When Tessa Wagner discovers her whole life has been built on a lie, she boards a flight south. Her Spain, where her eccentric aunt Anna Berg may be the only person who could help uncover the secret of her origins.
Once her mother’s closest friend, Anna has been ostracised by the family ever since she eloped half a century ago with the famous singer Bruno Berg to Ibiza, a then-forgotten island in the Mediterranean. Tessa senses instinctively that this woman holds the answers she is searching for. But while Anna’s recollections draw her back into the eclectic 1970s – a world caught between infinite freedom and antiquated traditions – Tessa finds herself no closer to unravelling her own story. It soon becomes apparent that Anna is hiding something from her.
When a shocking murder takes place, Tessa is drawn into a perilous tangle of events that are intricately bound not only to Anna’s past but also to her own.
The Sins of Others is an utterly absorbing novel that blends family drama, historical fiction, love, and suspense, spanning a dual timeline. With her rich, evocative prose and keen insight into her characters’ emotional journeys, the author weaves a compelling narrative that deftly transcends expectations and literary genres.
Please note that this book is written in British English.
When Luna von Eisenhart Rothe , born in 1970 and raised in the south of Germany, writes her first short stories at the age of nine, she finds a copy of the Dictionary of Synonyms among her birthday presents. From then on, the course seems set: writing is in her blood. Still, for many years, living life takes precedence.
In her early twenties, she moves to Munich (Bavaria) and launches a career as a make-up artist in the worlds of fashion, music and advertising. Around the same time, she loses her heart to Ibiza. But it isn’t until 2006 that she and her husband leave Germany for good and make the bohemian Spanish island their home. That’s also when she returns to writing – in earnest.
Under the pen name LUNA, she releases two successful books of a different genre with a major publishing house before deciding to change direction. Now, writing under her full name, she crafts compelling novels rich in twists and turns, weaving together past and present.
