserves.
This story never bored me for even a second! The slow burn between Manav and Kiara was so satisfying, and the chemistry was off the charts. I loved how their connection built up gradually and felt completely believable.
If you love highlighting, get ready!! This book is basically a "highlighter trap". Nearly every page has a line you’ll want to underline or save.
I don’t say this lightly, but this is the kind of love story every book lover secretly hopes for. If you’re in the mood for a romance that’s funny, emotional & full of all the messy, beautiful parts of falling in love, please pick this up!
It’s the kind of book you finish & instantly wish you could read again for the first time. I genuinely can't recommend it enough🫶
If you'll ask me then books are the best wine ever. I currently read a book, which actually made me drunk over it.
This book, 'Drunk on Love' by Priyanka Gupta is a fine wine or I should say a whiskey with their smell and taste growing on you intoxicating your senses unless all you see is this book, the characters and the story moving in front of your eyes.
Kiara Randhawa, has faced a lot in her life; the abandonment and hate she didn't deserve, the marriage of convenience she didn't call for and kidnapping she had no link to. Her only comfort was her sweet Dadi and only family in her brother Roy. The famous International author who can make her readers swoony over romance didn't have an ounce of love in her world when a hot shirtless chef made her a biryani.
Manav Oberoi, a multi-billionaire bachelor, a stunning specimen of man species and cocky on face is a sweet dream wrapped in care. After losing his mother to cancer and his ex without a goodbye, Manav swore off to love and attachment when a romance author, sister of his best friend entered into his life questioning his decisions and rules so far.
Will Kiara finally find her home? Will Manav be able to welcome love and care in his life again? Or will their past grief hold them back? This book has drama, friendship, grief, sweet moments and tender tears with a spoonful of teasing and humour.
I wish I could share my favourite scenes, but it's like after every 3-5 pages I have a new scene or a new moment to swoon over.
To all my dear romantic readers, this book isn't what you want to miss. So, grab it now.
'Drunk on Love' is a beautiful story of how two people cannot take away each other's grief but can balm it and make it better. With moments that make you reflect and gestures that will bloom in your heart gently, this book is packed with everything you need to romanticize with your reading.
**Book Review: "Drunken on Love" by Priyanka Gupta**
"Drunken on Love" is a captivating tale that intertwines romance, heartbreak, and self-discovery, all set against the backdrop of Beaufort.
The story follows Kiara, a talented romance writer who finds herself grappling with writer's block and the emotional aftermath of fleeing her marriage.
Seeking solace, she retreats to her brother Roy's home, hoping to find inspiration and healing.
In a humorous twist, Kiara mistakenly perceives Manav, a brooding billionaire, as a jobless and homeless man living in her brother's home .
This misunderstanding leads to a series of delightful and unexpected events, particularly when Kiara hires Manav as her personal chef after tasting his culinary creations.
Their interactions are filled with tension and chemistry, as Kiara navigates her feelings while trying to overcome her past.
The novel is enriched by a vibrant cast of side characters that add depth and humor to the narrative.
Playboy Rocky Mehra is beast who hurts others, while Manav's friends, Kartik and Meeta, who are a couple themselves, offer insights into relationships and support for Kiara.
Myra, Kiara's close friend, serves as a confidante, helping her through her struggles and the same time hilarious.
The presence of Kiara's Dadi adds a touch of wisdom and warmth, while Vihaan, Kiara's ex-fiancé, serves as a reminder of her past and the choices she must confront.
Priyanka Gupta's writing is engaging and relatable, capturing the complexities of love and the journey of self-acceptance.
"Drunken on Love" is not just a romance; it is a story about finding oneself amidst chaos and the unexpected paths that lead to healing and happiness.
With its charming characters and witty dialogue, this book is a delightful read for anyone who enjoys a heartfelt romantic comedy.
A beautiful love story everyone should read!I’m going to recommend it to anyone and everyone who will listen to me.Manav Oberoi is a businessman. He’s rich, hot, can cook well—he’s like a complete package. He’s in Beaufort on a business trip, and Roy has offered him the guest cottage next to his house.Kiara is a bestselling romance novelist who needs to finish her latest book and is also running away from her family. She broke off her engagement and moved to her brother’s place in Beaufort. After moving into Roy’s place, Kiara heads to the kitchen to get something to eat—only to find a shirtless Manav cooking a meal. Thinking he’s the chef (though still confused why he’s shirtless), she asks him to make her a plate as well. Believing he’s homeless, shirtless, and a great Indian cook, she offers him a chef job and even agrees to take him shopping for shirts.Manav had seen Kiara’s “cooking skills” a few days earlier while she was attempting to make cheese balls—she almost burned the house down. So, to protect his friend’s home, he agrees to her offer and doesn’t correct her about being jobless or homeless. They settle into a routine: Manav cooks her meals and otherwise keeps his distance. Both Manav and Kiara are heartbroken. Manav’s ex-girlfriend—whom he loved deeply—turned out to be a spy sent to extract information from him. Since then, he keeps women at a two-foot distance. Kiara was set to be married in a business arrangement set up by her father, but she caught her fiancé cheating—with other women—and called off the wedding. Now, Manav and Kiara are slowly forming a friendship. Both are unknowingly getting closer and making each other question their old beliefs. The banter between Manav, Kiara, and their friends is delightful and beautifully written. Some moments in the book even gave me butterflies!
Did I just find the most beautiful book? Yes, I did. This book made me feel so many things. It was emotional, sweet, funny, and just so nice to read. I didn’t feel bored even for a second.
I cried when she spoke to her Dadi. I laughed during the funny scenes. I felt happy, soft, and even a little sad at times. This is one of the best desi romance books I’ve ever read. I really loved it.
And the MMC? He’s too good. Hot, kind, calm, and also a really good cook. Like what more do you need 😭 I fell in love with him while reading. He’s going on my book boyfriend list and he’s not leaving. He’s my favourite now.
I liked how they didn’t fall in love too fast. They slowly started trusting each other and the way they talked about their pasts really touched my heart. It didn’t feel fake or rushed. It felt real.
There’s one scene where she wears a saree and he sees her and omg that was just perfect. I had a big smile on my face. I won’t lie, I was blushing too 😭
And guess what? While reading this book, I was listening to Humsafar and Dhun from the Sayara movie and it felt so good. The songs matched the story so well. I never listen to music while reading but this time it just felt right.
Even though I’m not really into slow burn romance, I liked this one a lot. Their chemistry was strong, their fights were funny, and their emotional moments were done really well. The side characters were great too. Everyone had their own part and it made the story even more fun to read.
By the end, I was smiling and crying at the same time. I didn’t want it to finish. I wanted more of them and more of their story. It was really special to me. I loved reading it.
If you want a romance book that’s emotional, sweet, funny and makes you feel everything, you should read this one. I loved it so much.
Some books make you giggle, some books make you blush and some just make you go through a roller coaster of emotions - this book did all three. Imagine that you are a writer and you are facing a severe writer's block but you have a deadline to meet - so you hire a temporary live - in chef who can help you take your mind off the cooking and focus completely on writing. And guess what? - the chef that you hired is accidentally an "arrogant, charming and weirdly good enough in kitchen" billionaire in disguise 🙈 and also your brother's long lost best friend!!! Yes, that's how our dashing MMC - Manav Oberoi and our writer FMC - Kiara Randhawa meet 🫶.
Reading Manav and Kiara's story felt like curling up on a rainy day with a warm cup of tea - it's a gentle, wholesome and heart-warming escape. Priyanka Gupta narrated their story so nicely, in such a realistic way - that their story felt so raw, warm and touching. It has a perfect blend of slow burn romance, emotional depth and banter - you will get butterflies in your tummy. 🙈
Apart from our protagonists, Kiara's grandmother won my heart - she is a wholesome character and her presence in the book just warms up your heart. I loved how she embraced Manav - how she treated him and made him feel like a family with so much warmth. She just enhanced the beauty of this novel in the best way possible.
This novel peels back the layers of a complex relationship - this is more than just a second-chance romance - it's a testament to the resilience of the human heart and the courage it takes to love again after a devastating loss. So, if you are looking forward to reading a book that has - slow burn romance between a writer FMC and a billionaire MMC, family drama, traumatic past - JUST GO FOR IT!!! - This book is perfect blend of all these tropes in the most beautiful way.🫶
I was drowning in thrillers this month, this book felt like warm chai on a rainy day like sweet, comforting, and a pinch of spice to keep me blushing 😌. This book gave me laughter, swoony moments, late night grins, and yes, butterflies in my stomach.
Manav Oberoi, the brooding billionaire with cooking skills had every reason to be guarded, but the moment he fell in love, he fell hard. And he didn’t run. He fought. He may seem like your usual grumpy ML at first, but trust me he’s peak green flag material.
Kiara Randhawa. A romance author battling writer’s block and life’s chaos, who accidentally hires her brother’s billionaire best friend as her private chef had no idea what was coming her way. The banter, tension and moments between them were swoon-worthy.
What did I love the most? Every time they laughed, I laughed. Every time they had a soft or chaotic moment, I smiled like an idiot. It wasn’t just reading a story it was experiencing one. I took my sweet time with this book, not because it was slow, but because 1. I wanted to savour it and 2. Life got in the way, but I kept coming back to these two. Also I liked that nickname he gave her.. CHEESEBALL.. Adorable. I am not a fan of nicknames usually but this one got me🫠
Yes, there were moments that left a few unanswered things like things from Manav’s past I didn’t fully get, and parts of the story that felt a little vacant, but honestly? I didn’t care. The vibe, the connection, the growth, and the chemistry more than made up for it.
So yeah, Drunk on Love isn’t flawless. But neither is love. And that’s what made this story so real. It’s messy, beautiful, stubborn, soft, and worth it. A Book with just the right mix of heat, heart, and healing.
The story revolves around Kiara Randhawa, a bestselling romance novelist who escapes her arranged marriage and finds refuge at her brother Roy's place—only to be unexpectedly captivated by Manav Oberoi, Roy’s charming best friend and a billionaire with a love for cooking, who happens to be staying in the cottage next door.
When Kiara accidentally hires Manav as her personal chef, thinking he’s homeless, it triggers a series of events that creates emotional turmoil in both their lives. What starts as heated exchanges filled with undeniable chemistry gradually transforms into instances of shared vulnerability, surprising tenderness, and an increasing desire that neither can overlook.
The chemistry between Kiara and Manav is electric—filled with clever banter, slow-burning attraction, and moments that will leave you breathless. Kiara, a bestselling romance novelist, is a bright spirit: clumsy, sassy, endlessly chatty, and incredibly relatable. In contrast, Manav is her perfect foil—grumpy yet grounded, quietly hurt, and completely irresistible. A wealthy, mysterious businessman with the heart (and talent) of a world-class chef, he’s the type of man who takes your breath away effortlessly. Together, they’re like sparks ready to catch fire.
The storytelling is seamless—it's smooth, engaging, and hits just the right mix of humor and feeling. But this isn’t merely a romance. It’s about two individuals who cross paths while working through their own struggles. It’s a journey of rediscovering emotions, rebuilding trust, and gradually healing—side by side. Gentle, sincere, and subtly impactful, their tale stays with you long after you’ve turned the final page.
Drunk on Love by Priyanka Gupta was a light and pleasant romance that made for a quick, easy read. The story itself was simple — no over-complicated twists or heavy drama, though there were a few dramatic moments that kept the plot moving. It follows the classic insta-love storyline, but with a twist: while their connection sparked almost immediately, both characters spent a good part of the story denying it. Everyone around them could see how clearly they were falling for each other, but they themselves kept playing around, not realising how deep their feelings had actually grown.
I did enjoy the soft moments between them and the way they slowly opened up about their pasts. Their backstories and personal traumas did impact how their relationship developed, especially in explaining their insecurities and hesitations. But I felt those parts could’ve been explored a little more. The emotional depth was there, but it didn’t fully connect. If their histories had been detailed just a bit more, I think the story could’ve felt even more heartfelt and layered.
There was a bit of banter, mixed with playful flirting and some honest conversations between them, which I liked. The spark was there right from the start, and their attraction was obvious even when they kept denying it. But somewhere in their actual love story, I felt like something was missing — though I can’t exactly say what. Still, whatever it was, it didn’t affect their connection or the story as a whole. It worked well as a simple, sweet romance.
A good pick for when you’re in the mood for something uncomplicated and warm, with just the right touch of spice.
What do you get when a brooding billionaire with secrets ends up in the kitchen of a romance author with writer’s block—both completely unaware of the storm they’re about to stir up? Drunk on Love by Priyanka Gupta is exactly that kind of delicious chaos... and I really enjoyed it!
This book has everything you want in a desi romance—drama, chemistry, emotion, and characters who stay with you even after the last page. For a debut, it’s impressive how much heart and depth Priyanka has poured into the story.
Let’s talk characters—because that’s easily my favourite part! Manav and Kiara are so well written. You get attached to them slowly, and by the end, you’re just rooting for them like crazy. And the fact that it’s told in dual POV? Loved that. Their individual voices and inner conflicts added such a strong emotional layer. I honestly don’t think a single POV could’ve done justice to what this story was trying to say.
Also, the side characters? Absolute gems. Myra is pure fire, Roy is calm and grounding, Meeta and Kartik are sweethearts, and Sasha—she’s a powerhouse. And let’s not forget Dadi—the literal cutest! I also have this feeling that one of those chaotic opposites-attract pairings might be getting a book of their own… 👀 (IYKYK).
Overall, Drunk on Love is a fun, heartfelt, and emotionally grounded romance that hits the sweet spot between family, second chances, and the magic of falling in love when you least expect it. A solid debut and a must-add for fans of desi romance with depth and spark!
“ Love doesn’t always come easy and it doesn’t always make sense but when it’s real it has the power to heal things you didn’t even know were broken “
🍀Plot - Kiara Randhawa, a best-selling author, arrives at her brother Roy’s penthouse, which she shares with the handsome and mysterious Manav. Manav, who often moves around shirtless and cooks for her, appears reserved and snobbish—but in reality, he’s a millionaire with a guarded heart. Though Manav is drawn to Kiara, his past holds him back. Kiara, too, is trying to heal and has moved into Roy’s cottage to escape the dark shadows of her own past. What happens when two people, both trying to piece together their broken pasts, meet by chance and attempt to move forward in life? Review - Plot may sound simple but author adds plenty of twists, emotions, and surprises to keep you hooked. Everything falls perfectly into place—starting with Kiara, a modern girl deeply rooted in her values. She follows her heart without hurting others, respects elders, but never lets anyone crush her dreams.
Manav feels straight out of a fantasy—charming, silent, and carved with perfection. You’ll fall for him instantly.
At its core, this is a love story, but the author weaves in strong bonds of friendship, sibling love, and the warmth of a grandmother’s blessings. A touching twist in the father-daughter relationship adds extra depth.
That said, about 50 pages could have been edited to make it tighter.
It’s a fun roller-coaster for young readers—full of passion, energy, and tender moments. Read it and You’ll be drunk on love!
I picked this up thinking it'd be a cute romance but what I got was emotion, healing & a story that stayed with me.
Kiara has been through heartbreak & it shows in her fears, in her silence, in the way she hesitates to believe in love again. But beneath all that hurt, there's a strength and softness that make her so easy to root for.
Manav hides his pain behind calm eyes and quiet actions. He's cautious with his heart, but it shows in the way he cares, how he notices, how he shows up, how he makes the small things feel safe Together, they aren't perfect but they're exactly what the other needs. A slow, steady kind of love that feels like healing.
Their banter made me smile & their pain brought tears to my eyes. The way they connected felt so real that I had to pause and take it all in.
Kiara's bond with her grandmother was one of my favorite parts-it was warm, emotional, and beautifully written And Manav? He wasn't just charming-he was kind, steady, and always there. Definitely going on my book boyfriend list
Myra's presence added both comfort and laughter to the story. She supported Kiara in the most genuine way, without ever stealing the spotlight.
I laughed at parts, felt emotional at others & found myself saving a few lines that really hit home. By the end, I just sat there for a moment, taking it all in. It didn't feel like just a story-it felt real & quietly comforting.
If you enjoy slow-burn romances, emotional healing & characters that feel real-this one's for you.
'Drunk on Love' is an engrossing romance that hooks you in from the start. With equal parts romance, drama and chemistry, the story is a page turner till the end.
The story revolves around Kiara and Manav who meet by chance.Kiara is a bestselling romance author, who after feeling burnt out and fleeing her own arranged wedding is taking a break at her brother Roy's palatial home. Roy's billionaire friend Manav has been assigned to take care of Kiara. But Kiara mistakens Manav for a chef sparking off a chain of events full of chaos and chemistry. What will happen when Kiara discovers Manav's true identity?
The story is a youthful romance right from the start. The tension and the banter between Kiara and Manav is charming. Despite the fun on the surface, you can feel the underlying emotional baggage carried by both. Both Kiara and Manav are very different people but the interactions between the two feel really natural. The writing is free flowing and the author has the balanced the lighter and emotional moments really well.
The characters are well crafted, portraying their emotional traumas and blossoming feelings. The romance between the two is charming and the twists & turns keep you engaged. The other characters like Myra, Roy, Meeta, and Kartik make up a good supporting cast. What sets the story apart for me are the realistic characters and emotionally charged storytelling.
Overall 'Drunk on Love' is an enjoyable romance story and a perfect read for romance lovers.
The book starts with a catchy title and a cute, welcome cover—but what actually gets your interest is the romance between Kiara Randhawa and Manav Oberoi. With mixed identities, emotional issues, and a common roof, this book has all the checks for a feel-good slow-burn romance.
